Children of the Void

    General
  • Always Chaotic Evil: Among the few factions in the Codexverse where virtually all of the members are unapologetically and unambiguously malicious to all others, seeking the destruction of all life and the universe on behalf of their master the Void Sovereign. Later subverted, however, as it's revealed this only applies to the group that follows the fallen Void Sovereign, as another faction of them continues their original goal as destroyers of planets that either cannot support life or have become so corrupt and wicked that destruction is necessary to save the universe.
  • Antimatter: The Children of the Void draw their power from 'Anti-Mana,' the antimatter counterpart of mana.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: They revel in their role and in their hatred and contempt of all existence.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even the Children of the Void draw the line when it comes to their renegade brethren Void Killer, on account of him being a destruction-loving/obsessed hedonist so utterly insane and extreme that he wanted to destroy even himself on top of all existence. Though that's mostly because his ultimate goal includes killing off all the Children of the Void and their master the Void Sovereign.
  • Fatal Flaw: Overconfidence. They sees themselves as superior and the outcome they're trying to bring as inevitable, so they often cannot conceive the possibility that they might lose or fail before their 'pitiful' opponents, which are often either stronger than they expected or waste no time taking advantage of their mistakes to overcome them.
  • From a Single Cell: One of the things that made them so particularly dangerous is that they can come back from almost any level of destruction so long as even the tiniest traces of their essence survives. Their total defeat requires the heroes to not only kill their physical form, but also contain and eliminate any trace of their existence in the nearby vicinity before they could escape and regenerate.
  • Hypocrite: They are smug, nihilistic entities who seek the destruction of all life... just so as long "all life" doesn't include themselves. This makes their opposition of Void Killer extremely hypocritical.
  • Smug Super: Consistent portrayed as being intensely arrogant and haughty in their power, believing themselves better and stronger to those they are out to destroy and often rub their superiority to their opponents' faces. This is generally either proven wrong in the end or have their complacency and over-confidence taken advantage of by the heroes, resulting in their defeats.

    Void Killer, the Doomsday Beast

Character: Villainous

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Type: Child of the Void, Visitor, Destroyer, Cosmic Horror, Living Cataclysm

'Faction: Himself, Children of the Void (Former)

"This planet... this universe... I will destroy it all! Let's all go out with a BANG!"

Void Killer (his entry here) is an "older brother" of Void Traveler, and a hedonistic, insane monster who loved the idea of death so much that he nearly succeeded in taking both Equus and the entire universe with him.

    Void Traveler

Character: Villain

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Type: Destroyer/Nihilist/Parasitic Entity

Faction: Church of the Void

"We were going to destroy ourselves eventually anyway, why not go out to the one thing that will live on? The Void calls and it's time to listen and disappear! Ciao!"

Void Traveler (his entry here) is a member of the Church of the Void and is a nihilistic entity who seeks the destruction of all life.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's unclear if he's actually the pony known as 'Void Traveler' or if he was merely possessed by some eldritch horror from deep space.
  • Birds of a Feather: The reason why he was one of the few villains who could get along and even ally with the utterly evil Queen Dark Crystal. Both are respectively Omnicidal Maniacs and Animalistic Abominations who desire the destruction of Equus/Tellus, albeit for different reasons - Void Traveler just wants everything destroyed, while Dark Crystal desires to recreate the world as a world of evil to serve as her playground.
  • Body Surf: So long as a piece of him remained, he could possess another host and regenerate. The only way that could kill him for real is if his entire body was destroyed down to its atoms.
  • The Dragon: Turns out to be this to the Void Sovereign.
  • Expy: Of Evolt.
  • Enemy Mine: Void Traveler considers Void Killer to be such a threat to him, the Children of the Void and the Void Sovereign that he's willing to work with the heroes of Tellus - especially his unexpected and estranged spawn Dragon Rider - to defeat him first before he would consider going back to try and blow up the planet himself.
  • From a Single Cell: So long as anything of him remains, he could potentially regenerate his entire body. Thus it required obliterating his entire body down to the atom to finally kill him.
  • The Heavy: While loyal to the Void Sovereign, the Void Sovereign wasn't a direct threat for much of the age and it wasn't until Traveler was dead that he actually arrived.
  • Killed Off for Real: Finally met his end at the end of the Second Age, at the climax of the Void Aeon, when the heroes and gods of the era manages to trap him and utterly destroy both his host body and every trace of his existence, ensuring he won't regenerate and ending his centuries-spanning campaign of terror and destruction once-and-for-all.
  • Noodle Incident: Had developed an antagonistic relationship with the Mignons over an incident involving 'A black hole generator, a faulty motherboard, an oil painting and a metric tonne of spaghetti' at some point in the Second Age.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Sought to destroy all of Equus, and served the Void Sovereign who desire the destruction of everything.
  • Power of the Void: Had the ability to create and manipulate black holes.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: While he was killed off by the combined forces of Equus' heroes, he still succeeded in paving the way for his master, the Void Sovereign, to begin his rampage.
