Professor series

    Professor 
An orange-haired young woman who invented a robot named Rukki.
  • Expy: Her appearance is based on the Professor from Nichijou, except she wears glasses and is a short adult woman.
  • Older Than They Look: She looks like a child in her later adult years.
  • Opaque Nerd Glasses: She wears glass that are opaque with a spiral swirl.

    Rukki 
A robot created by the Professor.
  • Punny Name: His name is the English word "rookie" transliterated into Japanese.
  • Dub Name Change: One episode named him Lucky.
  • Ridiculously Human Robot: The AI with which he was built gave him the ability to feel human emotions and even does things a human would do whenever he appears as a background character.
  • Robot Buddy: He serves as the Professor's companion and is almost never seen without her.

    Miyu 
A pink-haired woman.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: Her spy catsuit has a hood with cat ears.
  • Animal Motifs: She is often associated with cats.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She doesn't take kindly to being wrong, but she is a nice person otherwise.
  • Big Sister Instinct: When she found out that her sister, Sayuu was being bullied, she went above and beyond to get back at the bully.
  • Spy Catsuit: A literal example; whenever she has to spy on someone, she wears a black sleek catsuit with a cat-eared hood.

Nano and Masayoshi series

    Masayoshi Suguo 
A black-haired young man with glasses.
  • For Great Justice: He hates injustice and will resolve to get the antagonists punished.
  • Meaningful Name: The kanji that composes his namenote  can be read as seigi, the Japanese word for justice. It fits his personality as a man who always seeks justice.
  • Official Couple: He is often paired up with Nano.

    Nano Nomaru 
A brown-haired woman with glasses.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She is nice but she won't hesitate to stand up to her tormenters.
  • Dub Name Change: Some episodes have her name changed to Nancy.
  • Mama Bear: When her daughter Sakura's hair is cut by her mother-in-law, she and Sakura decided to give her a good scare in revenge.
  • Official Couple: She is often paired up with Masayoshi.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Her eyes are slanted and symbolize her strong-willed personality. However, she doesn't have these eyes as a child.
  • The Unfavorite: Many stories have her as a neglected child in favor of a sibling.

Charako series

    Charako Yamamoto 
A light brown-haired woman.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She is a nice girl despite her rough personality but she can strike back against those who wronged her.
  • Mama Bear: If she has kids, she will do anything to protect them.
  • Old Maid: Being implied to be a "wild girl" in her youth, she is often depicted as over 25 years old and single, and even in the episodes where she's married (often to Ataru), she has trouble having children.
  • Punny Name: Her name means "frivolous, flighty woman", which refers to her flashy looks.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Her eyes are slanted like Nano's and she has a rough, strong-willed personality owing to her years as a "wild girl".

     Ataru 
A pink-haired man.
  • Adaptational Villainy: One episode portrays him as a Momma's Boy who immediately believed her claims that Charako that cheated on him and had given birth to another man’s baby, even going as far as spreading rumours about her at work. Needless to say, he ends up losing both his wife and his child and his credibility is ruined.
  • Papa Wolf: In one episode, when his daughter told him about her harrassment at the hands of her mother's new boyfriend, Ataru did everything in his power to take her back.
  • Yakuza: One episode has him be the son of a Yakuza gang boss.

Sumire and Angelica series

     Angelica 
A pink-haired man who is a drag queen. He used to run a gay bar before adopting Ayame.
  • Aerith and Bob: His name stands out in a cast of Japanese named characters. This is justified as the name was his personal choice.
  • Berserk Button: He will get mad at whoever calls him by his former name, "Aitarou".
  • Drag Queen: He usually dresses in women's clothing.
  • Supreme Chef: He is good at cooking.

     Sumire 
A brown-haired man.
  • Disguised in Drag: He disguised himself as a woman to pretend to be Aya's mother for a PTA meeting.
  • Hidden Depths: In "A deaf girl was asking for help…" he's revealed to have known sign language, even teaching it to Ayame when she spoke with Yumi, a deaf little girl.
  • Yakuza: Because of his profession, he asked Angelica to raise his daughter Ayame as his own. Though he later quit so he can spend more time with Ayame.

Other characters

    Sakura Busujima 
A lilac-haired, red-eyed woman.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: In some episodes, she is a sweet girl who can attack back toward those who wronged her.
  • Bully Magnet: In high-school stories or stories with high school as a plot point, she is usually a target for bullies, especially Rena Yakamashi.

    Yuki 
A black-haired man.
  • Abusive Parents: He often ends up with these as a child.
  • The Un-Favourite: Many stories have him as a neglected child in favor of a sibling. Sometimes depending on the story, he will start out being loved only for his parents to turn their backs on him after he has an accident that handicaps him.

    Hanayo Sachiusu 
A woman who is always unlucky.
  • Beta Couple: She is always paired with Rio, who is seemingly just as unlucky as she is.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She may be nice despite the misfortunes that plague her, but if pushed too far, she's willing to share her bad luck with those who wronged her.
  • Born Unlucky: She has always had serious bad luck in every story she is in such as getting rained on or tripping and falling.
  • Punny Name: Her surname, Sachiusu, is a play on the Japanese word sachiusui (幸薄い), which aptly means "unlucky," which fits with her unlucky streak.

    Rio Okada 
A black-haired man.

     Atsumu 
A man who has constant troubles with women.
  • Chick Magnet: Gold Digger Magnet in his case, as most of the women who approach him dump him when he doesn't have a fortune to their liking.
  • Disappeared Dad: He was raised by a single mother and there is no mention of his father.
  • Hostess Club: He was raised by his mother in a hostess club.

     Kei Miyanohara 
A muscular brown-haired man.
  • Beta Couple: He is often paired with Kyoko Kisaragi.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Is often accused of having feminine hobbies, such as cooking.
  • Supreme Chef: His appearances often has him be referenced as this, cooking delicious and nutritious meals.

     Kyoko Kisaragi 
A brown-haired woman.
  • Beta Couple: She is often paired with Kei Miyanohara.
  • Secretly Wealthy: Despite her plain looks, she is the granddaughter of famous investor, philanthropist, and media mogul Manjiro Kisaragi.

     Naoto Ubu 
A dark gray-haired man.

Antagonists

    Rena Yakamashi 
A brown-haired woman.
  • Alpha Bitch: One of her most common roles is the popular kid who bullies the protagonist.
  • Abusive Parents: As an antagonist, she is more neglectful than abusive. Some episodes have her exploit her children for her own selfish needs.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Some episodes spell her name as Reina.
  • Punny Name: Her surname is a play on the Japanese word yakamashii (喧しい), which means "noisy", "boisterous" or "fastidious", fitting for someone who goes out of her way to brag and bully others.
  • Spoiled Brat: Many episodes have her playing this role. This is noticeable when she is depicted as Nano Nomaru's older/younger sister, as Rena is always the family's "golden child" in such stories.
  • Womanchild: She can be very childish.

     Sorao Akyu 
A red-haired man.
  • Dub Name Change: Some stories have his name changed to Skyler.
  • Mama's Boy: He often takes his mother's side even over his wife.
  • Youthful Freckles: He sports these and he is often put in the role of an immature, cowardly young man.
