Melancholy twin brother unit from the wrong side of the tracks, worried about society
Character page for the members of the rap duo cozmez from Paradox Live. Beware of possible unmarked spoilers.

Character Designer: Kinako
Image Color: Light Purple (main), Light Turquoise (sub)
Lyricist: GASHIMA from WHITE JAM

Tropes that apply to the group
  • Animal Motifs: cozmez are represented by a pair of snakes, but are also associated with sewer rats.
  • Conveniently an Orphan: They don't know who their father is, while their mother is a prostitute who subjected them to verbal abuse, trauma, and Parental Abandonment.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: After suffering under their mother, the twins were forcefully taken away to an institute under the government's policy, which they thought was the help they needed. Turned out the institute was a different kind of hell, and the two of them left to live a relatively better life in the slums.
  • Darker and Edgier: cozmez's songs are usually more pessimistic and cynical compared to the other teams, but Ain't No Love takes the cake, fully describing the twins' Dark and Troubled Past and, compared to The Cat Whiskers' Mercy on Me, a whole lot more depressing. You know the song's contents are serious when it's the only song to have a trigger warning on the fan wiki.
  • The Dreaded: Shiki is deathly afraid of them to the point where he faints at the mere mention of them. This is because he is Nayuta's friend and believes himself to play a role in his accident, both things unknown to Kanata.
  • Fish out of Water: Being from the slums, they are unfamiliar with things that may be "normal" for other people. The first time they try a microwave oven, they call it "god's box". Hajun has too much fun seeing their reactions upon getting to eat at a high-class restaurant.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: While both of them have similar personalities, Kanata is more Hot-Blooded and Nayuta is more collected, which is especially noticeable after the first Paradox Live.
  • Identical Twin Mistake: Their visual difference is only the length and the way they style their hair. Even their fashion is similar. This is a plot point when Nayuta suddenly disappears. Kanata worries he might be mistakenly targeted by the guys Kanata got into a fight with because they have the same face.
  • Image Song:
  • The Fashionista: The twins make their own outfits. Reo praises Nayuta for their great fashion sense.
  • Perpetual Poverty: Even after winning the first Paradox Live and acquiring the grand prize of 10 billion yen, they still live in the slums. Though they don't need to worry about food expenses anymore. It's revealed they anonymously gave away the money that they won.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Kanata is the hot-blooded Red Oni while Nayuta is the calmer Blue Oni.
  • Real Name as an Alias: Their MC names are the same as their real names.
  • Sibling Team
  • Significant Birth Date: The twins were born on Christmas Eve.
  • Theme Twin Naming: Kanata and Nayuta.

The older of the Yatonokami twin brothers. An orphan from a poor neighborhood, he was abused by adults growing up and trusts almost no one. He’s lazy and rarely bothers to do anything, but is also devoted to his brother Nayuta and will do anything for him.

His character hashtags are #Nayuta is everything, #Life on the edge, and #Still believes in Santa Claus. His trauma is described in the official website: losing his beloved brother. His trauma hashtags are #Damn world, #Passing love, and #It doesn't matter if it's something other than Nayuta.

  • Believing Their Own Lies: Kanata insists that Nayuta's alive and with him, despite a few giveaways such as the plate of gyoza at Raimentei being left untouched despite Nayuta having eaten it. Turns out, the Nayuta during the rap battles wasn't the real Nayuta; he was an illusion made by Kanata after the incident 2 years ago. Kanata, too traumatized by Nayuta's supposed death, suppressed his memories and made the illusion with his Phantometal in the hopes that Nayuta would still be alive.
  • Berserk Button: Lord help you if you even go near Nayuta, even if it's not for hostile reasons.
  • Big Brother Instinct: For him, Nayuta is his no. 1 priority.
  • Despair Event Horizon: After the truth behind Nayuta was revealed, Kanata fell into this; giving back his earnings in the rap battles and declined the match with BURAIKAN, intending to disband cozmez now that he had nothing to live for after Nayuta's death. After Nayuta comes back alive and well though, Kanata bounced back.
  • Hypocrite: Despite berating Iori for hiding the issue about Phantometals from the other members of Akan Yatsura minus Zen, Iori points out that Kanata does not want Nayuta knowing about him doing shady jobs.
  • New Friend Envy: Though Kanata is also on good terms with Shiki and the three of them often hang out together, Nayuta mentions that Kanata sulked when Nayuta didn't pay attention to him since he and Shiki were working on a track.
  • Odd Friendship: With Allen ever since the events of DESIRE, with both of them having the same passion for hip-hop as their only common interest. While Allen wants to take it further by being a closer friend to Kanata, Kanata... doesn't think the same way.
  • Secret-Keeper: Along with Iori, Zen, and Hajun, Kanata is one of the members from the original main cast who knows about the side effects of the Phantometals besides the trap reactions. Kanata hides this from Nayuta, whom he doesn't want to expose to danger, but unbeknownst to him, Nayuta found out way earlier than he did - and this is by succumbing to the effects of the Phantometal himself.

  • Still Believes in Santa: Despite being lethargic most of the time, he still believes in Santa Claus as indicated by his character hashtags.

Without Kanata, it’s all meaningless.

The younger of the Yatonokami twin brothers. He has been sickly ever since he was young, and has been looked after by his older brother, Kanata, so he has grown a little self-centered. He tends to have a rather dry attitude toward things, but gets indignant when Kanata makes fun of him.

His character hashtags are #I’m sleepy and I want to go home, #Reject everything apart from Kanata, and #Basic energy-saving mode. His trauma is described in the official website: being persecuted by various adults. His trauma hashtags are #Kanata is the only one I can’t tell, #Beautiful sky, and #Hope never granted.

  • Ambiguous Situation: Nayuta's true Trauma Button - there have been hints on his profile with the Trauma Hashtags, but since the Nayuta we know in the 1st Paradox Live battle was Kanata's illusion, we don't actually see Nayuta having a trap reaction.
  • Delicate and Sickly: Is sickly, so Kanata has to take care of him. He feels guilty about this and participates in Alter Trigger's experiments in exchange for money to help his and Kanata's living expenses. This worsens his condition. During the events of the Live album drama, it's revealed that he was actually in the hospital during the duration of the main events of Paradox Live, and the Nayuta that was performing in the battle stages was an illusion made by Kanata.
  • Dissonant Serenity: In the Paradox Live 1st Album "TRAP" cover art, Nayuta and Ryuu are notably the only people not in pain over going through their trap reactions. In Nayuta's case, he's smiling as he falls from certain heights.
  • Driven to Suicide: He attempted to take his life 2 years ago after the Phantometal experiments destroyed his arm. He survived, but lost his memories, including those of Shiki, his old friend. However, as it turns out he did survive but ended up in a hospital during the 1st Paradox Live, and the Nayuta we knew was actually an illusion made by Kanata who denied Nayuta's supposed death.
  • First Friend: To Shiki, who never learned how to make friends due to his upbringing and timid personality leading him to lack the necessary social skills. As well as being an orphan.
  • He's Back!: Just when Shiki and Kanata believe that Nayuta really died 2 years ago, he shows up alive and well in the Live drama and it's revealed that he was being treated at a research facility run by Alter Trigger during the Club Paradox rap battles while Kanata performed alone with an illusion of him.
  • Mature Younger Sibling: Compared to Kanata, he is more calm and composed.
  • Morality Pet: Is this to Kanata; during the drama tracks for Desire, after finding out that Kanata stole Allen's Phantometal, he asked him to return it.
  • Only Sane Man: Poor Nayuta is this during the 1st Shuffle Unit CD drama when he, Anne, Ryu and Reo gather for a picnic; him trying to get the other 3 to discuss their song when they start talking about fashion (and Ryu being Ryu) to no avail.
  • Protectorate: Due to being sickly and the "younger brother", Kanata often takes care of him.
  • The Quiet One: Not exactly one to talk. He was way more talkative in Shiki's flashbacks, and a lot more sociable too.
  • Same Character, But Different: Discussed in TRUST, where Iori points out that the twins have differences sincethe current Nayuta is different from the one Kanata teamed up with in the first Paradox Live.
  • Secret-Keeper: Despite Kanata hiding it from him, Nayuta learned about the side effects of the Phantometals besides the trap reactions way earlier than his older brother. This is because he succumbed to the effects of the Phantometal himself, which he hid from Kanata.
  • Secret Relationship: Shiki and Nayuta's friendship was something that the latter hid from Kanata. Therefore, the Nayuta that Kanata created didn't have any memories with Shiki. After Nayuta's return, he properly introduces Shiki to Kanata as his friend, and later on, the three of them are said to often hang out together.
  • Walking Spoiler: If you're reading this without knowledge of the events that take place during the LIVE drama section, you've been warned...
  • We Used to Be Friends: The drama from Love reveals that Shiki and Nayuta were friends 2 years prior to the events of Paradox Live and hung out in a secret spot in the slums together. However, one day after Nayuta was scarred from Phantometal experiments, he went to Shiki to return him a record, and then threw himself off a building. This traumatized Shiki leading to his Guilt Complex, but while Nayuta survived, he lost his memories and by the time the two met again Nayuta became hostile to Shiki and doesn't remember him anymore. As it turns out, the Nayuta in the 1st Paradox Live battle was an illusion made by Kanata which explains the hostility and eventually, once the real Nayuta comes back, the two boys repair their relationship.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: His profile states that he's weak against the rain.
