* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Among the few factions in the Codexverse where virtually all of the members are unapologetically and unambiguously malicious to all others, seeking the destruction of all life and the universe [[spoiler:on behalf of their master the Void Sovereign]]. Later subverted, however, as it's revealed this only applies to the group [[spoiler:that follows the fallen Void Sovereign]], as another faction of them continues their original goal as destroyers of planets that either cannot support life or have become so corrupt and wicked that destruction is necessary to save the universe.
* {{Antimatter}}: The Children of the Void draw their power from 'Anti-Mana,' the antimatter counterpart of mana.
* CardCarryingVillain: They revel in their role and in their hatred and contempt of all existence.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Even the Children of the Void draw the line when it comes to their renegade brethren Void Killer, on account of him being a destruction-loving/obsessed hedonist so utterly insane and extreme that he wanted to destroy even ''himself'' on top of all existence. Though that's mostly because his ultimate goal includes killing off all the Children of the Void [[spoiler:and their master the Void Sovereign]].
* FatalFlaw: Overconfidence. They sees themselves as superior and the outcome they're trying to bring as inevitable, so they often cannot conceive the possibility that they might lose or fail before their 'pitiful' opponents, which are often either stronger than they expected or waste no time taking advantage of their mistakes to overcome them.
* FromASingleCell: One of the things that made them so particularly dangerous is that they can come back from almost any level of destruction so long as even the tiniest traces of their essence survives. Their total defeat requires the heroes to not only kill their physical form, but also contain and eliminate any trace of their existence in the nearby vicinity before they could escape and regenerate.
* {{Hypocrite}}: They are smug, nihilistic entities who seek the destruction of all life... just so as long "all life" doesn't include ''themselves''. This makes their opposition of Void Killer extremely hypocritical.
* SmugSuper: Consistent portrayed as being intensely arrogant and haughty in their power, believing themselves better and stronger to those they are out to destroy and often rub their superiority to their opponents' faces. This is generally [[BreakTheHaughty either proven wrong in the end]] or have their complacency and over-confidence [[StupidEvil taken advantage of by the heroes]], resulting [[EvilWillFail in their defeats]].

Both are respectively {{Omnicidal Maniac}}s and {{Animalistic Abomination}}s who desire the destruction of Equus/Tellus, albeit for different reasons - Void Traveler just wants everything destroyed, while Dark Crystal desires to recreate the world as a world of evil to serve as her playground.
* BodySurf: So long as a piece of him remained, he could possess another host and regenerate. The only way that could kill him for real is if his entire body was destroyed down to its atoms.
* TheDragon: Turns out to be this to the Void Sovereign.
