Characters / Deadpool: Supporting Characters

Go To

Deadpool's relationship status with just about everyone in the Deadpool comics is "it's complicated". This page is for characters that aren't other Deadpools or his committed enemies, loosely collected here as "allies". Most have been antagonists in at least one story due to Deadpool being Deadpool. Tropes for characters who have their own pages are specific to their Deadpool appearances.

For other characters in the Deadpool comic books, see the character sheet.

Deadpool's friends and frenemies:

    Agent X

Agent X

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/agent_x_03_udon_studios.jpg

Alter Ego: Nijo

Notable Aliases: Alex Hayden, Nijo Minamiyori

Species: Human mutant

First Appearance: Deadpool (Vol. 3) #65 (March, 2002) note ; Agent X #1 (August, 2002) note

Nijo was an assassin, mercenary, and agent employed by Black Swan who blamed Deadpool for his brother's death.

  • Beautiful Condemned Building: He is thrilled to have his own condemned fun park.
  • Faking Amnesia: Taskmaster accuses Alex Hayden of being Wade Wilson pulling this trick. This ends up being a subversion, as while it's unclear whether he is Deadpool or not, the amnesia is very real. Then, it turns out Alex Hayden isn't even Wade!
  • Just Like Making Love: One issue had a man loudly describing his meal to his disgusted date as the trope. Alex beats the crap out of him at the spot, while claiming that food is not sex.
  • Naked People Trapped Outside: In Agent X #2, Alex and Outlaw are assigned to try to take out The Punisher and steal his Colt .45 handguns. They fail miserably and are caught by him, but he surprisingly spares them in exchange for info on who put the bounty on him. But he still takes all of Alex and Outlaw's clothing, and steal Outlaw's car, leaving both of them stranded naked in the streets. We later see both in a phone booth, telling Sandi to bring them clothes, while a crowd forms around them to ogle the naked Outlaw as she uses her hands to try and cover herself.

    Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/benjamin_franklin_earth_616_from_deadpool_vol_3_2_0001_jpg.jpg

Alter Ego: Benjamin "Ben" Franklin

Notable Aliases: Ghost Pervert, Pervy Old Dead Guy

Species: Ghost (in life, human)

First Appearance: Young Allies #8 (July 1943) note ; Deadpool Vol. 3 #2 (January 2013) note

In life, Benjamin Franklin was a Renaissance Man who helped form the United States of America, though never as a president, and he had many lady friends. He somehow used his knowledge of electricity to preserve his consciousness after the demise of his mortal body. As a ghost, he accompanies the necromancer Michael Hawthorne, and can be seen and heard by both Michael and Deadpool. For the real person, see Benjamin Franklin.

  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: He wielded the Eternity Mask, a magical artifact made from the essence of Eternity himself, at some point during the Revolutionary War. He also was a member of the Brotherhood of the Shield.
  • But Now I Must Go: After getting involved with the Doctor Strange Last Days of Magic crossover event, Franklin decides he's sick of being a ghost and moves on to the afterlife.
  • Call-Back: Doctor Strange still holds a grudge against Ben Franklin for sleeping with his wife in his own series back in the 1970s, though that was actually an evil wizard disguised as him.
  • Deader than Dead: When the final incursion hits and destroys Earth-616 and Earth-1610, Benjamin's ghost is destroyed. Of course, upon the multiverse's rebirth, he got better (so to speak).
  • Dirty Old Man: Being dead hasn't stopped Franklin's love for the ladies; he uses his ghost form to spy on attractive (usually older) women and people having sex. Over time, he's grown bored with just watching.
  • Historical Domain Character: He's the Founding Father himself, now having come back in spectral form.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Deadpool kills Michael as part of the plan to defeat Vetis, Franklin decides Deadpool has gone too far and can deal with Vetis solo.

    Blind Al

Blind Al

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blindal.png

Alter Ego: Althea (last name unknown)

Notable Aliases: Alfred

Species: Human

First Appearance: Deadpool Vol. 1 #1 (January 1997)

Blind Al: The hero gig might not be so bad, and besides, when was the last time you wasted someone and felt good about it? Maybe it's time for a change—
Deadpool: Uggg... Me, a nice guy? What do I do then? Change my name to kiddie pool and start a water park? I don't think so. They want some sort of 'super-schmoe' to usher in a new age... they ought to go to Kansas! You know my motto—
Blind Al: 'Go procreate in isolation'?
Deadpool: That's the one.
Deadpool vol. 1 #2

In the first Deadpool ongoing series, Blind Al is held captive by Deadpool in his San Francisco home, the Deadhut, for his own twisted reasons. Despite her imprisonment, she shares a playful bond with him when he isn't tormenting her. She tries to give him advice on being a good (or at least better) guy. When she's finally given freedom, she's not so fond of him.

  • The Atoner: It's implied that Al pushes Deadpool in the right direction because she wants to atone for unknown bad things she did in her past.
  • Cool Old Lady: She is in her 70s, matches wits with Deadpool, trades pranks of a more-or-less humorous nature, and makes sarcastic quips. She truly... sometimes... "wins." He loves it. Her hairstyle looks like soft-swirl ice cream.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Implied; She may or may not have done some nasty stuff when she was with British Intelligence as implied by her unspecified guilt, but what happened is unknown. At some point, Deadpool "rescued" her when he was hired to kill her and instead killed everyone around her.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Al is sarcastic and trades insults with Deadpool even as his captive, mocking him and her situation. It's such a constant that Deadpool knows he's really gone too far with her when she refuses to snark back at him in their usual dynamic, leading to finally freeing her.
  • Handicapped Badass: "Blind" isn't just a nickname; she is blind and usually covers her eyes with sunglasses. While not a traditional ass-kicking badass, she is psychologically resilient and keeps her mind sharp despite being imprisoned.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Al tends to provide some helpful insight in between tormenting her captor by doing things like telling him the salt is sugar (which Pool then proceeds to heap on his cereal, making for a funny spit-take).
  • Laxative Prank: On more than one past occasion, she put laxatives in Deadpool's food, such as an "ex-lax brownie", as payback for so-called pranks he pulled on her.
  • Mysterious Past: She has some kind of tie to British Intelligence, had some kind of involvement during World War II in Europe where she had some kind of romantic entanglement with Steve Rogers, plus Noodle Incidents at the Vatican and a time Deadpool saved her life... what happened, Al?!
  • Parental Substitute: Deadpool regards her as a motherly figure to him who steers him towards better decisions. In a less mother-son fashion, he keeps her prisoner and torments her. She fears he'll become worse without her calling him out and attempts to provide moral guidance.
  • Race Lift: The Deadpool films change Al from white to black.
  • Sole Survivor: Deadpool was hired to kill her in Zaire, but instead, he decided to kill everyone but her. Readers only learn about it through exposition.
  • Stockholm Syndrome: Blind Al once "escaped" Deadpool, made her way across the country, and thought she'd found safe harbor, only to have Deadpool teleport in and murder the person who would've protected her to teach her a lesson about escape attempts. After that, he doesn't even need locks to keep her imprisoned since her fear of what he'll do keeps her from trying. She develops an attachment and sense of responsibility towards him. Weasel tries to convince her to escape with him and she refuses. When Deadpool finally tells her she's free, she's reluctant to leave after so many years as his prisoner; she's not sure he really means it and she's afraid of what he'll become without her keeping him in check.

    Bob, Agent of Hydra

Bob, Agent of Hydra

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bobagentofhydra.png

Alter Ego: Bob Dobalina

Notable Aliases: Hydra Bob

Species: Human

First Appearance: Cable & Deadpool Vol. 1 #38 (May 2007)

Deadpool's pal, minion, or "pet" whom he meets at a Hydra base in Pakistan. Bob's wife pushed him into joining Hydra for steady work, but sadly for him, Hydra did not offer a dental plan. If cowardice could be a super ability, he'd have it. He happily submits to Deadpool mistreating him and ordering him around, except when he's betraying Deadpool.

  • Action Survivor: Despite having no superpowers, no regular powers, and no apparent abilities at all, he somehow survives all the dangerous missions Deadpool drags him on. His cowardice inspires hiding from threats instead of leaping into danger.
  • Butt-Monkey: Life loves to torment the poor guy. His wife doesn't like him much and berates him for not having steady work, pushing him to work for Hydra, where he meets Deadpool... You know you're in trouble when a psychotic mercenary declares you his pet and you seem okay with it.
  • Cowardly Lion: Deadpool considers Bob better at running away than anyone he's ever seen. Bob can become "invisible" when in danger— that is, hiding so thoroughly that he escapes harm.
  • Cowardly Sidekick: Deadpool drags him alongs on missions, ostensibly to help him out, despite no apparent abilities at all, with Bob somehow surviving it all, usually by running away. Deadpool doesn't actually needs him, of course, but he likes dragging him around.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He killed a Venom-symbiote possessed dinosaur single-handedly. Of course, this was while trying to run for his life.
  • Lawyer-Friendly Cameo: In the first Deadpool film, the film rights weren't in place to feature a Hydra-employed Bob, so they avoid that by having that version of Bob work for a different agency and share a history with Deadpool in Jacksonville.
  • Meaningful Name: His full name is eventually revealed to be "Bob Dobalina". As in "Mista Dobalina", a rap track about a poser who tries to act tough and suck up to real gangstas.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Whenever he's employed by Hydra, he's there for the steady paycheck, not the fascism. He shouts their catchphrases and slogans out of conditioned habit rather than fanaticism. It really disappoints him that they don't offer a full dental plan like A.I.M.

    Bullseye

Bullseye

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bullseye_61.jpg

Alter Ego: Lester (last name unknown)

Notable Aliases: Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter, Leonard, Daredevil, Hawkeye

Species: Human

First Appearance: Daredevil Vol. 1 #131 (March 1976) note ; Daredevil Vol. 1 #285 (October 1990) note ; Dark Avengers Vol. 1 #1 (March 2009) note

Bullseye and Deadpool sometimes work together on mercenary jobs, and sometimes work jobs against each other. They are both psychotic assassins who have a certain understanding and banter when they're together.

    Cable

Cable

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Cable_330_7062.jpg

Alter Ego: Nathan Christopher Charles Summers

Notable Aliases: Nathan Winters, Nathan Dayspring, Askani'son, Soldier X, Chosen One, Traveler, Nate, Priscilla

Species: Human mutant

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #201 (January 1986) note ; New Mutants Vol. 1 #86 (February 1990) note

A time-traveling, gun-loving, pouch-wearing, psychic-cyborg-messiah from the future who was born in the present to an X-Man and a clone. Deadpool debuted trying to kill Cable for a hit job, and they've been off-and-on ever since. Deadpool genuinely believes in Cable's change-the-world mission when Cable establishes Providence, but they clash over Deadpool's random acts of violence and support of the Superhuman Registration Act. Still, Cable turns to Deadpool for support in crises like the Messiah Complex.

    Dr. Betty

Dr. Betty

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/betty_swanson_earth_616_from_deadpool_corps_rank_and_foul_vol_1_1_0001.png

Alter Ego: Betty Swanson

Notable Aliases: "Dr. Hotness"

Species: Human

First Appearance: Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth #1 (September, 2009)

Betty was placed inside HYDRA by A.I.M. to spy on them. AIM then hired Deadpool to go in and retrieve her and the package she was assigned to steal from Hydra.

    Doctor Bong

Doctor Bong

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2468380_doctor_bong_edited_deadpool_491.jpg

Alter Ego: Lester Verde

Species: Human

First Appearance: Howard the Duck #15 (August, 1977)

A Mad Scientist supervillain, former archenemy of Howard the Duck, and sometimes Deadpool's psychologist. Deadpool finds him helpful in a rough patch, though Doctor Bong's idea of therapy is slightly... unorthodox. He's a super crook, so sometimes Deadpool fights him when he's helping out the good guys. His helmet is a bell that he can hit for powerful sonic attacks.

  • Affably Evil: Although he's an evil mad scientist, he also treats Deadpool nicely (when they aren't fighting) and makes genuine efforts to help Deadpool from his twisted perspective of what's therapeutic.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Dr. Bong has robotic arms, so Deadpool doesn't worry too much about chopping them off.
  • Freudian Excuse: Dr. Bong got bullied a lot as a kid and lost both his arms.
  • Mad Scientist: Dr. Bong possesses knowledge of advanced genetic engineering. Using this knowledge, he has transformed normal animals into sentient, semi-humanoid beings, created clones, and even transformed a sentient other-dimensional duck into a human being.
  • Mean Boss: He wasn't very pleasant to The Captain America clone he used in one of his schemes.
  • Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: The villain with the name "Doctor Bong" starts as a straight example for two decades of print; he's a mad scientist, "Bong" isn't his name, and "Doctor" was just a villainous title. But in the late 90s, he genuinely completed a graduate degree in psychology. If he used his real name, Doctor Bong could be called Dr. Lester Verde, PhD. His first patient during his internship was Deadpool, and he thought using violence to achieve mental clarity was a great way to treat Deadpool's hallucinations.
  • Rogues' Gallery Transplant: Dr. Bong is arguably Howard the Duck's archnemesis, but in recent years he seems to be slowly transferring to being part of Deadpool's supporting cast.

    Domino

Domino

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/domino_26.jpg

Alter Ego: Neena Thurman

Notable Aliases: Neena Beatrice Thurman, Beatrice Thurman, Samantha Wu, Tamara Winter, Elena Vladescu, Jessica Marie Costello, Luisa Mendoza, Christina Elizabeth Alioso, Priscilla Sutherland, Hope Eldridge

Species: Human Mutant

First Appearance: NewMutants Vol. 1 #98 (February 1991) note ; X-Force Vol. 1 #8 (March 1992) note ; X-Force Vol. 1 #11 (June 1992) note

The first "Domino" in New Mutants #98 wasn't Neena; she was a shapeshifting imposter, Deadpool's ex-girlfriend Vanessa Carlysle aka Copycat. The real Domino is a genetically-engineered freelancer and part-time X-Man who sometimes works with Deadpool when she isn't kicking his ass; either way, Cable is often involved.

    Emily Preston

Emily Preston

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/emilypreston.png

Alter Ego: Emily Preston

Notable Aliases: Agent Prescott, Deadpool, Deadpreston, Presbot

Species: Human (until death), then Life-Model Decoy

First Appearance: Deadpool Vol. 3 #1 (January 2013)

Agent Emily Preston of S.H.I.E.L.D. is assigned to Deadpool during the zombie presidents outbreak and gets killed by zombie President George Washington. Luckily, Michael the Necromancer uses his magic to save her spirit; unluckily, the nearest living body available was Deadpool's. After a long stint stuck together and much worrying from her husband and son, S.H.I.E.L.D. is able to place her mind into an android body that looks like her original. Deadpool trusts her so much that she becomes the adoptive mom to his daughter.

  • Back from the Dead: After dying shortly after her debut, her mind was stuck in Deadpool's body for many issues until she could be placed into a life-model decoy. During the events of Secret Empire, she finds out Deadpool killed Phil Coulson on the evil Captain America's orders and tries to kill Deadpool, so Deadpool "kills" her by dismantling and scattering her body parts. She's reassembled well after the event.
  • Bear Hug: She has a habit of giving Deadpool these while underestimating her robot strength.

  • Dying Declaration of Hate: As Deadpool destroys her life-model decoy body, she lets him know that he'll burn in Hell for everything he did. He doesn't disagree.
  • Fusion Dance: Preston involuntarily bunks in Deadpool's mind after zombie George Washington kills her body. Unlike Deadpool's fusion with Mad Cap, Deadpool and the readers know it's her inside his mind. She does this again with Warda's brain at the end of the 2099 arc to keep her in line.
  • Mama Bear: She was already protective of her own son, Jeff, and after locating Deadpool's daughter, she extends that love to the girl and won't let anything happen to her. She's not afraid to threaten Deadpool whenever his actions endanger anyone in her family.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: She gives Deadpool one of these when she finds out his role in kicking off Secret Empire. She knocks out a few of his teeth, and fractures his ribs and sternum to the point of bone fragments going into his lungs.
  • Parental Substitute: Since Ellie grew up never knowing her birth mother, Emily becomes the first mom she's had. She gives Ellie far more stability than Deadpool ever could.
  • "Reason You Suck" Speech: While delivering a beatdown to Deadpool, she tells him that he's a weak-minded puppet and can't really be trusted for killing Coulson without question.
  • Scary Black Woman: Preston is a tall, muscular black woman, and she's even stronger in her robot body. She shows how scary she can be when she beats the crap out of Deadpool, reveals she's thought up a way to permanently get rid of him, and plans to implement it.
  • Spirit Advisor: When her mind is stuck in Deadpool's body, she advises him and provides emotional support during an event he later calls the worst in his life. In the not-too-distant future, she still lingers and pesters Deadpool as the digital version of a spirit, and becomes advisor to another Deadpool.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: She loses her body during her first story arc, but S.H.I.E.L.D gives her a robot one in return that's even stronger than her original. How's that for health benefits!
  • We Used to Be Friends: She doesn't take kindly to Deadpool's actions at the start of Secret Empire; he's gone too far this time, so she beats Deadpool senseless and intends to kill him.

    Jeff the Baby Land Shark

Jeff the Baby Land Shark

Alter Ego: Jeffrey the First of His Name of the Former Staten Island

Notable Aliases: Jeff the Baby Land Shark

Species: Land Shark

First Appearance: West Coast Avengers Vol 3 #7 (March, 2019)

A baby Land Shark that was adopted by Gwenpool.

    Jelby

Jelby

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jelby.jpg

Nationality: Krakoan

Species: Human mutant

First Appearance: Deadpool (Vol. 8) #6 (August, 2020)

A mutant with a jam-based body. A former inhabinant of Monster Island, he decides to stay on Krakoa after helping Deadool sneak in.

    Michael the Necromancer

Michael the Necromancer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/michael203.jpg

Alter Ego: Michael Hawthorne

Notable Aliases: The Magic Guy from the Presidents Arc

Species: Human

First Appearance: Deadpool Vol. 3 #1 (January 2013)

A well-meaning but clueless Necromancer formally affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D. who thinks the only way to fix America's crisis is bringing every dead president back to life to fix it. It doesn't work out the way he hopes. Selling his soul to the demon Vetis for a powerful spellbook wasn't so smart. He's accompanied by the ghost of Benjamin Franklin.

  • Awesome, but Impractical: Michael used to belong to a S.H.I.E.L.D. magical program, but ultimately there wasn't any practical way a necromancer could be useful to the spy agency.
  • Back from the Dead: Deadpool kills Michael to send him to Hell so he can recruit Mephisto to help take down Vetis. As part of the deal with Mephisto, he's brought back to life after years in Hell.
  • Deal with the Devil: Michael sold his soul to the demon Vetis for a book of powerful magical spells, and Vetis is the same demon Deadpool screwed over several years before. To defeat Vetis, Michael makes another demonic deal with Mephisto, the current ruler of Hell.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: Michael probably should've realized using a magic book he got from a Deal with the Devil to resurrect dead presidents would end badly no matter what his intentions.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: During the Last Days of Magic crossover with Doctor Strange, Michael sacrifices himself in the battle with magic-hating robots to contain an explosion within a magical shield, saving the entire city.
  • Someone to Remember Him By: Michael dies and leaves behind his pregnant girlfriend, Daphne Plepler. They were interrupted by a magical crisis right as they were about to tell her parents about her pregnancy.
  • Spanner in the Works: By killing Michael and sending him to Hell prematurely, Deadpool ruins Vetis's Evil Plan to accumulate all the souls he's made deals with and use their power to overthrow Mephisto; in Hell, Michael notifies Mephisto of the plan.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Michael hopes all the undead presidents will unite to return America to its former glory; instead, every single undead president turns evil and starts killing everybody.

    Sandi Brandenberg

Sandi Brandenberg

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deadpoolsandi.png

Alter Ego: Sondra "Sandi" Brandenberg

Notable Aliases:

Species: Human

First Appearance: Taskmaster Vol. 1 #1 (April 2002)

Deadpool's secretary and good friend when he forms Deadpool, Inc., continuing into Agency X with Agent X (Alex Hayden), and ex-girlfriend of Taskmaster.

  • Action Girl: She usually doesn't fight, but when she does she can handle herself.
  • Domestic Abuse: In her first Deadpool story arc, her boyfriend physically abused her so severely that she was hospitalized. Deadpool and Taskmaster put an end to that... permanently.
  • Only Sane Man: When you work with Deadpool and his friends, you tend to be this.
  • Sexy Secretary: She's Deadpool's receptionist and secretary when he incorporates his company, she's competent at her job, and she's a total looker. She maintains a platonic relationship with Deadpool, whom she calls "Mr. Wilson," but she has a fling with Agent X while working for him.

    Sluggo

Alter Ego: Bernard Hoyster

Notable Aliases:

Species: Human

First Appearance: X-Force Vol. 1, #22

A former mamber of Weapon X with Deadpool and Garrison Kane.

    Spider-Man

Spider-Man

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amazing_spider_man_youre_hired_vol_1_1_textless.jpg

Alter Ego: Peter Benjamin Parker

Notable Aliases: Bombastic Bag-Man, Ricochet, Dusk, Prodigy, Hornet, Ben Reilly, Scarlet Spider, Captain Universe, Liar

Species: Human Mutate

First Appearance: Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962)

The original hard-luck, web-slinging, wall-crawling, and non-mutant superhero and the poster boy for Marvel. Spider-Man and Deadpool oppose or team-up with each other depending on the story, including Deadpool Vol. 1 #11 where Deadpool got sent to Peter's past and impersonated him for a little bit while Blind Al impersonated Aunt May. Spider-Man and Deadpool shared an ongoing series from 2016 to 2019.

    Taskmaster

Taskmaster

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tm_91.jpg

Alter Ego: Anthony "Tony" Masters

Notable Aliases: Tasky, Contingency T

Species: Human (Enhanced)

First Appearance: The Avengers Vol. 1 #195 (May 1980)

A mercenary with the power to copy skills by looking at them, but not Deadpool's Confusion Fu. Deadpool spars with Taskmaster when he needs to sharpen his abilities, works with him at times, and they try to kill each other at other times, but Taskmaster is a Consummate Professional so it's nothing personal (mostly). He's Sandi Brandenberg's ex-boyfriend.

    Weasel

Weasel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deadpoolweasel.png

Alter Ego: Jack Hammer

Aliases: The House/Wildcard, Penetraitor/Penetrator, Patient Zero

Species: Human

First Appearance: Cable Vol. 1 #3 (July 1993)

Weasel: [thought bubble] I think Deadpool's really got trouble this time, and it's my solemn duty as his weapon's man, his confidant, his bestest bud... to warn him, no matter what the danger, regardless of the cost. 'Cause if I don't...
Weasel: [dramatically standing to shout] ... I won't get paid!
Deadpool Vol. 1 #7

Super-genius and super-vengeful, Weasley is sometimes a friend and sometimes an enemy to Deadpool. When they're friendly, he makes Deadpool all kinds of weapons and gadgets for his mercenary work in exchange for a share of the profits, but he inevitably gets sick of how Deadpool mistreats him.

  • Depending on the Artist: He might be broad, square-jawed and big-nosed in one book and scrawny, pointy-chinned and narrow-nosed in another. He also appears to have quite a collection of glasses.
  • Extreme Doormat: No matter the abuse Deadpool puts him through, he keeps coming back.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Weasel makes all Deadpool's wonderful toys, such as his teleportation device and his image inducer. The teleporter can cross thousands of miles and the image inducer produces holographic disguises.
  • Geek Physiques: The guy needs to get out of his lab and get some exercise; he is scrawny with no muscle tone, a genius intellect, and stereotypically geeky interests like science fiction.
  • Only Sane Man: Weasel usually tries and talks sense into Deadpool, not that it ever works.
  • Progressively Prettier: Artist Joe Madureira gave Weasel buck teeth in The Circle Chase, but Weasel lost them by the time Ed McGuinness started drawing him for the first Deadpool ongoing series.
  • Punny Name:
    • Much like the Wicked Weasel, the man called "Weasel" is cunning, sneaky, treacherous, and a Dirty Coward.
    • His attempt at a hidden meaning in his Hydra name "Penetraitor" sounds like a porn name, which is appropriate for someone whose birth name is Jack Hammer.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In the first ongoing Deadpool series, Weasel doesn't realize how not funny Deadpool's violence is until he personally experiences it. Deadpool has a mental breakdown, throws Weasel and Blind Al into "The Box," and leaves them there. Weasel listens to Blind Al's story of how Deadpool really imprisons her with her own mind. Despite that, Al tries to convince Weasel that Deadpool isn't all bad, but Weasel quickly realizes this is the last straw for him. He fails to convince Blind Al to join him as he hastily packs and flees the country. He doesn't appear again until Deadpool's (temporary) funeral several years later.
Weasel: Who am I @#$%^&* kidding?! He threw me in a torture chamber! He's a monster.
  • The Starscream: He's nowhere near as scared of Deadpool as someone with his proximity and history should be, and Deadpool speculates in front of him that he might be one of these - but he's just too useful to kill.
  • With Friends Like These...: Don't let his geeky appearance fool you; over the years, he screws Deadpool over just as much as Deadpool screws him.
    • In Cable & Deadpool, Deadpool forgets Weasel at a Hydra base, leaving Weasel as their captive forced to design weapons for them until Deadpool remembers to rescue him.
    • Weasel works in Las Vegas as "The House", making great money providing mecha-armored security for casinos... until Deadpool shows up. In a convoluted plot to supposedly make Weasel look good, the two switch armors and roles as "The House" and "Wildcard", but Deadpool takes off with the casinos' money and leaves Weasel looking like the thief. Weasel becomes a fugitive until Deadpool imprisons him.
    • When intergalactic mercenary Macho Gomez seeks revenge on Deadpool, he releases Weasel from his imprisonment and they partner up to recruit other people who hold grudges against Deadpool. The group succeeds in temporarily killing Deadpool, but Macho Gomez kills Weasel.
    • In Spider-Man/Deadpool, Weasel strikes a deal with Mephisto while in Hell to corrupt Peter Parker's soul for Mephisto while seeking personal revenge on Deadpool. Under the alias "Patient Zero", he enlists Mysterio to create illusions framing Parker for illegal human experimentation, tricks Deadpool into believing those illusions and taking a hit job to kill Parker, poses as Parker to steal his company's proprietary information such as genetic splicing, and uses that knowledge plus Deadpool and Spider-Man's DNA to create a monster girl so psychotic that the morally-compromised Spider-Man nearly kills her.

Merc for Money

    Foolkiller

Foolkiller

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5490538_foolk2016003_cov.jpg

Alter Ego: Gregory P. Salinger

Notable Aliases: Deadpool, Ian Byrd

First Appearance: Omega the Unknown #9 (July, 1977)

Greg Salinger is the second and most well-known Foolkiller. He is a soldier and veteran of the Vietnam War. He was in excellent physical condition and a fairly decent hand-to-hand combatant though mostly self-trained. He was also an amateur poet and deemed "criminally insane" at one point. More recently, he joined Deadpool's Mercs for Money.

    Hit-Monkey

Hit-Monkey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hit_monkey_earth_616_from_deadpool_vol_2_61_0002.jpg

First Appearance: Hit-Monkey Vol. 1, #1 (April 2010)

A hitman who's also a monkey. He only takes hits on other mercs and criminals. He's also got healing powers so he keeps coming no matter how many times he gets put down.

  • Machete Mayhem: Instead of katanas, Masacre wields a pair of machetes.
  • Meaningful Name: "Masacre" is Spanish for massacre.
  • Panthera Awesome: He has a pet jaguar named Justicia.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/negasonic.jpg

Alter Ego: Eloise "Ellie" Olivia Phimister

Notable Aliases: NTW, Warhead, Neg

Species: Human mutant

Nationality: Genoshan

First Appearance: New X-Men #115 (August, 2001)

Ellie Phimister, better known as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, is a Marvel Comics character created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely.

Introduced as a telepathic precog native of the mutant nation Genosha under Emma Frost's tutelage, Negasonic was more or less created just to die for plot reasons — she foresaw a Sentinel attack on Genosha that would ultimately kill millions of people, herself included.

She later showed up, apparently alive, as part of a new Hellfire Club, but this was later revealed to be a projected image of herself by Emma. While she was ultimately revived for real during the Necrosha event, she'd ultimately meet her demise yet again...

... until the Marvel NOW! (2016) era, when she was —once again— seen alive under unknown circumstances, now considered a member of Deadpool's Mercs for Money and displaying an expanded skillset than previously established. While merely a telepath with precognitive abilities before, she somehow gained the power to warp reality, travel through time, and manipulate particle energy.

The character's sudden re-emergence in the comics (as well as her new appearance and powers) can be traced back to the 2016 Deadpool film, where she appears as a major supporting character. Portrayed there by Brianna Hildebrand. This version of the character was very popular among audiences, leading to her return in 2018's Deadpool 2.

  • Aloof Ally: She has her own reasons to hang out with Deadpool, but after two minor arcs about her she's relegated to the background texting on her phone and snarking about his behavior.
  • Atomic Superpower: When she came Back from the Dead after Genosha, she was retconned into a reality warper that draws on nuclear energy for power. Her solo arc in Marvel’s Voices (2022) establishes that it's a little more complicated than that - her power set is linked to her precognition and can shift when she makes choices based on her visions.
  • Bootstrap Paradox: Basically how her powers are described to work. She foresees a future where she has a new power, and should she choose to follow that prediction then she'll spontaneously develop the power she foresaw as a "backwards echo" to match that outcome.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Initially made part of Deadpool's cast in the comics to capitalize on her profile from the movie, but then slowly faded away in future arcs. However, she then got her own solo arc in Marvel’s Voices (2022) - this time with Deadpool as part of Ellie's supporting cast.
  • Death Is Cheap: She's been killed and resurrected twice since being introduced in 2001. Ellie's very aware of this, but maintains that even for immortals, clones and those with Resurrective Immortality, life always ends for real. And her precognition just reinforces that.
  • Discard and Draw: As of her Marvel’s Voices (2022) arc, her other powers are linked to her precognition. She sees her own possible futures, and when she makes a decision based on her visions, her powers adjust to reflect the future she chooses to pursue.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Negasonic was introduced as pale and very much favoring a Goth aesthetic, and still does to an extent. Her style has shifted to a very different take on it, though, a goth-punk style with short hair and torn fishnets rather than her original tradgoth look.
  • Identical Stranger: Without the goth and punk aesthetics she looks almost exactly like Kate Bishop.
  • Reality Warper: She gained this ability sometime after her second resurrection. The Discard and Draw aspect of her powers means she loses it again before her Marvel’s Voices (2022) arc, which she seems happy about.
Teenage Negasonic Warhead: I don't want reality-warping powers. Do you know what happens to people with reality-warping powers? To women with reality-warping powers?
  • Retcanon: After her popularity in the Deadpool movie, she's brought back a second time and visually retooled to align with her new appearance in it.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: She's more or less introduced to die in New X-Men, directly leading into the destruction of Genosha.
  • Seers: Before her powers changed, she was introduced as a Genoshan student with precognitive and telepathic powers. Her Marvel’s Voices (2022) arc established that most of her other powers are rooted in her precognition - it's limited to her own possible futures, and when she chooses a path based on her visions, her powers shift to reflect her future self.
  • Shout-Out: Morrison pulled her codename from the song of the same name by Monster Magnet.
  • Telepathy: Ellie's telepathy is one of her two permanent powers, alongside the precognition that fuels her other abilities.

    Carmelita Camacho

Carmelita Camacho

Alter Ego: Carmelita Camacho

Notable Aliases: Carm

Species: Human

First Appearance: Deadpool Vol. 3 #13 (September 2013)

Deadpool's baby mama whom he met in a retraux 70s issue, then only saw alive once more when she wanted child support. Unfortunately, their baby was kidnapped by Butler, and Carmelita was later murdered to further torment Deadpool. Her death is one of his biggest regrets.

  • Alliterative Name: Much like Deadpool himself, her name is alliterative: Carmelita Camacho.
  • Someone to Remember Him By: Deadpool finds Carmelita's body in a mass grave in North Korea. Knowing Carmelita previously gave birth to their daughter, he fears their child is likewise dead and can't bear to investigate what happened to Ellie. Preston takes up the mission and Preston finds Ellie alive. Deadpool is happy for that, but sad that Carmelita died because she was involved with him.
  • Spicy Latina: She's a frisky one. She was pissed that Deadpool didn't respond to any of her letters about child-support and is quick to tell him to shut his face when he says he hasn't gotten any mail. She lectures him about not doing his part as a parent and angrily pushes baby Ellie into his arms to introduce them. She does calm down and smile as she shows him how to hold Ellie, only to become furious again after he says Ellie cannot be his (because she's "too beautiful") and thus he won't help support her.

A mutant mercenary with shapeshifting powers and Wade Wilson's girlfriend pre-Weapon X.

  • Action Girl: Mutant merc.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Blue-skinned, and not any less sexy.
  • Back from the Dead: She was revealed to have recovered from her injuries in Deadpool Volume 5 issue 27.
  • Body Horror: When her powers went on the fritz.
  • Disposable Woman: Another female heroine fridged by Sabretooth who claimed the murder.
  • Expy: She's a mutant woman with blue skin who uses her shapeshifting powers to seduce people so she can gather their secrets and to infiltrate groups in the guise of a trusted ally... but she isn't Mystique.
  • Hooker with a Heart of Gold: When Vanessa and Wade met, she was a teenager selling sex to clients as a streetwalker in Boston; she had been kicked out of her home after her mutant shapeshifting power emerged. The time-traveling Zoe Culloden approached her as a Dirty Harriet in a ploy to learn more about Wade; Vanessa quickly sussed out Zoe had no idea what she was doing and provided her with survival tips. Vanessa genuinely fell in love with Wade, but Wade broke her heart by claiming he didn't feel the same after he got his cancer diagnosis.
  • Involuntary Shapeshifter: When Vanessa's shapeshifting power manifested in her teens, she couldn't control it. As an adult, she gradually adopts traits of people she's in extended contact with, including their genetic abilities. She starts losing control of her power until Weapon X augments it, making it more powerful than ever at the expense of her mind.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: After Weapon X supercharges her shapeshifting abilities, her sense of self and her memories rapidly destabilize with her many changes. She fixates on Deadpool, but has trouble maintaining any single form for long.
  • Mystical White Hair: Has white hair and is a shape-shifter.
  • Power Copying: Along with shapeshifting she is able to copy someones powers.
  • Shapeshifting Seducer: By shapeshifting into other forms, Copycat can fulfill someone's sexual fantasies, or she can pose as someone else to seduce a mark so they'll let their guard down.
  • Streetwalker: Before she found out she was a mutant.
  • Yandere: After Deadpool gets an answering machine message from Siryn inviting him to join her for an exhibit, Vanessa grows furiously jealous about the other woman Deadpool has feelings for. She disguises herself as Deadpool to meet and beat up Siryn.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Is a powerful and precise metamorph that can duplicate another being down to the cellular level. Because of this, she is able to replicate superhuman powers, abilities, and even mental imprints so closely that telepaths have trouble identifying her. Copycat simply requires knowledge to duplicate someone's appearance, but needs physical contact to duplicate anything else.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After she was revealed to have recovered, and to apparently keep track of Deadpool by pretending to be his favourite food truck vendor, back in 2014, she has not appeared in any other comic books.

Alter Ego: Inez Temple

Notable Aliases: Crazy Inez

Species: Human Mutant

First Appearance: Deadpool Vol. 1 #65 (May 2002)

A cowgirl-styled mercenary and a close ally of Deadpool and Agent X (Alex Hayden). Her mutant powers are superhuman strength, stamina, and durability, and she is talented with marksmanship and combat. In Deadpool's marriage special, Outlaw marries him and repeatedly shatters his pelvis throughout their honeymoon.

  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Formed one with her best friends Domino and Diamondback.
  • Berserk Button: Don't call her a 'mutie' or her childhood nickname of 'Crazy Inez'.
  • Cowgirl: Her motif includes a long blonde wig, cowgirl hat, and boots, stripperific tan leather, a pair of pistols, bronc riding, and her natural thick Texan accent.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She almost makes as many jokes as Wade, no matter who she's working with.
  • Exposed to the Elements: Even while working in the snow, all she does to cover herself is wear a scarf.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She is a gorgeous cowgirl-style merc whose outfit always bares her abdomen and sometimes she wears even less than that. In all fairness, she is able to get away with it due to her body being highly resilient to damage, making the outfit's impracticality a non-issue.
  • Stripperific: Her skimpy cowgirl outfits alternate between a short skirt or chaps with a bikini bottom, and she pairs this with low-cut crop tops.
  • Super-Strength: Inez has enough superhuman strength to punch straight through a human body or a brick wall, and she can pick up and toss a grown adult for a Fastball Special.

    Shiklah

Shiklah

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3604787_shiklah_hires_9c7e6.png

Alter Ego: Shiklah

Notable Aliases: Queen of the Undead, Queen of the Underworld, Mrs. Deadpool, Shiklah Wilson, Mrs. Wilson, Deadpool's Wife, Dracula's Wife

Species: Succubus

First Appearance: Deadpool: The Gauntlet Infinite Comic Vol. 1 #3 (March 2014)

An ancient royal succubus who was supposed to fulfill an arranged marriage to Dracula to unite vampires with other monsters. Dracula hired Deadpool to bring Shiklah to him; instead, Shiklah and Deadpool hooked up and married. Their marriage quickly became estranged.

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Shiklah isn't thrilled when Deadpool's moral inversion turns him into the pacifist Zenpool, or when he decides to avoid killing so much to be more heroic, or when Death "fixes" his appearance and makes him just another ugly human in Shiklah's eyes. She wants him to remain the scarred killer she married.
  • Color Motif: All her magic has purple as its principal color, her skin is light purple, and her monstrous true form is covered with purple scales.
  • Jealous Parent: Shiklah is technically Ellie's stepmother, and she's unhappy that Deadpool already has a daughter he loves. She's angry that Deadpool spends so much time with Ellie instead of starting a family with her, goes to protect Ellie instead of helping her fight for her monster kingdom, or otherwise chooses Ellie over Shiklah.
  • Marriage of Convenience: Deadpool and Shiklah quickly fall for each other, but they get married as a way of cock-blocking Dracula. That's why most people get married, right?
  • Ms. Fanservice: She is a succubus princess considered quite stunning (except in her One-Winged Angel mode). Her outfit is also equally as flattering, a skimpy black outfit resembling a bathing suit over transparent skull-patterned lace.
  • Really Gets Around: Yes, Wade knows he was not her first. And he certainly wasn't the last...
  • Screw Destiny: Instead of fulfilling a centuries-long arranged marriage contract with Dracula, she marries Deadpool and flaunts it in Dracula's face.
  • Ship Sinking: Shiklah and Deadpool's marital bliss quickly dissolves. Shiklah grows angry because Deadpool spends too much time away from her playing hero and visiting his daughter instead of being a killer and her consort, so she starts cheating on him with numerous other monsters. Deadpool is pissed, but can't completely blame her given his neglect of their marriage. He isn't going to stop being heroic and start constantly killing just for her, and he puts Ellie first. But the last straw for Shiklah is when Farcus, a centuries-old senile monster, is killed by some subway bystanders. She uses the power of the Sceptre of Manticore to mobilize armies from her kingdom and other places with the intention to annex Manhattan, and tops it off by accepting Dracula's marriage proposal and claiming she isn't limited to one spouse.
  • Vampiric Draining: As a succubus, she can absorb the life forces of those around her through a kiss or through sexual intercourse. Soon after meeting Deadpool, she makes him fall unconscious with a life-sucking kiss, but he quickly revives thanks to his Healing Factor.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Her human-seeming form isn't her true appearance, but one she chooses. In actuality, she is an enormous, scaly, horny— er, horned creature.

Alter Ego: Valentine Vuong

Notable Aliases: The Horned Emperor

Species: Human Mutant

First Appearance: Deadpool (Vol. 9) #1 (November, 2022)

A non-binary mutant with chemokinetic powers who is a high-ranking member of the Atelier assassins guild.

  • Batman Gambit: The events of volume 9 were one on their part. Realizing they wouldn't be able to kill the Horned Emperor, they manipulated things so that someone who could (Deadpool) would catch the attention of the Atelier and eventually be set against them. A few complications aside, it works.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: They admit that this is why they fell for Deadpool — he didn't treat them as a weapon or an assassin, just a normal person.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: They spent their entire life stuck in the Atelier's HQ, being groomed into becoming an assassin, especially once their mutation kicked in. As a result, they want nothing more than to escape the organization.
  • Demonic Possession: They end up possessed by the Horned Emperor after killing them, but manage to fight off their influence with Deadpool's help.
  • Femme Fatalons: Valentine Vuong has long syringes for fingernails that accentuate their nature as a master assassin specializing in chemical concoctions. And despite having needles for fingernails, they're not Cumbersome Claws: Valentine is still able to pick up and hold things, and even fire a pistol without problems.
  • Gem Tissue: The needles on their fingers are their actual nails, and their arms are later revealed to be made of a crystal or glass-like substance when one of them is shattered and broken off by Doc Ock.
  • Love at First Sight: Deadpool falls for Valentine the moment he sees them.
  • Playing with Syringes: Valentine is a (nominally, relative to Wade's dilemma) benevolent example; having syringes on their fingertips that are later said to be their nails. Their power is to synthesize any chemical they want to inject, which has obvious applications to their line of work, but they use them to help Wade manage the symbiote gestating within him with tranquilizers.
  • The Spook: The only information to be found on Valentine is all contradictory.

Alter Ego: Eleanor Wilson, Eleanor Utler, Eleanor Preston

Notable Aliases: Ellie-Belly

Species: Human Mutant

First Appearance: Deadpool Vol. 3 #19 (January 2014) note ; Deadpool Vol. 3 #31 (September 2014) note

Deadpool's darling daughter by Carmelita Camacho. He likes to keep her away from his more dangerous adventures... which is all of them. She's adopted into the Preston family.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Deadpool calls her his little Ellie-Belly.
  • Calling Parents by Their Name: She used to call Deadpool "Daddy" and he loved it, but then she tells him her therapist said she shouldn't consider him a father figure and she starts addressing him by name. After that, she alternates between "Wade" and "Dad".
  • Comic-Book Time: She was conceived during a story set during the 1970s, was a newborn baby in a 1990s-style story, and is only a small child in the 2010s.
  • Daddy's Girl: Ellie quickly becomes Deadpool's biggest fan with Deadpool merchandise all over her bedroom, and she's overjoyed every time she gets to spend time with him. Unfortunately for Deadpool, this doesn't last.
  • Depending on the Artist: An extreme example. Her appearance is drastically different every time she's shown. She's bi-racial, but sometimes will be drawn as more African American. Her mom, Carmelita was a Latina -which contains white, black, and mixed racial origins. Anyhow, Ellie undergoes a good few changes in look. Her maternal grandmother, Ms. Camacho, also gets whitewashed. As we see, she's introduced as a brown-skinned Latina woman. But she didn't stay that way.
  • Disappeared Dad: Deadpool started out as this to her; her mother gave birth to her without Deadpool knowing she'd ever been pregnant, and he rejected the idea that he could have a child so beautiful. She didn't meet Deadpool or know he was her father for several years.
  • Evil Parents Want Good Kids: Deadpool's moral compass wavers, but he wants to teach Ellie to be better than he is. During Secret Empire, she gets into a lot of fights with bullies at her new school and he wishes she'd tell a teacher instead. In the 2099 timeline, she's an ass-kicking octogenarian who admits to never killing anyone. Deadpool is so proud.
  • For Your Own Good: During Secret Empire, Deadpool takes her away from her adopted family to keep a closer eye on her even though she clearly doesn't want to leave them to go with him. Knowing she's a mutant and knowing what the new regime thinks about mutants, he doesn't want to take any chances.
  • Future Badass: In the 2099 timeline, she grows up to become an awesome ass-kicking hero who takes on the "Deadpool" name.
  • Happily Adopted: The circumstances of her two adoptions are unhappy, but the adoptive families aren't. After Butler used false pretenses to kidnap her, he gave her to his brother, Joshua Utler, who protected her from his brother and raised her for several years as her adopted dad. Emily Preston tracks her down after Butler kills Carmelita, but Joshua is killed in front of Ellie. Emily promptly adopts her and she gains another adopted dad, a brother, and the first mom she can remember. Deadpool buys a neighboring house so he can visit frequently and keep an eye on the Preston family.
  • Healing Factor: Sometime in her teens, her mutant ability will manifest and give her a powerful healing ability, but it takes a lot of physical trauma to get it to work.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: Like her father, she has no problem fighting; at her private school in Secret Empire, she fights other kids and this gets her expelled.
  • Resurrective Immortality: How her Healing Factor works. Rather than regrowing limbs and lost skin over time like Deadpool, her mutant ability triggers whenever she'd die, and she emerges with her memories intact but physically de-aged to when her X-gene first triggered. This is first depicted in the 2099 storyline when Warda murders her with liquid napalm and forces Deadpool to watch.
  • The Runaway: At the end of Secret Empire, Deadpool tells Ellie to stay in their apartment, but she runs away to the Prestons after she runs out of food while Deadpool's unconscious and trapped in rubble for three days.

Alter Ego: Deadpool (2099)

Notable Aliases:

Species: Half-human, half-demon

First Appearance: Deadpool Vol. 4 #6 (March 2016)

In the Marvel 2099 Bad Future timeline, she's the daughter of Deadpool and Shiklah, making her a half-human, half-demon who's a half-sister to Ellie. Shiklah hid her existence from Deadpool. She has a few family issues.

  • Alliterative Name: 'W's just like her father.
  • Archnemesis Dad: She sees Deadpool as this, blaming him for her not-so-great looks and because she thinks he favored Ellie and Preston as his family over her and Shiklah. She locks him up with endless C-SPAN.
  • Blank White Eyes: Her eyes have no irises or pupils.
  • Facial Markings: Has some in her chin and around her eyes.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Warda is a hybrid with a human father and a succubus mother, giving her an unusual appearance and a healing factor.
  • Healing Factor: Although Deadpool's healing factor isn't in his DNA, Warda has inherited it anyway and she mistakenly believes she's the only daughter with this power.
  • Heel–Face Turn: A glimpse into the future shows that Preston & Wade were able to get through to her. Now they're all a family and Warda even gives him & Ellie a ride on her Dragon.
  • Parental Favoritism: She has a big chip on her shoulder about Deadpool supposedly favoring Ellie while ignoring her, not realizing that he didn't know Warda existed due to Shiklah keeping it a secret from him.
  • Parental Sexuality Squick: Warda wonders what Shiklah ever saw in Deadpool, and he mentions he used to be called the Merc with a Mouth and he knew how to use it. Warda is disgusted and calls him a gross old man.
