The Great Ten
As a Whole
Tropes:
- Badass Crew
- Four-Philosophy Ensemble: For the first several characters: Tiwaz (Optimist), Fenrir (Cynic), Cog (Apathetic), Pav (Realist), Odie and Taranis (Conflicted)
- Ragtag Bunch of Misfits
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Mainly between Tiwaz and Fenrir. Cog also gets under most of the team's skin.
Tiwaz Koenig
EmperorGreymon
Tiwaz Koenig is a wandering adventure (a knight-errant, he calls himself) who travels from place to place, doing odd jobs that require his services, which consist of muscle, fighting ability, and his unique ability to manipulate fire.
Tropes:
- Accidental Misnaming: Tiwaz is bothered the most by Cog's constant forgetfulness of his name.
- All a Part of the Job: He loves helping people, even despite the danger.
- All-Loving Hero: To a degree. While he can be brash, rude, and argumentative, Tiwaz cares deeply about people, even ones who frustrate him to no end. He's even shaken up when Dietrich, a Jerkass who has tried to kill them on numerous occasions, dies at the hands of one of the Spirits, and he isn't able to save him, which he didn't have a second thought about trying to do.
- Animal Motifs: Dragons.
- Attack Drone: Pyro Dragons.
- Berserk Button: He seems to have a few, most of which are pressed by Fenrir. Cold, callous digimon who don't value other digimons' lives is one. Bullies are another, though Fenrir doesn't fall into that category.
- BFS/BFG: The Dragon Soul Sword.
- Flaming Sword: Also the Dragon Soul Sword.
- Big Brother Mentor: He serves/tries to serve this role for some of the younger members of the group.
- The Big Guy: One of them. Class 3 or 4.
- Boisterous Bruiser
- Book Dumb
- Bruiser with a Soft Center: He's a softy under his gruff exterior.
- Catchphrase: "Who dares, wins."
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: A major case of it. He'll help almost anybody who needs it, including enemies he was just fighting.
- Comes Great Responsibility: Tiwaz believes that gods like himself have a duty to protect those weaker.
- Dark Is Not Evil
- Deadpan Snarker: While not as prominent as Taranis, he still has his fair share of quips.
- Destructive Saviour: This happens quite a lot. His heroics and fighting style often tend to ramp up the damages bill.
- Determinator
- The Fettered: He won't kill if there's not a pressing need to.
- Fiery Salamander: Tiwaz to a 'T'.
- Forgot I Couldn't Swim: At the end of Chapter 3 Act 2, when the giant digimon splits the boat in half, Tiwaz jumps into the water to save a drowning Kaleth, either forgetting or not caring that he can't swim. Then again, the ship was sinking anyways and his armour was weighing him down, so the end result would have been the same.
- A Friend in Need
- Goggles Do Nothing: At first, Tiwaz's goggles are just for show, although they can be used for keeping sand out of his eyes.
- Gratuitous German: "Koenig/König" is German for "king".
- Guilty Pleasure: He has a massive soft spot for rabbits/bunnies/lagomorphs. And will vehemently deny liking "such cute, majestic creatures".
- Headbutting Heroes: He and Fenrir are this.
- The Heart: He's always trying to help his teammates and Odie admits that Tiwaz's optimism makes the journey easier and that it might be why Fenrir tolerates Tiwaz.
- The Hero: Sort of. As much as a hero can be in an ensemble cast.
- Idiot Hero: If he's not this, Fenrir definately thinks he is.
- Hey, You!: Usually calls Fenrir "Mutt".
- Hotblooded
- How Do I Shot Web?: When Tiwaz was younger, and he first gained his fire manipulation powers, he decided to sneak outside during the night to show his best friend Drazion. It took him awhile to actually make a flame, but when he did it kept growing and growing, as he was too inexperienced to control fire. Due to being new at it, Tiwaz had Power Incontinence and went into a minor Superpower Meltdown mode, with the fireball exploding and setting his house on fire, much to his horror.
- Hypocrite Tiwaz shows some shades of this. He's always willing to help others with their problems but won't let others help with his own.
- Icy Blue Eyes
- The Idealist: At least when compared with Fenrir.
- Immortality Begins at Twenty: Justified. He's not immortal, he just has a very extended lifespan due to being a god.
- Indy Ploy: Tiwaz's default "strategy"...
- In Harm's Way: While he's a Knight Errant more because he loves helping people and it being All a Part of the Job, Tiwaz does get a thrill from fighting bad guys.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Tiwaz can be very brash, rude, violent and touchy but when it comes down to it, he has a good heart.
- Jumped at the Call: Due to being a...
- Knight Errant
- Knight in Shining Armor: "A knight-errant" he calls it.
- Knight in Sour Armour: He isn't quite so naive as he seems. He knows how cruel the world can be, but that doesn't stop him from wanting to make it as good as possible.
- Large Ham: He has the tendency to be over-the-top.
- The Leader: Type III and a bit of Type IV. He's a determined and headstrong leader and is the first to set himself and his companions to a task. He also cares a lot about his friends, and he tries to serve as a mentor to them and help sort out their problems.
- Leeroy Jenkins: While he certainly doesn't do this all of the time, there are times where he'll ignore the strategy if he feels he has a good opportunity.
- Mangst: Surprisingly, given his outgoing personality, he doesn't ever like to talk about his problems with anybody, insisting on dealing with his problems himself (making him more like Fenrir than he'd probably like to believe).
- The McCoy
- Mood-Swinger: A non-extreme example.
- Mysterious Past
- Our Dragons Are Different
- Personality Powers: Hotheaded fire wielder.
- Physical God: A god of fire.
- Playing with Fire: He's a god of fire.
- Poor Communication Kills: Tiwaz and Fenrir's first fight in the Prologue was brought on by poor communication - with each thinking the other was a bandit.
- Quirky But Competent: Despite his personality faults and quirks, he's very capable fighter.
- Real Dragons Like Rabbits: Subverted. He has a huge soft spot for rabbits/rabbit digimon, but he's ashamed of it and would rather come up with ridiculous excuses than admit that he likes rabbits.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: With Fenrir. He's red.
- Emotions Versus Stoicism: Tiwaz is Emotions (except for when it comes to his Dark and Troubled Past) and Fenrir is Stoicism.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!
- Silly Rabbit, Cynicism Is for Losers!: Tiwaz calls Fenrir out on being so cynical.
- Super Drowning Skills: Justified, as he can't swim and wears heavy plate armour.
- Technician Versus Performer: Performer to Fenrir's 'technician'.
- Tsundere: Type A. Particularly with Fenrir.
- Volleying Insults: Between him and Fenrir. And Cog.

- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Though the heart of gold isn't seen all that often.
- The Lancer: To Tiwaz.
- Light 'em Up: He's a god of light, though unlike Tiwaz, it rarely ever shows as Fenrir doesn't use his powers.
- Light Is Good: Even though Good Is Not Nice.
- Loners Are Freaks: Tiwaz certainly thinks there's something wrong with Fenrir's anti-socialness and constantly tries to get him to partake in activities. When they're not arguing, at least.
- Mangst: He clearly has baggage, but he keeps it to himself.
- Master Swordsman
- Mysterious Past: Only flashes of it were revealed through his flashbacks.
- Noble Wolf: Fenrir fits the bill of this.
- The Nose Knows: As a wolf digimon, he uses his sense of smell.
- Perpetual Frowner
- Physical God: A god of light.
- Poor Communication Kills: Tiwaz and Fenrir's first fight in the Prologue was brought on by poor communication - with each thinking the other was a bandit.
- The Quiet One

- Red Oni, Blue Oni: With Tiwaz. He's blue.
- Emotions Versus Stoicism: Tiwaz is Emotions (except for when it comes to his Dark and Troubled Past) and Fenrir is Stoicism.

- Silly Rabbit, Idealism Is for Kids!: Expresses this towards Tiwaz.
- The Spock: Fenrir his very pragmatic and the ends justify the means.
- The Stoic: Except when Tiwaz pisses him off...
- Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Though it's about 90% ice.
