Coney Dewclaw: I’m gonna be an aunt!
Harcourt Silvertip: And you don’t look a day over five.
Harcourt Silvertip: And you don’t look a day over five.
—Strip for January 9, 2017, when news went around of Lindesfarne Dewclaw's pregnancy, ultimately with Turvy Fuscus
These are the youngest characters in Kevin and Kell, generally the children of characters in the age cohorts of Lindesfarne Dewclaw-Fuscus and Rudy Dewclaw. The eldest of these characters are Angstrom Flambeau and Turvy Fuscus.
Turvy Fuscus (Bat/Hedgehog)
Lindesfarne and Fenton's daughter. Born in August 2017, a couple weeks early (but healthy) due to an issue at the summer camps.- All Genes Are Codominant: Despite Lindesfarne's prior concerns that her kids might end up human, Turvy was born as a bat with hedgehog spines.
- Badass Adorable: Although it didn't develop quite as instantaneously as it did with her Aunt Coney, Turvy has definitely exhibited this trait over time.
- Big Damn Heroes: She has had her moments:
- She once spiked a snake to save Onk from being eaten.
- And she once spiked a barn owl that had swiped Delphi.
- But We Used a Condom!: Her conception was unplanned, and was the result of a condom failure. Beyond the initial shock, her gestation was treated as the right time for her parents.
- Cheerful Child: She's an adorable little bathog and it shows.
- Children Are Innocent: Unlike Aunt Coney and her friends, she started out this way. For example, when an owl attacked, whereas Coney, Wendell, or Tyler likely would have kicked its ass, Turvy was just terrified, and wanted her mother. But over time, she has become more adventurous, going on a rogue flight to find out why Santa used reindeer instead of bats in the Christmas 2022 season (ca. age four).
- Crazy-Prepared: Apparently, she and Delphi made a plan just in case he was taken by a predator. They actually get to deploy it when a barn owl carries him off and it works perfectly.
- Cute Mute: While dialogue is not shown, Lindesfarne and Fenton have both said in the comic that, at age 3, Turvy does speak, it's just at a frequency higher than most other creatures can hear. Her speech had only been visible once at that point.
- It's been implied from March 2022 that Turvy can now more comfortably speak in audible frequencies thanks to coaching from Fenton.
- Diurnal Nocturnal Animal: As she turned five, Turvy began to develop a desire to be crepuscular so she wouldn't have to choose between her diurnal and nocturnal friends.
- From the Mouths of Babes:
- According to Fenton's thought bubbles, Kevin does not want to know what Turvy calls him as grandpa.
- Rudy was given pause when Turvy first referred to Fiona as Aunt Fiona even though they weren't even engaged (yet).
- Nom de Mom: Although Lindesfarne keeps her maiden name for professional reasons, Turvy was given Fenton's last name when she was born.
Angstrom Flambeau (Moth/Firefly)
Tammy and Ray's son. His light is even brighter than his father's.
- Retcon: Due to the fleeting appearances of Tammy and Ray, Angstrom's development has been extremely inconsistent. Despite hatching and pupating in 2002, his original moth wings were never shown for a very long time, and were eventually retconned so he was more like a full-blooded firefly like his dad. This was done with no in-canon explanation. In 2022, he was shown to be closer to Turvy's friends even though he was born before Francis, which should logically put him in Coney's circle of friends.
Onk Honk-Honk Honnnnk-Ny-Nk Honk "Onk" and "Ack" (Canadian Geese)
"Onk" is the son of "Father Goose", aka "Honk". "Ack" is the daughter Father Goose and his current mate, who is referred to as "Mother Goose". As their family was connected to the Fuscus-Dewclaw family pretty much from Onk's hatching, Onk and Turvy have become very close friends.- Big Brother Instinct: Onk was very excited when Ack's egg was laid, and has been involved in her hatching and upbringing.
- Comic-Book Time: In terms of the gestation of Onk's half-sister, this is averted. In the OTL, Canadian geese take 24-32 days to hatch from laying. Her egg was laid on January 20, 2022, and she hatched on February 19 (30 days).
- Missing Mom: Onk's mother was taken by Herd Thinners before he hatched. Honk put his egg in Bentley Kindle's protection during a flight, and Bentley used a printout of Honk's face when Onk hatched so he would imprint correctly.
- Puppy Love: Turvy and Onk very quickly became friends, and a Flash Forward showed them potentially getting married someday. This was lampshaded in their first meeting, when Turvy actually took hatchling Onk for a flight in a very familiar fashion.Fenton: (to Lindesfarne) That's weird. Turvy never actually saw us doing that...
- The Unpronounceable:
- First invoked for Onk's native nameLindesfarne: How about "Onk" for short?
Honk: That's our word for "stomach gas emitted in flight" but sure, let's go with that. - Ack's native name, while not yet certainly noted, is said to be similarly unpronounceable.
- First invoked for Onk's native name
Carla Chameleon (Chameleon)
After Bruno and Corrie found out natural childbirth would not be a good idea for them due to genetic defects with Corrie, they sought adoption. They took the first available child, which was a young chameleon that was giving previous foster parents issues due to constantly disappearing during changing. It was later revealed that Carla's parents were eaten before she hatched. Her egg was found by Ophelia right as she was hatching, and Ophelia fostered her before she was forced to turn her in to an adoption agency because of the fur traders pursuing her.- Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Like many of the other reptiles in the strip, Carla oftentimes only wears partial bits of clothing if not going entirely natural.
- Big Damn Heroes: Despite being an infant, she manages to save Onk's father and all the other geese being rounded up by Herd Thinners, even tripping the delivery driver when he tried to round them up again.
- Cute Mute: Downplayed. Although she hasn't been shown speaking in the comic yet at age three, Corrie told Fiona that Carla does speak when she's comfortable.
- Happily Adopted: Both first by Ophelia as a newly-hatched baby and then later on by Corrie and Bruno.
- The Trickster: Likes to squirm away and hide during changing. She even managed to hide in one of Bruno's horns. (Turvy did something similar to him as well. He seems a little oblivious to matters like one horn weighing more than the other.)
Savanna (Rhino/Lion)
Daughter and first child of Leona and Carl. She has fur and a tail like a lion, but her muzzle hides a retractable rhino horn, and she is also pretty large. Her size resulted in her being born a couple weeks early by C-section.- Daddy's Girl: Like mother, like daughter
- Excellent Judge of Character: Apparently she was born with this gift, as she deployed her horn when seeing Angelique on TV.
- Also comes into play when Ophelia watches over her as a nanny. Savanna gives one longing look at Leona and then snuggles into Ophelia's arms without unleashing her horn, showing how much she already trusts her.
- Extreme Omnivore: Already demonstrated to have tastes for both meat and plants
- LEGO Genetics: A rare (but not unprecedented) example of a child that conspicuously has traits of both her parents. She was very big for a newborn, taking after her rhino father, but visibly turned out very leonine, including tail, fur, and ears. The game-breaker app is the retractable horn.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: Oh so adorable. With the horn and the dual dietary tastes, definitely has future Badass Adorable capability.
Delphi (Virginia Opossum)
Delphi is one of Turvy's classmates at her crepuscular kindergarten.- Ambiguous Gender: Due to Delphi having no Tertiary Sexual Characteristics (true to life for actual opossums) and no pronouns being used, it was made unclear what gender they were at first. His mother eventually referred to him as her "son" in a later strip.
- Meaningful Name: The order that opossums are in is Didelphimorphia.
- Playing Possum: Delphi did this the first time they met RudyTurvy: Delphi, it’s just my uncle, here for pickup!
Delphi: Where is he, inside the wolf's stomach? - Remember the New Guy?: Invoked in Delphi's first comic. He said while he's normally nocturnal, he sometimes appears in daytime when Playing Possum, and Turvy said she recognized him.
- Thrill Seeker: Delphi seems to have this trait, as he enjoys grabbing Turvy's ankles with his tail so she can take him flying. This definitely freaks his mother out.
