Characters from the Interactive Fiction game, Keeper of the Sun and Moon.

    open/close all folders

    The MC
The protagonist and player character. They end up at New World Magi Academy after being attacked by a gorgon.

  • Blessed with Suck: On the one hand, their Keeper status gives them incredibly magical and physical abilities. On the other hand, these abilities are a siren call to monsters and the celestial nature of their magic makes them incredibly likely to suffer from Magic Overuse Syndrome, which may be fatal. Not to mention all that Frostbite is dead set on hunting down Keepers...
  • Butt-Monkey: Downplayed, but they end up getting attacked by monsters and villains quite often and sometimes get caught in the middle of conflicts between their classmates.
  • Character Customization: Their name, gender, family, appearance, species, powers, and more are customized by the player.
  • The Chosen One: They're revealed to be a keeper at the end of book one. Invoked, in that the MC can also realize their mother was deliberately experimented on with the goal that they'd be born a keeper.
  • Compelling Voice: They're naturally adept at compulsion.
  • Disappeared Dad: If the player selects the family background with a human mother.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: If the MC is customized as a non-magician human, they can still be skilled enough to keep up with their magical classmates, and that's before discovering their powers of compulsion.
  • Face–Heel Turn: As a nephilim or cambion, they can fake their loyalty to their kind. At the end of the game, they can turn around and help Reyna escape.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: If their parents are Lysander or Roxana, the MC inherits their eyes. A blue-eyed MC may have gotten their eyes from Julian.
  • Fish out of Water: Spent most of their life in normal human society before they were abruptly brought into NMC.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: The MC is at least part human, and was raised by their human relatives.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Aside from the basic name and appearance customisation, it's also possible to select the magi race for MC, this ranges from elemental, cambion, nephilim, drakaina, to kitsune.
  • The Hero: Can be played as one by being a lawful and kind MC.
  • Hunter of Monsters: If they're human and become a hunter.
  • An Ice Person / Playing with Fire / Shock and Awe: Depending on the player's choices, they can manipulate ice, fire, or lightning.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: The player can express this trope frequently if they wish, particularly expressing frustration at being forced to attend Magi Academy with little say on the matter and the fact that baddies and monsters end up trying to kill them on a semi-frequent basis.
  • It Sucks to Be the Chosen One: The MC can take this perspective, hating the media frenzy and constant attacks that come part and parcel of being a Keeper.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: A kind and/or lawful MC that's the child of Roxana or Julian.
  • Jumped at the Call: The MC can be absolutely delighted at the prospect of exploring their powers and the new and wonderful world of Magi.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Can be played as one with high cunning.
  • Missing Mom: If the player selects the family background with a human father.
  • Naïve Newcomer: They are brand new to magic.
  • Nephewism: If the player say that they have both their parents, it will be revealed that their parents are actually their aunt and uncle.
  • Not Supposed to Be a Punishment: A highly resistant MC can view being forced to attend the Magi Academy and being unable to return to their home in the human world as a form of imprisonment. While the suitemates hope the MC will eventually get over their frustration and give life in NMC more of a chance, they do express sympathy given how sudden their attendance is and they do somewhat understand that part of the MC's frustration over the matter is due to them having been given little to no say on the matter.
  • Phony Psychic: After they're revealed as a Keeper, the 'official' line about a human MC's species is that they're a psychic.
  • Pummeling the Corpse: They end up doing this if they decide to kill Reyna with low sanity
  • Stranger in a Strange School: They can be a human while still attending Magi Academy.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: If their mother is Roxana then they take strongly after her, to the point where many people can tell the MC's parentage from sight alone. If their mother is Isabella then the MC also looks so much like her that Lysander is able to tell that they're his child at a glance after not seeing them for decades.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: This can be MC's responses for their exams, especially at one point during the final exams, they can even complain about always being the one being picked first.

    The Suitemates

Astrid Adtaz

I'm going to ignore it until I get over it, yes.
The cambion that introduces the MC to magic after they’re attacked by a gorgon. She's one of the MC’s suitemates and potential roommate.

  • Action Girl: Like most of female characters, although Astrid gets a special shout-out for fighting off a gorgon from a half-dead MC just before the game begins.
  • Always Someone Better: She feels her brother, Altair, is this.
  • Cute Monster Girl: She's a cambion, meaning that she's part demon. She's also a bubbly, girly fashionista and amateur blogger.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Whatever happened to make her transfer from Solanaceae was so terrible that she begged Altair to erase her memories of it.
  • Elemental Powers: Can manipulate darkness.
  • First Girl Wins: If the MC ends up dating her.
  • Former Friend of Alpha Bitch: She used to be friends with Reyna. It didn't end well.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: If befriended, she told MC they don't have to pay her back a single dime of her $1000 purchase.
  • In-Series Nickname: Asta, by her family, childhood frenemies, and the MC if they're close. Demon girl and Blondie by Thalia.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: It was revealed that she asked Altair to wipe her memory of the things she did with Reyna at her request.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • Our Demons Are Different: She's a cambion.
  • Playing with Fire: Can control fire as part of her Cambion heritage. Book two can reveal that he's moved on to manipulating hellfire.
  • Rescue Romance: She saves the MC from being killed by a gorgon, and is possible to romance later in the story. The gorgon-fighting thing will be brought up a few times during the course of their relationship.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Despite coming from an extremely wealthy family—she drops $1000 on school supplies for MC without thinking about it—she is very kind and generous.
  • Stepford Smiler: Downplayed with Astrid, who is implied to be depressed throughout the first book and covering it up by being overly positive.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: According to Word of God, Astrid is one of the most protective of the possible love interests when it comes to MC.

Kol Foster

So far she hasn't tried to kill me and use my blood in some form of ritual magic, so I guess I should be grateful.
A shifter and one of the MC's suitemates.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Kol may seem like just a very sweet college kid, but there are a few scenes that suggest he has some deeply buried resentments.
Kol, angrily: [Hunters] won’t stop until they see us all burn.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He betrays the MC because they can't really expect him to choose someone he just met over the lives of his younger siblings.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His parents were murdered when he was in high school.
  • Easily Forgiven: The MC can immediately forgive him for selling them to Reyna. He doesn't seem to feel much better anyway.
    • Even if the MC doesn't forgive them, if they reveal his deception, the other suitemates forgive him. Seeing as they all have siblings themselves, it makes sense to them that Kol wouldn't value someone he just met above his own family.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Fiercely protective of his younger siblings, to the point where he'd do anything for them. This can also extend to a romanced MC with high enough relationship points.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. His real name is Nicolas, which happens to be the same as Reyna's gradnfather, a prominent cambion politician.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • Promoted to Parent: Since his parents died, he takes care of his siblings.
  • In-Series Nickname: Lover boy, by Thalia.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: He can transform into different animals or magical creatures at will.
  • You Said You Would Let Them Go: Part of his conditions for helping Reyna was that the MC would not be hurt after the ritual.

Leon Dalton

MC: Are most nephilim like you?
Leon: If by that you mean handsome, intelligent, and skilled in magic, then no, they’re not.
A nephilim and one of the MC’s suitemates. He can also potentially be the MC's roommate.

  • Attention Whore: Downplayed. At the beginning of Day and Night, Leon is found arguing with Astrid because of the resurgence of a story he told the presses about how he saved her. Needless to say, she was not happy. He's also one of the neediest love interests when it came to a romanced MC's attention.
  • Butt-Monkey: During the skating scene in Winter Solstice, he showed to be this from not knowing how to skate and keep denying it, falling constantly, bumping into Yakov. To rub it in, he also got peeled with snow by some random kids.
  • The Charmer: Unfortunately, a dark example of this. During book two, it is discovered that he is an empath because of an insensitive observation by Seraphina, which plays into his insecurity about being unloved. Upon finding out that he might have compelled everyone he knew into liking him, he had a mental breakdown and later on, tried to compel a romanced MC into hating him so that they won't be forced to love him because of artificial compulsion. They managed to resist in the end.
  • Chick Magnet: Has dated enough people that he can't keep count of them. All of his relationships prior to dating the protagonist are said by Word of God to be superficial. He was also mentioned to have many admirers and decidedly not oblivious about it.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His mother passed away during the Delacroix Massacre, this put a strain on his already tense family because of the death of his older sister, Celeste. After their deaths, Leon's relationship with his father degraded a lot. This also scarred Leon's view about having children, after seeing the effect of losing one on his family, he wouldn't want to have a child in fear of going through something similar to his parents.
Adding to this, it was revealed in Book Two that his sister is actually alive all along. She was kidnapped and turned into one of the nymphs after they lied about her death. They have never interacted much with each other up until the point of discovery. Further information about his mother's death is showed in his past memory. During the event of the Delacroix Massacre, he was thrown into the holy fire by Anetha Delacroix to manipulate and punish his mother for not joining the nymphs. His mother died saving him and the fire left a large scar across his back where he cannot feel anything. This worsens by Leon's faulty belief that he accidentally compelled his mother into saving him due to being an empath, otherwise, she'd have survived.
  • Deadpan Snarker: One of the most sarcastic characters in the game, which is the reason behind his constant bickering with Astrid.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Goes from uncaring about most people in his life to becoming best friends with the suitemates. If you played his route, MC can become either the love of his life or his best friend.
  • Devoted to You: If he has 80 relationship points in book two, his relationship description is "He'd go against everything he's been told if you asked for it."
  • Jerkass: Your first impression of him is him nitpicking your and Astrid's incapability to replying with more than one word, which he immediately got into a fight with Astrid about. He also has an arrogant attitude for the entirety of the series, which only softens if you get to become his friend.
  • Just Friends: Once had a crush on both Cressida and Cyrus according to Wordof God, however, nothing happened to that since they never dated and remained good friends.
  • Elemental Powers: Can manipulate light.
  • Friendless Background: Downplayed. While Leon is social and well-known, it is mentioned that he never had the emotional attachment with any of his acquaintances to become close friends with them. By the end of book one, he had grown closer to the suitemates, but not especially tight with any of them. Except for the protagonist who can potentially be his best friend or significant other.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Word of God listed him as one of the most jealous love interests.
  • Hairof Gold Heartof Gold: Averted then played straight. When you met him in the beginning, Leon is straightforward and rude, especially to Astrid, without provocation. Once you became his friend, however, it is shown that Leon is capable of genuinely caring about people around him.
  • Hot-Blooded: It is easy to rile him up because of his overinflated ego, aside from this, he is always eager to get into a fight against Astrid.
  • Hidden Depths: Beneath his arrogance is someone unable to have anything beyond superficial friendships until high school where he found substantial friendships in the Monroe twins thanks to their father's close works with each other. Even then, it is not until he became close with suitemates that he managed to grow close to them. Notably, he has dated a lot in the past, but they are superficial and casual, only until the MC that he stayed in a relationship for long enough to say the L-word.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: What he intended with his misguided attempt to compel a romanced MC into hating him, this was because he didn't want them to love him because of the influence from his empathic ability.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While he acts arrogant and pompous most of the times, Leon genuinely cares about his friends and looks after them in his own conceited ways.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • Love at First Sight: Subverted. The second fastest character to ask MC out in both genders, however, his initial interest in MC was purely superficial because they were new and exciting. However, Word of God confirmed him as one of the three people to fall in love with MC the fastest in a relationship.
  • Lethal Chef: His combining effort with Astrid to make a cake for their RA during her birthday had set up new regulations for the dorm to only have access to the kitchen with permission. Without MC's intervention, there's no saying how bad it could've been.
  • Messy Hair: Done intentionally. He's really into doing his hair and has it done artfully messy every morning.
  • Missing Mom: Not so much missing as dead. She passed away during the Delacroix Massacre.
  • Never Be Hurt Again: Because of the events of his past which tore his family apart, he had mainly superficial romantic relationships before MC and didn't have close friends before the events of Book One due to his unwillingness to form an emotional attachment with people.
  • Not a Morning Person: The only person who didn't come out during the ruckus because of Seraphina's arrival. If you are his roommate, you'll be more or less kicked out to deal with the situation whether you like it or not while Leon snuggled up under his blanket.
  • Our Angels Are Different: He's a nephilim.
  • Pretty Boy: Notably one of the few characters mentioned to be attractive, aside from Davina. He also took offence to MC being surprised about his major in book two by saying he's more than a 'pretty face'.
  • Pride: When asked if all Nephilim are like him, he answered with if, by that, you meant handsome, intelligent, and skilled in magic, then no, they are not.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: Has blue eyes, one of MC's first impression of him are his cold eyes.
  • In-Series Nickname: Kitty-cat and angel boy, by Thalia.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Immediately has one as early as chapter 3 of Sun and Moon if you agreed to go out with him. This also counts for his father's wedding where he and MC established that they love each other. However, their love for each other is truly hammered in when they managed to resist his compulsion to make them hate him because their love for him is real.
  • Running Gag: Somehow, always in an argument against Astrid whenever the suitemates hang out together.
  • Ship Tease: Between him and Astrid, they can actually get together if not romanced or stay single based on your choices.
  • Sore Loser: Made a whole fuss about losing during the winter solstice duelling tournament and demanded the judges to rewatch the footage.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: During the solstice ceremony, the protagonist can point out Leon looks like his father, Theron. He also has his father's somewhat narcissistic tendencies. Bonus if he's dating a female Nephilim MC since his father is also dating one.
  • True Love's Kiss: What a romanced MC did after breaking out of his compulsion when he tried to make them hate him.
  • Tsundere: Downplayed. He refuses to be anything but cool and confident, however, he gets flustered pretty fast when he fumbled during the ice-skating scene and when an MC romancing him called him adorable.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Seems to want his father’s approval.

Seraphina Delacroix

If you turn on us, you won't have to worry about Reyna. You'll have to worry about me.
A nymph and one of the MC’s suitemates.

  • Badass Bookworm: She's small and scary smart, and can also crush you.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: Even before the Delacroix's were wiped out, they seemed like a dysfunctional family.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": When Davina is tormenting her in her route in book two.
  • Bonding over Missing Parents: When Seraphina finds the MC researching the Delacroix Massacre—of which she is the only Delacroix to survive—she is furious. However, if the MC has a supernatural mother, they can figure out that her death and the Delacroix Massacre match up. Bringing this up as the MC's reason for digging into the massacre causes her to soften considerably.
  • Compelling Voice: As a nymph, she has particularly strong compulsion abilities.
  • Creepy Child: As a child she was this due to her telepathy. The MC specifically notes that she was 'unnerving' after seeing visions of her as a child.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her entire family was killed on the Winter Solstice, an important holiday for supernatural.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: If successfully romanced or befriended.
  • Emotionless Girl: She starts off as this. She gets better.
  • Famous Ancestor: She is the niece of Brant Delacroix, the previous Keeper.
  • Good with Numbers: She is specifically stated to be good at calculus.
  • Gilded Cage: Spent much of her time growing up in Nymph Isle after the Delacroix Massacre, to the point when it comes to interacting with others, she often lacked the social common sense needed.
  • Guide Dang It!: One of the harder characters to romance; if you don't meet her emotion stat requirements, she will break up with you before the Nymph Ball. The stat requirement to date her was lowered significantly when book one was re-released.
  • Happy Ending Override: Being the Sole Survivor of a famous massacre sucks: what is a personal tragedy for her is a fascinating story for everybody else. Everyone knows that she's an orphan and the gruesome details of how she became one are out there for anyone to read about. She also has to deal with books, documentaries, TV shows, and movies being made about her family.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: While she isn't entirely friendless at the beginning of the series, she only has two friends and no family to speak of. Her telepathy and lack of social skills don't help matters.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • Old Money: Seraphina is independently wealthy, due to inheriting the entire Delacroix fortune, which was a massive amount of generational wealth.
  • Parental Substitute: After her family's murder, she was raised by Secretary Celosia. Her route makes it clear that Celosia did a pretty terrible job.
  • Psychic Powers: She's a telepath.
  • In-Series Nickname: Red, by Thalia. Sera, by Katia and the MC, if they're close.
  • Sole Survivor: She's the last member of the Delacroix family.

Thalia Sato

A siren and one of the MC’s suitemates.

Yakov Vasilyev

A wraith and one of the MC's suitemates.

  • Badass Family: Professor Petrova and Gisela are two of his relatives. All of them are very capable in battle, and he is working with his aunt and cousin on a secret mission.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: This occurs when the MC and Yakov have disagreements early in their romance. While the MC may have a point that they should be able to decide whether something is too dangerous for them to involve themselves, Yakov makes the equally valid point that as it is his business and does not currently involve the MC, he is under no obligation to share his secrets.
MC: Isn't it more dangerous for me not to know?
Yakov: ...Not if you don't try to find out for yourself.
  • Clashing Cousins: He and his cousin Gisela do not get along, and many of their interactions are cold.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Something in his past has led to him becoming estranged from much of his family: he doesn't live with his parents, his cousin hates him, and someone is sending assassins after him.
  • Dissonant Serenity: At the end of his route, a man leaps out of the shadows and holds him at knifepoint. He doesn’t seem too perturbed by it.
    • Can also be emphasized if he breaks up with an emotional MC, who is practically screaming by the end of the scene. Lampshaded in that the MC fully realizes that this makes them look like they're overreacting to passersby.
  • Guide Dang It!: One of the harder characters to romance; if you don't meet his emotion stat requirement, he will break up with you before the Nymph Ball. The stat requirement to date him was lowered significantly when book one was re-released.
  • Icy Gray Eyes: Yakov has gray eyes, and initially appears unapproachable, keeping others at a distance. Even when romanced, he remains logical and isn't often carried away by his emotions.
  • Healing Hands: He has healing powers.
  • It's Not You, It's My Enemies: If he breaks up with the MC, this is his reasoning.
  • In-Series Nickname: Comrade, by Thalia.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • Mother Russia Makes You Strong: Downplayed. Yakov is the tallest of the male love interests, very stoic, and seems to intimidate a few students. He also used to work for a terrorist organization as a child soldier, so there is that as well. Personality-wise, however, he comes across as relatively pleasant and empathetic, if closed off and mysterious.
  • Nephewism: He does not live with his parents. Instead, his aunt supports him.
  • Phenotype Stereotype: He’s tall, blond, light-skinned and Russian.
  • The Stoic: Rarely display emotions, extremely discretive, doesn't talk much about himself but he's really good at making others talk about themselves. However, he does have a dry sense of humour. At the end of book one, if romanced, he barely reacted during the scene where he almost got assassinated while MC panicked.
    Other Students

Altair Adtaz

A cambion and the older brother of Astrid.

  • Aloof Big Brother: Acted this way towards Astrid in her freshman year, due to his disapproval over her getting involved with Reyna's gang.
  • Dark Secret: Compelled Astrid to forget her time at Solanaceae in the aftermath of her suicide attempt, after she begged him to do so.
  • Did They or Didn't They?: If he's dating the MC and they go to the Nymph ball, they can go on a quest to find Alty's favorite dessert and end up hiding in an abandoned alcove. MC can suggest that they do "better things here than hide" to which Altair will respond with incredulity and ask if MC is on the same page as him. What exactly goes down in the alcove is up for the player's interpretation, though Altair's flustered reactions when he and the MC reminisce about it book two imply that something juicy occured.
  • Disposable Intern: Working on PMI's Anti-Magic potion means that he's very close to becoming this, due to the sheer amount of dangerous and/or toxic ingredients that the potion calls for. Several members of the project's upper management lampshade this, but don't do anything to interfer as without him the project would never get off the ground.
  • Failure Knight: He's carrying around a lot of guilt and self loathing over shunning Astrid after she fell in with Renya, to the point where he sees himself as one of the main contributors towards her eventual suicide attempt. The scars from that event have left him terrified of failing other people who he cares for.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Gets along with and charms nearly everybody in-universe.
  • Healthcare Motivation: He's actually very aware of all the dangers involved with working on PMI's Anti-Magic potion. However he choses to continue working on the project anyway as it has the potential to be a groundbreaking advance for the treatment of Magic Overuse Syndrome, which the MC is at great danger of succumbing to.
  • In-Series Nickname: Alty, by his family, childhood friends, and the MC if they're close.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • My Greatest Failure: Not being there for Astrid when she caught in Reyna's clutches. The fallout of his inaction has left him with a lot of emotional scars.
  • Nice Guy: His defining trait. At one point MC can ask him if there's anyone who doesn't like him.
  • Playing with Fire: Can control fire as part of his Cambion heritage. Book two can reveal that he's moved on to manipulating hellfire.
  • The Only One: His ridiculously high mana levels means that he's the only who can physically create PMI's Anti-Magic potion without being killed in the process.
  • Our Demons Are Different: He's a cambion.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper For Astrid. He's the only one who knows the truth about the dark events she experienced her time at Solanaceae, as her erased her memories of that time at her own request. He can potentially come clean to her about this at the end of book one.
  • Spoiled Sweet: His family is incredibly rich, but he comes off as fairly down-to-earth.
  • Stepford Smiler: His friendly and easygoing nature hides a lot of emotional anguish that stems from his role in Astrid's suicide attempt. Word of God is that he hid his anxieties behind a smile when he was younger.

Cressida Monroe

A nephilim and a friend of Astrid.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Implied to be this. While outwardly, she's always social and pleasant, she's actually a highly calculative person.
  • The Charmer: She's very good at playing politics.
  • In-Series Nickname: Cressy, by her family, childhood friends, and the MC if they're close.
  • Light Feminine Dark Feminine: This with Astrid. While their species had her classified as light, in term of personality, Astrid is the more honest and loving one, meanwhile Cressida is craftier and far more cunning.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Has shades of this, although she’s nice to most of the main characters.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • Our Angels Are Different: She's a nephilim.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: With Cyrus.
  • Workaholic: Her love for political intrigues bleed into her life, to the point where she can't even enjoy a social event simply and must use it for mingling and scheming at the expense of a romanced MC who came as her date.

Cyrus Monroe

A nephilim and Cressida's brother.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: A few minutes younger than Cressida, however, aside from their appearance, the two of them pretty much clashed in anything else. To the point where Cressida doesn't defend a MC who romanced Cyrus when it came to their dating choice.
  • Badass Boast: When asked if he will participate in the tournament, he said no he won't be fighting, he will be winning it.
  • Battle Couple: Can be one with MC, he's an extremely skilled duelist, often ranking in high places during tournaments.
  • Blind Obedience: Averted. Unlike his sister, his misanthropic nature and sour relationship with their father had him utterly opposed to participating in nephilim politics and showing species loyalty.
  • Brutal Honesty; One of his defining characteristics is how honest he is, to the point where he loathed anything about the scheming of NMC politics.
  • Chef of Iron: Easily one of the best cooks in the cast and he's working to become a professional duelist.
  • The Cynic: He's justifiably cynical about the social landscape in NMC due to growing up surrounded by his own father and twin sister, who are both politic-oriented.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Shows shades of this whenever he got pulled into the plotting of his friends and sister. He really didn't want to be there.
  • Determinator: When it comes to his dueling career, he's very devoted to it. It is also mentioned to be one of his character traits in the official profile.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Classified as one of the easiest to get jealous by Word of God.
  • In-Series Nickname: Cy, by his family, childhood friends, and the MC if they're close.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Implied to be this. Despite his cold exterior, he's actually caring towards MC who's close to him in his own ways by warning them about the political scheming behind the closed doors in NMC.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • Our Angels Are Different: He's a nephilim.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Always looks grumpy and annoyed by everything, especially during social events.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: With Cressida.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: In term of political intrigue, Blue to Cressida's Red. He largely opposes to being involved in any political scheming and prefers to be kept out of it at all times. However, flipped when it comes to social niceties, as Cyrus is far more straightforward and blunt with his words while Cressida is the more pleasant and craftier one.
  • Supreme Chef: During the baking scene with Leon and Astrid, the former mentioned they should've asked Cyrus to come and help since he's a good cook. He's also the one who handled cooking the breakfast on the first day of the vacation trip during winter break.
  • Tsundere: Always acts tough and aloof but he can be coerced into almost anything by a close friend or significant other MC. During his scene in Winter Solstices, after stomping away because MC teased him about the kiss, he was still the one who reached out to hold their hand first.

Davina Conti

A cambion who is friends with Reyna.
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Was Davina really compelled by Reyna? Or is she just a Manipulative Bastard who got away with everything?
  • Ambiguously Evil: Authorities have decided that she was being compelled by Reyna. This may be due to her father and uncle being high-ranking in the NMC government. Seraphina notes that she believes Davina was being compelled at least some of the time, leaving her culpability for Reyna's crimes questionable.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: To Seraphina, “Did it hurt more that Reyna at least had someone who loved her?"
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: In public, she's very charming. In private, she’s happy to torment Astrid/Seraphina/the MC.
  • Break Them by Talking: Done most notably to Seraphina in her route.
  • Crocodile Tears: Used in Astrid’s route while filming a video for her blog.
  • The Dragon: For Reyna.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: One of the only characters explicitly referred to as beautiful, she’s ambiguously evil at best.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Tends to be polite towards the MC.
  • Karma Houdini: Thanks to her connections, she is cleared of all wrongdoing despite helping to summon a demon.
  • Pet the Dog: She seems genuinely horrified at Jaime's death, and was clearly not expecting it.
  • Sole Survivor: Should MC kill Reyna, they can reflect during the next semester that Davina is "well and truly alone" and the only surviving member of the cambion trio that stole the artifacts.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Lampshaded by Davina, when she asks if the MC wants her to repent and become this.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: As of book two, there are many news stories pitying Davina for the ordeal she went through with Reyna.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Pulled successfully after Reyna fails.

Dominic Blanchard

An elemental who is studying at Magi during the MC's second year.

Gisela Hathaway

A nymph and one of Seraphina's friends.

Jaime Sterling

A cambion who is friends with Reyna.
  • Affably Evil: He's genuinely nice to the MC. He also promises he'll let them leave after the ritual.
  • Alas, Poor Villain
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Word of God confirms that he was in fact being compelled by Reyna to help her summon a demon.
  • Killed Off for Real: He was killed by Reyna for a demon-summoning ritual.
  • Mind-Control Eyes: Implied to have them permanently thanks to being repeatedly controlled by Reyna, hence the need for his ever present sunglasses.
  • Morality Pet: Appears to have been a minor one for Davina.
  • Token Good Teammate: Of the cambion trio. Reyna manipulated him and Davina into stealing the artifacts and summoning a demon, Davina appears to be rather amoral and unlikable regardless of Reyna's influence and shows no remorse over the summoning, while for all intents and purposes, Jaime seems to have been a genuinely good person who was Brainwashed and Crazy, and repeatedly questions his actions with the other three, up until when he is ruthlessly sacrificed by Reyna for the demon summoning ritual.
  • Sunglasses at Night: Which the MC can lampshade. They're there to hide his Mind-Control Eyes.

Jarrod Lin

A magician.

Katia Meyer

A nymph and one of Seraphina's friends.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Due to her visions of the future, she is understandably confused about time. On top of that, she's extremely sheltered and naive.
  • Identity Amnesia: Katia can't remember her past. She's very subtle about it—the MC only finds out if she confesses it to them if they have a good relationship.
  • Kiss of Death: Celosia kisses Katia on the forehead before killing her.
  • Love Interest: Can be romanced by the MC.
  • Morality Pet: Appears to be one for Gisela
  • Seers: She has this ability.
  • Spoiled Sweet: She gets everything she wants, but is incredibly sweet and friendly.

Marcela Sinclair

A drakaina freshman at Magi during the MC's second year.

Reyna Moreno

A cambion former friend of Astrid.
  • Alpha Bitch: Before you meet her, both Astrid and Altair are pretty insistent that she's this. They're proven to be right when she turns out to be the Big Bad of book one and maintains her status as major threat to the MC for the first half of book 2. Later downplayed when it's revealed that while she did act terribly, her actions in both books were heavily manipulated by outside influences - the demon possessing her in book 1, and Frostbite in book 2.
  • Big Bad: She is the one behind the thefts of the celestial artifacts and blackmailed Kol into dragging the MC into participating in the demon summoning ritual.
  • Demonic Possession: A demon has been manipulating her for years into performing a ceremony that will unseal it. Once free, said demon promptly jumps into her body and starts wrecking havoc.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Her motivation is bringing back her sister
  • Evil Minions: Davina and Jamie act as hers in book one. She is technically is in both books - in book 1 the demon possessing her is puppeting her effortlessly, and in book 2 Frostbite are just using her as a disposable assassin to take out the MC.
  • False Friend: To Astrid. She pulled Astrid into her orbit with the sole intention of using Astrid's warding expertise in her celestial artifact heists.
  • Fatal Flaw: Her love for her siblings. In the first book a demon manipulates her into doing it's bidding by promising her that it will revive her dead sister. In book 2, she ends up working for Frostbite after they threaten her brother's life, and is eventually killed by them when they deem her a failure.
  • Fond Memories That Could Have Been: In her final moments, the non-possessed, non-Frostbite coerced Reyna wistfully muses that she and MC might have been friends if they met in another life.
  • Mind Control: Has compelled her posse into following her will without question. She attempted to do the same to Astrid when the latter was at Solanaceae, and also manages to ensnare an MC with low willpower if they decide to spare her during the final battle.
  • Redemption Equals Death: If she survives the events of book 1, she ultimately turns against Frostbite and saves the MC's hide after Frostbite agents slit her brother's throat and dies in the resulting battle.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Goes on one against Frostbite after they mortally wound her brother.
  • Starter Villain: In Book 2. She's the first major threat that the MC comes up against, but is killed midway through the book to clear the way for Frostbite to assume their true Big Bad status.
  • Third-Person Person: Starts speaking this way after the demon who's manipulating her fully takes over her body.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: She seemed perfectly pleasant as a five-year-old in the forest guardian's visions.
  • You Have Failed Me: On the receiving end of this in book 2. Her Frostbite handlers eventually decide that she's failed to kill the MC one too many times, and terminate her on the spot.

Roland Castella

The Director of Nova Labs, he's potentially the MC's uncle.
  • Angsty Surviving Twin: Inverted. Roland seems quite pleased when discussing Roxana’s death in book two.
  • Brainwashing for the Greater Good: Roland can be compelled by MC or Seraphina in order to learn more about the Constellation Project. He does not appear to remember this in Book 2.
  • Mad Scientist: He's the Director of Nova Labs and was involved in the Constellation Project.
  • The Un-Favourite: With how much everyone adored Roxana, how could he not be?

  • Parental Neglect: She is implied to have left most actual parenting to Lucas, only visiting to play with the MC or to bring them to visit her friend.

General

A prominent nephilim family that was attacked in the Delacroix Massacre, an event that killed all but one family member.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: They’re wealthy, powerful, and when the last surviving member makes a list of people who would want to kill them, she comes up with over five hundred names. The members competed for influence and power, taking control of various political positions throughout history. On Seraphina’s route, the MC learns that her father once tried to kill his brother right in front of her. Other relationships are implied to have been equally fraught.

  • Evil Matriarch: The head of the Delacroix family, she’s decidedly not nice.
  • Iron Lady: In her role as Nymph Secretary.
  • Offing the Offspring: Averted. Her children died under suspicious circumstances, but it was her mother that did it.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: The public has no idea about Anetha’s activities.
  • Villainous Legacy: Anetha’s actions were the cause of the Constellation Project and possibly the Delacroix Massacre.

  • Pet the Dog: He seems to have been a very selfish person, but the MC can learn in book two that he saved Seraphina’s life and tried to help Alexa.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Downplayed. He was willing to mind control five-year-old Reyna after she walked in on him and Melanthe to keep her from talking about it, but didn't otherwise harm her.
  • Youngest Child Wins: He’s the youngest sibling, a keeper, and adored by the public by virtue of existing.
