    Iris

Iris

Voiced by: Eri Sendai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/irisexe.jpg
This rather quiet girl lives around Cyber City in the sixth game. Almost nobody knows anything about her, other than that Colonel.EXE is unwilling to attack her. She assists Lan and MegaMan in various ways against WWW and the legendary beasts Falzar and Gregar. In the anime, she and Trill are residents of the alternate world Beyondard, in which she has been trying to end the war between the Falzars and the Gregars. She assists MegaMan in allowing him to Beast-Out without having him lose control of his powers and go berserk.

  • Adaptational Heroism: The Iris of X4 was more morally ambiguous than this version and has a despair-induced Face–Heel Turn towards the end. Iris.EXE may be affiliated with the villains but she is ultimately firmly on the side of good.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: The world of Battle Network includes the Alternate Selves of both Iris and Zero from Mega Man X, but here they've never met.
  • Alternate Self: Iris is the Battle Network counterpart of the Reploid of the same name from Mega Man X4.
  • Apocalypse Maiden: She was originally a war program designed to control machines. Wily intends to use her to control both of the Cybeasts, which only she is capable of.
  • Alternate Self: Of Iris from the world of Mega Man X.
  • Big Damn Heroes: She saves Lan from Copybot Colonel during the Sky Town incident in the games and splits MegaMan and Trill to end their beast transformation's rampage.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: She likes Lan and almost tells him, but decides against it.
  • Damsel in Distress:
    • Kidnapped by the WWW splinter group to get revenge on Baryl. She is rescued by Lan and Mr. Mach.
    • At the end of the game she surrenders to Wily, but it was actually part of a plan to destroy the Cybeasts.
  • Foreshadowing: Some hints towards her real nature were alluded to throughout the game:
    • She's introduced to the series being attacked by a robot dog—an artificial lifeform in the shape of an animal.
    • Before starting the first Link Navi mission, she can be found in Lan's classroom wondering if fish should be confined in the aquarium away from their natural habitat.
    • Right before the Sky Town incident, the school's Copybot went missing. Incidentally, Iris was ready to head to Sky Town at the time.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She fuses with Colonel at the end of the sixth game to save MegaMan from the clutches of the remaining Cybeast. Unfortunately this action costs their lives since Dr. Wily installed a self-destruct mechanism that activates should Colonel and Iris try to combine with each other.
  • Mysterious Waif: She pops up from time to time in the sixth game to offer Lan aid, but it's never really clear who she is or where she comes from.
  • Nice Girl: Although shy, Iris is an absolute sweetheart. When she does speak, she is nothing but polite and well-spoken. Even before she became courageous enough to stand up to her enemies, she always does her best to help people, including the times she helped Lan and MegaMan out when they needed it. She even immediately became friends with Lan's companions when she's introduced to them. This is because she was formed from Colonel's extracted compassion and kindness.
  • Red Herring: Iris is introduced being threatened by a small artificial canine and, wouldn't you know it, she has the power to control a much bigger artificial canine named Gregar.
  • Rei Ayanami Expy: Iris is a Mysterious Waif and an Ambiguously Human Emotionless Girl with a connection to the Eldritch Abominations that threaten to destroy society. She is later revealed to be an Artificial Human Apocalypse Maiden created as part of a Government Conspiracy to be the Artificial Family Member of a government official (i.e., Colonel's little sister).
  • Rescue Romance: Develops a crush on Lan after he saves her from a rogue robot dog.
  • Robotic Reveal: In the games, Iris.EXE is the compassionate part of Colonel.EXE that was removed and became a Navi of her own. She has the power to control military installations and networks around the world. Due to this, she has spent most of her life making use of Copybots, which allow Navis to appear in the real world, in order to hide from Wily.
  • Robosexual: Inverted. She develops a crush on Lan despite him being a human and she being a Navi.
  • The Stoic: She's often softspoken and doesn't show much emotion.
  • Walking Spoiler: To the extent that even her name is potentially a spoiler, and indicates that she's very important to the plot.
  • You Don't Look Like You: In the anime, Iris looks just like her game counterpart, but in cyberspace has a different appearance.

Central Town

    Mick

Mick (Kojiro Aragaki)

Voiced by: Fujiko Takimoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mick.JPG
Lan's best friend in Cyber City, though he'd never admit it. They became friends after Lan stopped BlastMan.EXE, who tricked Mick into giving him access into the school security system. A bit of a Jerkass, he softens up over time. He has a standard Navi with a custom orange and yellow paint scheme.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other:
    • With his Navi. They argue a lot, but the latter obviously cares for his operator.
    • While a notorious troublemaker at school, it's shown that Mick has a certain amount of respect for Mr. Mach, tearing up when the latter shows up for the sixth graders' graduation, and eventually following in his footsteps as a teacher.
  • Butt-Monkey: As Lan becomes slightly more level-headed in the sixth game, Mick is usually the one getting humiliated or stumbling upon unfortunate situations.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He wants to get revenge on Lan for making his prank backfire, but obviously disagreed with BlastMan's ideas to terrorize the whole school.
  • Jerkass: Initially. He acts dismissive and rude towards everyone, especially Lan.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: As shown with Plata, he can be a nice guy when he wants to.
  • Morality Pet: Plata the Penguin, who is one of the few things that gets him to feel something other than hate or disinterest.
  • Never My Fault: Anytime things go wrong due to their own fault, he often blames his Navi, and vice-versa.
  • No Name Given: His NetNavi. Knowing Mick, it's entirely possible he never actually bothered naming him.
  • Shadow Archetype: To Lan. Both are proud netbattlers who have Navis who mother them, but while Lan is an incredibly friendly kid who's extremely close with his Navi, Mick is rude to everyone and bickers with his Navi constantly. Lan is also a much better Operator than Mick, who is often put in the position of a Distressed Dude.
  • Spanner in the Works: Mick hiding the Security Bot in a classroom locker allows it to record what Lan's father Yuichiro is actually doing at the time he was accused of hacking the Judge Tree (he was actually fixing the classroom's blackboard) as well as revealing Prosecutor Ito as the one who deleted the security camera's data to remove Yuichiro's alibi.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: For Dex. They are both proud and arrogant, and are introduced as bullies to the protagonist. They later befriend Lan, but still retain their status as rivals. Mick's modified Normal Navi even recalls GutsMan's Early-Installment Weirdness from back when he was still considered an off-the-shelf Navi.
  • Tsundere: After the BlastMan scenario, probably because Chaud had partially grown out of it by the sixth game.
  • The Unfought: Despite his constant talk about how he'll beat Lan at Netbattling, his Navi can't be fought by the player.
  • Uniformity Exception: His Navi has the basic NormalNavi shape, but with a unique color palette and angry eyes.
  • Unwitting Pawn: He teams up with BlastMan.EXE to get revenge on Lan for defeating a virus he set on him as a prank, but BlastMan just uses him to try and kill the teaching staff and cause panic.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With his Navi and Lan.

    Tab

Tab (Asuta Omori)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tab.jpg
One of Lan's classmates in Cyber Academy. His family owns a chip shop named AsterLand, located at Central Town.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Completely unaware of Lan's entanglement with the recent Cybeast-related crises, even though Mick is.
  • Punny Name: His Japanese name Asuta is a hair's breadth away from "Aster", as in the asterisk battle-chip code.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: With his white shirt, spectacles, and fluffy brown hair, Tab bears a striking resemblance to Higsby even before considering that Tab is the clerk at a different battle-chip shop.

    Mr. Mach

Joe Mach (Go Mach)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/joe_mach.jpg

Lan's teacher at Cyber Academy. He is the operator of BlastMan.EXE and assists the others in capturing MegaMan as a favor to Baryl, but has a sense of guilt and helps Lan find MegaMan after all of the other members decide to break off from Baryl and the World Three.

  • Anti-Villain: He's a member of the new WWW, but only out of loyalty to Baryl and gratitude to Wily for saving his daughter.
  • Bash Brothers: With Baryl.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • His rescue of Lan and Baryl from the WWW dissidents.
    • He also distracts some Heel Navi Copybots allowing Lan and Chaud to enter Wily's base.
  • Badass Teacher: While BlastMan's combat prowess is nothing to write home about, Mr. Mach himself is this. See Big Damn Heroes above.
  • Cool Teacher: He is a friendly respectable teacher and popular with his students.
  • Foreshadowing: Joe Mach is known for giving stern lectures. After defeating BlastMan the first time, the evil Navi complains about his operator giving him a lecture.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: After being defeated by Baryl in a martial arts tournament the two became friends.
  • Genius Bruiser: Is a competent teacher and asskicker.
  • Not What I Signed on For: After losing to MegaMan at the Undernet 2 area, his comrades (or rather, soon-to-be-ex-comrades) reveal their intention to break away from WWW and join up with their benefactor. Joe Mach refuses, and states that he only agreed to help them so they'd deliver the Cybeast back to WWW, and makes it very clear that he did not intend to defect from WWW.
  • Old Friends: A piece in the Rockman.EXE no Himitsu art book features Joe and Baryl sparring back in their old army days.
  • One-Steve Limit: Only in the English version, but he takes a quick note on how Match's name is similar to his in Gregar.
  • Punny Name: Oddly enough, not a computer term. His Japanese name can be taken as part of Speed Racer's Japanese name: MachGoGoGo.
  • Shout-Out: To Speed Racer, the Japanese title of which is Mach Go Go Go!
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Subverted; After confessing of his involvement with W3, Lan was distracted by someone warning him to stay clear of the edge of the platform, and when he turns back, Mach is gone. It's then shown that Mach merely jumped down to a lower deck.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To both Ms. Mari and Ms. Yuri, combining the aspects of Lan's stern but caring schoolteacher and being an undercover WWW member who is indebted to Dr. Wily.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Gets knocked out by the school's out-of-control Security Bots, but the reveal that the instigator of that event was his own Navi, casts that into doubt.

    Mayor Cain
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mayor_cain.PNG

  • Big Bad Wannabe: The plot sets him up as a villain only for Wily and Chaud to have been a few steps ahead of him.
  • Corrupt Politician: He's mayor of Cyber City and pretends to care about the public but is only interested in using the Cybeasts to get revenge on society for making his grandfather an outcast.
  • Evil Teacher: He is also the principal of Cyber Academy.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He's only trying to avenge his grandfather, who became a social pariah when his creation Falzar became just as uncontrollable as Gregar.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Hires an undercover Chaud as his bodyguard and gets arrested by him.
  • Mythology Gag: The mayor's grandfather was Dr. Cain, an Alternate Self of the same man who, in Mega Man X, created Reploids without fully understanding them, leading to the Maverick outbreaks.
  • The Team Normal: Among the villains, and among Battle Network character designs in general—unlike the colorful cast of characters around him, Mayor Cain is distinguished by his conventional, if polished, appearance.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Is the mayor of Cyber City and appears to be a friendly old man, but secretly funds the WWW and has his own ulterior motives for the Cybeasts. Also calls MegaMan a monster out of false concern for his citizens when he's fully aware that it was the Cybeast's fault.

Cross System Instructors and Link Navis

     Master Feng-Tian and TenguMan.EXE

Feng-Tian (Fuuten Roshi) and TenguMan.EXE

Feng-Tian voiced by: Motomu Kiyokawa

TenguMan voiced by: Kenji Hamada

"You and I met here due to the winds of fate."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fengtian&tenguman.jpg
An elderly master who teaches lessons on how to use wind and a social studies teacher at the Cyber Academy. He always carries a red and white Tengu mask with him.
  • Alternate Self: TenguMan is the Battle Network counterpart of the classic Robot Master of the same name from Mega Man 8.
  • Blow You Away: TenguMan is a Wind Navi.
  • Gag Nose: Both of them have a long red nose. TenguMan can extend his nose even longer, up to three panels down the row in battles.
  • The Gimmick: A martial arts master and a tengu (a Youkai renowned for its martial arts mastery). TenguMan, Feng-Tian, and Feng-Tian's mask all have the long, red nose.
  • In a Single Bound: Feng-Tian is certainly capable of some fleetfooted acrobats for such a stooped senior.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: For an old man, his behavior in MegaMan NT Warrior gets Laika and Dingo in a lot of trouble. He eats at a restaurant and invites them to pig out as well but disappears when it’s time to pay the bill, leaving the boys to wash dishes for the food. He then does it a second time at a bathhouse. He weasels out of their complaining by rebutting their assumption that he doesn't have money, saying he does have money but he never said he would treat them. With that being said, he defeats Beyondard Narcy and VideoMan and saves the townspeople.
  • Miniature Senior Citizens: Feng-Tian probably doesn't even reach Lan's shoulders.
  • Power Floats: TenguMan and his Cross gains the ability to stand over holes and ignore harmful panels.
  • Old Master: On using the element of Wind.
  • Uncatty Resemblance: Feng-Tian has the long red nose of the tengu, just like TenguMan does.
  • Youkai: TenguMan is based on...a tengu.

    Pat Fahran and SlashMan.EXE

Pat Fahran (Paxy Faran) and SlashMan.EXE

Pat voiced by: Sayaka Ohara

SlashMan voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita

"When chefs want to make a new dish, they must try again and again until they get it right."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pat_fahran_and_navi.jpg
An expert cook from Yumland running Net Cooking Class in Green Town and a Home Ec teacher at the Cyber Academy. In the anime she works as a chef in a village in Beyondard.
  • Absurdly Sharp Claws: Fitting for a Sword Navi. It wouldn't be SlashMan without them.
  • Alternate Self: SlashMan is (apparently) the Battle Network counterpart of the classic Robot Master of the same name from Mega Man 7.
  • Blade Enthusiast: Pat has four knives on her person at all times—three in her hair, and a giant meat cleaver that she keeps in a sheathe on her back.
  • Color Motifs: Pat wears green with red trim and highlights and dark pants, like SlashMan does.
  • Edible Theme Naming: She is named after the culantro herb, known as phak chi farang in Thailand (in Battle Network, known as Yumland).
  • Flash Step: SlashMan moves from panel to panel so quickly he leaves an afterimage of himself on the panel he was originally on.
  • The Gimmick: Pat's a Chef of Iron and so is her net-navi. Pat wears a selection of culinary knives tucked into her headwrap and carries a meat cleaver bigger than her torso, while SlashMan not only has Wolverine Claw knives for fingers but also has knives on his shoulders, helmet, and the tip of his ponytail.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Slash Man is a sword element Navi. His Navi chip involves placing a kunai on each of Mega Man's panels before where he was summoned and then attacking the nearest enemy with a wide sword range attack.
  • Perpetual Smiler: According to concept art, Pat's most defining feature is her grinning mouth.
  • The Rival: Pat's concept art features an image of her and Tamako of Battle Network 3 sizing each other up for a fight.
  • "Simon Says" Mini-Game: Lan and SlashMan both have to gather cyber-ingredients, cutting them up under a time limit with random button presses. Finishing a sequence before the time limit nets bonus points toward the mission total.
  • Spin Attack: Rolling Slash makes SlashMan spin around the player's side of the field in battle.
  • Supreme Chef:
    • Mentions she's Cyber Academy's Home Ec. teacher and runs a cooking class in Green Town (for Gregar version), where her class consists of using Slash Man to find and demonstrate how to properly cut ingredients.
    • It’s much more prominent in the anime where she originally had a job cooking for people wounded in a war, later washing ashore in a seaside village and choosing to cook for the people living there. Once Lan comes along, she starts to teach him.
  • You Don't Look Like You: SlashMan is probably the Navi whose appearance deviates the most from the Robot Master he was based on. BeastMan from Battle Network 3 bears more of a resemblance to the original.

    Ann Zap and ElecMan.EXE

Ann Zap (Ann Electel)

Ann voiced by: Yuki Matsuoka

"Due to you stopping my husband, I was able to help him recover. Thank you, Lan..."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/annzap.jpg

See ElecMan's entry on the first game's WWW character sheet.

Count Zap's wife who is operating ElecMan in the sixth game. She gives out lessons how to use Elec Cross at Sky Town, but it was changed to restoring electricity to Sky Town once its power supply was drained by Dark Navis.

  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. In the games, Ann is responsibly trying to make ends meet, but in the anime, she drove the family into bankruptcy by spending all of her husband's money on luxury and travel.
  • Age Lift: Her anime appearance makes her much younger.
  • Cool Old Lady: She thanks Lan for sending her husband to prison, as he is able to reform over there.
  • Impoverished Patrician: In Battle Network 6, despite coming from the wealthy Zap family, Ann teaches operating classes to make money to get by now that the family has fallen on hard times.
  • Redeeming Replacement: She replaces her husband as ElecMan's operator.
  • Shock and Awe: ElecMan's operator in the sixth game.

    Mr. Press and DustMan.EXE

Mr. Press and DustMan.EXE

Mr. Press voiced by: Hiroyuki Yoshino

DustMan voiced by: Taketora

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mr_press_and_dustman.jpg
"The era of randomly throwing things away after one use is over!"
A nice guy who recycles and is something of an inventor. He gives lessons in Seaside Town which involves using DustMan to recycle.
  • Alternate Self: DustMan is the Battle Network counterpart of the classic Robot Master of the same name from Mega Man 4.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: DustMan's chip and the Dust Cross abilities are of the Break element.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Rescues MegaMan from being attacked by several HeelNavis during the search for a Moonstone in Falzar.
  • Blow You Away: Has an attack where he can suck Mega Man to his front column and attack, taking out barriers and auras, something only wind type attacks can do.
  • Fat and Skinny: The skinny to Moliarty's fat.
  • The Gimmick: A recycling activist and his living trash compactor.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: He has blonde hair to go with his nice guy attitude.
  • Mook Maker: One Dust Man's attacks is sending a junk scrap to crack the panel Mega Man's currently standing on. It also becomes Mega Man's Dust Cross charge shot.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: One minute he's arguing with Moliarty, the next minute, they're laughing while holding each other's shoulders.
  • Weapons That Suck: Dust Cross gives Mega Man the ability to suck in obstacles and shoot them back out with his buster for massive break element damage.

    Moliarty and GroundMan.EXE

Moliarty and GroundMan.EXE

Moliarty voiced by: Takashi Kondo

GroundMan voiced by: Koichi Sakaguchi

"We're gonna drill, drill, drill through any and everything!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moliarty_groundman.jpg
A professional hole digger who gives lessons at Cyber Academy which involves using GroundMan to break rocks in the Net.
  • Alternate Self: GroundMan is the Battle Network counterpart of the classic Robot Master of the same name from Mega Man & Bass.
  • Anime Hair: A drill-shaped pompadour.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: GroundMan's chip and the Ground Cross abilities are of the Break element.
  • Death from Above: Has an attack where he charges down the row towards Mega Man. If Mega Man dodges, Ground Man stays and drills the invisible wall causing rocks to fall from the sky. This is the attack for his Navi chip.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: GroundMan's Navi Chip and charge attack both function this way, doing significantly more damage across a wider area if they miss the opponent and hit the back row instead.
  • Fat and Skinny: The fat to Press' skinny.
  • Gentle Giant: He's a big fella, but friendly.
  • The Gimmick: A tunneler and his living earthmover.
  • Jive Turkey: GroundMan introduces himself by calling Lan a "foo'". Lan notes that he "talks funny" to himself.
  • Mighty Glacier: GroundMan is a bulky Navi that prefers strong slow attacks that can be easily telegraphed in contrast to DrillMan.
  • Tank-Tread Mecha: GroundMan is half-tank, with his lower body completely replaced by large treads.
  • This Is a Drill: GroundMan is a massive drill tank.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Press.

    Dark Scythe and EraseMan.EXE

Dark Scythe and EraseMan.EXE (Dark Kirisaki and KillerMan.EXE)

Dark Scythe voiced by: Yuki Kaida

EraseMan voiced by: Takeharu Onishi

"I hope I will never get a request to delete your Navi, but, should that day come, I cannot show you mercy."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/killerman.JPG
An assassin trained by ShadowMan's operator Dark Miyabi/Dusk. He gives out assassination lessons at Cyber Academy, under the pretense of studying battle techniques.
  • '90s Anti-Hero: Edgy? Check. Willing to do whatever it takes despite the costs? Check. No doubt they meet the requirements and are by far the most morally ambiguous out of all of the Battle Network cast.
  • Anti-Hero: Certainly not one of the good guys as long as their client orders them to eliminate them. All they are in is for money and that is all they care about is to continue their passion through countless deletion.
  • Big Red Devil: Downplayed, but the navi's bright red face and horns clearly evoke the archetype.
  • Blood Knight: They seem to love their job a little bit too much. EraseMan in particular shows a great enthusiasm for deleting anything on sight with his Hell's Sickle.
  • Bowdlerise: From KillerMan to EraseMan.
  • Creepy Child: He's in Lan's age group, but is a Cyber Assassin.
  • Crosshair Aware: EraseMan is a Cursor Navi.
  • Energy Weapon: Killer Death Beam, a continuous beam attack that pierces through invisibility.
  • Four Is Death: EraseCross has the ability to instantly delete viruses with the number "4" in their HP (if used on Navis this will induce HP bugs instead). To top it off, it is the fourth Cross obtained in Gregar.
  • The Gimmick: A professional assassin and the grim reaper.
  • Grim Reaper: EraseMan's role and Sinister Scythe evoke the classic image.
  • Humanoid Abomination: EraseMan's unarmored body appears to be composed of a material somewhere between smoke and fire.
  • Improbable Age: Dark Scythe is an assassin around the same age as Lan.
  • Nominal Hero: Their only goal is to delete and get paid, having no interest with the world's affairs or whoever side is in the right.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue-haired Dark is a Consummate Professional and The Stoic, while his red-faced Navi EraseMan is a Hot-Blooded Blood Knight.
  • A Sinister Clue: While subverted in that he's not your enemy, EraseMan is still a wicked-minded assassin Navi who holds his scythe left-handed.
  • Slasher Smile: EraseMan sports one, in contrast to his operator.
  • Sociopathic Hero: Shows no emotions when it comes to their victims and is still on the allies' side only to temporarily agree to their goals until the time comes can they end up enemies once again.
  • Soul Power: EraseMan can summon phantoms across all three rows.
  • Stealth-Based Mission: Scythe's class involves navigating EraseMan through the Undernet to take out a gang of Navis while remaining undetected. EraseMan has the ability to turn invisible in order to hide from his marks, who are on the lookout for him. If spotted, a virus battle ensues.
  • The Stoic: Dark Scythe doesn't show his emotions in front of others.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To Raika and SearchMan as stoic and ruthless professionals. KillerMan's Killer Death Beam is one to SearchMan's Scope Gun targeting enemies with their long-range combat.

    Al Ferry and ChargeMan.EXE

Al Ferry (Kunio Kurogane) and ChargeMan.EXE

Al Ferry voiced by: Takayuki Sugo

ChargeMan voiced by: Tsuguo Mogami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/al_chargeman.jpg
A train conductor giving lessons on the use of trains at Seaside Town. ChargeMan transports Navis and other goods across the Net.
  • Alternate Self: ChargeMan is the Battle Network counterpart of the classic Robot Master of the same name from Mega Man 5.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Rescues MegaMan from being attacked by several HeelNavis during the final round of the Expo Navi Selection test in Gregar.
  • Bullfight Boss: ChargeMan's boss fights mostly involve the Navi constantly charging at you.
  • Chest Insignia: A railway.
  • Cool Train: ChargeMan.
  • Dash Attack: Naturally, as a train his main method of attack is to rush at MegaMan. The latter also uses one as his ChargeCross' Charged Attack, called Charge Tackle.
  • Gentle Giant: Downplayed, but ChargeMan is easily one of the larger Navis in the series, but it isn't remotely suggested that he is in any way a violent one.
  • The Gimmick: A train and its conductor.
  • Locomotive Level: His test involves using ChargeMan to transport Mr. Progs through a railway while dodging/charging through obstacles and picking up more passengers along the tracks.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: As a giant train with a face on it, ChargeMan is a far cry removed in design from the humanoid NetNavis.
  • Playing with Fire: ChargeMan is a Fire Navi.

World Three

    BlastMan.EXE

BlastMan.EXE

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blastman.jpg
"Looks like a lost little critter has wandered in... Better get out fast before you become a crispy critter!"
A Fire Navi that causes chaos during Lan's first day in the Cyber Academy by taking control of the school's Security Bots. He appears to act alone, but his operator is actually Joe Mach, Lan's teacher.
  • Alternate Self: Retroactively, he's the Battle Network counterpart of the classic Robot Master of the same name from Mega Man 11. However, that game was released much later than the Battle Network series, so technically, he's the only NetNavi whose Robot Master is an alternate counterpart of him.
  • Corridor Cubbyhole Run: His level gimmick consists of him periodically summoning telegraphed fire storms that must be avoided by hiding behind metal cubes. He'll also use this during his fight, but there's a convenient metal cube on Mega's side of the field to avoid the incoming attack.
  • Evil Laugh: "Kwohohoho..."
  • Jerkass: "We're not nice guys, so you should just be glad it's not 10 on 1!"
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Inverted. He's Mr. Mach's navi but he wasn't shown to redeem himself unlike his operator.
  • Playing with Fire: He is a Fire Navi.
  • Simple, yet Awesome: BlastMan's Navi Chip sends projectiles down every row, which is a plain enough technique, but the chip does so much damage that the basic battle-chip by itself can wipe out every standard virus in the Seaside and Green Areas, which aren't available until after BlastMan's defeat. Using his navi-chip all but guarantees an S-rank when busting viruses in the early game.
  • Starter Villain: The first villain encountered in 6.
  • Warmup Boss:
    • Has predictable set of attacks and his signature fire storm attack can be easily avoided by hiding behind a metal block set on the battlefield. Having access to several Disc One Nukes very early on makes it even easier to beat him, even in his SP incarnation.
    • The game even acknowledges how easy he is by making him be the final boss of the Virus Battler sidequest. Yes, you can beat his first form using a couple of completely AI-controlled viruses.

    Captain Blackbeard and DiveMan.EXE

Blackbeard (Captain Kurohige)

Blackbeard voiced by: Kouji Ishii

DiveMan voiced by: Shinji Kawada

"Sharks and alligators on the rampage! People runnin' for their lives! Isn't me show the best show in history, matey!?"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blackbeard_diveman.jpg
A man with violent tendencies with a tendency to talk like a pirate. In the sixth game, he attempts to cause mass chaos at the Aquarium as revenge for being fired from the Aquarium. Operator of DiveMan.EXE.
  • Alternate Self: DiveMan is the Battle Network counterpart of the classic Robot Master of the same name from Mega Man 4. He is notably the only villainous NetNavi in Battle Network 6 to have a direct classic counterpart.
  • The Beastmaster: Just like Inukai, though Blackbeard only controls aquatic animals due to the aquarium setting.
  • The Dog Bites Back: The recipient. When Blackbeard took Mick hostage as a way to escape, the same aquarium animals he mistreated came to Mick's rescue.
  • Dirty Coward: Blackbeard used his own Navi's deletion as a distraction to escape Lan, and takes Mick hostage.
  • "Get Back Here!" Boss: DiveMan spends most of the battle submerged and is only vulnerable when he surfaces to attack.
  • Making a Splash: DiveMan is an Aqua Navi. His Navi Chip even has him making a literal giant splash with his hands.
  • Pirate: What he's going for, despite the fact that his day job is an animal trainer.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To Inukai from Mega Man Battle Network 3: White and Blue
    • Both are Fat Bastard Beastmasters who Abuse Animals, and each has an Evil Plan to cause an Escaped Animal Rampage. (Between them, Blackbeard has a stronger aquatic Motif, while Inukai specializes mostly in land-animals).
    • Each of them is also the second WWW member to face MegaMan and further the first WWW member to be dispensed with by their organization in their respective games.
  • Verbal Tic: DiveMan tends to end his sentences with "Awooga!" ("De a~ru" in the Japanese version.)
  • Whip of Dominance: He carries a black bullwhip with him, as a nod to his past as a cruel animal trainer for an aquarium that got fired for abusive taming methods, which involved excessive whipping.

    Yuika and CircusMan.EXE

Yuika (Chirol)

Yuika voiced by: Rie Kanda

CircusMan voiced by: Yasuhiko Kawada

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuika_circusman.jpg
A rather selfish girl that will use underhanded tactics to get ahead in life. In the games, she, along with CircusMan.EXE, revives Gregar and Falzar. They capture the one opposite of the version being played, while Mega Man absorbs the other. Later on, they successfully capture MegaMan for a short time, and Yuika along with everyone but Mach break off from the World Three to form their own organization.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In the manga, instead of being WWW members, Yuika and her navi are apart of Colonel's forces. Granted, they were still tasked with trying to capture MegaMan which didn't end so well for CircusMan once the hero used Beast Out.
  • The Beastmaster:
    • CircusMan is deployed to capture the Cybeasts and seal them inside his own body—he even has a special animation where he unfolds his chest like an animal cage to do it.
    • The Fire Ring technique summons burning hoops for him to direct lions to leap through at the crack of a whip.
  • Evil Laugh: "Tee hee hee!" As she usually gets her way in the story, Yuika does this enough to be a Giggling Villain.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Only Yuika's left stocking and twintail are held up—between the equivalent on her right side drooping and how she wears her purse, it gives her whole design a subtle slant.
  • The Gimmick: CircusMan is a walking, talking Circus of Fear and his Operator Yuika is a Villainous Harlequin.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: CircusMan.EXE's Gloom Cage, in which he turns into a big top and tries to catch the target inside it. If CircusMan succeeds, the only thing that can be seen is the sides of the tent bulging and writhing violently while the target accumulates damage from the Death of a Thousand Cuts.
  • King of Beasts: CircusMan can summon lions to attack horizontally with his Fire Ring attack. He often mixes it up with his vertical clap attack to confuse players.
  • Monster Clown: Exaggerated by CircusMan, who's not quite a clown so much as the whole Circus of Fear incarnate. He can turn into an animal cage to seal the Cybeasts in, he can send lions leaping through burning hoops, and he can turn into a whole big-top on top of that. Also, he can literally steal your soul.
  • Sexy Jester: Yuika is a cute Villainous Harlequin.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute:
  • Terrible Trio: Yuika creates one with Ito and Vic in the latter part of the game.
  • Villainous Harlequin: Yuika, who wears clownish getup, acts like a circus performer, and tends to be rather casual about doing evil things.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: CircusMan harvests the souls of several Navis to awaken the Cybeasts.

    Prosecutor Ito and JudgeMan.EXE

Prosecutor Ito (Satoru Roppo)

Ito voiced by: Junji Majima

JudgeMan voiced by: Yoshinori Sonobe

"I figured that if humans couldn't make the perfect society, then I might as well destroy it!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ito_judgeman.jpg
A cheerful but cynical lawyer who wants justice, but knows that true justice cannot be achieved unless the world is destroyed. He and JudgeMan.EXE serve the World Three by punishing those that fail the organization and remove those that are deemed to be a threat. They attempt to frame Yuichiro Hikari in the sixth game.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In the anime, he is simply a bored, cynical lawyer taking out his bad mood on everyone else. In the manga, JudgeMan is a part of Colonel's forces, though still tried his best to delete MegaMan for his Navi mark.
  • Affably Evil: None of his cheeriness is faked, but it hides a deeply misanthropic worldview.
  • Amoral Attorney: He wants true justice by destroying the world.
  • Badass Bookworm: He's always carrying a book, fitting his position as a lawyer. But he's also a capable netbattler, skilled enough to get the attention of WWW.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Even when he is revealed to be an enemy, his friendly personality really doesn't change that much.
  • Books That Bite: One of JudgeMan's attacks summons giant fanged books that chomp towards his opponents.
  • Broken Pedestal: Lan idolizes Ito until he discovers that he framed his father and tried to corrupt the Judge Tree.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: In the anime, Ito starts getting JudgeMan to arrest Navis for even the slightest inconvenience, without paying mind to the collateral damage he causes.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He adores his Navi, and finding out MegaMan has killed JudgeMan is enough to send him into a murderous rage against Lan.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Which reflects his sneaky attitude masked by his appearance.
  • Flowery Elizabethan English: JudgeMan speaks like this.
  • The Gimmick: A judge NetNavi and his lawyer Operator.
  • Hypocrite: He possesses a strong hatred of criminals and anything unjust, but becomes one in the pursuit of his goals. Also, even though he believes in order, he tries to bring it about by destroying the crime-filled world.
  • Irony: After his defeat, he lets himself be arrested and get judged by the Judge Tree, the very system he designed and sabotaged.
  • Judge, Jury, and Executioner: Thanks to his control over the Judge Tree, he can declare anyone and everyone guilty and specify the punishment of his choice. In the anime, he instead prides himself as someone better than the Net Saviors, and acts as a vigilante dispensing justice on his own.
  • Just a Kid: He describes Lan like this and tells him he's too nice when Lan gives him a speech about fighting crime to protect the people he cares about.
  • Knight Templar: A perfect example of when a prosecutor's self-righteousness is bent towards outright villainy.
  • Shock and Awe: JudgeMan has an attack that strikes you with an electrical whip. This seems to be the only "Law" or "Justice" type attack he has since the rest seem to fit the book theme.note  He was originally called BookMan.EXE, which makes much more sense.
  • Throw the Book at Them: A number of JudgeMan's attacks involve using books as projectiles or shields.
  • You Have Failed Me: Ito's first appearance involves bringing Blackbeard to court — this allows the WWW to dispose of failed underlings through a lawful pretense.

    Vic and ElementMan.EXE

Vic (Tsuyuharu Nyudo)

Vic voiced by: Yasuyuki Kase

ElementMan voiced by: Go Shinomiya

"Demons who'll throw humans into the pit of fear...Too bad you won't be seeing them, though, because you'll be too busy crashing into the ground with Sky Town!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vic_elementman.jpg
A man that can be described as somewhat of a lunatic with some ninja-like abilities that have never really been explained in the sixth game. He and ElementMan.EXE wreak havoc with the weather by taking over Sky Town's weather control system.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In the anime, he's just an incompetent weatherman trying to get revenge on Lan and the others who mocked his incorrect forecasts. In the manga, ElementMan is a minion of Colonel who was tasked with getting MegaMan's Navi mark.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Vic wears a raincoat and galoshes; for bonus points, his hair looks like a fluffy raincloud.
  • Barrier Change Boss: ElementMan can access all four main elements in the series; Fire, Aqua, Elec and Wood, affecting his weakness as well.
  • Demoted to Extra: While Vic and ElementMan appear in Battle Network 6 as a WWW Operator, in MegaMan NT Warrior they're little more than Filler Villains for the Beast+ Beach Episode.
  • Dub Name Change: The Operator's Japanese name is Tsuyuharu Nyuudou. His English name is... Vic.
  • The Gimmick:
    • Foul weather.
      • Vic wears a raincoat, galoshes, and a shirt with a raindrop pattern; his hair looks like a dark, wispy rain-cloud; and he hacks Sky Town, which as the name implies is found in the midst of the clouds. This motif was reinforced in concept art and RockMan.EXE Beast+, where Vic is a weatherman.
      • ElementMan is a walking, talking Weather-Control Machine who uses environmental disasters for nearly all of his attacks.
    • This is confused somewhat by Vic's secondary gimmick: inexplicable ninja skills.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: Vic has some ninja skills—he's a Master of Disguise and is skilled with a smoke-bomb—but his typical outfit and motif are about as far from an actual ninja as you could imagine.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: How Vic developed his Highly-Visible Ninja skills is never explained.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: ElementMan speaks in a mixture of "pi" "ki" and "ra" syllables. Like with DesertMan of Battle Network 3, the game provides subtitles.
  • Master of Disguise: Through most of his introductory chapter, Vic is disguised as an Admin from Sky Town, unmasking himself when confronted.
  • Mundane Solution: In the Beast+ anime, Vic is handed a Mini Copybot, and tries to get ElementMan to wreak havoc with his weather powers. However, the Copybot's miniscule size means that ElementMan's efforts become laughably pathetic. He gets a lot more mileage by jacking his Navi into the theme park's network.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Vic never stops smiling—even when he's angry, the corners of his mouth are still, technically, upturned.
  • Psychotic Smirk: Vic wears one constantly in his character portrait.
  • Tornado Move: ElementMan's basic attack, which he uses regardless of his current form, sends one across the arena, covering the same area as a Boomer chip.

Cybeasts

    Gregar

Gregar (Glaga)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gregar.png
Gregar is the first of the two mythic "Cybeasts" (Dennoujuu), along with its counterpart, Falzar. Gregar appeared first, originally forming when a huge mass of BugFrags combined and became sentient, taking the form of a monstrous wolf. (Years later, the net-mafia Gospel would accidentally enact a corrupted version of this process and produce the Super-Bug Organism). Gregar was wild and uncontrollable, and ended up destroying everything it touched; in response, a scientist created another Cybeast, named Falzar.

Unfortunately, the two were too evenly matched and the situation instead worsened. Eventually the humans gave up on salvaging the original network and simply built a new one on top of it, sealing the Cybeasts together in the "Underground" after they were weakened from one of their most violent stalemate clashs. This seal gets broken in the sixth game, when CircusMan.EXE used stolen Navi lifeforce to empower the Cybeasts to escape their prison. Depending on the version, Gregar either was imprisoned in CircusMan's body or sealed in MegaMan's body, where it fights to take over.

    Falzar

Falzar (Falzer)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/falzar.png
In the games, Falzar was created by Mayor Cain's grandfather in order to fight and defeat Gregar. This backfired and caused even more damage to the net. Falzar's design is based on a phoenix, and uses appropriate wind and fire-based attacks. Both Falzar and Gregar were eventually sealed within the Underground areas located near Central Area 3 after one of their battles left both in a weakened state. In the sixth game, the seal is broken and Falzer is revived by CircusMan, and depending on the version, Falzar is either captured by CircusMan or absorbed by MegaMan.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In Rockman.EXE Beast, he and Gregar were creations of Beyondard Wily in the parallel world, still warring with each other but over the rights to rule Beyondard. Falzar is the loser of their battle.
  • Animalistic Abomination: Invoked by his creators, who wanted to create something similar to Gregar.
  • Antagonist Title: With Gregar for their respective versions of Battle Network 6.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With WWW, but also more directly with Gregar.
  • Blow You Away: A T-shaped tornado breath, as a counterpart to Gregar's electric one. Echoed by TenguBeast's null-chip charge attack.
  • Death from Above: One of Falzar's signature attacks involves it flying into the air out of range of any attacks, and flapping its wings to generate wind that sends MegaMan to the back row while trying to hit him with its loose sharp feathers.
  • Desperation Attack: Same as above, although replace the wind and feather part with "suddenly rushing down the column and trying to slice MegaMan's head off". This attack can be replicated by GroundBeast, although the violent rushing is toned down.
  • Evil Knockoff: Played with. He was designed to be the good counterpart to Gregar, or at the very least willing to stave him off, but ended up being just as bad as the Cybeast after all.
  • Fusion Dance: With Gregar in the anime, after he loses their fight.
  • Final Boss: Of the Falzar version, and for the series as a whole.
  • Giant Flyer: A humongous avian-like creature who is about the same size as Gregar.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Falzar was originally created to put a stop to Gregar's rampage, because nothing the humans had was in the same weight class. Unfortunately, Falzer was unable to actually defeat it, and instead got caught up in a death match stalemate that made things worse.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: In the same vein as its rival. In the Gregar version, it's captured by CircusMan and ends up as The Unfought for the rest of the game. In its own version it's downplayed, being imprisoned inside MegaMan, while being able to make him go berserk and is the main problem & Final Boss, but WWW serves a more active role in the story. Its own creation and purpose, being to fight Gregar, also helps make it apply for this.
  • Laser-Guided Tyke-Bomb: Was created for the purpose of defeating Gregar. Big mistake.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Of the two, Falzar specializes in both agility and mobility. Don't count Gregar out, though, and don't call Falzar "weak" unless you want to die.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: It was specifically designed to put an end to Gregar's rampage, but the ensuing battle only damaged the net even further and both were unable to be stopped until the both of them were sealed.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: In the anime, Gregar has more Zoanoroids working for him especially since he has Zoano Pharoah Man who has the ability to convert other navis into Gregar's soldiers, successfully corrupted Beyonard Colonel, and the war between the two Cybeasts results in Falzar losing and getting absorbed by Gregar.
  • The Phoenix: Clearly modeled after one, to contrast with Gregar being based on a mammal.
  • Playing with Fire: Has the ability to summon fiery birdlings.
  • Power Floats: His beast transformation gives MegaMan Air Shoes. He's also the only final boss that doesn't have any panels on his side of the field (Duo and Nebula Gray had one column).
  • Primary-Color Champion: It's predominantly red, and was created in an effort to fight Gregar. Things didn't pan out.
  • Red/Green Contrast: Falzar is red, a titan quickly handmade in retaliation to Gregar's interference in the form of an avian associated with and capable of using flames; a phoenix. The intention was to make a Primary-Color Champion with mobility to oppose the brutish Secondary Color Nemesis in the form of Gregar, but things didn't go as planned.
  • Related in the Adaptation: He and Gregar were created together by Wily in the anime.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Originally Falzar was sealed in the Underground. When he finally escaped, he ended up sealed in one of two new cans, either CircusMan or MegaMan, depending on the version.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Not as bad as Gregar's case, where the only alternative spelling in this case is Falzer.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: If he's the one MegaMan contains, his power can be tapped on, but can also send Mega berserk if misused.
  • The Unfought: In the Gregar version, due to being absorbed by CircusMan.
  • Version-Exclusive Content: Just like with his rival, being the Final Boss of its version but The Unfought in the Gregar version.

Alternative Title(s): Mega Man Battle Network 6
