A sinister demon known as the Thunder Lord, and the primary antagonist of the story. While supposedly acting out his role as one of the 13 Crowns that rule over the demon world, Baal's overall goal is actually to return the modern day civilized demon world back to its chaotic origins. Thus, Baal and his followers work behind-the-scenes to spread chaos in various places.

  • Bad Boss: He was seen stepping on Ocho when the latter was trying to deliver his report. This is while the guy is bleeding out on the floor.
  • Big Bad: Most of the conflicts of the story involve him in some way, and the entire overarching villain plot to "return demonkind to its evil origins" is fully orchestrated by him, with characters like Kiriwo, The Six Fingers, and Ocho acting as his Co-Dragons.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: While to most people he's just a Jerkass, he likes pretending to be a Jerk with a Heart of Gold Cool Uncle towards his adoptive nephew Sabro and niece Silvia. Unbeknownst to those two is that he not only tried to kill Sabro's friends, but was utterly uncaring about the possibility of Sabro dying due to his previous "return to origins" schemes.
    • He also acts this way towards Shura after his Engineered Heroics at the Deviculum. She was quite taken with him after he apparently protected her, and as a result she began inviting him to tea parties at least once a week. Meanwhile, Baal might not exactly dislike Shura, but he finds her chatter so exhausting that Kiriwo suggests he might be heading for a Wicked Phase. Poro outright says that Baal's face is the only thing he has going for the Prince Charming image they're projecting; Poro is the one who needs to select Baal's outfits, the cologne he wears, and even the conversation topics he brings to the table.
  • Connected All Along: In chapter 206, it is revealed that he is the non blood related uncle of the Sabnock siblings, Sabro and Sylvia.
  • Cool Uncle: Is seen as this to his non-blood related niece and nephew, the Sabnock siblings Silvia and Sabro.
  • The Corruptor:
    • He is interested in the Misfit Class primarily and if any of them have the potential to return to Demon Origins and become pawns in his goals.
    • He seeks to be this to Sabro when he offers the boy a chance to become the Demon King by becoming Baal's candidate. However, Sabro refuses in part because if he becomes King, the history books will note he used his uncle's connections to help and that isn't cool.
  • Deal with the Devil: He tries to tempt his nephew into becoming his candidate for the title of the Demon King.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: He tells Sulivan to his face that he won't accept his grandson Iruma as a Demon King candidate (or the other two participants).
  • Engineered Heroics: Baal has Behemolt released at the Deviculum so that he'll rampage at the revelation the other Thirteen Crowns called to replace him, then strike Behemolt down himself once he proves unstoppable. Iruma and Asmodeus nearly put a dent in that plan by trying to, and likely would have succeeded at, take down Behemolt themselves after he nearly attacked Shura, but are stopped by a disguised Kiriwo blocking their attack, allowing Baal to swoop in and put Behemolt down as planned, right in view of the deities while Maemoro, Atori, and Miki, all disguised amidst the guests, call for Baal to be the new Demon King. This likewise makes Shura smitten with him, and causes her to openly declare he has her support, making him untouchable even by the Three Greats.
  • Evil Uncle: It turns out that he is Sabro Sabnock's uncle, and someone Sabro thinks highly of.
  • Graceful Loser: He takes his plans being foiled by Iruma twice now and takes them all in stride nor does he hold a grudge.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: While Baal in the overarching sense is the Big Bad, he prefers manipulating things as The Man Behind the Man, so most of the conflicts in the story are instead instigated by people working under him, such as Kiriwo's various Hope Crusher plots, The Six Fingers' destructive anarchy schemes, and Ocho orchestrating bizarrely convoluted scenarios with the high likelihood of enraging people out of his obsession with the number "2".
  • Jerkass: That's actually the nicest thing one could refer to him as. Even when acting as a member of the Thirteen Crowns, he's still a complete ass towards everybody else.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He's extremely condescending towards Iruma and the other Three Greats' grandsons, but his objection against nominating three inexperienced, lower-ranked students to become the next King of the Demon World is completely valid. He backs off once they explain their plan more and he's given permission to nominate his own candidate.
  • Lack of Empathy: He outright admits he cares nothing for the lives lost in his plans and cares more about returning the demon world to its "former glory".
  • Manipulative Bastard: He is the one who orchestrated Sullivan's arrest and let slip how he went to the human world to take Iruma home with him. He used Henri's role in the border patrol to keep both detained until his plans went through and would have succeeded had he been aware of Iruma having some of Sullivan's magic on him.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Is the hidden backer of Amy Kiriwo in the plan to destroy the school during the Battler Party, and also the one who set the Six Fingers on trying to destroy Walter Park while retrieving Kiriwo from prison.
  • Mole in Charge: He's a member of the Thirteen Crowns, which consists of demons that govern all of the Netherworld while they figure out who to choose as the next Demon King, with his presence also meaning his vote is required for the decision. He's also the Big Bad of the story who's trying to destroy the peace and order the Netherworld is currently under.
  • Near-Villain Victory: His plan to destroy Babyls was very well-thought out and would have worked, since he had Sullivan locked up to prevent him from ruining the plan. However, Iruma manages to save the school by throwing the bomb through Kiriwo's barrier using the Ring of Gluttony with Sullivan's magic inside. Had it not been for that, Baal would have succeeded in destroying the school and killing the students and teachers.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: He's a believer in this, applauding an absent Shiida for not breaking her cover as a teacher, even joining in on the fight against Atori when the latter was furious that she attacked him.
  • Properly Paranoid: He warns Shiida and Atori to be wary of three demons in Bablys and keep their interactions to a minimum to minimize risk of failure. They are Sullivan, Kalego, and Balam. Before their first day is even half-over, Balam invites them to his room for tea to ask some questions. While they don't trigger his Buzzer ability, he reads their body language to know they are hiding things and are dangerous demons. After they are gone, he is on the phone telling Sullivan about the two.
  • Rank Up: He's eventually promoted up in the 13 Crowns due to the Engineered Heroics stunt that he pulled off during the Masquerade Ball Deviculum. Baal goes from being just another 13 Crown senior member up to second-in-command behind the Three Greats, which is the same status as Belzebuth.
  • Secret-Keeper: A very dark example, as aside from Kiriwo, Baal hasn't told anyone about Iruma being human. He orders the Six Finger members Sheeda and Atori to keep an eye on him just in case but withholds telling them he's human, having plans with him in the future.
  • Shock and Awe: As can be expected from his title, he has the power to generate and manipulate electricity.
  • Smarter Than They Look: Despite acting like a rude punk, Baal is very perceptive and cunning. He orchestrated a very well planned strategy to blow up Babyls school by taking Sullivan away to ensure the barrier Kiriwo made would keep everyone inside, since only a Demon as powerful as Sullivan would be able to destroy it, and used Henri to keep him locked up till his plans fell through. His plan was so perfect he would have succeeded had he been aware that Iruma actually had some of Sullivan's magic on him to destroy the barrier. He also correctly later deduces that Iruma is a human based on knowing he appeared right after Sullivan went to the human world along with a secret recording confirming Iruma is human from Ocho's report.
  • The Sociopath: Cares not one bit for his fellow demons orchestrating the plot to blow up the school, uncaring of the massive casualties that would ensue all so the Netherworld would return to its days of chaos.
  • Spiky Hair: He has spiky hair styled as if it was filled with static electricity, a perfect fit for the Lord of Thunder.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: If Iruma and the rest of the Misfits Class had their way, they'd simply work to ascend up the ranks of demon society to prove their worth to those who don't believe in them, while having some fun along the way. It's because of Baal that things get more complicated. From orchestrating the attempted mass murder of every student and faculty member at Babyls via Kiriwo to directing the activities of the Six Fingers terrorist organisation, which included the attack on Walter Park and Uraboras Prison, Baal's actions continue to draw the Misfits Class into situations that push them to their absolute limits. And he does all of this in the aim of forcing demon society to regress to its genocidal, depraved, and hyper-sadistic roots through the propagation of destructive chaos, all the while engaging in political corruption by using his nearly uncontested power as a member of the Thirteen Crowns to do so. The worst happens when he learns that Iruma somehow possesses the mana of the missing Demon King Derkila after Atori steals his skill sheet while acting on Baal's orders to infiltrate Babyls and return with anything Derkila left behind, an operation which nearly got several students massacred if it hadn't been for the competence of the faculty when it comes to defending their students. This is a potential resource that immediately brings Iruma, and by extension the Misfits Class, to Baal's close attention. Given his cruelty and brutality, you can only wonder what he has planned for them . . . And bear in mind that one of the Misfits is Baal's own nephew, who practically adores his uncle.
  • Villain Baal: Amongst a cast of demons whose surnames are derived from the Ars Goetia, it makes perfect sense that the one named Baal is the Big Bad trying to turn all other demons back to their evil roots.
  • Villain Respect: Chapter 203 implies this, albeit with some hilarious contextnote . When Baal equates Iruma's ferocious appetite to "bottomless greed", the very idea of Iruma becoming the next Demon Lord sends shivers down his spine.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: He already was this by being one of the 13 Crowns that supposedly watches over and protects the demon world while hiding the fact that he's been causing chaos behind the scenes. The part that kind of throws this off is that almost everyone could tell that he's the Jerkass of the 13 Crowns, but the other Crowns put up with it believing that his efforts have been for the better of the demon world. Eventually, Baal really shoots up to this status due to the Engineered Heroics stunt that he pulled during the Masquerade Ball Deviculum where he's now looked at as the "hero" that put an end to Behemolt's rampage. Especially regarding the fact that he gained the respect and backing of Shura, a deity of the netherworld.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's almost impossible to say anything about him besides the fact he's one of the Thirteen Crowns without spoiling his true character.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He's not just willing, but outright encouraging, about orchestrating events that would end up slaughtering countless students, including his own nephew, purely for the potential of their deaths to enrage their families so badly they "return to origins". He's especially interested in the fact Sullivan adopted the human Iruma as his grandson, as he wants to kill and eat the boy purely to see if that might cause the mighty Sullivan himself to revert.
  • You Have Failed Me: Double Subverted. He was clearly pissed that Atori went crazy, and nearly jeopardized his mission with Shiida, as well as Returning to Origins during a school event rather than keeping a low profile like he was ordered to. But at the same time, Atori returned with Iruma's reference sheet, which had Delkira's mana, and so this change of plans shifted to Baal focus his attention on Iruma and his Engineered Heroics.

Inherited Magic: Barrier

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/main_kiriwo_8.png

A demon that Baal took in after noticing that the former had gone through "Return to Origin." AKA, Kiriwo became an evil demon that returned to his chaotic demon roots. First introduced as a senior Babyls student leading the magical tools research division, Kiriwo befriends Iruma after the latter took an interest in joining said division. However, to further Baal's goal of spreading chaos, Kiriwo had been working behind-the-scenes at Babyls to set up a machine that will blow up the school during the Battler Party. In the end, Iruma manages to put a stop to the plan, which resulted in Kiriwo's arrest, but this also results in Kiriwo self-proclaiming himself as Iruma's arch-nemesis. With the help of the Six Fingers breaking him out of prison, Kiriwo returns to Baal's side, and awaits the day that he finally faces Iruma once more.

  • Abusive Parents: When it was discovered that he had little magic, his entire family quickly shunned him, especially his own mother who shoved him away in anger.
  • Arch-Enemy: He considers Iruma his "Destined Enemy", because he was able to foil both of his plans for destroying the school and Walter Park.
  • Arc Villain: He acts as the main villain of the Battler Party Arc, trying to blow up the school in order to bring about chaos to the entirety of the netherworld's society.
  • Bait-and-Switch: His Backstory that gets brought up during the Battler Party arc starts off acting as if Kiriwo has a Dark and Troubled Past that led him down the path of villainy. In actuality, it turned out to be an enjoyable experience rather than an unpleasant one as the moment where Kiriwo realized that he loves being an evil demon that brings others to despair.
  • Barrier Warrior: His bloodline allows him to create barriers, which explains why despite his inventions usually blowing up he doesn't get hurt. He later uses this to entrap the school and get everyone killed in an explosion.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: Whenever he's acting as a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing, he wears big-rimmed Nerd Glasses that amplify his vulnerable and harmless looks to make him quite cute, even to other characters. Each time he decides to reveal his true self, including to the audience, The Glasses Come Off and he shows off his natural psychotic gaze that is very much not cute.
  • Beyond Redemption: Iruma had every intention to bring him back when he sees him again, but Kiriwo already knows he's too far gone to return. Because of this, he remains with Baal and the Six Fingers.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He pretends to want to help others that have weak bodies like him using his creations, when he's actually a terrorist who gets off on suffering, both his and other people's.
  • The Bus Came Back: Following his arrest and removal from the plot after his plans are foiled, he eventually shows up again in the Walter Park Arc, having been taken to the prison underneath. He proceeds to become involved in the prison break brought about by the Six Fingers. After that he continues acting as Baal's The Dragon for the background plot.
  • Cover-Blowing Superpower: Kalego is able to figure out that the attack on the school was his doing since he is the only student with the ability to create barriers. This happens again during the deviculum for the new 13 crown members when Iruma notices a barrier stopped his and Alice's attacks.
  • Depending on the Artist: Depending on the scene his left horn is either very small or completely missing.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: As a kid he looked like a girl.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: He has a pretty cute and harmless appearance, with him acting very endearing and getting along well with Iruma since he met him. But beneath that facade is a boy whose mind perfectly encapsulates what one would expect from an actual demon, with him greatly enjoying the potential for death and despair from those around him.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: He wears a long coat cut in half on his left side after he escapes from prison. Similarly, he has a habit of slicking back only the left side of his hair.
  • Faux Affably Evil: To compliment his cute and non-threatening looks and mannerisms, he has a calm and soft-spoken voice that he almost never deviates from, alongside having a disarmingly friendly and cheery attitude. This just makes it all the more unnerving when he starts talking about his despair fetish to people and engages in numerous Breaking Speeches, because he does all of that without ever raising his voice or acting aggressive.
  • Foreshadowing: Iruma's ring keeps causing him to grab Amy by the throat. It is later revealed by Arikled that he was doing that to warn Iruma that he was a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing.
  • The Glasses Come Off: He takes them off when he decides to show his true personality.
  • Graceful Loser: Every time his plans fall to pieces thanks to Iruma, he never lets it upset him for long and accepts defeat. Sure, he'll get a little miffed that Iruma basically No Sells any attempt at driving him to despair, and gets confused by how Iruma manages to remain so upbeat despite the cruelty of the world, but he soon after calms down and decides there's always next time where he might possibly finally break the boy.
  • The Heavy: While Baal is the one that sets all their plans up from behind the scenes, Kiriwo is the one that actually puts those plans into motion.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: When he first meets Iruma at the Battler Room, one thing Kiriwo shows is a paper doll which can move with magic and follow the empowerer's commands. He shows them to Clara later during the sleepover. Clara then uses hundreds of them with Asmodeus empowering them, and this allows them to map out the maze of barriers during the attack on the school. As a result, Iruma makes it to his hidden location in time to stop Kiriwo's plot.
  • Hope Crusher: Since he has a literal hard-on for despair, most of his plans as Baal's underling involve setting up scenarios that would induce a Despair Event Horizon on as many people as he can, since any seriously intense negativity has a good chance of reverting a demon back to their origins as immoral monsters, though he doesn't mind getting his own hopes crushed since that turns him on too.
  • Inconsistent Spelling:The translators can't seems to settle on whether he's called Kiriwo Amy or Kirio Ami.
  • Interplay of Sex and Violence: While his "despair-lust" already caused him to develop suspect feelings about Iruma, after learning he's human, this expands into wanting to kill and eat him, since Kiriwo is curious just how exquisitely arousing Iruma's despair might be if he tries to do so.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: When Kiriwo starts to explain his Dark and Troubled Past to Iruma that led him to become so vengeful it's initially framed as being his Freudian Excuse....up until the reveal that he was always a sadist and ended up joining up with Baal of his own volition.
  • Knight of Cerebus: While the story always had the threat of the other demons eating Iruma if they found out he was human, that was treated comically and the early story was overall light-hearted fun. Then we meet Kiriwo's true self, and with that the introduction of a genuine threat to both Iruma and demon society. Following his official introduction, while most of the story is indeed light-hearted fun, whenever Kiriwo has any involvement in an arc, you can be certain it will take a serious turn, with the story only getting lighter when he leaves again.
  • Mask of Sanity: He hides his darker tendencies quiet well once he enters Babyls. While he doesn't advance much in rank, he is very much beneath suspcion as any threat to the school. However, when it's just him and Iruma and he is minutes away from achieving his goal of blowing up the school, he pushes Iruma down with a deranged look on his face exclaiming about the ecstasy he will soon feel from all the despair both in the loss of life and in the parents coming to find their children's corpses. It is this moment that reminds Iruma no matter how much he might look like those around him, they are demons and some are truly dangerous creatures.
  • Meaningful Name: His name sounds like the word "curio", an object that is rare, unusual, or intriguing, which fits with him being the leader of the magical tools research division.
  • Mirror Character: To Iruma. Both have been abused by their biological parents, were shunned and eventually abandoned by them, are incredibly weak magically with their only natural strength being defensive actions; Kiriwo using barriers while Iruma dodges things. Both have magical tools which allow them greater access to magical abilities thanks to the magic of an adoptive figure in their lives; Iruma possessing the Ring of Gluttony imbued by his grandfather's power and after his escape from Walter Park Baal had a ring-shaped tag made for Kiriwo that’s imbued with his own power. But whereas Iruma wants to make the Demon World a better, happier place like Bablys and is a Hope Bringer to many close to him, Kiriwo is a Hope Crusher who seeks to destroy the stability of the Demon World and make it a chaotic nightmare.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: He quite literally gets aroused from despair, no matter who is being filled with it. Whether it's seeing others fall to despair, or having himself pushed to despair, if somebody is experiencing it, he'll enter a state of ecstasy. In fact, seeing Iruma after escaping from prison made him blush while his heart fluttered due to how Iruma once again crushed his ambitions.
  • Red Right Hand: Because of his Origins eyes, Azz was able to figure out he Returned to Origins, and attacks him immediately before being blocked by his barrier. Azz was able to figure this out due to a footage Balam showed him.
  • Shout-Out: The way Kiriwo remove's his glasses and sweeps his hair back revealing himself to be evil and more handsome resembles Sousuke Aizen from Bleach upon his character being Evil All Along.
  • The Sociopath: Pretends to be interested in getting rid of the power gaps in demon society when really he is manipulating Iruma into helping him destroy the school so he could bask in the despair of the mourning families and return the Netherworld to its chaotic state.
  • Villain Ball: After Iruma makes his way back to Kirio's secret room, he finds Kirio has a barrier in front of it preventing entry. However, in order to torment Iruma in hopes of seeing him break down in despair, Kirio opens the barrier and allows Iruma entry. This allows Iruma to get in range of the shell and dispose of the bomb in time to save everyone.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Angrily calls Iruma an idiot for foiling his plans, but later reacts calmly when he was arrested.
  • Villainous Crush: Following his first defeat at Iruma's hands, Kiriwo has displayed a number of moments that show him growing increasingly fond of Iruma, though filtered through his "despair-lust" mentality. The first example was him blushing and having his heart race when he sees Iruma after his Walter Park despair plan failed. Later, any mention of Iruma from his "allies" will make him insistent about being told what the boy was doing, and after he learns that Iruma is human, he goes on to drool heavily while showing a face of excitement due to him wondering if trying to eat him will succeed in causing Iruma to fall into despair.
  • Villainous Rescue: After Iruma launches the empowered firework shell into the sky, shattering the final barrier around the school and saving the students from the immediate explosion, Iruma passes out from exhaustion and would have fallen off the top of the three-story school building he was on down onto the ground, but Kiriwo saves him with a barrier strong enough to hold both Iruma and then Kiriwo himself as he joins the now sleeping Iruma on the barrier and has a minor breakdown.
  • Walking Spoiler: Hard to talk about him without revealing his real personality.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Iruma seems to think so anyway. Even after hearing himself that Kiriwo's a sociopath, Iruma still believes Kiriwo's ambition of creating a society where rank doesn't matter is genuinely noble, even if Kiriwo is misguided in his methods. It's implied there is a bit more depth to Kiriwo's character, given that he unnecessarily saves Iruma from falling to his death, even though Iruma had just foils his plans.

The Six Fingers

    In General

The Six Fingers

Debut (all six): Episodes 36-37 (Anime), Chapters 70-72 (Manga)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_six_fingers.jpg

A well-known terrorist organization that's secretly working under Baal. They're responsible for the partial destruction of Walter Park, as well as Kiriwo's escape from Wlavoras Prison. Their actions tend to go unnoticed to the general public due to the memory erasing abilities of the Six Fingers' leader, Wett.

  • Arc Villain: The group as a whole for the Walter Park arc where they release 3 massive demonic beasts upon Walter Park to cause chaos, which it also provides a distraction for them to break Kiriwo out from the Wlavoras Prison beneath said park.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: When acting as Walter Park staff, they seem like friendly and fun-loving people who want to help everybody relieve their stresses, but once their true identities are revealed, it's shown that, while some of their friendly personas are real and others are just faking it to set up their plan, all of them are in truth Bomb-Throwing Anarchists who cause chaos, destruction, and attempted mass murder for the purpose of making demonkind return to its evil roots.
  • Beneath Suspicion: They all pose as employees of Walter Park before it's revealed they are terrorists. They later do this again by having Sheeda and Atori act as newhire teachers at Babyls. A good part of why they can achieve this is having access to Laser-Guided Amnesia magic to prevent anybody from connecting the dots between their various disguises while also avoiding any direct attacks that might expose their identities as the Six Fingers to the public.
  • Bomb-Throwing Anarchists: The group as a whole utterly despise the restrictive order and stifling peace of the current Netherworld, with them desiring to return demonkind to its more "fun" origins as murderous and destructive monsters. To accomplish this, they have spent a long time since their inception instigating chaotic events that result in major collateral destruction and death, in order to stress everybody out enough that they go past their "wicked phases" and just snap into becoming genuinely, uncontrollably, unrepentantly evil.
  • Dub Name Change: In the original Japanese, their actual title is "The Musashino Group". As the reasoning behind why that name is used would be confusingly unknown to the average foreign reader/viewer, the English translation changes it to the more internationally comprehensible "The Six Fingers".
  • Last Villain Stand: It is implied they each have this at their core. When the magical beasts they created from their own mana are defeated individually, then the fused form is defeated soon after, Wett is unconcerned. He states that these beings made from their mana will act like they would: they will give it one final attack to destroy their enemies. True to this, the fused magical beast attempts to unleash all its mana in a concentrated blast and when preparing the attack turns itself into a bomb so most any attack on it will cause it to explode anyway.
  • Oddly Small Organization: They're the most notoriously dangerous and effective terrorist group in the entire Netherworld, having instigated countless terrorist attacks throughout the years that have resulted in massive chaos, destruction, and death, to the point they are pretty much synonymous with the fringe of demons who desire to "return demonkind to its origins". Despite this, their actual membership is insanely small, them being called the "Six Fingers" because there are no more than six of them. The reason why they're so successful despite such a small headcount is a combination of having numerous supporters who hate the peace and order of the current Netherworld, being incredibly skilled at disguising themselves as common demons while setting up their attacks, and each individual member being Stronger Than They Look, all of them being borderline cases of One Man Armies who can each take on several moderately ranked demons at once.
  • Walking Spoiler: Saying anything about their involvement in the story spoils both what's really going on in Walter Park and the fact Sheeda is a member.

    First Finger

First Finger - Wett

Voiced by: Shouya Tamano (Japanese), Howard Wang (English)

Debut: Episode 36 (Anime), Chapter 70 (Manga)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b157336_l51pzbom4gpq.png

The leader of the Six Fingers. Wett's introduced masquerading as Romiere Ronove's assistant and handler while Romiere goes about Walter Park.

  • Affably Evil: His general attitude hints at a genuine sense of friendliness and cordiality, holding no ill feelings towards those affected by his actions, but he's willing to cause death and destruction if his desire to create a world of "freedom" might be realized through it.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: His name has variably been translated as Wett, Whett, Wetotto, and Uetotto.
  • Master of Disguise: Disguised himself as a student of Bablys in order to get close to Poro Amduscias for a talk.
  • Made of Iron: Got dealt violent retribution by Poro and was able to walk it off later none the worse (though he did mention it still hurt a lot).
  • Memory-Wiping Crew: He has the power to alter demon's memories enough to keep them from remembering their faces working at Walter Park and the demons who were left behind by Kiriwo in their rescue of him. This includes photos of them with other people. They are cropped out like they are Unpersons.

    Second Finger

Second Finger - Sheeda

Voiced by: Azuki Shibuya (Japanese), Heather Gonzalez (English), Valentina Souza (Latin American Spanish)

Debut: Episode 37 (Anime), Chapter 72 (Manga)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shiidaanime1st.png

The #2 of the Six Fingers. While masquerading as a Walter Park staff member, Sheeda rescues Iruma after he found himself lost in a shady street, eventually escorting him back to his classmates and guardian. The time she spends with Iruma during the return results in the two of them forming a friendly bond. She later comes to work at Babyls alongside Atori as newly recruited teachers on a covert mission from Baal.

  • Ambiguously Evil: It's heavily uncertain why she's part of the Six Fingers, as while she's counted among their number and acts as a look-out to make sure everything is set up for their plan to work, she's the only member who never directly engages in chaotic terrorism like the other five, along with showing hints of uncertainty about being in the group. She also never directly confirms or denies sharing the groups overall goal of returning demonkind to its "origins", so why she joined Wett is unclear.
  • Big Damn Heroes: She arrives in time in chapter 261 to save Iruma from being kidnapped by Atori with a devastating kick to Atori's back.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Regardless of the ambiguity of why she's a Finger, ever since she met and spent the day with Iruma, she grew to care for and cherish him like he's genuinely her little brother, and she utterly refuses to let any harm come to him, even if that means defying Wett's orders. She fully acts on this in chapter 261 when she arrives in time to stop Atori from kidnapping Iruma. She was going to act on this when Mephisto made himself too suspicious to Iruma and demands to know who he is first before backing down.
  • Boxed Crook: Opera and Balam decide to have her teach in Babyls, with Iruma outright wanting to have her as his personal trainer, but they do so on the condition that she's kept under constant surveillance. Opera has to explicitly remind her that the school is keeping her under close watch when she tries to help the Misfit class.
  • Boyish Short Hair: While spiky, her hair doesn't go past her neck and she has a rather tomboyish demeanor.
  • The Bus Came Back: She returns in chapter 220 due to infiltrating Babylis under the guise of a new teacher alongside Atori. After that, she returns as a recurring teacher at Babyls, but in a Boxed Crook context.
  • Clothing Damage: Completely unintentional on Iruma's part but when he tried to use his arrows to merely pin her to a wall by shooting her clothing, Sheeda unknowingly tears her own outfit to pieces freeing herself. Iruma, now a blushing mess, has to point out her current state of being. This leads her to calling Iruma a pervert.
  • Cool Big Sis: She pretends to be Iruma's sister to save him from some shady people. She then proceeds to spend some time acting like a doting older sister to him.
  • Cool Teacher: The role of a caring and kind teacher comes easily to Sheda, making sure to help the Misfit Class with useful advice when Opera's Drill Sergeant Nasty teaching style is proving to be a bit too much for them. Notably, during the Heartbreaker Competition, she's the only teacher who gives the student she's fighting constructive criticism while the real teachers are more focused on humiliating their charges over teaching them.
  • Face of a Thug: She's got a rather stern face, as well as an intense glare, which causes her to scare away animals when she tries to touch them, but based on the short amount of time Iruma was with her, she doesn't seem to be a bad person. It goes double following the reveal of her being part of the terrorist group the Six Fingers, as all the most villainous members either have the Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon or look like an average demon, while she's second only to Maemaro in scary looks yet is the Token Good Teammate.
  • Forced into Evil: It is heavily implied that she is not in this group willingly.
  • Friendship Trinket: The photo of her and Iruma, with her being removed by Wett's magic, is something she still keeps on her person and looks at when alone. She swears to it that she won't let anyone hurt Iruma.
  • Funbag Airbag: In the process of saving Iruma from some shady back alley folk, she uses her (small, but not flat) chest to gently cushion his fall after he was dragged off his feet. Iruma found them quite soft.
  • I Choose to Stay: Rather than running off with Poro when Atori's Blood Knight personality gets the best of him, she stays behind despite being a prime suspect, and Sullivan gives her a Death Glare even though she's saved his grandson, whom Baal ordered them to kidnap if He Knows Too Much.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Her name has been translated as Sheeda, Shiida, and even Cedar.
  • Just Toying with Them: What Chima feels Sheeda did with her Heartbreaker team, easily catching Chima from behind before jumping back and requesting a do-over, very clearly being able to pop her balloon before they could even react. Chima is understandably sweating buckets afterwards, noting the difference in skill between them.
  • Kick Chick: As Atori notes, her "favorite" method for solving arguments and other disagreements she doesn't care to deal with is to use her legs to kick the opposing person into conceding, and those legs are strong and powerful enough to make even decently powerful magic a barely inconvenient stop-gap to her hitting what she's aiming for.
  • Leg Focus: Special attention is given to Sheeda's legs after she demonstrates her proficiency in kicking.
  • Lightning Bruiser: She has such incredible physical strength despite possessing a lithe build that she can shatter stone and brutalize more muscular demons with ease, her speed is so great that when being serious she can Flash Step, and while she hasn't been hit by any attacks yet, she shows enough confidence in her ability to take damage that she chastises Iruma for avoiding hurting her in a fight. All of this is highlighted by how she utilizes a Bare-Fisted Monk fighting style with a preference for Kick Chick moves.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: She and Atori don't seem to be aware that Iruma is actually human as they're confused as to why Baal would want Iruma brought to him if he becomes suspicious. Presumably he didn't tell them so they wouldn't be tempted to eat him.
  • Luminescent Blush: She gives off a very prominent blush after her clothing gets torn by Iruma during the Heartbreaker competition and exposed plenty of skin to the boy, calling him a pervert for it despite Iruma's protests about it being an accident.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Sheeda's a beautiful woman with a decently curvy body that gets shown off well by her Stripperific Walter Park outfit, and even after putting on a conservative teacher outfit for Babyls, the story sees fit to have her "fight" against Iruma include some Clothing Damage just to have an excuse for showing off her legs and a bit of her chest again.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: "I'll kick you."
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: After she gets Iruma back to his group, when Iruma turns back to introduce her to his classmates she'd already vanished back off to work.
  • The Stoic: For most of the time she is with Iruma, she held a rather unemotive face, though after spending some time with Iruma having fun, she does end up smiling.
  • Stripperific: Her Walter Park outfit consists of little more than really short shorts, a sports bra, a cape, and nothing else.
  • Stronger Than They Look: She has a rather lithe build, but despite that, she has a strong enough grip to easily crush another person's hand in hers, and her legs are strong enough to destroy walls with kicks or shatter the ground with slightly forceful stomps.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: As a participating teacher in the Heartbreaker competition at Babyls, she takes the duty to assess and help her students grow seriously. When she faces Iruma and studies his archery skills, she realizes he isn't aiming to kill her but shoot her clothing to pin her down so he can escape with her being minimally injured. She calls him out on this tactic saying only the extremely strong or too cowardly use it. He is the latter and should become comfortable with actually hurting people in a combat situation. She does this again when Chima tries to fight her, scolding her for choosing to fight a teacher when it was obvious a first year wouldn't be able to do anything.
  • Token Good Teammate: Her exact alignment is very unclear, with implications that she might be Forced into Evil, but what has been shown about her makes it very certain that she has the highest morals out of not just the Six Fingers but the whole villain faction, refusing to personally engage in any form of terrorism and being very protective of Iruma simply because he was nice and compassionate to her.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She's rather stern and serious normally, and fully up for fighting if necessary, but she likes animals despite scaring them, and enjoyed spending time having fun with Iruma, even if she just met him. She also shows an interest in gardening.
  • Verbal Tic: When she speaks, she has a habit of pausing in the middle of her sentences.
  • When She Smiles: While her normal expression is an emotionless glare, when Iruma thanks her for helping and spending time with him, she flashes him a gentle smile. She does it again when looking at a photo they took together before getting back to work.
  • Walking Spoiler: Takes it a little further than the other Fingers, as she has a very notable role in the Walter Park arc where she spends some time with Iruma acting like a Cool Big Sis, only for her true colors as one of the villains to be revealed later.

    Fifth Finger

Fifth Finger - Atori

Voiced by: Tatsumaru Tachibana (Japanese), Keith Silverstein (English)

Debut: Episode 37 (Anime), Chapter 71 (Manga)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/atori_anime.png

The #5 of the Six Fingers. Atori worked alongside Maemaro during their cover at Walter Park where they go around and partake in fun activities with the visitors. He later comes to work at Babyls alongside Sheeda as newly recruited teachers on a covert mission from Baal.

  • Arc Villain: Due to not being able to hold in his evil demon instincts while acting out his role as a Babyls teacher, Atori eventually falls into this role near the tail end of the Heartbreaker Promotional Exam arc; becoming the main villain that needs to be disposed of after attempting to kill Sabro during the exam. It suddenly becomes the mission of the Babyls teachers to catch him, which they would have done so had Poro Amduscias not interfered.
  • Blood Knight: Turns out that having someone who can defend against him at all is enough to send him into a murderous frenzy. During the Heartbreaker exam, he quickly blows his cover as a teacher by attempting to kill Sabro and his underclassmen, consciously realizing that he had gone too far but didn't want to stop, all because they didn't immediately get taken out. Sabro is forced to activate his wicked phase in order to avoid a fatal blow.
  • The Bus Came Back: He returns in Chapter 220 alongside Sheeda, having infiltrated Babyls pretending to be a new teacher.
  • The Corrupter: He hopes to find impressionable students he can convert to join their goal to returning the world to its more chaotic times. He is giddy when Sabro unleashes his bloodline power, turning the boy into a sadistic combatant by means of a pill, and plans to give him another one to further his descent into darkness. Only Balam's intervention stops Atori.
  • Exact Words: He gets around Balam's Living Lie Detector skill with this. Too bad Balam is well aware of this loophole and noticed he was hiding something via body reactions.
  • Facial Markings: He has six prominent spike markings on his face, three under each eye. He still has them outside his "uniform" when acting as a new Babyls teacher, so they're apparently natural.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Atori acts like a Cool Teacher for the Misfit class but he's also quite excited by Baal's order to murder a few of them if they get in the way of his mission.
  • Know When to Fold Them: In Chapter 258, Atori realizes that he can't defeat Balam without being captured by the other teachers, so he flees the fight so that he could at least grab Iruma before leaving Bablys. Though that said, he's still so bloodthirsty that he takes a moment to attempt to kill another student (Allocer) that he happens across while looking for Iruma, just for the hell of it.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: He and Sheeda don't seem to be aware that Iruma is actually human as they're confused as to why Baal would want Iruma brought to him if he becomes suspicious of them. Presumably he didn't tell them so they wouldn't be tempted to eat him, which would be a wise move considering Atori's personality.
  • Noodle Incident: When asked how he was able to spot Purson's team (who are all invisible) almost instantly, he simply replies that he "knows someone who can use that magic."
  • Spider People: Chapter 258 reveals he is a rare type of demon; a Spider demon capable of growing two more sets of arms from his body. His kind are so rare, Balam an expert in Demonic biology, has never heard of such a demon before.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Once his cover is blown, escapes from Balam's bindings, and he reveals his spider-traits, Atori sprints off with every intention of escaping and, per Baal's orders, kidnap Iruma along the way.
  • Villainous Crush: Atori seems to have one on Balam. After Balam is done asking Atori and Shiida some questions Atori tells Shiida how excited he felt because he felt so threatened by Balam. When Atori fights Balam later in the heartbreaker arc he talks about how happy he is while he starts to blush heavily. When Atori stalls Balam using his web power so he can escape he blows the webbing at Balam in the same manner as blowing a kiss.
  • Villain Respect:
    • After he sees through Soi's powerful magic and pops both of the balloons, he gives genuine praise to Soi for doing something so advanced at a young age, noting it was just bad luck Atori was nearby.
    • When he meets with Balam in the Heartbreaker Competition, he confesses to respecting Balam and wanted to fight him after their first meeting as he sees Balam as a demon not unlike himself. Balam disagrees strongly with that comparison.
  • Virtue Is Weakness: He fully believes this trope. When he is finally captured by the teachers of Babyls in chapter 262, Sullivan explains that they will make him talk and reveal all he knows. Atori spits back with disgust how they will spare his life to make him talk after all he has done in the school alone. He unleashes a Breaking Speech that gets under Sullivan's skin and the elder demon nearly kills Atori.
"After everything I've done... you're letting me live and you want me to talk...? This is why I hate the current Netherworld and all of its demons! GET FUCKED!"

    Sixth Finger

Sixth Finger - Maemaro

Voiced by: Motoki Sakuma (Japanese)

Debut: Episode 37 (Anime), Chapter 71 (Manga)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maemaro_anime.png

The #6 of the Six Fingers. Maemaro worked alongside Atori during their cover at Walter Park where they go around and partake in fun activities with the visitors.

  • Dem Bones: He stands out very noticeably compared to every other demon, all of whom already have such a massive variety in appearance, because he's a living skeleton (he can even have his individual bones separated harmlessly, simply needing to reassemble them afterwards). It's a bit ambiguous if he's even a demon at all, or instead a genuine undead being.

Others

    Ocho

Ocho

Debut: Episode 48 (Anime), Chapter 122 (Manga)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_1_870.jpg
A subordinate of Baal, and a member of The Cult Of Numeral 2. He's tasked with gathering information on the first-year students of Babyls Demon School during the Harvest Festival, which he does so by pretending to be Orobas' Imaginary Friend.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: The anime gives him some Early-Bird Cameo scenes where he's wordlessly standing near Orobas before the start of the Harvest Festival, while in the manga he first appeared a good while into the arc during a scene dedicated to Orobas thinking over his desires and plans.
  • Arc Villain: He serves as the main villain of the Harvest Festival arc having infiltrated Babyls in order to gather information on the first-year students for his boss, Baal. During his information gathering, Ocho manipulates the Babyls student, Orobas, into believing that he has to eliminate all the Misfit students from the festival to win. Ocho then leaves following the festival once the teachers start to catch on that he's there, but he escapes with the information he discovered.
  • Not-So-Imaginary Friend: For most of the festival, he seems like an Imaginary Friend of Orobas', as he's the only person that meets Ocho and he mainly just influences Orobas into acting bad. However, near the end of the Harvest Festival Arc, it's revealed that he's very much a real person, with him only showing himself to Orobas to keep his presence a secret from the teachers. Unfortunately for him, they knew all along about his presence, with Robin sniping him once he's caught alone.
  • Red Right Hand: He has a mouth full of pitch-black teeth, which does a good job immediately showing that he's bad news.
  • Scary Teeth: Has black teeth to highlight his sadism.
  • Serious Business: As a member of the Cult of Numeral 2, he's completely obsessed with the number. In fact, him supporting Orobas into succeeding at the Harvest Festival was in an attempt to create a false Number 1 that he could be a true Number Two to.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: He constantly influences Orobas into going against his personal code and sense of ethics while trying to win the Harvest Festival, both in an effort to have him actually win and so he could have fun watching Orobas become miserable that he won in a way he didn't want.
  • Walking Spoiler: While him influencing Orobas into going against his personal code isn't a major spoiler, the fact he's a Not-So-Imaginary Friend, is part of the Cult of Numeral 2, and is subordinate to Baal isn't revealed until the end of the Harvest Festival Arc.
