Proof that the remaining 10% is worth becoming one with the Force for here:

These are recommendations made by tropers for Fan Fics set in the galaxy far, far away, all of which have been signed. After a few samples, you will be able to judge whether you might be interested in the 'fic, based on who recommended it. No-name recommendations will be blasted. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

The Dark Jedi Brotherhood

  • One of the oldester Star Wars fan clubs on the internet, this group was founded in 1995, before even the Prequel trilogy came out, and has endured as a community ever since. Members create their own characters using complex DnD-esque mechanics, equip them with unique gear, and engage in a 25-year old storyline surrounding the eponymous Brotherhood - a coalition of different Force-wielding groups operating in the shadows of the Star Wars galaxy. In addition to writing, there are systems for fan-art, gaming, role-playing, and more.

Originaltrilogy.com

  • Recommended by Decaf Grub 47393
  • This site is famous for the fanmade restoration of the Original Trilogy from actual 35mm prints, and that is just the beginning. They've also restored the 97SE, Phantom Menace and even non-Star Wars media such as Song of the South and Godzilla1985. Not only do this site do stunning 4K restorations, it's userbase also made a wide variety of Star Wars fanworks of all types including fanedits.

The Force.net Fanfic Archive

  • Recommended by fdsa1234567890
  • While it hasn't been updated for a decade as of 2020, this was a curated archive of the best fanfiction from TheForce.net forums from before then. Generally of fairly high quality, and with a fairly large number of OCs.

Ash Darklighter

  • Recommended by: Falcon Arrow
  • If it's written by Ash Darklighter and it's Star Wars, it goes here. Seriously. Out of the Shadows is this troper's first recommendation, as it requires almost no Expanded Universe knowledge to get started and the only AU element is that Yoda didn't die. (The opening scene is immediately after a novel set right after Return of the Jedi, but isn't consequential and is eventually explained later.) After deciding that he's only half-trained and that the Jedi will need him full time in order to return, Luke disappears from the Galaxy... three years later, Force sensitives are beginning to emerge from the shadows, but what's become of the last Jedi Knight? The other Ash Darklighter recommendations are The Emerald Price (note that chapters 31 onward in this entry) and Spirit of the Shifting Sands. The former recommendation is for when it's revealed just how far Luke will go for someone he cares about... and the latter for a rather nasty revelation about what part of the New Republic hierarchy thinks of Luke Skywalker's desire to truly fight for peace and justice instead of being a "tame Jedi" at their beck and call, a common theme in Darklighter's work... they gave the Imperial Remnant personal data on the Rebellion's war hero and permission to take him down.

The Darth Side: Memoirs of a Monster

Kelaria

  • Recommended by: Progeny Ex Machina, janeseternity
  • Kelaria's fics masterfully blend humor and drama while seamlessly working in the most ridiculous concepts. You may recognize her former username from one of the recs listed below, Bad Boys: JEDI Style, but her other works deserve mentioning as well. She focuses mostly on the time periods and events shown in the movies and doesn't delve too deeply into the EU, but instead crafts her own visions of what happens offscreen, which are engaging without carrying the risk of Continuity Lockout. Whether you're into AU or canon, fluffy or intense fics, doorstoppers or shorter works, Kelaria has something for you in everything she writes.

  • Recommended by: ayy, Fiwen 9430
  • I've cried at a couple of these fics.
    • Fiwen: All her fics are wonderful, but special mention goes to Equally Cursed and Blessed, an OT AU novella which starts just after Bespin when Luke is captured on a mission. It is described as "shameless Luke & Vader", but a lot of other characters have decent sized roles.

Princess Leia's Stolen Death Star Plans

ruth baulding

  • Recommended by: derry667
  • If you are not a fan of Obi-Wan Kenobi as a character, then these are definitely not the fics you're looking for. Move along. Move along.
    • On the other hand, if you view him as the true hero of the Star Wars saga, then this amazingly prolific author probably has a few in her catalogue that you'll enjoy. First appearing on fanfiction.net in October 2011, she produced more than 50 fics in the following year (including one-shots and multi-chapter epics) and appears to be still going at the same frenetic pace and the fics are all well written (a few typos probably due to the rapid output notwithstanding). One fic is actually labelled "shameless immoderate h/c", but the author would probably admit that h/c and angst are pretty much her stock-in-trade and the writing style does involve quite a bit of florid prose, quite similar to the Matt Stover novelisation of Revenge of the Sith - but the many fics are still quite varied in style and chronicle Obi-Wan's life from early childhood to the desert on Tatooine a few years after Order 66. His dry and slightly dark sense of humour is well captured. The Snark-to-Snark Combat with Anakin (and others) is hilarious. Action scenes flow easily. The narration is unashamedly biased towards the author's favourite character, but enjoyably savvy and she seems to like toying with various Tropes, and deftly blends Foreshadowing and Dramatic Irony with often heartbreaking effects. But I reiterate, only suitable for pro-Kenobi readers. If you don't sympathise with the character, then the shameless lauding of his many virtues will probably annoy you.
    • May or may not actually be Karen Miller.
    • Seconded! Rb's fanfics are amazingly written, and some of the best Star Wars fics this troper has ever read. Definitely worth a read. However, she sadly seems to have disappeared from ff.net; regardless, there are almost 100 stories to choose from, all but two completed.
    • Her main series now has a tropes page in need of work here.

The Vast Empire

  • Recommended by: Ugolino
  • A forum focused on fiction about the Empire. More specifically, writers compose "posts" that make up group stories about stormtroopers, fighter pilots, and smugglers affiliated with an Imperial Remnant group called the "Vast Empire". The setting's currently in the last days of the Thrawn era, with the Vast Empire plotting to retake Coruscant. Some of the longer stories can be quite good, especially the "HSC" group stories. Stories are here, and there's a chat and in-universe newspaper.

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

     Prequel Trilogy

The Anakin and Palpatine Letters by ArwenMUC

  • Recommened by: LL
  • Status: Dead
  • Synopsis: You guessed it, Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Epistolary recounting of the events of the prequels, from the end of The Phantom Menace through the beginning of Revenge of the Sith.
  • Comments: Each chapter is a separate letter, on the order of Anakin writing one and Palpatine's response. Some of the details are fudged (Anakin mentioning that Obi-Wan gave him some time off to go free his mother, in what would have been about four years before Attack of the Clones, but it works nonetheless. The author does a superb job of capturing Anakin's essential naivete (and essential anger) immediately following the Battle of Naboo, as well as Palpatine's essential creepiness; he has all the false-bravado of a politician (not to mention the whole Sith Lord thing). It so borders on the verge of Ho Yay/statutory weirdness, and this author bets you one US dollar that your flesh won't crawl after reading at least three of Palpatine's letters. Yet, sort of like a movie about the Hindenburg we know it doesn't end well, but damn is it fun seeing another spin on the subject.

A Small Gesture of Great Impact by ekrolo2

  • Recommended by Indalecio
  • Status: Complete

Before the Dark Times by Phillipe363

  • Recommended by: Tropeaddict
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis:Anakin Skywalker rescued from slavery becomes a Jedi Knight and does his best to protect the galaxy alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi, a fellow Jedi Knight. Anakin and Obi-Wan are hardly ever apart, they are as close as brothers. Then Senator Amidala gets attacked, the Clone Wars start and everything changes. War sends the Jedi down a path of darkness, a Chancellor is gaining more power and an interest in Anakin who is struggling now more than ever. One shall fall, one shall survive and one shall be broken. An Empire shall rise and a Dark Lord of the Sith shall be born.
  • Comments: This is a fix it fic for the prequels and it is done well. There are few head scratching moments and such like you would find anywhere else. But the story is solid,we actually get to see Anakin and Obi-Wan being friends and Anakin/Padme doesn't have the creepy factor from the films. This sets up the OT films, leaving almost nothing out and then some but with not over doing it on characters the story doesn't need. Fair warning, you might need a tissue box to.

  • Synopsis: Padmé Amidala lives. Padmé wakes to the back of Obi-Wan’s head, his hair mussed and his arms spread, outstretched over her knees as though to shield her from all that would come. (Too late, Padmé thinks, feeling the dull ache around her throat, where phantom hands tightened. Much too late for that now.)

  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: When Shmi Skywalker was thirty seven years old, she went out into the desert... Pre-TPM, the story of Anakin's conception and birth in a Tatooine context.
  • Comments: I like! It makes sense that the slaves on Tatooine have a spiritual bent... It also casts Sandstorm, a comic in which a young Luke is lost in the desert and aided by a vision of his father as a child, in a different light.
    • Seconded, it's a great introduction to Fia's Tatooine Slave Culture headcanons, and an enjoyable read all on it's own.

Cloak of Deception, The Approaching Storm and Labyrinth of Evil by HAL 9000.

  • Recommended by: Decaf Grub 47393
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: This trilogy delivers a re-crafted perspective of the Prequels in keeping with the drive of the original trilogy of films. Unnecessary 'galaxy shrinking' cameos from classic characters have been cut down or removed.
  • Comments: Another notable prequel Fix Fic, this fanedited trilogy stays true to canon with the exception of Padme surviving, but even then that's done for consistency with the Original Trilogy.

Coalesced Matter by Mirror and Image

  • Recommended by: janeseternity
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Jedi Master Dooku is in a long-term undercover assignment with slow but steady progress. But he gets a distress call from this Knight Kenobi with a Padawan Skywalker and things just start to go crazy.
  • Comments: This story really does a great job of looking at Dooku as a Jedi and examining how it was he could have fallen. It also has a really great sort of ‘outsider’s perspective’ on Anakin and Obi-Wan. The writing is really clear and easy to read, and the story itself is fairly short, only seven chapters, so you don’t have to feel like your dedicating way too much of your life to reading it. The plot itself is also fun and very well done, even though I feel like the main focus is the characters, which I enjoyed.

Dragonslayer, by Fern Withy

  • Rec'd by Joysweeper
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Twelve-year-old Luke Skywalker comes face to face with a krayt dragon.
  • Comments: This was written before Revenge of the Sith and does go with the general assumption that Padme didn't die immediately after giving birth. But it does stay vague about that. Krayt dragons here seem significantly less formidable than in other interpretations. In this fic, Luke has a sheer messianic level of compassion that's rather sweet.

Empty by DarthIshtar

  • Recc'd by: Joysweeper and RK Striker JK 5
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Inspired by the ending scenes of ROTS, this is the story of why Bail and his Queen "always talked about adopting a baby girl."
  • Comments: It's so sad and sweet. Never really answers the Fridge Logic of why, in a galaxy where there are several different ways to make a clone, they can't get around infertility, but if you suspend disbelief it's just a little bit heartbreaking.

  • Pairings: None yet, but lots of Ship Tease
  • While this troper has seen other fics with a similar premise, this is probably the best one he has seen so far. The main character's flaws often cause understandable friction with the Jedi Council.
Now has a Tropes Page in need of wiki magic love.

Forcestone: Guardian of Light by ForceForGood

  • Synopsis: The stone Qui-Gon found in the River of Light is as extraordinary as the men and women destined to bear it. See the events following Ep. 1 through the eyes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, in this AU in which Qui-Gon survives to train Anakin. Obi-centric novel-length story featuring Ani, Qui, Siri, Padme, Shmi, OC.
  • Comments: Very well written. The author's goal in writing this story is to, in their words, 'correct inconsistencies in the characters in Star Wars, while preserving everything that makes Star Wars so great'.

Yoda's Shadow and Shadows of the Sith, V2 by amthyst-fire

  • Recommended by: Krisnack, Somariel
  • Status: Book 1 Complete, Book 2 Dead (last updatedNovember 2014)
  • Synopsis: Via an act of the Force, Luke, Leia and, a redeemed Vader are transported back in time just before the events of The Phantom Menace. Palpatine's plans are about to hit a very big roadblock.
  • Comments: It gets off to a rocky start, but the writing quality quickly improves. Among the highlights are Yoda and Mace Windu discussing plans to renew the Jedi order, Luke getting slapped by Padme after he reveals that she's his mother, and Obi-Wan catching Darth Maul's severed arm and realizing that it was little Anakin who cut it off.
    • 'Quickly'? This troper got nine chapters in and gave up. The writing is choppy and tends towards a lot of As You Know in both dialogue and the narrative, and the character interactions feel horribly rushed and unrealistic. Maybe it hits its stride once they get to Naboo, but everything so far has been head/desk worthy.
    • I read it and found it meh. It had a good idea, but, like it's sequel, it could have been so much more.
    • Yoda's Shadow is somewhat meh, and the original version of the sequel is just as much so, but Shadows of the Sith, V2 (now linked in the heading) is outstanding.

For The Right Price by ShaeTiann

  • Synopsis: During the Battle of Naboo, Obi-Wan Kenobi fell, reaching for the Dark Side to defeat Darth Maul; his actions saved the life of Qui-Gon Jinn, but he was ultimately cast from the Jedi Order for his failure. Twelve years later, Anakin Skywalker and Rex encounter a familiar face while seeking aid behind enemy lines.
  • Comments: Wonderful characterization that blends aspects of the new Canon and the Legends EU, detailed world-building and avoids all bashing normally found in Dark Side fics. Definitely well worth a read.

(Or, the AU where the third Naberrie daughter is a Jedi, Padmé offers Naboo as a sanctuary for runaway slaves, Shmi is a conductor on the Tatooine freedom trail, and Anakin jump starts a reformation. Or maybe a heresy. It all depends on your point of view.)

Hindsight Is Not Perfect, The Dangers of Foresight, and The Inevitability of Oversight'' by Anne Camp aka Obi-quiet

  • Status: Complete, Complete, Ongoing
  • Recommended by pisoprano, Kthe Cloud
  • Synopsis: It has been said that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions and the road back a difficult, slippery slope. Now Anakin has to face himself and his choices, avoid the suspicion of everyone from the Jedi Council to Palpatine and try to prevent the future from turning out as badly as it did before all while somehow finding a way to balance the Force...again. Time Travel.
  • Comments: This series is simply awesome. It delves into the psyche of Anakin and shows how hard it really is for him to resist the Dark Side after being swamped in it for so long. And it isn't just Anakin that gets the psychoanalysis: because he isn't the 9-year-old of the previous timeline, most of the other characters have to examine their own beliefs as well. The series tends to be lighter on the action scenes, but there is plenty of wonderful character development to make up for that.
    • I'm surprised that the words "slow burn" have not been mentioned yet. At one point, I skipped ahead five or six chapters in the sequel to read the author's note (not because I was bored, because I wanted to see if there was a listed reason for not updating in a few months). A plot summary was listed. Nothing consequential happened to change the plot in those few chapters. That said, this is hardly an issue. There is a very slow burn indeed, but it's because of how much Anakin has on his plate. No scene feels skippable, and a timeskip would, at this point in the story, feel like a cop-out. It is extremely well-written and well-researched. (I especially like the focus brought to the seven forms of saber fighting.) The author is clearly very well-versed in the Star Wars expanded universe, which makes the fic very easy to delve into. The slow plot does not mean there is none. What is there is very realistic. Most of the focus is spent delving into characterization, and it is very well done. 5/5

  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A peaceful mission develops some unforeseen complications, and Qui-Gon Jinn learns something new about Obi-Wan Kenobi, and something new about himself.
  • Comments: It sounds like slash. It's on a Jedi slash archive. It hints at slash, and Obi-Wan happens to be bisexual, and this version of the Jedi order allows relationships at any level. It builds up very slowly to a point where slash seems inevitable. It's not slash. Still, not a bad story. Very quiet and comfortable.

He Believes

  • Recommended by Elenor
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: An AU story where Vader won on Mustafar told from the point of view of Obi-Wan Kenobi. You haven't seen this before, no matter how familiar it sounds.

Phantom Menace: The Unauthorized Rewrite by Veriform.

  • Recommended by: Sepirahkt
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A recent take on the Phantom Menace according to the writer's disdain for midichlorians, Jar-Jar Binks, 14-year-old elected Queens and a universe in which Palpatine succeeds in his endeavors by virtue of being a moderately intelligent man surrounded by idiots. Senator Padme and Queen Amidala are separate characters, Anakin is a bit older and Dooku and Grievous get to share the limelight with the film's heroes. Complete.
  • Comments: Anyone wanting to get a look at a better thought-out version of events presented in the prequels should really check this one out. It starts out adhering fairly closely to the script, and then all hell gradually breaks loose. The plotline concerning Qymaen jai Shaleel's transformation into General Grievous is a particularly enjoyable addition, and Darth Maul's brief perspective chapters are chillingly deranged.
    • This troper tried liking it, but there are too many breaking factors that keep it from being likable. It jumps all over the place in too little time, is Darker and Edgier and Bloodier and Gorier for the sake of being so rather than adding realism, is far too short compared to the movie, and feels more like it was written by a sore, anti-Prequel fan than someone who actually has the series' interest at heart. It, as well as the other two later rewrites (which are arguably worse), simply does not feel like a Star Wars story in any way, shape or form and is not for everyone, especially if you even remotely liked the Prequels.
      • It's now collected (with some pretty big edits) on Archive of Our Own as Veriform's 'Star Wars' and the author is writing the original trilogy, too.

Attack of the Clones the Unauthorized Rewrite by Veriform

  • Recommended by: Sepirahkt
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The sequel to Veriform's first Unauthorized Rewrite, and things get considerably darker. The galaxy is embroiled in a bitter, no-holds-barred military conflict as Anakin, hero of prophecy, is drawn deeper into a web of deception and danger. AotC deviates far more significantly from its source material than PM, and also wisely incorporates some elements of Tartakovsky's Clone Wars miniseries. A worthy successor to the first installment. Complete.

Revenge of the Sith the Unauthorized Rewrite by Veriform

  • Recommended by: MelmothTheWanderer

  • Synopsis: A dark and bloody overhaul of the third prequel. This one deviates more substantially from established canon, but that really just helps it stand out on its own. • Synopsis: Obi-Wan Kenobi does not manage to grab the cliff's edge while in his fight against Grievous on Utapau, and falls to a sinkhole. This prevents him from telling Mace Windu about the events in the planet, so when he makes the call it is Anakin who receives it (as Windu has left to arrest Palpatine). After Obi-Wan manages to set Anakin straight on the Palpatine issue, Anakin manages to save Windu from being killed by the Emperor and between both of them they kick the Emperor out of the window. This radically changes the course of the war, as the Republic has to face the problems that come from the fact that their leader was also behind the Separatists' rebellion...
  • Comments: very good story, which manages to give a happy ending but without it feeling forced, as well as producing interesting parallels with the Original Trilogy.

  • Synopsis: Sabé is an ordinary girl whose dream has just come true: She has been chosen as one of Queen Amidala's handmaidens. However, she quickly discovers that being a handmaiden is harder than she thought with headstrong Queens, suspicious Jedi, and an invasion to deal with.
  • Comments: This story is told from the point of view of Sabe, Padme’s decoy, and follows her (mis)adventures as she tries to deal with the events of the Phantom Menace. Sabe comes across as very funny and very human. The story also doesn’t feel a retread of the movie, because while the main plot points are the same, Sabe’s focus is different. The author says it’s an AU, but it’s not, really. There are also several chapters in the story where the comma usage is completely wrong. But if you can ignore that, it’s a fun story that expands on minor characters really well.
    • Seconded! The fic can meander at times but overall it's a fun story. The author does an excellent job of taking the handmaidens and making them all have different personalities. The story has two sequels, which cover Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and they are pretty good too.

  • Synopsis: AU. The life of General Kenobi is cut short at the hands of his Padawan, but the sight that greets his eyes upon awakening is not that of blinding light of the Force, but the Jedi Temple he knew when he was still a youth. Slow updates - no joke.
  • Comments: As far as I can tell this is the only Star Wars time travel fic out there. Basically time travel done right, none of that "travel back in time and fix everything" fics. Obi-Wan is pretty much a mess after being killed and finding himself alive, he makes mistakes and pays for them. And no, the author isn't kidding about slow updates.

  • Synopsis: Being an account, in pastiche style, of a boy whose story may or may not be the embodiment of the hero’s journey, and who therefore encounters a call to adventure, a wise advisor, a mystical weapon, a road of trials, a rogue, a princess, and a villain (in that order); and who, over the course of fighting an evil empire, finds himself attaining his goals, both symbolic and literal. In space.
  • Comments: Star Wars as written by Victor Hugo. A Les Mis pastiche set in a Galaxy Far Far Away, this is a work of pure genius with an amazing attention to details and characterizations. A 'must read' for all Star Wars (and Les Mis) fans!

  • Synopsis: Considering that he had picked up what was probably a Sith artifact, promptly passed out in the middle of a war zone, and apparently woken up twenty years in the future with Obi-Wan having taken up residence in his head, Anakin thought he was entitled to have a few questions. (Time travel, alternate universe, and then parallel universes.)
  • Comments: A different twist on the "Somebody goes back in time from the original movie timeline to the prequel timeline and creates an AU" premise. (To expand on the twist further would spoil it.) Suffice to say, instead of glossing over or lampshading the potential for chaos that this sort of time travel could potentially cause, this fic is all about the chaos. It doesn't have a happy ending, but despite my preference for happy endings, that's one of the reasons I liked it so much. Part one of a series of stories (the second story, Queen's Gambit), but it can be read on its own.
    • Wake The Storm is the first of the Ouroboros series, which now has its own trope page.

  • Comments: There's still plenty of plot details that needs to be smoothed out, and the delivery can admittedly be pretty narm-y at times, but the ideas presented are pretty solid. If Lucasfilm had used these material to build build their trilogy, the prequels might not have been as maligned as it had been. Has a trope page.

The Desert Storm by Blue_Sunshine

  • Status: Complete
  • An Epic-length fanfic series revolving around an Obi-Wan who time-travelled from four years post ROTS to the Jedi Apprentice days and took his younger self as his padawan. Everything changes. This series draws from both Legends and Disney Canon, using both to great effect. Split into multiple different story arcs, it's worth sitting down for a few days to get lost in the world that it offers. Updates are relatively frequent, so you don't have to wait too long for a new chapter. This series has awesomeness in spades and a little something for everyone. Now has a trope page: The Desert Storm
  • Comments: Filled with Time-Travel, Fix-It (maybe?) weirdness, the story’s greatest strength, and primary focus is on its world-building. Seriously, the world this story built, expanded upon, and re-imagined will quickly usurp canon and spoil you for all other Star Wars fiction. Even the characters are more fleshed out (and consequently more realistic) than their canon counterparts. On the other hand, the story is broken up into pieces, and especially in the beginning, the time jumps in-between them can be jarring. And a consequence of this world-focused series is that the plot moves at a slow, meandering pace. But when the plot is the focus of the story, the Sith never looked so terrifyingly competent. -kgdragoon

This backfires catastrophically on one front and succeeds on the other. It's quite true to Aaron Allston's style and characterization of these two pilots. And it features one of my favorite Spoof Aesops of all time, and this exchange.
"Right. So I'm being forced by you to drink my weight in whiskey in order to prove wrong a perception of me that you yourself created."

  • Synopsis: A series of one-shots set in a universe where Vader turned double agent for the Rebellion about three years after ROTS, and Leia is now his primary contact with the Rebellion.
  • Comments: This is an amazing series. Manages to work things into canon superbly to the point it doesn't toss out canon completely out the window. At least, not yet, as the author has admitted to plans to change things ultimately around the point of ESB. There is also a tag of Double Agent Vader musings on Fialleril's tumblr that's worth checking out.

  • Comments: A great Leia-centric story based on the new Star Wars canon, featuring Canon!Leia from between a New Hope and Empire Strikes Back finding herself having switched places with an alternate Leia from a world in which Anakin Skywalker never turned to the darkside, and all the craziness that ensues from that. • Synopsis: Remember the race on Tatooine known as the Tusken Raiders - aka the Sandpeople? (If not, go here) Well, in this "What if?" scenario, Luke Skywalker, instead of being raised by his aunt and uncle, was taken in by the Tuskens. Also, a very creative and in-depth (though not canon) look at the Tusken culture. Despite the major plot twist, stays surprisingly true to the movies.
  • Notes: To avoid some slight confusion, I thought I'd explain that the Tuskens bear two names in their lifetimes- one given to them by their parents, and one they give themselves at their Adulthood Ceremony. The childhood names are always one word, while the adult names contain two words. For example, before her Ceremony, the character Wind-Dancer was called "Cubling". As for which name Luke was given... I'll let you figure that out for yourself.

  • Synopsis: An introspective piece interpreting the relationship between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker in the Original Trilogy, in light of Revenge of the Sith.
  • Comments: The best exploration of how Luke came to believe that there is still good in his father that I've ever seen. Involves a little of Shadows of the Empire. The fic name comes from a line in the RoTS novelization - "The dark is generous, and it is patient and it always wins; but in the heart of its strength lies weakness: one lone candle is enough to hold it back. Love is more than a candle. Love can ignite the stars." I do think it falters a little at the end, but I enjoyed it all the same.

  • Synopsis: A down-on-his-luck Hondo Ohnaka manages to capture the unicorn of all bounties—Luke Skywalker, which sends Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, on a painfully familiar trip to the planet Florrum to collect his prize. The failed negotiations leave Vader in the awkward position of being stuck in a besieged pirate bunker, trying to balance keeping his wayward child safe (and in his custody) with controlling the tongue of a loose-lipped pirate who—to the surprise of no one—has a bad habit of telling 'amusing' anecdotes from the Clone Wars.
  • Comments: Not only is the premise just as hilarious and awesome as it sounds, we have some great interactions between Luke and Vader, as well as great interactions between both Luke and Vader with Hondo. And not only do we get some nice continuity nods to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but this fanfic also brings in a character from the new rebooted Disney-canon universe from the 2015 comics, Doctor Aphra. Everyone is delightfully in character, and the story feels like it came straight out of one of the comics or tv shows.

  • Synopsis: An AU story where, instead of safely flying off in his TIE fighter after the destruction of the Death Star, Darth Vader crashes not far from rebel base. The catch? He has total amnesia.
  • Comments: This is definitely one of the best fanfictions I've ever read.
    • I wouldn't go that far, but ... it was interesting. I do think just about everyone came to trust Vader too quickly, even if he was totally amnesiac - even the ones who started off suspicious changed their minds abruptly when the time came. There was no reason whatsoever for the traitor to use a scarf with the Imperial insignia. There was no reason for the traitor to be revealed to be an admiral; a mere agent would have been plenty. Finding an N-1 starfighter just as two characters were talking about how incredibly rare those were was gratuitous. Boba Fett as the Emperor's replacement apprentice struck me as rather stupid. This was written before Episode Three, so it's reasonable that Vader's not quite as cybernetic, but the reasoning for why they couldn't change his faceplate was flawed. ...Still, still, it's not bad at all. I really liked the medic, and Luke was good.

  • Snopsis: This is the last day of Leia Organa's life. From a certain point of view.
  • Comments: The meaning of that is the moment when she stops being the Princess, the daughter of a pacifistic diplomat, and really is the child of her blood parents. There are three of these - one ten years after Endor, when she has forgiven her father and she and Luke visit the world, and she states that she wants to train as a Jedi. One's the night the Death Star exploded, when he shows her what it means to be a Skywalker - to let the Force guide her. The last, the earliest-set, is when she's training with blasters on Alderaan and demands that her teacher - one of Padme's handmaidens - tell her if her parents were good shots.
Sabé sighs. "Your mother was an excellent shot," she says. "Never missed. Your father... used another weapon. But he was a fighter pilot, so yes, I assume his aim was excellent too."
Leia's thin fingers tighten a little on her blaster. "My parents were excellent shots," she murmurs. Her mother was a quick study, a natural with languages, kind, compassionate, always believing the best of people –
They all say Leia's like her, but they're wrong. She's not kind. She's not endlessly patient and compassionate. She certainly doesn't believe the best of people.
But she is an excellent shot.
It's not much, as being like your dead parents goes.
    It's enough for now.

D4: "There are six more protocols. Would you like me to continue?"
    • Comartemis: Six chapters in, barely out of the prologue, and I'm already in love with this one. I've seen fics where Vader finds one of his kids before the movies but I've never seen them executed quite like this. Vader is very much in-character, but his interactions with Leia are amazingly touching, to the point where it's easy to forget that Vader is still Evil with a capital 'E'. Very much looking forward to see where this one goes.

    • It does make sense, and without totally throwing out the Expanded Universe! I was surprised by that. And it is a speculative essay, not a story. Unfortunately this doesn't explain why Wedge wasn't up there too.

Still reeling from Han's death, she suddenly has her family back, and her planet, and a Luke and Han who have no idea who she is. Leia tries to live history better this time, despite worried parents, suspicious Rebellion members, a newly-fascinated Darth Vader, and her own nature.
  • Comments: Unlike some Peggy Sue fics, Leia isn't suddenly a superhero because she's older than she looks - she's just Leia, only fifty six and with some regrets. She doesn't necessarily know all the answers, but she's Leia, she's a survivor, and she's powerfully motivated to Set Right What Once Went Wrong. (Yes, that thing. And the other thing. And... okay pretty much everything traumatic that happened after the opening credits of A New Hope.) Probably the most important thing she's brought back from the future (aside from some military know-how) is the memory of losing almost everything, and she tries to make the most of her time with Luke, Han and her parents, which is much harder work than it sounds. A rare time travel fic that really makes you feel the pains and joys of seeing everyone all over again, with a riveting plot.

Our bet-losing officer stumbles upon a lead and follows it, finding Luke's terribly unprofessional recorded request for admissions and matching it to the one confirmed voiceprint they had of him. The story of how Lord Vader learned exactly who destroyed the Death Star has been told several times in canon, but they're all minor stories that tend to contradict each other. The officer constantly calls the capital world Coruscant when at this point in time Imperials should be calling it Imperial Center, but that's a minor thing. You can really feel the officer's stark terror as he presents his findings. Knowing what we know about Anakin, it's easy to see why he was as interested in the recorded request as he was - Luke babbles about his ability to fly just about anything, talks about flying through Tatooine landmarks, and longs to be a pilot.
    • Lalalei 2001-Maybe I'm biased cause I submitted the story idea to the plot bunny thread, but I had NO idea how well-written this fic would turn out to be. The main character is likable and yet steadfastly Imperial, and even as you groan at his acceptance of the Emperor's policies, you feel pity for his situation and want him to be safe. Vader is in-character too, his presence looming over the story though he only shows up at the end. And bonus points for Luke's hilarious application to the Imperial Academy.

Son of Suns Trilogy by blank101

  • Synopsis: This is an AU trilogy which starts at the end of The Empire Strikes Back: it begins when the Millennium Falcon, trying to escape from Bespin (with an injured Luke on-board), is caught by Vader's Star Destroyer and its passengers (including Han who was taken from the Jabba by the Empire) are taken to Coruscant, where the Emperor tries to convert Luke to the Dark Side.
  • Comments: It is also a bit EU story because here you will find Mara Jade a.k.a Emperor's Hand and Talon Karrde and few completely new characters. I have just finished reading the whole thing and found it epic and amazing. Also be warned — all together there are 18+35+48= 101 chapters, most of them are pretty long.
    • Seconded by Herodity. The Trilogy is well written with strong characterization and fleshed out ocs. blank101 does a fantastic job building this AU and has also written several one-shots. The author's homepage is here
    • Thirded by USA Bobcat. This story is vast, mindblowing, and straight up awesome. It is similar to Shinjiand Warhammer40k in that the author includes some shout outs, such as Han Solo knocking out a guard to get a jacket which turns out of to be three sizes to small. Ring any bells?

  • Synopsis : Luke is nine when Anakin Skywalker bumps into him in the street, except that Darth Vader is on route to Tatooine chasing a report of a nefarious Jedi.
"Darth Vader hated trying to be subtle.
He just wasn't very good at it."
  • Comments : One of my favorite Star Wars AUs, this can be read as a completed duo, as the third piece was promised in 2006. However, the elliptical plot and strong character building means that at the end of this you are left grinning manically at your screen. There are Jedi, Sith, lightsaber duels and cool force powers. Also, a minor Luke/Mara subplot, but which does not require the reader to have any knowledge of the EU, as the characters are well built within the text provided. The author is witty and ironically sarcastic. Possibly YMMV if you are a hard core Star Wars trivia geek, but a very enjoyable fic all round.

  • Synopsis: The Force directs Luke to a bittersweet discovery.
  • Comments: It seems rare to have a fic which features Artoo-Detoo as a side character and actually makes him seem like a character and not a rolling prop. This is one of them. Luke ends up at Polis Massa and sees a recording of the birth of he and his sister. I like that Bail Organa actually gets a favorable mention. Recently Troy Denning has made a habit about showing Luke and Leia details about their parents, but this predates that.

Rogue Leader, by jaded_reality

  • Recc'd by Joysweeper
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: On Hoth, Luke Skywalker - leader of Rogue Squadron - is missing presumed dead, and so Wedge Antilles has to step up.
  • Comments: I like this one for several reasons. One is that it's from an era we don't see much of - Crack Shots was set a while before this, but not a lot of others are from that period. Another is that it's serious without being a Dark Fic. A third is that this is before Wedge, Wes, Hobbie, and Tycho all really trusted each other, and so there's actually some personality conflict.

  • Synopsis: Luke Skywalker gets help from Anakin's spirit on the battlefield - even against his own wishes.
  • Comments: It's marked as a horror story, and despite not being extremely graphic and not killing/hopelessly ruining any named characters, the label's correct. It touches on something I like the thought of - most of Anakin was redeemed and put at peace, but there was still a part which is decidedly evil.

Bad Boys, JEDI Style by Kelaria

  • Recommended by Ryan Lohner
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The six Star Wars films are a semi-improvised TV show in which the Jedi all play themselves to keep up popular support. And outside the shooting of the films themselves, there's a whole other story going on involving the labyrinthine relationships between the characters and a whole lot of romance (I'm not putting it in the shipping section because there's a lot more to the story than that and most of the romances involve OCs).
  • Comments: God, how to describe this one? That synopsis doesn't nearly do it justice. It isn't the broad parody you might expect from the setup, though a lot of it is certainly extremely funny. Rather, it's more of an AU story which treats the Star Wars universe itself seriously while giving sometimes silly and sometimes quite moving reasons for the films' more...eccentric elements. The changes in tone can even be a bit jarring at times, possibly due to the author's bipolar disorder. She permanently retired from fanfic writing in 2007, but she pulled through and finished the story as of 2013.
    • I am definitely backing the recommendation. The "Star Wars movies are a TV show" theory turns all of the plot twists into brilliant Funny Moments. Anakin is endearingly characterized as an artsy, awkward young man who constantly gets hospitalized for ill-timed accidents, and his relationship with Padme is easily one of the best aspects of the fic. Minus the Force and spaceships, this is exactly the kind of messy turmoil that goes on behind the scenes and it's wonderful to see it written so perfectly instead of Played for Drama.
  • The story I read doesn't quite jibe with Sharysa's description. I'm pretty confused, but I can recommend the version I read wholeheartedly. -Errata

  • Synopsis: When newly-promoted Jedi Master Ken Elegin receives a vision of the destruction of the Jedi two years after the end of the Lost Tribe of Sith crisis, and sets out to gather a group of Jedi, traitors, and civilians in order to stop it, while their enemies plot to kill them off one by one.
  • Comments: At first I thought that the author, NKSCF, was an attention-seeker, since the majority of his author's notes in the first few chapters were all about how he lost his ability to see who could see his story and how they could send reviews to him. But when I e-mailed him to call him out on this, I was surprised to find out that there actually is a problem that can appear on Fanfiction.net, where a story can end up losing the reviews sent to it, which is a crime, because this story is absolutely awesome! In an attempt to make the Marty Stu Ken from the Jedi Prince novels into a real character, while using as many canon characters as possible to show that not everyone needs to appear once and then be forgotten. NKSCF has a great knowledge of Star Wars lore, but he has admitted that he checks his facts and gains new ones by researching on Wookieepedia. The story is on-going, and is now one prologue and nineteen chapters in. The author's profile page says that the story will end up having thirty-three chapters total, and one epilogue.
    • Man, I love how this guy gets his continuity right. He's not afraid to add a little of his own stuff in there, but I can't find anything that directly conflicts with canon. He may rely on using a lot of references to species and planets that the casual reader will be scratching their head at, but it's all good fun, and the story is really intriguing, which is funny, because I always hated Ken as a character until now. • An AU of massive proportions, starting off in The Phantom Menace and continuing through the Prequels, The Clone Wars, and Rebels. The series is comprised of several Novel-length stories, the longest of which is complete at over 700,000 words, and Troperiffic enough to make me surprised it doesn't have a Tropes Page yet. I put it under "Other" because it comprises too many parts of the canon to fit under any of the other sections.

Hull #721 by Eleventh Century Remnant

  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Early production run Star Destroyer Black Prince is recovering from a battle with the Mon Cal cruiser Mon Evarra, when things get...political. In the wrong place at the wrong time, the crew is caught between the sector government, the Emperor's Privy Council, Black Sun, some local aliens with genocidal tendencies, and the Rebellion. How can they survive? Well, for starters, they're one of the best crews with the best officers on a heavily modified ship that can kill planets in its 'stock' configuration. Add to that the backing of pretty much everyone in the Imperial Navy who wants to actually do their job...
  • Comments: Perhaps the only great Star Wars fic focused on a Capital ship, Hull 721 still has its flaws. The author uses a difficult writing style that has turned off a lot of people to the story but at the same time creates compelling characters, living breathing world they inhabit, and space combat that combines fighter strikes, long range battles of maneuver, expert gunnery and technical prowess and even kamikaze ramming. Synthesizing over 30 years of the movies and the EU into a cohesive doctrine and creating realistic feeling combat in a space opera setting is just the cherry on top. And This Tropper isn't just saying that because he was written into the story, only for the character to be blown up at the end and spend several months in reconstructive surgery in the sequel.
    • USA Bobcat: Hard to get into from the start, but once you do... It's just as well thought out as Dragon Age: The Crown of Thorns, and written in a similar manner, except for the fact that it is slightly harder to read. Crown of Thorns takes it's time to either bring the reader up to the pace, or has a character explain in layman's terms what is happening, and the fic suffers from a lack of that. But despite that, it really does show just how zany and smart the officers of the Imperial Starfleet have to become to be any good at their jobs, and how that technology interacts with the rest of the story. For example, Commander Mirannon once killed three Jedi with a remote control for the Black Prince's compensators. An experienced stormtrooper describes it vividly. It is complete with funny moments, awesome moments, and truly heartwarming moments, even for the Empire. A Rebel Spy turns to the Empire because she is told that the Star Destroyer that killed her parents was destroyed by the Black Prince. It wasn't, but Captain Lennart passes the word to another member of their squadron, which is promptly boarded, and eighty-seven men were found guilty of numerous crimes.

  • Comments: Exactly What It Says on the Tin, and it works gloriously. Nice interaction between family, as well as Padme's adjustment to the galaxy that moved on without her. One thing to note, though, is that the author has a confusing use of the Expanded Universe, and the story stops being about Padme about three quarters of the way through (and throughout the sequel), and about an OC. The OC herself is interesting though. It gets really sappy at points, and the dialogue can be pretty wooden at points, but the story is definitely worth the AU read.

But 10 years is a long time, and he has changed more than she is prepared for. How will she react when little Ani is now a grown man, impulsive, handsome and completely infatuated with her? Though they won't admit it, their long-distance relationship is taking it's heavy toll. Will their love prevail or will the distance prove too much for both of them? Sequel to The Boy Next Door. • Pairings: Han/Leia
  • Synopsis: A look at Han and Leia's relationship from different peoples point of view.
  • Comments: Three very different perspectives for the couple, which include Jabba, Mon Mothma, and General Rieekan
    • Joysweeper: I didn't really like this one. Jabba called Han "my boy" every few lines, and similarly Rieekan constantly called Leia "Little One". Plus, Mon Mothma was shrewish and seemed out of character. I don't think this writer has read the EU much - Han has always been attracted to take-charge women, ever since Bria Tharen; and Mon Mothma might have reasons to disapprove of Han and Leia, but one of them should have been the pain of losing a child in war. I didn't find any of them particularly compelling. But hey, I'm a perfectionist about fics.

  • Comments: Very entertaining, and I couldn't stop reading once I started. It also features clever inspirations from other fairy tales. At first it will seem like a sad ending, but then again, love finds a way. I highly recommend this fan fiction!

Obi-Wan and Anakin bear the scars of harsh lessons learned; those who love them must learn those lessons quickly, before the mistakes of old are repeated.
  • Comments: Re-Entry and it's sequel, Journey of the Whills (Dead; last updated December 2016) is over a million words long and is so detailed, it has it's own wikia. It is a masterpiece of detailed characterization and world-building that sucks you in and refuses to let go.

A few weeks after Return of the Jedi, some horrible plague was unleashed from the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, and the big three and Chewie have been running in the Falcon. • Synopsis: Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love. It did not end well. – "Daughter of Smoke and Bone", Laini Taylor. In which Maul is convinced by his master to keep Eldra Kaitis alive for training purposes. Naturally, feelings get involved.
  • Pairings: Maul/Eldra
  • Comments: A very underrated fic, and probably one of the best Darth Maul fics out there. Maul is in character in that he's loyal to Sidious but still keeps his own agency, and most importantly, he's neither romanticized nor is he a complete monster; he's both complicated and sympathetic. The romance between Maul and Eldra is a realistic slow burn that isn't sugar-coated in any way and, again, isn't romanticized; Eldra is completely aware of her situation and understands that her bond with Maul is unhealthy, which in fanfic is very refreshing. The story has a dark feel to it, but it's not too dark; the dark aspects are a necessary part of the story and aren't there just for the sake of it. And finally, readers don't need to read Darth Maul in order to understand the story, but some knowledge of what happens will probably help.

Avengers: Infinite Wars by free man writer

  • Recommented by: Marcus S Lazarus, Dark Phoenix 94, Russian Noble 6
  • Crossover with: Marvel Cinematic Universe
  • Status: In-Progress
  • Synopsis: The Clone Wars are in full swing with the galaxy divided. The Jedi lead the clone army against the infinite droid army of the Separatists. Yet a wild card enters the fray. The Avengers. From there, newer, more sinister and deadlier threats emerge and The Galaxy, no, the universe, shall never be the same again.
  • Comments:
    • A fascinating and dramatic blending of the two worlds, as the Avengers unwittingly introduce new threats to the Clone Wars while also providing the Republic with some unconventional allies. With moments ranging from Scott Lang fighting the Zillo Beast to the Avengers adopting 'Baby Yoda' and Peter Parker's intriguingly-developing relationship with Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee, this fic is certain to be a fascinating read as more and more twists and turns are introduced.
    • Recommended with a little hesitation. It's your quintessential rough diamond. The plot is superb, the integration of universes is excellent, and the characterisation is broadly good. Ultron is utterly terrifying, yet retains that edge of tragedy, and in general, the author manages to balance a lot with serious precision, and they've absolutely done their research. However, a lot of the writing itself gives off the air of a first draft - the dialogue can be very clunky at times, a lot of the text doesn't run smooth, and it's quite stilted. Other stuff, such as the Peter/Ahsoka/Barriss triad, is a matter of personal taste, but what should be a 9.5/10 fic instead more of a 7/10.
    • An absolute must-read. Cannot praise this story enough. Rough start but it eventually evolves into one of the most captivating stories that seamlessly blends so many aspects of both universes, taking inspiration from all corners, be it the movies and shows themselves to comics and games with other expanded media. Ultron is at his most terrifying and the dynamic relationships between characters are top-tier. The beginning mostly feels like building blocks but when everything is set, the quality explodes and hasn't suffered a drop in quality since. Cannot recommend it enough, easy 9 or even 10 out of 10 depending on preference. Nitpicks are only personal at best with so much setup for the future. Read it now.

Children of the Stars by Nimbus Llewelyn

  • Recommended by Dark Phoenix 94
  • Fandoms: Star Wars and X-Men
  • Status: Ongoing.
  • Synopsis: Three years before Phantom Menace, Shmi Skywalker encounters a 16 year old amnesiac who has no idea where she is or how she got there. She's lost, alone, and very obviously a runaway slave - the sort of person that Tatooine is not kind to. Rachel Summers, fresh from Days of Future Past, gets steadily adopted by the Skywalkers, and takes a very protective attitude towards Anakin in particular.
  • Comments: It's certainly unusual, carefully exploring the ripple effect that Rachel's presence has, and establishing how powerful she is without unbalancing the universe (she's Anakin's equal, but her training was sporadic and she's got a bad case of retrograde amnesia), making her powerful but vulnerable, emphasising her own traumas from slavery. Generally, it's more character focused one-shots, leading steadily up the events of canon, and it leans heavily into Fialleril's Tatooine slave culture headcanon, and the author's admitted that it's influenced by The Desert Storm. It's also written in the third person present, and relatively slow burn, with a sporadic update rate (the author has a number of other major projects). If that's your jam, you'll like it.

Being the Empire they promtly invade the Star Trek galaxy. There is quite an interesting twist involving the origins of the Star Wars galaxy.

  • Synopsis: The fateful confrontation in Palpatine's office unfolds very differently when a mysterious old man encourages Anakin to think about recent events.
  • Comments: A nice little oneshot featuring Anakin, Mace, Palpatine, and the War Doctor. The War Doctor's portrayal remained relatively true to what we've seen of him, and everything is wrapped up in a way that doesn't feel too forced (pun not intended), and it can be assumed that the War Doctor used time travel to gain knowledge about what has transpired and what could transpire. All of it works for the most part, though YMMV.

After gaining a sidekick in the form of droid HK-47, leading to an abundance of hilarious snark and black humor, he quickly gains the attention of both Jedi and Sith Lord alike due to his strange abilities and the fact that his use of magic has a very negative impact on the Force. Shinji is adopted by Darth Vader as his new apprentice, while NERV attempts to deal with a ship of honest-to-God aliens landing in their city. And that's just the beginning.
  • Comments: Normal crossovers are hard enough to pull off, triple crossovers are even harder, but this author makes it seem damn near effortless. The various franchises mesh very well, and the interactions between different characters are very fun to read. Hasn't been updated since 2008, but the author says he's working on it. Time will tell.

  • Comments: A fantastically inventive and impressive For Want Of A Nail trilogy. Some events are so out there it takes you a second to adjust to what you've read. What I enjoy the most about these fics is that Superman isn't an Invincible Hero. He's a character where all his faults and weaknesses are displayed and his triumphs are actually earned.

A massive Imperial Sector Fleet along with several Space Marine Chapters and its fleeing population failed to meet up for their great counter attack and are thrown through the warp to a Galaxy Far far Away. With no way home and an entire sectors worth of refugees to care for, the Imperial forces must now explore and conquer this new galaxy and create a new home for themselves, at the expense of its native inhabitants. But the natives are not going to go down without a fight and might just surprise the Imperials in more ways than one.
  • Comments: A fairly new story but one with more than 18 episodes, and while its based on a overdone crossover between 40K and Star Wars, its by far the most well made, this story does not favor one franchise over another something that is often seen too many times in crossovers. Both sides were written in respect to both their advantages and disadvantages over each other, and it is made clear that despite one franchise being superior over another, an actual well written crossover story does not mean the story is a complete power trip for one franchise over another. The writer clearly has done his homework in both franchises, and shows a deep knowledge in both universes and has crafted clear and well connected arguments that has thus far been able to bind both universe together seamlessly. By far the best 40K/Star Wars crossover work ever made. So far its an audiobook with amazing sound effects and voice acting that you might have thought this was an official work. Hopefully he would uploaded his work onto fanfiction.net or spacebattles.com as well and gain more viewers, and could use a proper title as well.

The iconic rescue pups of the Paw Patrol fight back with the flair and intensity of Rescue Force and Bayonetta combined, gradually reuniting the disbanded Rescue Force and unlocking their innate Force powers along the way.
  • Comments: Easily the single most over-the-top Paw Patrol fanfiction in existence, and it just ups the ante with each episode.

Wizards of the Force and its sequel Jedi of Magic by dezagonj

  • Status: Complete
  • Fandoms: Star Wars, Harry Potter
  • Shipping: Harry/Ginny, Anakin/Padme
  • Synopsis: Harry and Ginny Potter have lived long, fulfilling lives after the death of Lord Voldemort, and they are now ready to join their friends and families in the next Great Adventure. However, Death interferes and offers them a second chance to live in a galaxy far, far away...
  • Comments: It starts really strange, with Harry and Ginny arriving to Naboo in the middle of the invasion by the Trade Federation, but it soon picks up the pace, and builds up very well on all the things the couple's presence causes: on the one side, it helps the Jedis realize the existence of the Sith, but, on the other side, it pushes Palpatine to move his plans a bit forward...

  • Status: Complete
  • Fandoms: Star Wars OT, Franchise/Alien
  • Synopsis: Four weeks after Bespin, Luke Skywalker still isn't fully back to active duty yet, and he's getting a little stir crazy. On the advice of his friends, he takes a short trip to the surface of a nearby planet, said to host an extensive library that includes information from the Clone Wars era that managed to escape Imperial censors. On his way, Luke picks up a distress signal and finds several stranded passengers from a malfunctioning craft on the moon's surface. Out of kindness, he agrees to give them a lift to the library. He soon discovers they have picked up a very deadly stowaway.
  • Comments: A very enjoyable fic, based off of a set of pictures and ficlets by the author involving a librarian oc (who may or may not have been a minor self-insert) and Luke hiding from a Xenomorph when Vader shows up to protect his wayward offspring, the fic takes the thread and runs it amazingly. The author has a great grasp on Luke and Vader's characters, and their relationship here is great. (Also, the author's [[www.radioactivepeasant.tumblr.com tumblr]] has many more ficlets and AUs to enjoy.)
