Player Character

    Aevis / Aevia / Axel / Ariana / Alain / Aero / Ana

Interceptor
The six (not counting one hidden) possible player characters. Collectively nicknamed "MC" (short for Main Character) by the fans. They are a new trainer traveling with their mother to the Aevium region to challenge its Pokémon League. Of course, things don't go as smoothly as hoped...
  • Action Girl: If female.
  • All There in the Manual: According to Zumi, the game's artist, each player character has a canon personality (which can be made apparent by the Player Personality Quiz at the start of the game) and they are as follows: Aevis is confident, Aevia is reserved, Axel is a tricky memester, Ariana is peppy, Alain is annoyed 24/7, and Aero is studious and cool. Ana's personality is currently unknown, as she isn't part of the personality quiz and can only be chosen through a password.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Axel, Ariana and Aero.
  • Ambiguous Gender: All of them potentially, given that the player can identify as any gender regardless of character chosen, but especially Alain and Aero who are stated by the creator to be non-binary, but are still referred to with she/her and he/him pronouns respectively in Crescent’s journal.
  • Appearance Is in the Eye of the Beholder: In Chapter 15, when asked to describe the player physically, Lavender, Huey and Aelita all see them as a different one of the six choices for player character.
  • Art Evolution: The entire selection of playable characters were redesigned with both higher fidelity sprites and entirely new hairstyles and outfits, each different enough that their original appearances were selectable through a password at the start of the game for fans of their old looks. 13.5 removes these passwords while still keeping Ana a secret playable character with one, updates their old designs to the art fidelity Rejuvenation has since matured into, and instead opts for a fairly difficult to miss sidequest first available very early in the game in which you're forced to use their updated old designs until you can find a rare item to trade to a borderline conman to access a toggle for either appearance.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: While complicated, it's perfectly possible to play them as one, having them maintain a positive relationship with most of the main cast while also racking up enough points to gain access to the Renegade Route.
  • Chosen One: They are the Interceptor, a being the Garufans predicted would exist outside of fate. Might also be one of the lights mentioned in the light prophecy.
  • Costume Evolution: To get in on most of the core cast changing outfits throughout the game, you also unlock new looks for your protagonist peridoically, but unlike your friends, you can always go back to older looks if you'd prefer.
  • Eviler than Thou: At the end of the Renegade route's .Karma Files, the protagonist, after being practically silent the whole game outside of dialogue options, goes on a lengthy monologue deconstructing M2's personality and motivations while making it very clear that the protagonist is utterly committed to destroying this world and everyone in it, and that they have absolutely no remorse or guilt for the friends they've hurt, betrayed, and outright murdered along the way. This completely cows the otherwise unflappable M2, who at least has enough humanity to be uncomfortable with the idea of people being erased from existence completely.
PLAYER: You were right. I spared Ren because I need him. For now. But when his time comes, he'll be erased too. Him, Erin, Venam, Aelita, Nymiera, Damien, Kanon... Vitus, Team Xen, the people of Aevium. The entire world.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Choosing all the wrong answers in the relationship part will make you this. With every character being annoyed and distrustful (at best) or outright hating you.
Venam (to Melia) : Next time don't let that piece of shit talk to me like that.
Melia (to Erin) : There's no way. I can't trust Player at all...They've been nothing but horrible to me.
  • Good Is Not Nice: For a given definition of good, but it's entirely possible to be a total jerk to your friends, help no one but exactly who the plot demands you to, and make all the choices that give you enough points to access the Renegade Route, only to reject it and "fight for the future" anyway. Kieran and Clear have some choice words for you beforehand if that's your MO.
Clear: "Just what is your goal in this world?"
Kieran: "Clearly it isn't to save it. If so, you're doing a pretty bad job."
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: As is usual in Pokémon games.
  • The Hero Dies: Thrice. The first time is when they gets knocked into lava by Geara atop Valor Mountain. Thankfully, Crescent's machinations ensures it doesn't stick. Then in Kugearen, they die when Indriad's maid detonates a bomb powerful enough to destroy the city, but this time, it's Madame X of all people who saves them and rewinds time to just before the explosion. And the third time in the Bad Future after blocking a Decimate from Melanie's Yveltal that was meant for Melia. Again, they come back just like last time. According to Madame X, them being the Interceptor has something to do with their inability to die, meaning Crescent potentially had nothing to do with saving them from the lava either. Chapter 15 confirms that it's because the process that Crescent used to revive the Player characters also gave them the ability to revive repeatedly and that she has died once already for the Protagonist. The same Chapter also reveals that the Interceptor's next death will be the final one.
  • Heroic Mime: The player is not actually mute, but in previous versions didn't speak outside of the occasional dialogue option. It's lampshaded by a lot of characters- various members of Team Xen mock their blank stare and lack of speech, and Erin calls them 'mute' before she learns their actual name. Heavily averted by the person whose body they inhabit: They are 'very' talkative. As of Chapter 15's release, many sections of the game have been reworked to give them many more opportunities to speak up, thus averting this trope.
  • Heroic BSoD: Despite being a Heroic Mime, they go through one after Nancy's death, staying in their cabin for days and barely speaking to those who try to talk to them.
  • Iconic Item: Mostly averted; none of them have the usual Pokémon protagonist hat except for Aevis in his second outfit.
  • Immune to Fate: Their role as the Interceptor. Chapter 15 reveals that it's because they aren't from this world.
  • Jerkass Ball : Justified as the relationship system allow the player to be either a Nice Guy or a complete Jerkass to the other character depending on your choice. They can leave Kreiss locked up in Angie's church, not saving Amber in Valor Mountain, ignore Reina's pleas for help and abandon her in the Valor Mountain Crossing, pretend to try to help the captured police officer just to leave him to die anyway so they can save their own skin...or call Venam "gross" on the Grand Express for not buying you a Soda Pop (something only possible if you have an only passable relationship with her). The worst offense happens at the end of the Hidden Library questline: They can watch Karrina murder Karen without interfering. If that's not bad enough, while Karrina is throwing Karen's body down a hole, they can push Karrina in after her. Of course, this is averted depending on player choices.
    • This reaches its' culmination in Chapter 15: Performing enough Kick the Dog moments will give them the option to outright betray all of their friends and join forces with Kieran and Clear to bring forth the end of the world.
  • Mind Hive: The one you picked hosts the souls of the other choices, as well as the Interceptor, who is a separate being and the dominant personality.
  • Mysterious Past: Little is known about their past, but more is being revealed as the game goes on. It is revealed that each possible MC was in fact a separate person, and that they lived in Aevium before the Calamity. They are also bonded with a soul called Adrest, and in Chapter 14 he briefly takes over their body to provide crucial information.
    • Their backstory is revealed in Chapter 15: All six characters were students of Phoenix Academy in Spotlight City. The one you chose at the start of the game was Crescent's closest friend, who had explicitly reciprocated feelings for her, and the one that she resurrected using the Black Boxes. However, their body is also inhabited by the souls of all of their friends and, in order to escape from the pain and the trauma that Storm-9 caused them, they give full control of their body to the Interceptor and ended up laying dormant inside of them with the other potential player character hosts. But this is still played straight with the soul of the Interceptor who is said to be from another world, leaving it to the player to decide the Interceptor's past.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Due to the Interceptor themselves being from another world (and thus outside "the weave of fate's design" and their position as the Interceptor making them Immune to Fate, plus the fact that the player characters/hosts themselves were all dead before Crescent revived them, there was pretty much no way that anyone could have seen them coming.
  • Repressed Memories:
    • In Chapter 8, Crescent says that it wouldn't surprise her if they forgot what happened to them 'again', implying that the MC may have amnesia or been repressing other memories. Chapter 15 reveals it's more complicated as the Interceptor is a different soul than the Player Character that Crescent knows personally.
    • When they reach a house near Hiyoshi Pass, the screen fades to black and mysterious voices are heard, which affect them so much that they lose consciousness. Who the voices belong to and what happened to them is unknown. When they return to that same house in the present it is implied that the voices belonged to each of the six playable characters.
  • Resurrective Immortality: Has died twice onscreen so far, and neither of the deaths has stuck. This is one of the Interceptor's powers. However, they later discover in Zeight that their last two deaths have consumed most of their life-hold, and if they die again then it will be permanent.
  • Screw Destiny: Garufan culture apparently believes that while You Cannot Fight Fate normally since everything is predestined, the Interceptor is Immune to Fate. It helps that a soul from another world would be a wild card in the grand scheme of things.
  • Signature Move: After the Interceptor and their host properly join forces, they unlock a special Z-Crystal that gives them access to four exclusive moves.
  • Suddenly Voiced:
    • In Chapter 13 choosing the "Hand It Over" ending will make them respond a small "...Okay" to Amber, just before being erased from existance. Happens again in Chapter 14 while playing as Aelita.
    • Also in Chapter 14 they are briefly possessed Adrest in order to explain to the group that they must retrieve the Jewel of Life to return water to the Spring of Rejuvenation. Ren points out that this voice sounds different from their usual one.
    • During Renegade Route, the player speaks once again when M2 gets mad at them for their actions, telling M2 that they feel no remorse for their actions, that they fully intend to die alongside everyone else when their objectives are fulfilled, and they could have killed M2 at any time.
  • Super Mode: Once Adrest is awakened and subsequently erased (Either by an unknown being in the Paragon Route or by themselves in the Renegade Route), they gain access to the Interceptor's full power, which includes a set of armor that even lets them cast spells. It's so powerful that it can even keep up with M2 in a straight-up fight, who is even stronger than Melia.
  • Theme Naming: All of their names begin with ‘A’, including Ana’s, and Adrest’s. Explained in Chapter 15; they were all in the same class because the classes were formed alphabetically by name. Adrest also following this naming scheme is still unaccounted for, however.
  • Tomato Surprise: When you entered a name at the start of the game, you were naming the Interceptor, not the player character. The player character is a completely different being, and already has a name.
  • Tragic Keepsake: After completing Blacksteeple Castle, the player is given the recently deceased Nancy’s Mawile. Later on, Ren gives you her perfect IV Sylveon.
  • Villain Protagonist: Whilst it's possible to play as such to some degree during the first 15 Chapters, allowing the player character to let characters like Karrina and Karen die, it's only in the optional Renegade Route that the character develops into this, feeling no remorse for the murders they have done and seeking the complete destruction of the world. They even become more talkative, allowing them to stress their motives.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The Interceptor's host does not pull back punches after they're forced to relieve Storm-9, and by extension their own death and the deaths of all their friends.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Ana wears a dress however you can choose to have her identify as Male.
  • You Don't Look Like You: Ana's "nostalgic" appearance is an entirely different design altogether, a seemingly unrelated girl with green hair. This turns out to be foreshadowing of who and what she is - during the "Missing Children" sidequest, you discover dozens of dormant copies of this same character in a warehouse alongside more of the same of the Ana we're familiar with and two more character designs, all different models of android created by the Garufan.

The deuteragonist of the story. She is the daughter of Professor Jenner and best friends with Venam and Ren. She has the strange power to attract shiny Pokémon. Could this power be related to why Team Xen has a target on her back?
  • Action Girl: She's a strong battler even before she gains Archetype powers.
  • Barrier Warrior: She can do this with her Archetype powers.
  • Black-and-White Morality: She doesn't really have any faith in anybody in Team Xen at first, even her Evil Former Friend Ren. This fades with time, though.
  • Chosen One: Possibly one of the four lights mentioned in the light prophecy.
  • Costume Evolution: Even without counting her alter-ego Emma and the costumes she takes on when using her powers Melia undergoes this trope the most of any character in the game by far, as evidenced by all her appearances to the right.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She has Dark-types and Ghost-types on her team, but she's far from evil, and all her Pokémon are named after various virtues.
  • Deuteragonist: She's the second most important character in the story, after the player themself.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Tells Spacea and Tiempa after you go through the doomed timeline that if they ever put you or her through something like that again, she will find a way to deal with them, powers and intentions be damned. When they tell her it was a necessary sacrifice to awaken her powers, she replies that if they try something like that again "she'll be making two".
  • Faking the Dead: She supposedly died in Amethyst Cave, but it turns out she was rescued by Spacea and Tiempa, and that her death was faked by Crescent.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: She spent three years in the past, as part of Spacea and Tiempa's organization.
  • Heroic BSoD: Has one when Venam is turned to stone.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Her powers only seem to show up in dire situations or when they're needed, and she states that she can't turn them on just at will even after they're awakened.
  • Long Lost Sibling: To Erin, Allen, and Alice.
  • The Nicknamer: All of her Pokémon are nicknamed.
  • Non-Elemental: She was originally going to be the Normal Leader for the region, and her first team that you fight her with is all Normal types. But after her Faking the Dead incident, she was removed from the roster, and she doesn't use only Normal types after returning.
  • Plot Magnet: Shares this role with the player.
  • Rage Against the Mentor: She is pissed at Spacea and Tiempa after the events of the Bad Future arc, telling them that if they ever put her and the player through anything like it again, she'll kill them herself.
  • The Mole: As Emma.
  • Reality Warping Is Not a Toy: She has a knack (which Venam calls a hidden ability) for finding Shiny Pokémon. Her entire team is made of shiny Pokémon. It's cool as a power, but not much use in battle. Later, it's stated that the Archetype's power is effectively letting her subconciously affect the world around her by Madame X, and that her Pokémon all being Shiny is a side-effect of the Archetype's power manifesting itself in her subtly. However, said power also carries other side effects...
  • Secretly Dying: In Chapter 15, she discovers that she has Genesis Syndrome, a condition where someone is infused with the Archetype and it doesn't reject them, but the Archetype tries to power itself from their body and winds up killing them. All known cases were fatal. She doesn't tell anyone until after the end of all 3 Routes and the story of the episode is near its conclusion. And even draining the Archetype won't help - according to the Puppet Master, doing so after it awakens would also be fatal.
  • Signature Mon: Her Togekiss, Hapi.
  • Signature Move: She develops one over the course of the game, starting as Gilded Arrow; a single hitting move that matches the user's type. She later changes it into Gilded Helix, a move that hits twice with the same multi-type property as the original move.
  • Theme Naming: Her Pokémon are nicknamed after various virtues and positive emotions, like "Diligence" and "Hope". The exception to this is her main Pokémon Hapi the Togekiss, whose name is a corruption of the word "happy" which was the only thing Melia could say when she was little.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's a little hard to talk about her without giving away that she didn't actually die in Amethyst Cave.
  • Was It All a Lie?: Goes through something like this at first when she finds out that Professor Jenner was supposed to hand her over to Team Xen. She realizes at the end that no, it wasn't. She doesn't get to take it back until just before he dies.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: She is convinced that she can defeat Team Xen by herself at first, and fix all of the problems herself. While this might be possible in a mainstream Pokémon game, it's not the case here. She grows out of it.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Thanks to Genesis Syndrome.

    Ren

Ren

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/289e68e6_1b24_4759_a7c6_b0bd49c59f2d.png
Beginner’s luck quickly runs out.
Click here to see his second appearance.
A trainer from Goldenleaf Town and one of your rivals. He is Reina's twin and becomes Huey's adoptive brother in Chapter 15.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Versions of him before V7 were not pleasant in characterization, seeking to reform Goldenleaf Town more out of his own ego and joining Team Xen due to having his ego smashed by the player doing it themselves. Later versions of him tone down this, making him more focused on protecting his friends and family - he still joins Team Xen, but it's made clear that it's from being manipulated from Crescent into believing that he could revive Melia. This is best shown in his scene in Route 3 - whilst older versions have him lock up the entrance to Goldenleaf Town, knowing full well that the player character can change the residents there, but wanting to do it himself out of fear that the main player would take the spotlight from them, later versions see him still lock it, but only to protect people, willingly unlocking it for the player after they beat him in battle.
  • The Bus Came Back: After a long period of not appearing much, he returns in full force in Chapter 13.
  • Character Development: He grows up a lot when the player's not around.
  • Chosen One: He's possibly one of the four shadows in the dark prophecy - specifically, the shadow of betrayal. Called into question later in the game, however, when he reveals he joined Team Xen as a mole for Crescent after being manipulated by her, and while he's unable or unwilling to leave he's quite firmly acting on the side of good and bears no apparent ill will toward his friends.
  • Dark Is Evil: His signature Pokémon is Greninja and he has a lot of Dark-types, or just shady-looking Pokémon in general. He also joins Team Xen after the protagonist fulfills Ren's life dream of fixing Goldenleaf Town, which he wanted to do himself. Later subverted, though.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite using a lot of Dark-type Pokémon, he's actually a pretty nice guy, albeit one with a bit of an ego. Subverted when he joins Team Xen, though. Later double subverted, see Face-Heel Turn for more details.
  • Deal with the Devil: While the super-powerful and morally ambiguous Crescent is not the devil, Ren agreed to join Team Xen as a mole in return for Melia’s revival. Once he discovers Crescent’s deceit, it is far too late to return to his former life.
  • Disappeared Dad: His father is nowhere to be seen, and the only mention of him is in optional dialogue with Anastasia during their infiltration of Rejuvenation Co., in which Ren reveals that his father had a Growlithe which he really loved, but then abruptly stops talking about the subject. Chapter 15 reveals that his father was terminally ill, and died sometime before the story began.
  • Evil Former Friend: He used to be friends with Venam and Melia, then he joined Team Xen. Though it turns out he only joined Team Xen in an effort to revive Melia, he never intentionally betrayed them.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Joins Team Xen after Melia "dies".
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: He's the responsible sibling to Reina's foolish.
  • Heroic BSoD: Downplayed. After the player succeeds in changing Goldenleaf Town’s xenophobic ways, he becomes depressed and aimless with his life’s goal already achieved by someone else. Then Crescent takes advantage of this and tricks Ren into joining Team Xen and supposedly revive Melia by doing so. It's revealed that his father wanted to do the same thing before he died, so Ren wanted to achieve his father's dream- and when he couldn't, he took it badly.
  • Put on a Bus: After the Xen Backup Lab he didn't show up for a while.
  • Remote Body: After joining Team Xen he's gifted a mechanical body that has wings and an arm cannon by Nastasia.
  • The Runaway: Ran away from Goldenleaf Town because he hated its inhabitants' xenophobia. His goal was to one day return and change their ways, but that did not end well for him.
  • Sense Loss Sadness: Laments that his senses of taste and touch are dulled while in his Remote Body.
  • Signature Mon: His Greninja.
  • Token Good Teammate: Serves as this to Team Xen after joining. While he still follows Nastasia’s orders, knowing that he can’t leave, he continues being friendly and helps the player, Reina and Huey where he can.
  • Trapped in Villainy: Like the rest of Team Xen, he can't exactly leave the group thanks to Madame X. Even though he now knows that Melia is alive.

    Venam

East Gearen's Poison-type Gym Leader, a punk kid.

  • Abusive Parents: Her mother has a habit of literally kicking her out of the house (right through the roof no less) for playing music too loud.
  • And I Must Scream: She reveals after her return in Chapter 14 that while she was turned to stone, she wasn't unconscious.
  • Arch-Enemy: She hates Saki, to the point that just mentioning her name gets Venam so angry she's practically on fire. It's later hinted that this is because Erick stopped being her friend and became Saki's instead.
  • Berserk Button: Don't call her Veronica.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Saves you from Gardevoir and Indriad with her stolen Charizard should you try to rescue the corrupt police officer.
    • In Chapter 14, she and Ren show up to help take down Isha.
  • Can't Catch Up: A major source of despair for her later in the story, and while still amply skilled and talented, she's undeniably the least powerful of the core group overall, without the martial skills, mechanical enhancements, or supernatural abilities many of her friends possess. She takes to fighting with her Seviper coiled around her mid section to use him like a makeshift weapon to compensate.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: She's in love with Melia, but doesn't admit it until she and Lavender are cornered by Lorna, and Lavender isn't able to tell Melia until she meets her in the hospital.
  • Character Development: Gets a lot of it starting in Chapter 15 after being forced to confront her inferiority issues and her trauma from being petrified. She matures enough to try and return Tesla's Charizard and while she remains a small source of humor even late into the story, she's markedly more mature than she was at the beginning of it.
  • Delinquent: While an overall decent person, she causes noise disturbances, treats the sewers as her turf, pretends to be an engineer to hitch a ferry ride with a team of actual mechanics (plus wants to keep the paycheck), and her plan to teach Mr Blakeory a lesson for wanting to demolish Vitus' mansion is to TP his house. She grows out of this, largely thanks to Melia's positive influence.
  • Disappeared Dad: Semi-example. Her father didn't vanish, he was banned from Gearen City, so they haven't seen each other in some time.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": About the only person who refers to her as Veronica is her mother.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When Angie claims to be a Gym Leader, Venam says that the Aevium League might not have very high requirements for a leader's mental stability, but even they would not let her join.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Tried to buy Lavender time to escape by confronting Nim. Unfortunately, her sacrifice didn't actually achieve anything, Nim decided not to turn Lavender to stone on her own initiative.
  • Last Request: Exploited; a few times she fakes death and asks random people to bring her a Berry from Berry Emporium. Ren doesn't fall for it, though, because he knows about it. Her last request to Lavender before she tries to distract the brainwashed Nim is to tell Melia she loves her.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: She hates being called Veronica.
  • Poisonous Person: Since she specialises in Poison-types.
  • Senseless Sacrifice: Venam sacrifices herself by giving herself up to Lorna to buy Lavender time to escape, but Lorna confronts Lavender anyway after the latter has an asthma attack- the only reason Lavender didn't get turned to stone was because Lorna wanted her to carry a message.
  • Signature Mon: Her Seviper, as well as Charizard after she steals it from Tesla.
  • Signature Move: Venam's Kiss, a hard hitting Poison move that hits Steel types super effectively.
  • Taken for Granite: After Lavender sneaks out at night to investigate the stone phenomenon in Grand Dream City, Venam follows her. It seems she saved Lavender from the same fate, but unfortunately Venam gets turned to stone instead.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: She's a lot more terse, serious and distant after she's freed of her petrification, though after a sit down with Melia she moves past the worst of her trauma and calms down some.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Saki and Amber, until the fire. Word of God says all three of them blame each other for starting it. In actual fact, none of them started it.
    • After the events at Chrysalis Manor, Luca and Lenny call it quits on their friendship with her for a while.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Once they all make up, with Amber and Saki. when she and Saki are forced to team up prior, their teams' movesets are specifically designed to cause constant collateral damage to one another.

    Nim

Click here to see her as Lorna.
A Psychic specialist who shows up every once in a while. A bit strange, but kind-natured... at least at first.
  • Ambiguously Human: According to Damien, she's actually demonic in nature. He also refers to her as 'it', and says that she couldn't be killed by falling into lava, her body would have reformed. While her "demonic" side has yet to be shown, she did survive falling into lava and reformed elsewhere. It's later revealed that she's either the harbinger or the embodiment of Storm-9.
  • Apocalypse Maiden: According to Damien, letting her live is eventually going to bring forth the end of the world. Not only is she the one turning people in Grand Dream City to stone (after being brainwashed), she's eventually revealed to be the embodiment of Storm-9, making her a literal Apocalypse Maiden.
  • Blow You Away: Being Storm-9, she has wind powers.
  • Bolivian Army Ending: Her last scene in Chapter 15 has her surrounded by angry souls after saving the player and co.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: By Clear after the events at Valor Mountain; taking the name of Lorna.
  • The Bus Came Back: When she reappears in Chapter 14 at Zone Zero to battle you, it's the first time you've seen in person her since Terajuma (though she also interacted with Lavender and Venam in Grand Dream City).
  • Cleavage Window: Has this in her second outfit as Lorna.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: She can act rather strangely at times, like pretending to be a tree and claiming to photosynthesize.
  • Damsel in Distress: Has to be saved after she's rendered Taken for Granite because of overexerting herself.
  • Evil Costume Switch: After being renamed Lorna.
  • Genki Girl: To go along with her Cloud Cuckoolander tendencies, Nim also generally has an excess of energy.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Pulls one in Chapter 15.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: In Chapter 15 it's revealed that she needs to consume life force to avoid turning to stone, and that she can't turn this ability off.
  • Important Haircut: By Clear, as part of her brainwashing.
  • Misplaced Retribution: She did turn Venam into stone, but she wasn't the one who was turning everyone in Grand Dream City into stone- that was Xara and Jean.
  • Mythology Gag: In keeping with the theme of the world being something akin to a computer program, assuming she is an incarnation of Storm-9, the Storm itself resembles a styilized Missingno., and comes with an effect not unlike Acid Rain, a glitch from Gen 4 involving multiple weathers, during the battle Damien and Alexandra have with it.
  • Psychic Powers: Among these is an ability to teleport people to some weird psychic dimension. Also her preferred type.
  • Sensory Overload: If she uses her powers too much, she turns into stone. This may be connected to how she can render other people Taken for Granite.
  • Signature Mons: Her Solrock and Lunatone. Later, her fusion of the two.
  • That Woman Is Dead: Acts like this after being renamed by Clear, saying that only now does she understand her true purpose.

    Aelita

Aelita Royer

One of your rivals who you meet in Sheridan Village. She is Keta's daughter. Except she isn't. Not exactly.
  • Determinator: She's a hell of a fighter, and even Team Xen torturing her didn't break her spirit.
  • For Want Of A Nail: In Nightmare City, the Puppet Master says that if Aelita hadn't fallen into that coma, the events of Valor Mountain would have turned out drastically different, and Zetta, Prof. Jenner and Nim could probably have been saved.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Vivian's Madness makes her lash out at the slightest provocation, her bouts of anger accompanied by a red aura.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: To The Puppet Master, after he says that you have no idea what you're getting into, she yells at him that this is because no one has told either of you what is going on. He doesn't disagree.
  • Locked into Strangeness: When she returns in Nightmare City, her hair has suddenly turned pink, as a result of the Garufa curse/the "chains" on her heart being unlocked.
  • Nice Girl: Unless she's under the effects of Vivian's Madness (or you're Texen) Aelita is generally friendly, cheerful and fun to be around.
  • Out of Focus: She doesn't appear in Chapter 13, but returns in Chapter 14.
  • Reincarnation: She's the second reincarnation of Vivian, but also the last after the player, Cella, Melia and Erin free her.
  • Reluctant Psycho: She knows after she reappears that she has changed for the worse, and she doesn't like it one bit.
  • The Reveal: She's revealed to be Keta's daughter. Then it's revealed that while Keta raised her, she's not his daughter, she's the reincarnation of his wife.
  • Seen It All: Right after you go into Carotos Mountain, she has seen Keta desert her without warning, "Shadow Pokémon" that she never knew existed before, Team Xen inside, and the interior of the mountain, which was supposed to be filled with water, filled with lava. And when she finds a base inside it? Keep in mind that this is all before you leave Sheridan Village and get the second badge.
"After what I've seen? I don't think this shocks me as much as it would have."
  • Signature Mon: Her Hawlucha, which was given to her as an egg by Keta. Enough that when she goes to find the three springs of Aevium, it's the only Pokémon she takes with her.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: She's tortured by Neved because Keta is dead, so she's forced to stand in his stead.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: When she's cured of the Garufan curse, the healer treating her discovers that she has 'chains' around her heart. When the chains are removed, Aelita suddenly displays never-before-seen psychic powers and briefly turns evil. She then proceeded to attack people and act rude and capricious until some of the chains were restored.
    • It's later revealed that this is Aelita's version of the curse Vivian's Madness, and stated in Where Love Lies to be similar to a Shadow Pokémon's Hyper Mode.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: Finds out that her identity was a lie and that she isn't Keta's daughter.
  • Took a Level in Badass: While she was plenty strong and helpful to begin with, Aelita's somewhat sheltered upbringing and ignorance of her true nature made her naive and prone to recklessness, which held her back and caused her to make some costly mistakes. After her curse is lifted thanks to the player character, she spends a chapter journeying around Aevium by herself to actualize her abilities, even catching a whole new team and reclaiming the title of Sheridan Village's sensei. When she reappears in Chapter 14, she's matured immensely and has the spiritual strength to back up her peppy attitude. Her battling prowess and leadership capabilities even get her appointed co-leader of the heroes' task force in Chapter 15, alongside the player themself.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: While suffering from Vivian's Madness, she becomes rude and hot-tempered.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Throughout the story, she learns that her father died just as he finally started to act like his old self, was subjected to torture in his place, wasn't chosen as her father's successor for his Gym (and gets to see his house taken over by the Jerkass new Leader), and gets put in an coma by a Garufan curse before becoming a Reluctant Psycho due to the curse's aftereffects.
  • Walking the Earth: After being freed from the curse, she leaves her team except for her Hawlucha at the Rose Theater, and goes to find the three springs of Aevium to awaken Vivian's powers.

    Valarie

Valarie Kersey

Click here to see Captain Valarie.
Akuwa Town's Water-type Gym Leader. Not that you fight her there.
  • Dirty Coward: Not normally, but in her Bad Future incarnation, she tries to flee the ship after being defeated by the player, leaving behind her crew.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Pulls one in the Bad Future, acting as a pirate that brings people to Melanie's castle. She pulls a Heel–Face Turn after Melanie is defeated, in the "Do Nothing" ending, though.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: The choleric of her, Adam, Braixen and Saki.
  • The Leader: Of Akuwa Town, having done her best to fight off Team Xen when they attacked, and also managed to save Braixen from getting caught and found her a place to hide out.
  • Loss of Identity: She's found in Grand Dream City with a new appearance and occupation, and doesn't remember her old self at all. How this happened is unclear, though it's reminiscent of what happened to Nim (and later, Adam). It's later revealed that there's a bunker under the Hospital of Hope that can remove people's memories, so that's likely the cause. In Chapter 14, she's been having dreams of her past. Finally, in Chapter 15, it's explained: she was kidnapped and hooked up to the Ligosomnia Engine by the Mysterious Figures, had her memories tampered with and transferred to an artificial body. She's regained her memories and identity by the end of the chapter, like her friends.
  • Making a Splash: The Water-type leader.
  • A Mother to Her Men: Subverted in the Bad Future - while she calls her crew her "babies", she doesn't really care for them that much. Or at least, she doesn't care enough to stick around and fight a losing battle against you, the Resistance, Melia, and Madame X.
  • Put on a Bus: Alongside Adam, Saki, and to a lesser extent Delpha as a result of the process of her consciousness being transferred to her original body taking 9 months - well past what is likely the end point of the main story.
  • Signature Mon: Her Primarina.
  • Signature Move: Aquabatics, a spin on Dragon Dance that boosts Special Attack and Speed instead.

    Adam

Adam “Might” Leon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kxfhq61.png
:Click here to see his second appearance.
Aevium's Rock-type Gym Leader.
  • Achilles' Heel: During his Gym Battle, if you change his terrain from Inverted to another one, he has no way to change it back due to not having an Inkay or Malamar whose Topsy-Turvy changes the Terrain to Inverted.
  • Badass Family: His brother Ryland is the Ground type gym leader.
  • Dumb Muscle: His default solution to problems is to just charge straight at them. It didn't work too well when he tried it with the vines in Terajuma Jungle.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: He's the melancholic.
  • If You Kill Him, You Will Be Just Like Him!: Argued this point with Ryland before the game's events began. Ryland wanted revenge on Team Xen for murdering most of Alamissa Urben; Adam argued that killing someone would make him just as much a murderer as the person he killed.
  • Journey to Find Oneself: Went on one before the game's events began.
  • Loss of Identity: Like Valarie, he turns up in Grand Dream City with a different appearance and occupation, and doesn't recognise the player or Aelita. By the end of Chapter 14, he regains his memories.
  • Olympus Mons: Has a shiny Terrakion on Intense Mode.
  • Punny Name: His stage name is a pun on Adamite, a type of rock.
  • Put on a Bus: Alongside Saki, Valarie, and to a lesser degree Delpha, as a result of the process of his consciousness being transferred to his original body taking 9 months - well past what is likely the end point of the main story.
  • Royal Blood: He is a descendant of King Ieisel. A fact he remembers just in time to reactivate the Spring of Rejuvenation and save Erin's life.
  • Ship Tease: Crushes on Sam, one of the two rangers who answer directly to Crawli, throughout the Terajuma arc.
  • Signature Mon: His Mega Aerodactyl.
  • Signature Move: Matrix Shot, a physical move that deals special damage.
  • Straight Gay: A down to earth, very straight forward sort of guy that happens to be gay. His Adam Might persona is a lot more flamboyant, but not in a way that emphasizes his sexuality.
  • Terse Talker: Mostly because he gets mocked a lot by Saki.
  • Theme Naming: His name is Adam, and his brother used to be called Eve.
  • This Cannot Be!: He has this reaction at first when you defeat him, but he gets over it pretty quickly.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Damien, until they argued over getting revenge on Team Xen. Adam had feelings for him, but they weren't reciprocated. They become friends again in Chapter 14.

    Saki

Saki Blakeory

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saki_87.png
Aevium's Steel-type Gym Leader.
  • Action Girl: Has enough strength to rip out an antenna from the ground and send it flying a fair distance.
  • The Bus Came Back: She finally returns in Chapter 15.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: She's crazy like a fox.
  • Dare to Be Badass: Nymiera turns up just as Hazuki's about to kill Saki, asks if Saki is willing to be the world's protector, and then gives her a power to help her (while also taking away Hazuki's ability to command Registeel).
  • Early-Bird Cameo: If you visit the Chrysolia Hotel before meeting her properly, she will crash into you with a trolley and then leave in a hurry. If you do this, she will acknowledge this interaction later in the game.
  • Expanded Universe: She has a Twitter account.
  • Fearless Fool: She's not afraid of the guards at Blacksteeple Castle at all, and will happily call them names and mock them to be an ample distraction.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: She's the sanguine.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Claims to have created some Poké Balls on her own, and has created a miniature laser with an antenna in a very short amount of time. She also created the device that lets Braixen talk.
  • Genius Ditz: She's a Cloud Cuckoo Lander, and a Gadgeteer Genius.
  • Heroic Lineage: Is Hazuki’s granddaughter.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Unlike Adam and Valarie, who were given entirely different new personalities, Saki retains hers, but has forgotten ever meeting the player and the events of the game. This starts to break pretty quickly in Chapter 15, when she learns that Flora blew up the Grand Dream Ball, tried to take over Grand Dream City, and that she didn't know about it.
  • Leitmotif: Music - Saki's Hijinx (formely known as "Amethyst Factory").
  • Morality Pet: To her grandfather- her grandmother says that she's the only person he genuinely cares about.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She spends a fair amount of Chapter 15 realising just how horrible her family is and how she's profited from it.
  • Put on a Bus: Alongside Adam, Valarie, and to a lesser degree Delpha as result of the process of her consciousness being transferred to her original body taking 9 months - well past what is likely the end point of the main story.
  • Signature Mon: Her Mega Metagross.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Gets hit with this trope hard in Chapter 15.
  • Uncertain Doom: Chapter 14 reveals that Saki, Adam, Valarie, Braixen, Aelita and Cella were attacked by the two mysterious figures, but all of them except Saki turned up a lot earlier than she did. Saki finally shows back up in Chapter 15.
  • White Sheep: The Blakeory family are repeatedly described as being greedy and involved in shady business, and the other members of the family that the player has actually met are assholes. Saki, however, isn't one (an asshole), though she's never talked about her family. Her status as the White Sheep is exemplified in Chapter 15, when she is the only one to be horrified by her grandmother's plan to have her grandfather killed as revenge for all his crimes, although Thomas also objects when he learns Hazuki plans to make Saki kill him herself.

    Braixen

Braixen/Delpha

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pkmn_braixen_4.png
Saki's friend and ally.
  • Brought Down to Normal: She loses her translation device the Valor Mountain events. Upon evolving, she no longer needs it.
  • Childhood Friends: With Saki. Once they established that Saki preferred Steel-types and Braixen didn't want to evolve, they decided to be friends, not trainer and Pokémon.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Very much so.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: She's the phlegmatic.
  • Magikarp Power: She's this by design - she was created as a genetic experiment in which her Fennekin and Braixen states are weaker than the species typically are, but with an explosively powerful Delphox form powered by Black Prism.
  • Meaningful Rename: She was experimented upon by the Blakeory Corporation in a way that made her weaker than usual as a Fennekin and Braixen, but much stronger as a Delphox. Upon evolving, she says she's like a Delphox, but not the same as one, and as such names herself Delpha- close to Delphox, but not the same.
  • "No More Holding Back" Speech: Has one on the Eclysia Skyview, just before she evolves and proceeds to kick ass.
  • Non-Action Guy: She's not a fighter. Before she evolves, at least.
  • Power Limiter: Saki gives her an Everstone based drink to inhibit her ability to evolve at her unspoken request, which Braixen eventually undoes with the antitode Saki also taught her how to make.
  • Put on a Bus: She's the one who has to mind Adam, Saki, and Valarie's bodies during their 9 month mind transfer process, to ensure nothing goes wrong. While it's possible she can still interact with the story during this time unlike the other 3, her appearances are nonetheless limited as a result.
  • Secret Character: If you've finished Chapter 15 on a save file and answer all of Dream Zetta's questions properly on subsequent playthroughs, you'll unlock a new boss battle in the main story and will eventually be able to capture a dream version of Delpha independent of the real thing, a Delphox with her unique appearance and the Prism Power ability, granting her a boost to all her stats once a battle.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In Chapter 14, she finally evolves to a Delphox, names herself Delpha, and is now roughly level 85.
  • Uncertain Doom: Is missing after the Valor Mountain events. It is revealed in Chapter 13 that she was held captive and experimented on in the secret basement of the Hospital of Hope, having lost her translation device beforehand.

    Kanon

Kanon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kanon_1.png
Melia's friend.
  • Character Development: In Chapter 15, he rises above his origins as a Servant with some help from Erin.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Basically why he lost his Salamence.
  • Fake Memories: He created a new personality for himself in the past to conceal Nymiera's location.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: He's currently in the present after meeting back up with Melia.
  • Good Is Dumb: He's a really nice, friendly, and heroic person. He's also kind of an idiot, as evidenced by how he attempts to take on an entire cult (led by a very powerful Pokémon, no less) with just a Salamence. Subverted later on, however.
  • Happiness in Slavery: He repeatedly says that he only exists to serve, no matter how many times Nymiera and Alexandra tell him otherwise. Later explained to be a defense mechanism in response to Vitus repeatedly abusing him without Nymiera's knowledge.
  • Loves the Sound of Screaming: Played for Laughs, when he gives Huey a Jump Scare in Hiyoshi City.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Chucks a tantrum and flounces off to find April/Alexandra after being told he can't go back to the past.
  • Servant Race: He's not human at all. He's the product of Garufan magic, a sapient spell created to serve. However, Nymiera and Alexandra have both repeatedly told him he doesn't have to be - it's not until Chapter 15 that it finally sinks in.
  • Teleportation with Drawbacks: Unless hindered, he can teleport to wherever his master is, or to anything or anyone with a strong connection to them.

    Erin

Erin/Eriena

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tvtropes_98.png
One of Aelita's friends, she helps the protagonist, Flora and Florin escape from a trap in Darchlight Woods.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: She was bullied as a child for being smarter than the other students and for being an orphan, and practically lived at the Grand Dream City library.
  • Badass Boast: "No... I do have a purpose. And for that purpose, I promise you, I won't die. I refuse to die... I cannot... I REFUSE TO DIE HERE!" as the Grand Dream Ball blows up around her.
    • In Chapter 15, she declares that if Vitus has styled himself as God, then she will be the Devil who fights against him.
  • Barrier Warrior: Her power, as of Chapter 15.
  • Bullied into Depression: Went through this as a child. She even admits she was suicidal until she met her newfound friends and found a purpose.
  • Casting a Shadow: She owns an Absol, and it seems to be her Signature Mon.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Of the overly blunt and snarky variety.
  • Dye Hard: Word of God says she likes dyeing her hair a lot. When she's first met in the Magnolia Library, she has blue hair, and later on has white hair (her natural colour is blonde).
  • Hidden Depths: When asked if she would sacrifice one she loves so that millions could live, she says that while it'd suck, she'd sacrifice the one she loves because it'd be better to not have the blood of millions on her hands... but on the other hand, the blood of one can stain one's hands just as badly as millions.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Was ostracised as a child for her intelligence and bookish nature.
  • Long-Lost Relative: She's the older sister of Alice, Allen and Melia.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives one to Aelita for running off and sticking Erin with the need to search for her for several weeks and being left homeless, and then another while inside Aelita's Dimensional Rift. The latter doubles as a Shut Up, Hannibal!.
  • Signature Mon: Her Absol, who she later gains the ability to Mega Evolve.

    Reina

Reina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reina_copy.png
Ren's twin sister and becomes Huey's adoptive sister in Chapter 15.
  • Abusive Parents: She says her mother hates her (this doesn't seem to be the case, though).
  • A Day in the Limelight: Gets a lot of screen time as Chapter 14 onward, where she and the player, Huey, and Ren go to the desert and back in time, then when you're going into Zone Zero.
  • Big Brother Worship: Has been looking for her brother ever since he ran away, but so far has had no luck finding him.
    • As it turns out, it's not so much worship as concern - she states that fortune-teller said to her mother, before she was born, that her children (her and Ren) would have a fate - one would fight for a bright future, and the other would fight against it.
  • Cool Big Sis: Becomes Huey's substitute sister in Chapter 14. Rune officially passes the torch to her in Chapter 15.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She's a snark master.
  • Evil Twin: She's afraid that Ren might be hers.
  • Genki Girl: Not quite to the extent of Huey, but she certainly has enough energy to keep up with him, and that is a feat in and of itself.
  • Signature Mon: Her Swoobat.

    Huey

Huey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/huey_63.png
Rhodea's friend and roommate.
  • Bad Liar: Lets out an "Um... no..." when Alexandra asks "...there's someone right behind me, isn't there." when the player, Ren, Huey and Reina warp in to her room due to the Timesplicer crystal in her room and find her cheerfully dancing in dancing clothes. Ren calls him out on it with "Huey..."
  • Berserk Button: Insulting Lavender.
  • Big Eater: According to Ren.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He and Lavender are a mutual case.
  • The Ditz: He's kind, but he can be a bit dumb sometimes.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Can be briefly seen in Teila Resort alongside Rune when you first reach it.
  • I Will Find You: Is doing everything humanly possible to find his missing sister Rune. But at the end of Chapter 14, he admits that he's starting to give up on finding her, as it has been almost three months without any leads. He's finally reunited with her at the end of Chapter 15... but not for long, sadly.
  • Signature Mon: His Flareon. And to a lesser degree, he has an Octillery and Glalie who both have the Moody ability.
  • Stepford Smiler: His Rift reveals that he's not half as optimistic as he seems.
  • Tagalong Kid: He and Reina spend half of Chapter 13 tagging along even after being told not to.
  • Unresolved Sexual Tension: With Lavender.
  • Unwitting Muggle Friend: Despite being Rhodea's friend and roommate, he doesn't know about Spacea and Tiempa. He later finds out about the whole time-travel thing alongside Ren and Reina, though.
    The Anomaly (Unmarked Spoilers!

M2

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/m2_0.png
A version of Melia from a Bad Future where the world was destroyed (confirmed to be from an older Rejuvenation version). Somehow, she ends up returning back in time, taking over the original Melia's body and becoming your main lackey during the Renegade Route.
  • Ax-Crazy: Her main objective is to kill every single person that wronged her, and she even keeps a list with all of their names.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Yes, she's clearly not very well in the head, and she wants nothing more than to kill anyone that hurt her in the past. However, she still decides to spare Ren once she realizes that he's nothing like the Ren from her own timeline, and is also horrified at some of your more... heinous actions during the Renegade Route.
    • Her hit list consists of the player character and everyone who hurt Melia. In addition, after the player erases Karrina, M2 admits that she would have called the whole thing off if Karrina had just given her a genuine apology.
  • Evil Costume Switch: She switches up her wardrobe to a darker, punk aesthetic, to everyone's surprise.
  • Evil Counterpart: Obviously, to Melia. While the real Melia is a kind, friendly and brave girl willing to do everything to protect her friends, M2 is a Jerkass Bitch in Sheep's Clothing that only cares about getting revenge on everyone that wronged her.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Despite her version of the protagonist is the "legacy" version, she immediatly recognize you...even if you took Alain (who look like this in their legacy sprite).
  • Hated by All: Excepting a single pleasant interaction with Crawli and a friend she makes at a club, just about everyone who comes into contact with M2 comes to despise her. It's so bad, the player character of all people launches into a rant about how terrible she is and how they're going to erase her in the end, too.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: A Justified example since she's a Mélia from an older Rejuvenation Version, where the characters where mostly different personalitywise.
  • Hive Mind: Similarly to the protagonist, she has several other selves from alternate timelines that she can seemingly call at will (Oddly enough, one of them being a Feebas with Melia's hair.)
  • I Fight for the Strongest Side!: Her initial aim is to work with the player to Set Right What Once Went Wrong... until she realises that the Renegade player isn't trying to prevent the end of the world, they're working to make it happen. She immediately switches side after that.
  • Leitmotif: Whenever she's hunting someone on her hit list, Mewmore's Giratina Battle Remix is played, a somewhat off kilter, deceptively playful tune that perfectly captures the twisted way she goes about stalking her targets.
  • Meaningful Name: M2. As in, the Second person to inhabit Melia's body.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Has this reaction after your clash with her on top of the GDC Central Building on the story branch where Florin is alive, which creates an explosion that ends up killing hundreds of innocent people, including a friend she had made just a couple of hours earlier. Then has it again after you needlessly kill Amber at the end of Karma Files.
  • Sanity Slippage: Spending six years wandering the endless wasteland left by the end of the world was... Not good for her mental health.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Her mastery of the Archetype far exceeds Melia's - she can create pocket dimensions at will and call forth other Melias to do her bidding, each with their own powers, personalities, and implicit teams of Pokémon.
  • The Last Dance: She knows she's going to die, either by the end of the world you're about to bring forth, or by the Genesis Syndrome that her version in the current timeline had before she switched bodies with her. Therefore, she decides that the best course of action is to go out with a bang and get her revenge on everyone that wronged her before everything ends.
  • Troll: She toys with her victims and the player alike using her Archetype powers, forcing the former into a rigged game show and offing Spacea and Tiempa in an over the top parody of Scarlet and Violet's Tera Raids.

Spoiler Characters (ALL SPOILERS UNMARKED)

    In General
A class who attended Phoenix Academy in Spotlight City before Storm-9 hit, which included the seven potential player characters, Aevis, Aevia, Axel, Ariana, Alain, Aero, Ana... And Crescent.
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: The one who you choose to bond with the Interceptor's spirit makes this to Crescent before they shove her off a cliff in the hopes of saving her from the Nihilego.
  • Battle At The Center Of The Mind: You have to battle your host as part of the last Nightmare Realm, but the outcome is irrelevant. In fact, defeating them makes them think they won.
  • The Bus Came Back: In one of the bad futures, the Interceptor's host suddenly regains control of their body.
  • Decoy Protagonist: At first the game presented them as the player characters … until it’s revealed that the character you choose at the beginning of the game isn’t who you are playing as.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Several of them make them during Storm-9. Whoever you chose to play as in particular saves Crescent's life once the rest of the class is petrified.
  • Sad Battle Music: Ana's Lament, a somber tune by GlitchxCity, accompanies your battle with your host.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: In a sense. They've all clearly got PTSD from living/dying from Storm-9, but they're all civilians, who weren't ever really trained for such an event. The trauma from Storm-9 has affected them so badly that they willingly gave the Interceptor control of their body so they wouldn't have to face it happening again.
  • Unwanted Revival: The player character was pissed when Crescent resurrected them after they sacrificed themselves for her.

    Spoiler 1

Aevis

The original Aevis, who was killed/petrified during Storm-9 - and potentially the Player Character who was revived by Crescent.
  • The Leader: Seems to have been this to his class at Spotlight City.

    Spoiler 2

Aevia

The original Aevia, who was killed/petrified during Storm-9 - and potentially the Player Character who was revived by Crescent.

    Spoiler 3

Axel

The original Axel, Ariana's brother, who was killed/petrified during Storm-9 - and potentially the Player Character who was revived by Crescent.
  • The Gadfly: He tied his sister Ariana's shoelaces together while she was sleeping.

    Spoiler 4

Ariana

The original Ariana, Axel's sister, who was killed/petrified during Storm-9 - and potentially the Player Character who was revived by Crescent.

    Spoiler 5

Alain

The original Alain, who was killed/petrified during Storm-9 - and potentially the Player Character who was revived by Crescent.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Was this to Aero, apparently.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She very clearly does not like the Interceptor when they come to wake her and the others up, to the point of flat-out declaring she hates you. However, after calming down, she grudgingly agrees to fight with you.
  • The Nicknamer: The only protagonist whose Pokémon all have nicknames in their original teams.
  • Signature Mon: Tazer, her unique Partner Pikachu, with the same base stats as the starter fromLet's Go Pikachu. The only way to get it for yourself is to start a new game as Alain via the "terajuma" password.

    Spoiler 6

Aero

The original Aero, who was killed/petrified during Storm-9 - and potentially the Player Character who was revived by Crescent.

    Spoiler 7

Ana

The original Ana - who, unlike the other possible Player Characters, died before Storm-9 even hit. Except not - it's revealed late in the story in a sidequest that Ana the android and Ana the classmate are the same person, and that her classmates found her somewhere and took her in.
  • Back from the Dead: She died before Storm-9 hit, but as the rest of her tropes imply, she got better later.
  • Eyeless Face: Averted. Unlike the android or her standard playable incarnation, the real Ana was apparently just a normal girl, eyes and all.
  • The Runt at the End: She died before Storm-9 hit, and also seems to still be running around in the form of the android named Ana who meets you and Dylan in Grand Dream City.
  • Secret Character: You have to enter a passcode at the beginning of the game (9494) to even play as her.
  • Two Aliases, One Character: Played with. Until Version 13.5, it appeared that Ana the android was - seemingly - based on the Ana who was a classmate of the other hosts of the Interceptor, and while Ana the android's past was very unclear, there was no clear connection between them, much less that they were the same person.
