The Student Council President. Often regarded as the symbol of Babyls Demon School, she’s widely known for her strict, intimidating, and diligent personality. She does have a sweet side, however, which she only shows whenever she’s alone reading forbidden human texts. Suspecting (and later confirming) Iruma to be a human, she has him read the texts to her via private reading sessions, and through these the two bond over time. Her bloodline ability, Romanticist, allows her to draw out her maximum power for as long as she continues to believe in herself.

  • Aborted Declaration of Love: After her dance with Iruma with the latter admitting he'd like to know her better than the others he's gotten closer to, Ameri hugs him while admitting the same, nearly confessing her love for him, but immediately backs off after a moment to consider what she just said. She tries to walk back what she said, only for Iruma to blush from her gesture, implying her feelings may just be reciprocated.
  • The Ace: She's the archetypical school paragon, gifted magically, physically, academically, and highly respected for both her presence and her beauty. This makes her massively insecure about her dark secret - that is, until another shoujo fan comes to the underworld.
  • Accidental Pervert: She walks in on Iruma in drag on multiple occasions. Even though he claims it's not what it looks like, she had nightmares about it for about a week.
  • Accidental Truth: When her father questions her about what she and Iruma talk about, she (not wanting him to know that it's about manga) states that they often talk about "relationships, love and their futures"... which, despite being true, does not end up helping her case, as he had suspected the two to be in a relationship and didn't react too kindly to it.
  • Action Girl: Ameri is the strongest girl in the whole student body. She's easily defeated one of the magic beasts rampaging throughout Walter Park on her own, while other ace students, such as Sabro and Asmodeus, barely managed to hurt the beast that they were fighting.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In the manga, Ameri doesn't appear until Iruma summons out the Sakura Tree during Suzy's class. In the anime, she pops up as early as the first episode as her student council watches over the entrance cermony.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Much to her chagrin since she worries about how intimidating she can be to Iruma, as her height notwithstanding, Ameri's pretty face, ample chest, wide hips, and long thick thighs are complimented by her inhuman strength and decent muscle tone. Her date with Iruma is a good showcase of both her head-turning beauty and her overwhelming power, including showing off some well-toned back muscles and broad shoulders from her council training.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Downplayed; Ameri loves Iruma regardless of his personality, but she was just as drawn to him when he was in his wicked phase.
  • Armor-Piercing Question:
    • When she asks Iruma what his dream is, he just replies that he's just happy having a good time with others. She actually calls him out on his lack of one in response:
Ameri: That's only an ideal. I asked you about your ambitions. Ideals and ambitions are different. What I want to know is what it is you want to grasp for yourself. Your desire. I'll ask you again, Iruma. What is your dream?
    • It should be noted that nobody, not even his closest friends or his adopted family, had bothered to ask Iruma about what he wanted to do himself prior to this moment. This question serves the catalyst for Iruma's Character Development, as he takes steps to become a more confident person afterwards.
  • Ascended Extra: She had very little screen time before she met Iruma. However, from the time her personality was changed (or even earlier in the anime), she becomes more or less a part of the main cast, being one of Iruma's friends. She does become Out of Focus in some arcs revolving around Iruma's class as a whole, though this is justified since she's one year above him and has her own classes to attend, in addition to her duties as the Student Council President. By her 3rd year she seems to have more or less grown at the primary female lead of the series while Clara, Iruma's classmate and one of his closest friends has been demoted to something of a gag character.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Ameri's position as the Student Council President isn't just for show:
    • She was able to deduce that Iruma was a human just by hearing about a few crazy actions that happened around him. It should be noted that by then, she still hadn't met him face to face - this impression was made all just through word of mouth.
    • When Ameri realized that Iruma could read Hatsukoi Memory, she immediately realized that he was human, but chose to keep this to herself due to her desire to know what the manga said.
    • During Kiriwo's attempt to blow up the school, she was the only student to notice that Iruma was nowhere to be found, as well as correctly guess that something terrible was about to happen.
    • When she saw her father talking with Iruma in private, she interrupted the two by telling her father that Iruma is an "outstanding demon". In other words, she managed to tell that her father had begun to suspect that Iruma is a human and subsequently let him know that he's fine and not in trouble.
    • She was also the first person to both suspect and confirm that the demon idol "Irumi-chan" was actually Iruma, solely based on physical appearance and hair color. She was not happy when she found out that she was right, however.
  • Badass Adorable: To the public she's an intimidatingly beautfiful badass who keeps order in the school with an iron fist, but behind closed doors and especially around iruma, she shows herself to be utterly adorable with her geeky hobbies, girly habits, and Smitten Teenage Girl attitude towards Iruma. A decent part of her character arc actually deals with her perspective on this, as she frequently believes that she's too badass and lacking in cuteness, mainly in the eyes of Iruma. She's goes through two bouts of wanting to downplay her badassery and exaggerate her cuteness, the first leading up to her Love Epiphany and the second when going on a proper genuine date with him, and both instances result in her realizing that he likes her best when she's equal parts a total badass and adorably girly, which combine to make her embrace being both impressively powerful and lovably cute.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Her bloodline magic is a form of Super-Strength, so she fights using devastatingly powerful martial arts, instead of either spells or weaponry.
  • Becoming the Mask: Upon her introduction, Ameri was cold and very serious with her duties as the President that for a while it actually became a part of her. Once she meets Iruma she gradually drops the mask and learns to act more like herself. Prior to the Deviculum some random students even acknowledge this, that Ameri was so unaproachable due to her position yet by then she's more relaxed and warmer towards others.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason she grows infatuated with Iruma. He treats her as a fellow schoolmate, unlike most of the other students who simply fear and/or admire her. She realizes her true feelings for him near the end of his temporary tenure as a member of the Student Council.
  • Berserk Button: Students causing trouble in school is a good way to piss her off, which results in her forcibly disciplining them, often by way of a swift kick to the face or stomach.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Ameri is usually a good person at heart, but troublemakers (or anyone who’d actually hurt Iruma) beware her disciplinary fists.
  • Be Yourself: Her defining point in her Character Development. She's spent so much time acting as the Student Council President that she became this cold and strict woman to keep her fellow students safe. Once Iruma enters her life she begins to occasionally drop her peerless elite student persona and just be the school girl Ameri. This is also part of her growing feelings for Iruma that she realizes her love for him upon accepting herself for herself and stops trying to be someone she's not.
  • Blatant Lies: This is something of a Running Gag for her, as it’s her main method of trying to cover up her sweet side:
    • When Ameri is first seen reading Hatsukoi Memory, she takes it with her, claiming that she brought it with her solely for "research" purposes.
    • When she bumps into Iruma and realized that he could read the shōjo manga she likes, she dragged him off in order to force him to read it to her. She claimed this was "evidence" to see if he's human while he reads it - despite her having confirmed to herself that he was human literally moments before she says this. Her face clearly gives away what she was actually thinking.
    • After hearing Iruma read Hatsukoi Memory, she re-confirms her suspicions about him being a human. Despite this, she claims that she was jumping to conclusions, stating that she wouldn't be sure until they at least finish Hatsukoi Memory together.
    • During the Rookie Hunt, she confronts him in front of Asmodeus and Clara, offering to join the Student Council. She claims that it's only due to how well he did on his last ranking exam and definitely not because she wants to meet him more often than before for reading sessions. Ironically, other students witnessing this exchange believed she was telling the truth, since they believed that she was trying to recruit Asmodeus instead, and him taking the application himself for examination only strengthened this perception.
  • Breakout Character: Despite only just appearing in the first few chapters Ameri became very popular with the fandom due to her design and hidden geeky side that may have contributed to her becoming one of the main cast. Most notably that on the first color spread of the series features the most popular characters at the time: Iruma and Ameri. In the first fan poll even she outranked Clara, who was supposed to be the primary female lead in every fan poll except one.
  • Bridal Carry: During her date with Iruma at a water park, Ameri punched out a monster that almost ate him and caught Iruma in this pose, but cut her leg in the process. After setting him down she tried to tell him that it hurt and that she would like to be carried, immediately regretting this due to her thinking that Iruma wouldn't be able to do it. However, he proved her wrong and carried her all the way to the second floor, (with a little help from Iruma using Fractal, unbeknownst to Ameri.) something that Ameri was very happy about.
  • Brutal Honesty: She's very quick about getting her point across no matter how blunt it is, but it's usually with noble intentions.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Aside from being very beautiful in her school, a good portion of her popularity with many of the boys in her school is due to her enormous bust size.
  • Bully Hunter: The one thing she will not stand are bullies and anyone who are deliberately causing a ruckus. Such as her Establishing Character Moment chapter/episode where she beats up a student for causing trouble, and was about to give a snooty demon girl a piece of her mind until Azz decides to dance with the rank 1 librarian girl because he was impressed by her knowledge of demon etiquette.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Since realizing her feelings for Iruma, she has a bit of a hard time telling him how she feels. Her date with him features her constantly trying to set romantic moments up with him, only to fail due to her inhuman strength, their size difference, and circumstances out of their control.
  • Can't Act Perverted Toward a Love Interest: Not perverted, but Ameri can't keep up her tough side when she's around Iruma, especially after she's had her Love Epiphany.
  • Character Development: Her initial disciplinarian demeanor, stemming from being focused on both her role and her ambition, left her with almost no connections outside of her father and fellow student council members. After befriending Iruma, however, she starts learning to act more like herself, interacting with other demons in the process. She even manages to make a few friends on her own, telling Clara, Elizabetta, and Kerori to refer to her by her name (and not just by her position) at a girls-only party. She also learns to be more confident in her looks, as once she gains feelings for Iruma, she thinks she's not cute in his eyes for her amazon like strength and height, but overtime she begins to lose this side of her, especially once she realizes Iruma may also return her feelings more than it looks.
  • Child Prodigy: Ameri is both intellectually and physically talented. She became a Vau [6] in less than two years as a student at Babyls, whereas most demons are required to be a Daleth [4] rank before they graduate. She's also managed to win her year's Harvest Festival entirely on her own as well as become president of the student council in the process. Her father notes that Ameri even has potential to become a Demon King candidate with her talent.
  • Clap Your Hands If You Believe: How her bloodline ability works. The more she believes in her power and skills, the stronger she actually gets. It is noted to be a "double-edged sword", however, as she would weaken if she's terrified of her opponent. This ability may also explain why she has such an overactive imagination when she Thinks Like a Romance Novel.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: When she finally comes to realize Clara's existence, learning that she has feelings for Iruma as well, she becomes wary of the potential threat the girl has towards her desire to be with him. This later expands to whenever Iruma is hanging out with any girl, not just Clara. It's downplayed though, in that while she still feels jealousy, Ameri refuses to let her feelings override her judgement or sense of fairness, like helping Iruma pick out a better gift for Clara. Played straight during her 3rd year, as Ameri is visibly uncomfortable with Chima clinging to Iruma at any chance she gets.
  • Closet Geek: She's aware of the existence of humans because of the books that her family has gathered throughout the years. Said books turn out to be shōjo manga, and she loses her calm and cool demeanor while reading them.
  • Comically Missing the Point: There are times her drive and ambition to her goals will make her unaware to another demon's discomfort. During her Third Year, she is excited about the chance to train under Opera of the Sullivan Household when this demon becomes a temporary teacher at the school. She even asks for this demon to give the whole Student Council some training. When the demon takes Ameri up on the offer, they tie up and drag off the rest of the Council. Her subordinates call for her help and she assures them she will follow shortly and bring Ronove with her. They scream back that isn't what they meant.
  • The Comically Serious: She treats the cheesy human manga she collected as some holy ancient spell text and asks Iruma to help her translate it for her like it was life or death.
  • Contrived Coincidence: In the Evidol Games arc, Team Kuromu suddenly needed to fill a vacancy with a candidate who was "cute, sporty, a team player, and already knows (about Iruma's crossdressing situation)," and who also needs to be as physically strong as their rival Gyari and resistant to being seduced by her. Lo and behold, Ameri walked through the door a second later.
  • Crash-Into Hello: How she met Iruma. Although the whole incident was a coincidence, once she learned that the person she crashed into was Iruma, she lampshades this, suspecting that he was trying to make her fall for him with a human spell. Ironically, this is later played straight on her part, as she does fall in love with him after getting to know him better.
  • Crush Blush: She begins to have this when she's around Iruma or when he reads her manga, and it becomes even more prominent after she realizes her feelings for him. This is at its most intense when her personality was reversed and he put her hands on her cheeks while trying to help her regain her confidence. She blushed so much that she nearly passed out from pure joy. She would then go on to actually do this after the terrorist attack at Walter Park, when Iruma asked if the two of them could go somewhere together by themselves (essentially asking her out on a date). Said date ends with him carrying her bridal style and she had to cover her face from the embarrassment (and happiness) from his act.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: She solos one of the three skyscraper-sized magical beasts unleashed during the Walter Park arc, and makes it look easy. This impresses Opera enough for them to offer her to become their assistant.
  • Custom Uniform: Her uniform is heavily customized and looks very different from the pink and red Sailor Fuku most female students wear.
    D-H
  • Daddy's Girl: It's clear Ameri adores her father and takes after him quite a bit. Even still, she does begin to see her father isn't very fond of Iruma and chooses to keep her feelings about him to herself.
  • Dance of Romance: She gets to dance with Iruma during the Deviculum which ends with Ameri not only gaining a renewed confidence in gaining Iruma's affections, but Iruma seemingly having realized he cares for her more than he thought.
  • Dare to Be Badass: One of her main traits. She strives to always better herself in pursuit of her goals and encourages others to do the same. She kickstarts Iruma's character growth by telling to set a goal for himself and work to accomplish it. She wins the re-election because her call to the students to reach out and claim their ambitions inspires them to look beyond the indulgent luxury Ronove promises. Chapter 271 even has her doing this to Iruma about further raising his rank as well as the fact she herself even desires to rise up from Rank 6.
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: Ameri's father is completely against the idea of the two spending time togethernote  to the point that he even tries to forbid her from interacting with Iruma. This does not stop her from falling for him and later going on an actual date with him to a water park, something her father does not seem to know about.
  • A Day in the Limelight:
    • She gets a whole introduction arc early on (chapters 9 - 13) that revolves around her befriending Iruma due to him being able to translate the First Love Memories manga series that she's highly interested in.
    • Ameri acts as the Deuteragonist to Iruma during his brief time as a member of the student council. The narrative focuses on her attempt to maintain her position as Student Council President against Ronove after being tricked into undergoing a personality change that results in her becoming shy and timid, and as such, unable to properly do her job. Here, she receives a fair bit of Character Development, including (but not limited to) coming to terms with her feelings for Iruma.
    • She got to solo the Panther Rat during the Walter Park arc; showing off her powerful self-buffing Romanticist bloodline for the first time.
    • Throughout the series, she receives one-off chapters that focus on her spending time with Iruma. Most notably when the two go out on a date to a water park (chapter 94), when they bake cookies together at Iruma's home (chapter 143), when they dance together at the Deviculum party (chapters 179 and 180), and when they go on a date to a high class restaurant (chapter 271).
    • She returns as a Deuteragonist during the Evidol Games Arc as the teams primary lead in winning the atheltic events.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Of the Tsundere Love Makes You Dumb and Marriedtothe Job tropes. Her harshness is largely due to overcompensating in her Student Council President duties. A heavy hand, figuratively and literally, is needed to keep troublemakers and challengers in line, both of whom emerged from the woodwork when she was temporarily personality-flipped and lost any aggressiveness. Whenever her image of a proud disciplinarian isn't on the line, Ameri is fairly reasonable and kind, and having her intimidating exterior pointed out to her came as a shock. Yet because of how strict and even ruthless she could come across as made nearly all the other students either admire her from affar or unable to approach her out of fear. Her duties to the Student Council needed a firm hand, and as a result of how serious she took her position, as well as putting others before herself made her focus too much on her position to the point it became an actual part of herself, causing her to have No Social Skills around others and come off as both awkward when trying to be normal and embarrassed of her secret hobby of Shoujou Manga. Worse is that outside of her fellow councel members and her father she had no one else to talk to or call as a friend till she met Iruma and gained a circle of female friends. This also gets played with in regards towards her feelings for Iruma, as unlike the average tsundere, Ameri mellows out considerably once she realizes she's in love with Iruma and rarely puts on a front of disapproval, while Iruma's fellow Misfit Kerori emerges as a straightforward example of the trope. While she never lets her feelings for Iruma cloud her better judgement, but her personality flip in the Student Council arc showcases the consequences of what her feelings would do if she let them rule her. Her now unrestrained crush inflates to the point it’s the linchpin of her Loss of Identity, as she offers to abandon her highest ideal of pursuing her ambitions to become the perfect girlfriend for Iruma. It’s only when Iruma rejects this offer, knowing she would never be happy living like that and telling her he prefers the real Ameri, does the brainwashing begin to wear off.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Unlike most examples, Ameri was never unnecessarily mean or cruel towards others - it's just that her intimidating demeanor and strict behavior struck fear in most of the students, preventing most from approaching her. After meeting Iruma and developing feelings for him, she begins to soften up a bit, learning to smile more and engaging in conversations with other demons.
  • Determinator: In her own words, she never gives up on her ambitions - and she has quite a few of them! Even with her personality forcibly reversed, she still (thanks to Iruma's help) manages to defeat Ronove and keep her position as Student Council President. After realizing that she's in love with Iruma, she acknowledges to herself that she is determined to one day have him look at her the same way that she looks at him.
Ameri: Now I have another ambition. I hope Iruma is prepared, because I fully devote myself to my ambitions.
  • "Dinner, Bath, or Sex" Offer: After Opera offers her a job to work as their assistant for Sulivan Ameri realizes she would get to live with Iruma has one of Ameri's Iruma-focused Imagine Spots, this time about the idea of them living together, and thus practically married in her eyes, she thinks up a more G-rated example that stops at the bath part, and since Iruma is a Big Eater, her imagined version of him immediately chooses dinner.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Despite planning out her date with Iruma, she forgets that he's an Empowered Badass Normal human being and she is a powerful demon, and so things such as her height and strength (as detailed below) gives her a huge disadvantage over trying to make her dream date come true. They did eventually enjoyed themselves despite this.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: Ameri plans the structure of her date with Iruma out well, but she doesn't take into account her superhuman strength in trying to have fun with him. She causes a small tidal wave splashing water and left a small crater with a volleyball strike. She later lampshades this, admitting she never learned how to tone down her strength. Her date with Iruma ended badly due to her inhuman strength, which makes her think of herself as a "brute" of a woman. Thankfully, due to her having hurt her leg from a beast that almost ate him, he carries her to the 3rd floor to treat it, something that makes her feel a lot better.
  • Do Wrong, Right: During her first patrol in the series, she chastises some demons breaking windows and claims if they are truly going to act like demons, they should break a wall. And with one kick, she does just that.
  • Dramatic Irony: The daughter of the Demon Border Patrol Chief, whose primary duty is tracking down humans, has fallen for a human and works to deflect suspicion from him.
  • Dude Magnet: Almost all the boys in the school are attracted to her, gushing about either her strength or beauty. Her "date" with Iruma even shows some guys in the background staring at her in awe.
  • Endearingly Dorky: While everybody, Iruma included, already appreciates her for being a badass beauty, it's her geeky hobbies and Hidden Heart of Gold that really make Iruma and a few others in the know absolutely adore her, feeling it charming how she can be both a capable and alluring disciplinarian and a kind and relatable person.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In her first proper introduction, Ameri has one for every different side of her character:
    • She notices the blossoming of a cherry blossom tree (a plant only found in the human world). When she learns that it was Iruma that caused this, she immediately suspects him to be a human, immediately showcasing how perceptive she is compared to other students.
    • During her patrol with the Student Council, she deals violent retribution towards other students who cause needless destruction towards the school, demonstrating both her physical skill and her intimidating and strict demeanor. She also demonstrates her belief in demons pursuing their goals with gusto. The delinquents who are just breaking walls are pathetic. If they are to cause chaos, destroy a wall.
    • Afterwards, she goes off on her own to read her "forbidden books" that form the basis for her believing that humans exist - which turn out to really be shojo manga. Her gushing over the romance in it shows off her hidden dorky side, while simultaneously hinting that she's both genuinely a Nice Girl who puts on more of a Jerkass Façade out in public to protect other students.
  • Everyone Can See It: Since realizing her feelings for Iruma, it's rather easy for others to have picked up on her feelings for him. Her father, Opera, Smoke, Lied and even Clara can see it. Ameri doesn't really do any good for herself when others bring it up, which was how Smoke and Opera were able to pick up her crush on him.
  • Even the Girls Want Her:
    • Eiko gains a crush on her after being saved by her during the Battler Party.
    • The group shots when regular students admire her typically include a few blushing female students as well.
  • Exact Words: She tells Iruma she would wait for him when he reaches the same rank as her. However, she never said that she herself wouldn't raise her rank as well. Chapter 271 has her even telling him she intends to rise to rank 7, maybe even higher and encourages him to do the same. Iruma, for his part, is happy for the encouragement.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When she starts to notice how the new student rushes to Iruma and flusters to his compliments, it slowly dawns on Ameri when Chima declared that she "will not lose to you" has nothing to do with school and it is Chima declaring her goal of getting Iruma from her.
  • Expressive Hair: The two "horns" of her hair twitch around when she's flustered and droop down when she's sad, not unlike a fox's ears.
  • Fanservice Pack: As the series progresses and Nishi's art style evolves, Ameri's bust, while already fairly endowed to begin with, gradually grows larger to the point she's now bustier than the adult women along with her legs and hips being more pronounced and shapely. Her facial features also shift from being rather stern and scary looking to softer and more approachable, which can be viewed as representing her growing feelings for Iruma helping her defrost. All of this is justifiable as her being a young teenager who's still maturing for her age, especially since the timespan has only been over a year.
  • Fiery Redhead: She's a very passionate and determined girl, with the reddish-orange hair to match.
  • Foil: She's this to Clara, in quite a few ways, as both are Iruma's two closest female friends:
    • Ameri's perceptive and disciplinarian nature serves as a stark contrast to Clara's, who is quite childish and can be a bit of a troublemaker herself. While Clara's a member of the infamous Misfit Class, Ameri's the famous Student Council President. This even extends to their looks as well: Clara is shorter than Iruma and has a petite figure, while Ameri towers over most of the entire cast and is very well-endowed for her age.
    • Both characters develop feelings for Iruma and eventually resolve to win his heart one day. However, while Clara often confuses her feelings with seeing him as a really good playmate, Ameri eventually realizes that her own feelings towards Iruma are that of a romantic nature.
    • Both of them had friendless backgrounds due to their reputations among the students of Babyls, which couldn't be any more different. Clara's known as annoying weirdo, being so disliked that she had to bribe other demons to play with her (and was taken advantage of because of that). Ameri, meanwhile, is an extremely admired and highly respected school figure, which prevented many students from approaching her in a casual manner.
    • They both have a missing parent from their lives. Clara's father is an adventurer who supports his family with his travels, while Ameri's mother is missing from her life and has not once been mentioned or shown in flashbacks, implying she may have passed away.
    • Both have in their attempts to get closer to Iruma have gone wrong from their efforts of trying too hard in being romantic with him. Clara tries to seduce him but fails every time due to her naivety and childishness while Ameri fails due to her height and superhuman strength causing damage. However, both manage to learn their lesson of accepting their unique charms and using them to their advantage.
  • Good Is Not Nice: She takes her job of Student Council President seriously, and isn't afraid to lay a smackdown on troublemakers to keep order.
  • Got Volunteered: How she ends up joining Team Kuromu for the Evidol Games. They needed a tough girl to act as their fourth idol, and she walked into the door right at that moment.
  • Guilty Pleasures: Came to love human shōjo manga well before she knew what's being written in it, yet due to her position and the numerous responsibilities that come with it, she's only managed to share this passion with Iruma.
  • Hartman Hips: Despite having noticeably large breasts, her hips are considerably wider. This becomes more apparent during her fight scenes. The Evidol Games Arc further showcases this, as Ameri is seen wearing skin tight jeans emphasizing her shapely but thick hips.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: She is very attractive and usually causes heads to turn when she is wearing something different from her school uniform, such as a swimsuit or a dress.
  • Height Angst: While she never had a problem with her height for most the time, it's not until she gains feelings for Iruma does she become insecure with her tall stature, especially when she tries to have romantic moments with him that isn't possible due to her being so tall for her age.
  • Hidden Buxom: Downplayed, as Ameri's normal attire shows she's got a pretty well-endowed figure on her that accumulates her curves. Once she's seen in something like a dress or a swimsuit during her date with Iruma it becomes apparent that she is stacked for her age compared to adult women.
  • Hidden Depths: Ameri has a bunch of them:
    • She adores shōjo manga, even though she can't read it. She became ecstatic when she found out that Iruma can, and so she has him read it to her.
    • When she graduates from school, she plans to either work with her father or open a bakery or flower shop.
    • Her reversed personality reveals that she constantly worries that she isn't worthy of the faith that her subordinates place in her, at least until Iruma helps her realize that they follow her because she's their friend, not because of her position.
    • Every current member of the Student Council sans Ronove and Nafra was once a delinquent that was down on his or her luck that she rescued. All of them are very loyal to her because of this.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Ameri usually portrays herself as strict, cold and ruthless towards others, having no problems in intimidating other students into submission, which makes her feared by most of the students. In reality, she cares greatly about all the students at her school and strives to create an environment that nurtures and enables them, allowing them to grow as demons and achieve their own ambitions. She portrays herself as one of the most threatening figures the school has to offer in order to protect the student body, since she keeps some of the rowdier and more devious students in check and prevents them from running amok. Additionally, privately she behaves a lot more girly and kinder than she does in public, and even begins to drop her mask much more as the series continues.
  • Holding Hands: As a big fan of the cliche-filled Hatsukoi Memories, she views holding hands as one of the biggest displays of closeness between potential lovers. She tried to invoke this during her and Iruma's aquarium date, but learned that the size-difference between them was so great that she had no hope of finding a good moment to hold his hand, which made her disappointed and self-conscious. That said, she eventually got the chance to hold hands with Iruma when he invited her to dance at the Deviculum, which made her immensely happy.
  • Hot-Blooded: Downplayed. Despite her willingness to get physical at a moment’s notice and the nature of her bloodline ability, she’s rarely one to let her emotions dominate her actions. Demonstrated best by her reaction to Kuromu proposing to her crush Iruma during the Evidol Games. While she was visibly upset, Ameri kept her cool long enough for Iruma to explain the situation, and held no grudge against him or Kuromu next chapter. She instead channels her frustration into a Curb-Stomp Battle for the next competition.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: She's one of the tallest students in the school, and even has a height advantage on much of the faculty. She has a bit of a complex about her height, believing that it makes her more intimidating than she wants to be, especially when she compares herself to her crush Iruma.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Any time she sees others causing a ruckus or being loud, she shouts to "DO IT QUIETLY!" Often accompanied by kicking down a wall herself.
    I-P
  • I Am Not Pretty: The source of her lack of progress in her affections towards Iruma. Due to her tall height, strict demeanor and brute strength Ameri doesn't think that she's "cute" enough in Iruma's eyes. This was made more notable when Iruma mentions how he thought that Ameri acting as the Student Council President is so different from the Ameri that he hangs out with. Arikled surmises that her temporary change in personality happening at all and lasting for so long was due to her desire to look cute in Iruma's eyes. Fortunately, she gets over this after realizing her feelings for him and understanding that he appreciates her best when just being herself, stern leader included.
  • I Just Want to Be Beautiful: A rare emotional aspect of this trope. There's no denying most demons consider Ameri stunningly attractive, but to herself she thinks she's too scary and strict and not cute enough to appeal to Iruma. This is also largely the reason Eligos's personality potion lasted so long was because she wanted to look cute in Iruma's eyes. Once Ameri realizes her feelings for him, she trusts that Iruma already considers her to be beautiful already.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Like stated above, this is also one of the reasons why the personality potion lasted so long, was because she wanted to just be a normal girl to Iruma.
  • Implied Love Interest: To Iruma. Numerous girls throughout the school develop crushes on him to various degrees, one of them being Clara, the series's main female character. Despite this, it's Ameri whose romantic feelings are emphasized the most, having received the most Ship Tease with him. Iruma himself being Oblivious to Love doesn’t help matters. Her dance with Iruma at the Deviculum seems to finally labeled Ameri as the official love interest for Iruma, as they both reaffirm how they’d like to get to know each other deeper, soon after Iruma’s other friends confirmed they’re content with their current relationship, and the formerly-oblivious Iruma begins to visibly show signs of attraction around Ameri afterwards.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Her given name has been alternately translated as Ameri and Amelie.
  • Insecure Love Interest:
    • Not necessarily about her feelings for Iruma, but more about her own appearance and behavior due to said feelings. Despite being beloved and admired by demons both inside and outside of Babyls, she doesn't think of herself as "cute" enough for Iruma. Arikled theorizes that this is the reason as to why Schnell's personality-changing potion worked on Ameri for so long, made more apparent by the fact that during that time, she acted more feminine when she was around Iruma.
    • These insecurities come up again during Ameri's water park "date" with Iruma. Not only does she blame her height for her failure to hold Iruma's hand, but she also thinks that her Super-Strength will make Iruma think that she's a "huge, aggressive woman" - despite said strength literally saving him from being eaten.
  • Interspecies Romance: The first thing that Ameri knew about Iruma was that he’s most likely a human (and therefore should be considered her ‘'food’’). Everything else, from getting to know him to encouraging him to find a goal in life to congratulating him on his successes and even to her Love Realization, was all with the knowledge of his true nature.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Downplayed in the manga when she first met Iruma, she referred to him as "it". She drops it immediately when she gets to know him. In the anime, she refers Iruma with masculine pronouns when they first meet.
  • Jerkass to One: While Ameri is nice towards everyone around her, even her fellow love rivals when they upset her, she treats Schnare Eligos with nothing but contempt and disgust ever since he forced the potion that made her meek and nearly losing her position as President. Given that Eligos causes nothing but problems and has a creepy stalker like behavior towards her, it's hard to blame her.
  • The Juggernaut: When she puts Romanticist into overdrive, she's practically unstoppable, not only tanking attacks from strong opponents before crushing them with Super-Strength-enhanced kicks, but her absolute confidence in being able to handle herself even lets her completely ignore debilitating effects like poison, powering through to continue crushing her enemy.
  • Just the Way You Are:
    • She knows Iruma is human, but doesn't care. Even though she was understandibly disturbed by him wearing dressing as "Irumi," by the end of the Evidol Games Arc, she's made peace with it and accepts it as his "hobby" (and likely that Kerori finally explained the real circumstances about it).
    • Applies this trope to herself as well. Once the personality potion on her was undone, she looked at herself in a mirror thinking she was too bold and not cute enough in Iruma's eyes (which also confirms Arikleds theory that the potion lasted for as long as it did due to her own insecurities about herself). Once she remembers what Iruma said about her, she gets over it and says she looks just right.
  • Keeping the Enemy Close: Ameri will consider taking demons into the Student Council who are rivals to her and potential threats. This is both to keep an eye on them, but also gives her a challenge to constantly handle.
    • After his defeat in the Battler Election, she offers Romiere a place because of his skills in leadership, charisma, and the fact he is the only demon of their year to beat her in any of the First Year competitions. He scored higher in the Music Festival.
    • Soon into her Third Year, she is considering new students to join the Student Council and seriously considers Chima Crocell, not just because she is one of the top students academically, but Ameri fears that if Chima weren't in the Student Council, she would join whatever Battler Iruma is part of as a means of worming her way closer to Iruma's heart.
  • Kick Chick: She uses physical strength rather than magic in combat, and while she is willing to use her fists if necessary, her legs are by far her deadliest and most used weapons.
  • Lady of War: She's one of the best fighters in school, and backs up her phenomenal strength with graceful, refined martial arts.
  • Laugh of Love: During the Deviculum, when Ameri learns Iruma can't dance and took her outside to avoid embarrassment, she can't help but laugh at his innocence.
  • Leg Focus: As a Statuesque Stunner in a short skirt with a Kick Chick fighting style, naturally she gets plenty of scenes showing said legs off, especially when fighting. Her legs are given especially big focus during her date with Iruma at the Aquarium, where she's in a sarong that fully exposes her legs for Male Gaze.
  • Lethal Chef: Try as she might, she can't cook. Her father didn't exactly stomach what she cooked for him as a child, but he never told her the truth as he didn't want to upset her. As such, she hasn't really improved: When she tries to make Valentine's Day cookies with Iruma (who also sucks at cooking), the resulting concoction looks like it belongs in a layer of hell. Opera had to intervene in order to teach them how to do so properly.
  • Like Father, Like Son: A half-way Gender-Inverted example, with Ameri inheriting a lot of her behavior (both good and bad) from her father. Hell, she even inherited most of her looks from him (hair color, style, and height).
  • Love at First Sight: She somewhat lampshades this, thinking that this would be an effect of the way they first met due to the forbidden texts that she's read. These also cause her to initially suspect that Iruma was using "human charms" on her shortly afterwards, not realizing for a while that she's genuinely falling in love with him.
  • Love Epiphany: After she catches Iruma in a dress, she was traumatized for a week. This, however, caused her to re-evaluate her current relationship with him, as she wonders just what he means to her. When Iruma helps her regain her confidence during her debate against Ronove after her personality is reversed, she realizes that she's fallen in love with him upon fully recovering. From then on, she's made it one of her goals to have him look at her the same way that she does him.
Ameri: Oh, wait... Am I supposed to realize it like this, at such an important time? All my thanks, my apologies, my touch and my laughter... I want you to be the first to receive all of them. Iruma... It seems I’m in love with you.
  • Love Interest: As of Chapter 180, Ameri seems to have finally become this towards Iruma.
  • Love Makes You Dumb: Deconstructed and subverted. She's fully aware about letting her feelings for Iruma get the better of her and ensures to not favor him due to said feelings. But when her personality was reversed making her shy and timid resulted in her newfound feelings getting the better of her, which nearly cost both her position as Student Council President, but the student council itself would have been disolved had Iruma not snapped her back to herself.
  • Luminescent Blush: She frequently has this whenever Iruma reads aloud Hatsukoi Memory to her, gushing over the romance between the two leads. She later sports these more often upon gaining romantic feelings for Iruma.
  • Male Gaze: Her legs get a lot of focus, showcasing how long and shapely they are for a girl her age.
  • Married to the Job: Ever since she became the Student Council President, Ameri was so focused on her role and protecting her fellow students that she never really bothered to have a life of her own. She didn't have anyone to talk to (outside her father and the Student Council), let alone friends. Iruma even remarks during their date that she focuses on her duties so much that she doesn't have much time to simply relax and have fun.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: With the shy, sensitive Iruma - she's a quintessential Tomboy with a Girly Streak, bonding with him because he has the same girly hobbies that she does.
  • Mirror Character:
    • Despite coming from literal different worlds, Iruma and Ameri have developed very similar passions to each other. They both geek out over reading human manga, enjoy baking despite being Lethal Chefs, and Iruma’s come to share Ameri’s drive for aiming high and self-improvement.
    • Iruma’s evolved into a very talented, ambitious individual, with his feats often compared to Ameri's. Both have proven themselves natural leaders, with a fondness of adopting oddballs and inspiring them into capable, loyal followers. They even share similar achievements, as winners of their Harvest Festivals and as the highest-ranked students of their respective year. Furthermore, their ambitions became quite similar as well; Ameri wishes to protect the students of Babyls so they can learn how to achieve their own happiness, while Iruma wishes to grow stronger to protect his friends so they can live fun and fulfilling lives.
  • Mirror Morality Machine: She gets her personality temporarily reversed during Iruma's brief tenure as a member of the Student Council thanks to a potion, changing her from a tough no nonsense tomboy into an adorably shy cute girl. This causes her to become incredibly incomptent at her position, but the fact she acts so cute while doing so causes the rest of the Student Council to not have it in their hearts to tell her.
  • Missing Mom: No mention of her mother has been shown. As even in flashbacks she's not been shown, which may imply she has passed away when she was very young. Ameri's mom finally makes an appearance in Chapter 326. she appears in a brief imagine spot of Henri's when he reminisces about her after seeing Ameri smile at Iruma.
  • Ms. Fanservice: While Ameri is a little insecure with herself due to her strict behavior and tall stature, she's a very beautiful woman who is the eye candy for all the boys in her school. She's a tall woman for her age with hip length hair and the largest set of boobs of the female case to match, she has many boys in the school vying for her attention. When her personality was reversed, some of Ameri's own council members found her to be very cute to the point where they were unable to scold her for her inability to do her work. During their trip to Walter Park, Kerori, Elizabetta, Clara, and even Iruma found her to be beautiful and with good style after seeing her in a red dress. Her date with Iruma features her in a bikini top and sarong showing off her long legs.
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: While having Super-Strength means she isn't necessarily bulky with muscle, the nature of said strength involving Uninhibited Muscle Power means she needs to keep herself fit and muscular in order to make meaningful use of it, and when she wears more exposing outfits it becomes apparent that she has a much more athletic body than the average demon girl.
  • Nerves of Steel: Ameri doesn't even flinch when faced against large demons that could kill an average student. Even someone as stoic as Opera was impressed by her level of emotional control.
  • Nice Girl: She's usually stern and intimidating, maintaining a tough demeanor when out in public. But in private, around Iruma and her friends, she's actually a very kind, honest, and hardworking young woman who only wants nothing but the best for her school.
  • No Guy Wants an Amazon: She fully believes this, as when she started to develop feelings for Iruma she suspected he wouldn't want to be with her because she was a "brute" and not "cute". It was because of this mindset that when her personality was flipped, the reason why it lasted as long as it did was because she wanted to remain "cute".
  • Not So Above It All: She emanates a calm and imposing demeanor befitting of a tough student council president. But, she turns into a Closet Geek when reading the Forbidden Books of Humanity, aka shoujo manga.
  • No Social Skills: Due to her strictness along with her duties to the Student Council, Ameri was very awkward when trying to act herself, making her come off as either intimidating or scary. Once Iruma comes in her life does she mellow out and become more open and warmer towards others and less strict.
  • Odd Friendship: She seems to have formed something of a bond with Iruma's butler, Opera, as the two worked well together when fighting the magic beasts that were terrorizing Walter Park. Opera notices this and invites her to become their apprentice, which she respectfully declines (but reconsiders after realizing she would get to live with Iruma).
  • One-Woman Army: As the leader of the Student Council, Ameri is well-known for her strength and charisma, and doesn’t break a sweat when fighting against multiple students at once. Her fight against beasts in Walter Park consists of her easily curb-stomping a giant rat demon all on her own, brutally beating it into submission with a kick.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Even she is scared to death of her father when he gets upset. This gets even worse when he (correctly) guesses that his daughter now has feelings for Iruma and warns her to never associate with him. Still, this doesn't work, as her feelings for him only grow stronger.
  • Out of Focus:
    • Due to being a senior Babyls student to Iruma, Ameri will end up going long stretches of not appearing all that much when an arc is focused around the developments of the Misfit Class. Some of the longer arcs, such as the Harvest Festival and Heartbreaker Exam for example, her appearances are quite low.
    • Her reading sessions with Iruma are also being having less focus. Ever since Iruma went to improve himself, they both end up having less private time together to read. It accumulates when Iruma thinks about being close to her as much as he can so he can be at her side, and having similar thoughts. Their alone time outside of school then has nothing to do with Hatsukoi Memories.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Downplayed. As this only applies when she's on the clock as the President. Once she learns to be herself, she acts more cheerful and happy when off duty, and eventually it extends to on-duty as well.
  • Personality Powers: Her bloodline ability directly ties her self-confidence to her physical and magical strength. As noted by Opera, Ameri being more than willing enough to use such a power against demonic beasts terrorizing Walter Park at a young age speaks to just how determined and confident she is when it comes to her many ambitions.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Her Super-Strength is ludicrously powerful when she goes all-out - as one of the magical beasts attacking Walter Park found out, even being the size of a skyscraper (and considerably more durable) won't save you from her.
  • Plucky Girl: She's a bold, optimistic, energetic girl who's not afraid to voice her opinion, and her crush on Iruma shows how determined she is in winning his heart.
  • Poor Communication Kills: When her father met Iruma, she tried to clear up any misunderstandings (at the time) about their relationship. Unfortunately, her telling him about how they "are alone, drink tea, and talk about love, relationships and futures together" leads the poor man to think that his daughter and Iruma are dating. It's even more ironic on her part, as she actually was telling the truth about everything.
  • Power at a Price: Even when her Psychoactive Powers are working properly, they're not without a cost. By channeling magic through her body, she can increase her strength to One-Man Army or even Person of Mass Destruction levels, but that still requires her to channel magic through her body, which is as exhausting and potentially dangerous as one might imagine. Keeping herself physically fit and engaging in specialised training will increase the amount she can safely augment herself by (both actively and passively), but she can still only go to maximum power for a few seconds before incapacitating herself.
  • Power Glows: In the anime, when invoking the immense full power of Romanticist, her hair glows with a bright white shine, with floral patterns flowing throughout the strands.
  • Properly Paranoid: After her father meets with Iruma for the first time, and after her talking about him and what they do together, she realizes he's caught on to her feelings for him and rightfully chooses to deny them to her father knowing he would not take that well.
  • Psychoactive Powers: Her bloodline ability uses self-suggestion to draw out her maximum power. The only downside to this is that if she ever doubts herself or is scared of an enemy, she becomes much weaker. As such, she's much more emotionally invested in projecting an impression of strength at all times than most other people would be, because any impression of strength is real strength to her.
  • Public Secret Message: Ameri tells her father that Iruma is "A Very Excellent Demon." He seems to understand what she means and leaves Iruma alone after that.
    R-Y
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: Being both the highest ranking student in the school as well as the president of the school’s student governing body, Ameri commands a ton of respect from demons all around her. So, it’s only fitting enough that she’s able to take down a demonic beast that was terrorizing Walter Park all on her own - something that not even Sabnock and Asmodeus could do while working together. It was more or less a Curb-Stomp Battle as well, which puts her closer in power to the Cheth [8]-ranked teachers accompanying her group.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Ameri may be strict with her duties as the Student Council President, but she (almost) never abuses her privileges, nor does she tolerate anyone doing the same. While she did force Iruma to join the Student Council when his Battler was suspended, her intention was to train him in order to get a letter of recommendation from her division that he’d need to resume his activities, and afterwards willingly allowed him to leave to pursue his own ambitions, despite personally wanting him to stay in the council. After realizing her love for Iruma, Ameri still refuses to let her attraction cloud her judgement, even lamenting how she couldn’t just approve Iruma’s later request for his class to transfer to the Royal One dorms without him proving his class had earned the privilege.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: When forcibly recruited to Kuromu's idol team, everyone else performing is wearing modest, regular idol outfits. Meanwhile, to compete with the skin-showing rival Gyari, Ameri's stuck in a short vest and single-leg pants, prompting her to cover her chest and blush in embarrassment.
    • This can be considered odd since she showed no discomfort in her usual outfit that shows off a lot of her legs or her date when in a bikini top showing off her stomach and breasts around Iruma. Though considering this is in front of hundreds of Demons and on television and the possibility her father could be watching, it would make sense why she'd be embarrassed.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Her "Romanticist" power involves enhancing one's body with Super-Strength to become a Lightning Bruiser based on the users level of confidence. While she's got the unbreakable willpower to bring out its full power at all times, the ability itself does not grant any enhanced durability or endurance when active, so to bring out its full potential Ameri needs to keep her body physically fit, and the only way to increase her maximum strength is through constantly training her body and gaining more muscle.
  • Rich Suitor, Poor Suitor: While the guys who are interested in her are rich, she's more interested in Iruma. Downplayed in that Iruma is also wealthy himself, but he has the personality associated with the poor suitor while the other guys that she knows (such as Ronove) has the personality of the rich suitor.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: In the beginning of the story, she suspects that Iruma is a human because he both summons a demon (rather than a familiar) and creates a sakura tree (a plant that only exists in the human world). However, what convinces her of this is that he "tries" to use a Crash-Into Hello to make her fall in love with him, something that is in reality a complete accident. She only thinks this because it's what happened in the manga that she was reading.
  • The Rival:
    • Clara considers her to be one when it comes to seeing who gets to spend more time with Iruma. In turn, Ameri considers her to be one for Iruma's affections after the girls' only party.
    • Played With when Ameri's third-year begins, the first-year student Chima declares to Ameri she "will not lose to you". Ameri at first thinks that meant she was going to be a rival for top student of the school and happily accepts it. Only for her to have an Oh, Crap! moment when it's revealed she meant Iruma.
  • Running Gag:
    • She occasionally gets mad at Iruma whenever he offers her something and she takes it to be a more romantic gesture than it actually is - until he reminds her of what he actually said.
    • Whenever Iruma is Dragged into Drag, Ameri ends up encountering him and comically overreacts, to the point she had nightmares about it for several days. The fourth time this happened, she ends up being dragged into performing alongside "Irumi" on-stage.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Amelie's introduction came surrounded by romance clichés like Crash-Into Hello, Luminescent Blush Crush At First Sight, fangirling over generic shoujo manga, and seeming Tsundere behavior towards Iruma, but as soon after that the series subverts the pitfalls it was signalling. Even without her romantic subplot with Iruma, Ameri would remain a pivotal character in the series. She becomes perhaps the most singularly important person for Iruma's character growth by asking him the right Armor-Piercing Question that prompts him to search for his own ambition. As the series continues, she doesn’t allow her crush on Iruma to compromise her duties or her own agency, while also developing independently and gaining new friend circles and hobbies of her own.
  • Secretly Selfish: Downplayed in most instances:
    • She forced Iruma to read her forbidden human texts that she likes upon finding out that he could when they first met. However, Iruma himself was unable to say no to any request at the time.
    • Following the disbanding of Iruma's battler as a result of Kiriwo's attempt to blow up the school, Ameri has Iruma join the Student Council, after he previously declined her attempt at inviting him. However, one of her reasons for doing so was to help him get a letter of recommendation from her division, and was for his own benefit as much as it was her enjoyment. In fact, when Iruma later declined to remain after earning his recommendation, Ameri became the first person ever that Iruma directly told “no” to, and she accepted his decision with a smile.
  • Secret-Keeper:
    • Due to being put to work as a security member for the Evidol Games, Ameri winds up in a situation where due to Team Kuromu being put in a desperate situation needing a last minute team member, Ameri ends up becoming part of the team. Thus, she's one of the few that knows that the misfit, Kerori, is the famous evidol, Kuromu.
    • She's also one of the few that came to realize that Iruma has an evidol persona as "Irumi." The same goes for Lied as "Lindy."
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: She figures out entirely on her own that Iruma's a human, and she eventually decides to keep that fact a secret to herself.
  • Shared Family Quirks: She and her father, Henri, can act very similar at times. The two are very perceptive and can be intimidating when they want to be. They also both have a short temper and overactive imagination, and they even tend to squeeze the cheeks of someone that they're investigating. Iruma goes so far as to lampshade this when he first meets Henri.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: While she's already real pretty in her own right, once she attends a ball with her father in a fancy dress with her hair done up, she looks stunning.
  • Ship Tease: Out of all the characters in the series, Ameri has received the most of this with Iruma. In fact, Ameri is the only student who is frequently featured spending time with Iruma by herself.
    • She blushes frequently when alone with Iruma as he reads ‘’Hatsukoi Memory’’, she gets flustered and adds fuel to the fire when Henri assumes too much of his daughter’s relationship with Iruma, she even melts into a puddle when he grabbed face during a pep talk when she was personality flipped. When his encouragement helps to break her brainwashing, Ameri outright admits she’s fallen in love with him.
    • On Iruma’s part, Ameri was the first person he chose to share his new ambition with after Walter Park, and he was the one to pick up on her unvoiced desires and invite her on their water park and home baking “dates.”
    • By the time of their private dance and intense hug at the Deviculum, it's now more than evident that Iruma himself may have started to unknowingly reciprocate her feelings as well, as they both easily fluster when around each other. Iruma’s Idiot Hair even begins to adopt a heart shape when greeting Ameri, something previously reserved for his love of food.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Despite many students fawning over her beauty and charisma as the Student Council President, she's never once shown a hint of romantic interest towards anyone other than the shy yet kind-hearted Iruma. She's even admitted to herself that she finds him very charming, cool, and cute.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Unlike most of the girls in the school who are attracted to Iruma for things like his numerous achievements in school, him being Sullivan's grandchild, and how cute he is, Ameri acknowledged that she fell in love with him for the kind, honest, and hardworking person who would do anything for anyone. The fact that she knows that Iruma's a human won't stop her from pursuing him romantically.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: Ameri begins to act more and more like this whenever Iruma is brought into the picture following their private reading sessions, though she desperately tries to hide it. Upon realizing her feelings for him, however, this intensifies to the point she can’t get close to or even think about Iruma without acting this way.
  • So Proud of You: She says this to herself about Iruma after the Walter Park incident, when he tells her about his new ambition to protect others and asks her to watch him. She couldn't help but to smile at him when he said that.
Ameri: You... every time I let you out of my sight... with a sparkle, you become stronger and stronger.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's the tallest female in the series, and easily towers over Iruma. In fact, she towers over most of the demons in the school, which includes both students and the faculty. Her father is even taller than her, so this is probably a genetic trait. The January 2021 databook reveals that her height is 190cm (6'3"). And, as noted in the Ms. Fanservice entry above, she's also very attractive and busty.
  • Strong and Skilled: She may rely on magical Super-Strength to fight, but that doesn't make her a simple brute - she's a highly skilled martial artist with a graceful, refined fighting style.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Long hair notwithstanding, Ameri is the spitting image of her father. Chapter 326 shows some of her facial features were gained from her mother as seen in Henri's brief image of her.
  • Student Council President: She definitely has both the personality and the power of a disciplinary leader of the student council. Especially in a school full of demons.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Ameri usually portrays herself as stoic, aloof and calm in public, but when she's around either her forbidden texts, Iruma, or both, her hard exterior melts away, showing her sweet and girly side underneath. She's also got Psychoactive Powers, so she's stuck in a vicious cycle of maintaining the 'ice' part so she remains strong enough to maintain it.
  • Super-Strength: Thanks to her bloodline magic, Romanticist, she's one of the strongest students in school, able to down demons twice her (impressive) size with a punch to the jaw or kick straight through a stone wall. Then comes the Walter Park arc, where we get to see the absolute limits of what she's capable of - namely, demolishing a Godzilla-sized magical beast in single combat.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Parodied. When she realizes that Clara is a potential rival for Iruma's affections, Ameri states that she now knows how the love rival in Hatsukoi Memory feels.
  • Thinks Like a Romance Novel: Well, like a romance manga. Reading too much Hatsukoi Memory makes her picture just about all of her solo encounters with Iruma as a scene from the manga, which reality usually corrects harshly.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: The Huge Girl to Iruma's Tiny Guy. The two are closer in height when she's sitting on the floor. To be more specific, Ameri when she's standing is two heads taller than Iruma when he's standing, while he's one head taller than her if he stays standing while she's sitting on the ground. This is made much more noticeable during their water park and Deviculum dates, as many of the romantic activities (such as holding hands and dancing) were more difficult to pull off due to their unusually large height difference.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She's a deadly fighter and terrifying disciplinarian - who's also a huge fan of shoujo romance manga and considers opening a bakery or flower shop after she graduates. Notably, Iruma himself has girly enough interests that these become the first thing they bond over.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: She started out as a stern and cold woman who never seemed to have made any time making friends due to her duties as the Student Council President. After befriending Iruma, though, she starts to open up and start acting more like an ordinary teenage girl. She's begun to smile more often, and she even seems to have formed her own girl group consisting of her, Clara, Kerori, and Elizabetta, and the regular students even comment on her happier demeanor.
  • Tough Love: When Iruma joins the Student Council, she's very strict and hard on him, keeping him on his feet for the entire school day, even denying him his favorite thing in the world, food. She also refuses Sullivan's attempts to spoil him, not wanting anyone to interfere with his training. However, she will not force him to do anything that is beyond his ability and is only doing this out of her earnest desire to help him better himself without depending on others, as she’s been acutely aware of his initial meek and defeatist nature. This pays off upon his training concluding. Iruma learned to become more assertive than he's ever been and even told her “no” when she offered a permanent spot in the Student Council, something he'd ‘'never’’ had the courage to do before.
  • Tranquil Fury: Upon first meeting Iruma and realizing that he's a human, she was seething with rage but calmed herself to see the bigger picture knowing the trouble it would cause if others were to know of it. This was played more straight upon meeting Schnare Eligos, the man who put the personality potion on her and nearly costed her the position as Student Council President. She was so enraged and disgusted by his actions she forced him to run the hellish Student Council training course 50 times.
  • Tsundere: Unlike most examples, she definitely knows that she likes the guy she's tsundere for, and has no issues with him personally. Instead, her problem is reconciling it with . She's supposed to be the terrifying demon queen of Babyls's student body and takes immense pride in her position and her work, but hanging out with Iruma, geeking out over shoujo manga, and letting herself be an ordinary teenage girl is far too much fun. To make matters worse, her magic is directly tied to her self-confidence, so she's understandably invested in maintaining her intimidating, confident demeanor she portrays to the school. That being said, she eventually evolves out of this trope as she Took a Level in Cheerfulness, while Iruma’s classmate Kerori evolves into a regular example of the archetype.
  • Uninhibited Muscle Power: The main aspect of her bloodline ability, Romanticist, involves drawing out the full extent of the user's abilities so long as they hold absolute confidence in themselves. However, once the effect wears off, Ameri ends up with her whole body in agony from being pushed to its limit for as long as it took to beat her enemy.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Just about all of Babyls highly respects her for her charisma, presence, talent, and beauty. She keeps the whole student body in check, yet she's always there to help improve her fellow students and make them feel safe. These very reasons are also why every one of her fellow Student Council members are fiercely loyal to her.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Although Ameri isn't Iruma's girlfriend, the mere thought of anyone hurting him is enough to cause her to fly into a rage. While they were on a "date" at a water park, a sea creature suddenly tries to eat him. In response, Ameri, without any hesitation, uses her bloodline ability to brutally knock said creature out in a single punch. The water park staff were so horrified by these events that they gave the two a 1-year pass as an apology for the incident.
  • Walking Swimsuit Scene: Her date with Iruma features her in a swimsuit and sarong.
  • Wall Pin of Love: She tries a Gender Inverted one on Iruma in one of the omakes to create a romantic atmosphere. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the effect she predicted, because it crushes the wall behind him.
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!: While she's far more liked, respected, and admired than the average 'jerk' in her normal state, the student council and Iruma run into this conundrum when her personality is changed to be cuter and friendlier. Her tamer and friendlier mindset makes her completely useless as council president, utterly unable to maintain school order and massively faltering on her work duties, but in this state she's so lovable, nobody can find it in their heart to actually try and defy the cuteness and make her potentially go back to normal.
  • What Is This Feeling?: She often has heart-fluttering feelings when thinking about Iruma that she doesn't know how to describe. She eventually affirms her affection for him later on, though.
  • When She Smiles: While Ameri is usually seen with a stern look on her face, she manages to smile more when she's around Iruma, as he always manages to bring out her kinder side. The smiles that she makes are absolutely adorable.
  • Workaholic: She personally takes care of a lot of work in the Student Council, to the point that splitting up the work between five other council members drove them all to exhaustion.
  • World's Most Beautiful Woman: The whole school in Babyls is drawn to her beauty and charisma, but many of the students never try to approach her due to both her intimidating aura and her prestigious position as the Student Council President.
  • Worthy Opponent: After defeating Ronove Romiere in the election she recruits him to the Student Council because she enjoyed having him challenge her and force her to fight for her position.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: When Iruma was feeling down after his team's elimination in the Heartbreak Exam, she gives his this speech by telling him because he was Aleph when they first met, he immediately climbed all the way to rank He, and is close enough to be rank Vav (6, her current rank). She then tells him she plans to get all the way to the highest possible rank, which motivates him enough to do the same and work harder than before so he can be in the same rank as her.
  • You Were Trying Too Hard: Her aquarium date with Iruma can be seen as this, since due to her desire to have even a single romantic moment alone with him, she tries too hard at almost everything, such as underestimating the height difference between the two, or engaging in activities while using her super strength, causing some damage to the place. She only finally gets the romantic moment she wanted during a situation where she just acted naturally, in this case getting a Bridal Carry from Iruma after she slightly hurt her leg protecting him from a rampaging animal.
  • Younger Than They Look: Despite her tall stature and physique, she's only a second-year student at Babyls at the start of the series, implying that she's only one or two years older than Iruma. It certainly wouldn't be surprising for others to mistake her for a young adult.
