Mukohda's Party

    General

General

  • Big Eater: Another trait that unites Mukohda's familiars besides their thirst for battle is their genuinely massive appetite. Fel alone (whom Mukohda met because Fel smelled some of his cooking and demanded a good piece of it) can go through several kilos of meat and still be hungry, especially after a particularly spirited hunting trip.
  • Blood Knight: Every one of Mukohda's familiars qualifies as one. Although it's played a little differently than usual, as while the familiars do enjoy the thrill of battle, they also do it out of practicality as they're both stronger and faster than Mukohda, and if he was occupied with hunting, he wouldn't have time to cook for them. In particular, Fel and Dora seem to fight in order to stay active, while Sui fights in order to better understand its new, rapidly expanding abilities.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: They could easily take down countries if they wanted to, and Fel often mentions doing it if anyone comes after them.
  • Comically Invincible Hero: Initially this had only applied to Fel, who couldn't even consider A-ranked monsters to be light exercise. Eventually, Sui and Dora joined Fel, leading Mukohda to call the three of them the Invincible Trio for their ability to easily take down a red dragon, who are seen as country destroying threats. And all on a whim too!. Mukohda eventually joins them once he's given the 'Perfect Defense' skill in volume 3.
  • Family of Choice: What the party eventually becomes.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: While Mukohda's familiars don't fit as neatly as most other fantasy story casts, the familiars do certainly have a distinct style of combat to each of them.
    • Fel and Gon are the fighters, as they have the highest stats in the entire party and are usually the first to physically engage an enemy.
    • Sui is the mage, as despite having a pretty balanced stat spread, its gelatinous body makes physical attacks a terrible idea. Instead, Sui typically hangs back and snipes its enemies with long-range skills and spells.
    • Dora is the thief, with the Fragile Speedster build to match.
  • Humble Goal: No one in the party has any kind of grandiose goal or ambition they wish to realize. They are all happy with simply exploring the world and enjoying the sights along the way. While Mukohda's familiars are eager to look for any chance to fight strong opponents, they mostly do this as either an extension of natural hunting instincts, Mukohda explicitly telling Fel that if he wants meat he will have to get it himself, or as a way to stay active.
  • Immortal Immaturity: Played for laughs. Sui, who is literally days old, is significantly more mature and polite than Fel and Dora, who are a thousand and a hundred years old respectively. The two frequently demand more food from Mukohda and can be petulant with him. Fel and Dora are also prone to tooting their own horns when they easily finish off some powerful monsters and demand praise from Mukohda.
  • Mayfly–December Friendship: As Dora points out, part of the reason the monsters are so quick to form a contract of servitude with Mukohda just for food is that in the big picture, a few decades isn't all that much of their life to give up for a benefit as good as great food every day in that time. This gets subverted when Demiurge extends Mukohda's lifespan which the familiars take with glee as this means they'll get to enjoy his company and cooking for a long time to come.
Fel: There would be no loss in serving a human for that long.
Dora: Yeah, exactly! To those with lifespans as long as ours, something like this actually livens things up!
  • Mundane Utility: One way or another, Mukohda will always come up with some totally mundane use for his party's awesome skills and powers. Examples include using Sui's water magic to fill a bath or having Fel further inspect an unknown item or target with his higher Appraisal skill, if Mukohda's own Appraisal doesn't suffice.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Played for laughs. But expect this to be the familiars' answer to any problem they come across, since thanks to their overwhelming powers, not much can really stand in their way.
  • Obsessed with Food: All of Mukohda's familiars follow him partly because of his cooking. The only thing that takes priority over their bloodlust is their hunger, and preference of meat, to the point where Mukohda can use it as a form of Cool and Unusual Punishment, by reducing their portion of meat, removing it entirely, or even giving them no dinner at all, if they misbehave badly enough. Mukohda even remarks on how they've all become big foodies; not just eating the food but also remarking on and appreciating all the flavors and subtleties of the ingredients used.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Mukohda's familiars all have the power to easily devastate flocks of Wyverns that would leave half the fighting force of a city dead, and Fel is rumoured to have singlehandedly destroyed a country in the past. If Mukohda had been of a less gentle disposition, it would not have been out of the question that he could take over the continent with the help of his familiars.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: It would be pretty hard to top a group consisting of a millennium-old legendary beast, a century-old dragon the size of a man's head, an adorable and intelligent slime, and a 3000-year old ancient dragon, who all made the decision to bind themselves to a human from another world, just because he happens to be an awesome cook.
  • Stunned Silence: Generally the reaction the group elicit from others, especially the guild-masters and guild-butchers as Mukohda brings increasingly rare and dangerous monsters in for break-down and processing without any real idea of how hard-won some of them are for typical adventurers without overpowered familiars like him.
    • Inverted when the party met Elrand, Dolan's guildmaster, whose enthusiastic behavior and dragon obsession threw them for a loop considering the kind of position he holds.
  • Telepathy:
    • How Mukohda communicates with Dora and Sui due to their biology making human speech impossible, and also if he wants to discreetly speak with the whole party. It is noted however that such a thing was highly unusual, as typical Tamers can only communicate with their familiars through verbal commands and never through a mutual connection. The given explanation is that taming normally amounts to enslaving monsters, while Mukohda's familiars all chose to accompany him of their own free will.
    • Mukohda's familiars are also able to discreetly communicate with each other telepathically when discussing things that they would prefer Mukohda and the others not overhearing.

Victim From Another World

Our main protagonist. Having been accidentally abducted due to a Hero Summoning Ritual, Mukohda must use his wits and skills to survive and explore this new fantasy setting he has found himself in.

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: The mithril+ blade Sui made for Mukohda on his request. It can easily slice apart monsters like trolls and minotaurs.
    • He eventually ends up having Sui make a meat grinder for him with the same material. He considers making a mithril cooking knife, but decides against it as that could effortlessly slice off his fingers, and would destroy any cutting board.
    • One of the magic swords he gets from Gon, Gram, he uses against trees, and also in his confrontation with the Church of Rubinov's main base.
  • Artifact of Doom: After the party defeats the emperor lich boss on the 26th floor of the Aveling dungeon, Mukohda finds its crown as one of the boss drops. Elrand informs him that the crown can grant a dramatic increase to the user's magic when worn, however prolonged exposure will eventually turn the person into a lich under the crown's control. Mukohda wisely decides to seal the crown away in his item box.
  • Achievements in Ignorance:
    • Mukohda was able to tame a Fenrir using his cooking skills, an ancient legendary beast with the power to flatten whole countries.
    • Mukohda is not only able to talk back to a Fenrir, but is able to make Fel back down with some of his more unreasonable requests, something no other human would even think of doing.
    • He doesn't just do this to Fel, but also does it with the gods and goddesses when they start demanding too many things. Not even Fel would dream of talking back to the gods, let alone successfully talking them down, and keeping them in line.
    • Being able to talk to the gods is both highly uncommon, and an incredible privilege. Mukohda is more or less called by them on the regular once a week to once a month.
    • He is able to make the bishop of the Church of Rubanov back down (albeit with his familiars helping threaten them), when they'd tried to extort a donation from him by force.
    • Pixie Dragons avoid humans, and are incredibly rare, with their last sighting having been more than 200 years ago. Mukohda not only finds one, but also makes it his familiar with his cooking.
    • Ancient Dragons are far more powerful, and even rarer. Mukohda ends up making a familiar of one of them as well, surprising even the God of Creation, who'd expected him to defeat the dragon.
  • Awesome, but Impractical:
    • Finds a legendary sword at the bottom of a dungeon (that would be the fifth such sword in history), made of adamantium, but Mukohda considers the sword to draw too much attention if he were to use it, as it is valued as being equal to a national treasure, causing no end of headaches, and as such, he leaves it hidden in his item box.
    • The Mithril frying pan. It's extremely lightweight, non-stick, and very tough. However, mithril does not conduct heat, a useful property for weapons and armour, but not for a frying pan.
    • For most people, fresh food when adventuring. Carrying around a stove usually means carrying around an expensive, heavy piece of equipment that would otherwise be better taking up with vital rations, and fresh ingredients would ordinarily spoil in the time it took to challenge a dungeon. Mukohda's item box renders that a non-issue for him.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Likely due to his more mature mindset and greater exposure to light novels and their associated tropes, Mukohda was able to deduce the intentions of those who had summoned him did not line up with their claims, unlike the three students who were too enraptured by the wonders of the fantasy world to notice that their summoners had sinister ulterior motives.
  • Bag of Holding: Mudoka and co. find two such items during their dungeon crawl. They sell the smaller size one and keep the medium-sized one for Fel to collect his catch when he goes out hunting as Mudoka has little use for them himself in comparison to his vastly superior Item Box.
    • He later sells the Magic Bag (Medium) since the Final Boss of the Aveling dungeon dropped the superior Magic Bag (Extra-Large) which had the carrying capacity of 300 large bags.
  • Bargain with Heaven: Mukohda is granted various blessings from the gods in exchange for buying them items from our world using his skill. As he is a human, the gods can only give him minor versions of their full blessings, but even those prove to be very beneficial. These blessings not only grant him access to the respective god's elemental magics, but also lower mana consumption, enhance his spells, and grant him status ailment immunity. His final blessing from Demiurge, the Creator, bestows him with a vastly extended lifespan along with the usual benefits.
    • The gods do note that he's a rather unique case of a human being given three blessings in such a short amount of time, while even the most legendary heroes in the past have only had two at most in the manga, and in the anime adaptation it's entirely unheard of.
  • Bathtub Bonding: Once he acquries a bathtub, he freely allows any of his familiars that wish to bathe with him to do so, emphasizing the close familial bond he has with them.
  • The Beastmaster: His official title at the Adventurer's Guild and the cover he goes with in order to avoid unnecessary attention.
  • Beergasm: Unsurprisingly for a Japanese man of about 30, he sure does love his beer along with his meals.
  • Blow You Away: Downplayed. While Mukohda can learn wind magic, it is determined that he has no affinity for it, even with Ninrir's blessing. Ninrir's blessing would only make it a little easier for him to learn wind magic, and even then, the results wouldn't be anywhere as impressive as the elements he does have an affinity for, meaning it only really grants him the other passive benefits of a small blessing.
  • Boring, but Practical:
    • His mithril short sword. While it's forged from an incredibly rare mineral, it doesn't really stand out much and has no special effects. Regardless, it does an excellent job as a sword, slicing apart any monster below A-rank effortlessly.
    • Mukohda's cooking abilities are far from that of professional chefs, and are otherwise mundane, but they have helped him net some powerful familiars.
    • His "Online Supermarket" skill is not as flashy as skills that might be devoted to combat, but they let him access condiments of a better quality than existed in the other world, and can act as a reliable supply of food, if his item box ever runs empty, or he doesn't have the energy to cook.
  • Cast from Money: When Mukohda uses "Online Supermarket," once he gets whatever he wants ordered assembled to be delivered to him, he must then pay for it with "real money"—insert coins into a square that appears (the magic version of a "coin slot") until the balance he owes is paid. Once it's all paid for, the order materializes in front of him. When the Gods and Goddesses need offerings that start getting pricey, he has to put them on a budget to keep their "appetites" from costing too much.
  • Cast from Stamina: The mana he uses for Stone Bullet and Fireball runs out in the battle with the Kobolds, and he is unconscious after using it without Fel giving him anything to replenish it (there have been no mana potions or other mana-restoring items seen).
    • Once Kisharle and Agni give him their blessings (since they are the Goddesses of Earth and Fire, which Mukohda has affinity for), the mana cost for the spells drops while the power of the spells increase, so he doesn't run out of mana as fast without making bigger impacts.
  • Celibate Hero: Downplayed. Mukohda's constant travels and spirit for adventure make it difficult for him to settle down, much less consider dating. Not that he doesn't wish for a chance at romance if possible.
  • Character Narrator: He's the main narrator for the novels, with the anime and manga dropping narration and taking an outside perspective.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: When Fel and Gon make him unknowingly enter a forbidden area for hunting and get him in trouble with the guildmaster, he decides to take his revenge on the two by making vegetarian dishes for the following meals until they both apologize to him.
  • Creepy Cockroach: His greatest fear, which made floor 17 of the Aveling dungeon hell for him as it was filled with nothing but giant roaches. Understandably, he felt no remorse for them when Fel and co. slaughtered the entire floor's population, and in fact, openly encouraged his familiars to completely annihilate every roach. Mukohda even initially refused to even touch their drops until he had put on a thick pair of gloves.
  • Didn't Think This Through: After killing a giant monster-level "white fish" off of Bereland, Mukohda is ready to use its bones for soup stock from old habits. Marcus, the Adventurer's Guild leader, points out the bones could be better used for making durable weapons and decorations for the seacoast town instead, and give Mukohda more cash by selling the bones to the Guild in order to do so. (However, this is only in the light novel. In the manga, Mukohda admits he only got the Kraken, which is about the size of a high-rise, and the sea serpent; the "white fish" was killed by Sui but they weren't able to get it into the Item Box in time. Marcus then muses the fish's corpse will feed the other fish and bring back more fish to the area.)
  • Dishing Out Dirt: An element he has an affinity for. While he could only shoot a pebble initially, thanks to Kisharle's blessing, Mukohda's pebble became sharpened rock shards that he could either rapidly fire or concentrate into a shot-gun blast.
  • Dragon Tamer: Mukohda has managed to recruit two dragons (Dora and Gon) on his team thanks to his cooking.
  • Easy Logistics: His "Item Box" allows him to store cooking equipment, monster corpses and drops, as well as fresh ingredients for when he has to cook great food fresh for Fel and the others, among other things. This saves him and his familiars from running back to the surface often for rations while on a dungeon dive. Likewise "Internet Supermarket/Online Grocery" can be used if he needs items from Japan to help him, such as weed-killer, insect-killer and alcohol to weaponize in battle.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Says this almost word for word when he examines the 'Double Experience Gain' skill Vahagn and Hephaestus gave him without his consent.
  • Experience Booster: It's implied that Earth food can give exp bonuses to their consumers, being particularly effective for lower leveled individuals, like Sui. Played straight later on when Hephaestus and Vahagn covertly granted Mukohda the skill "Double Experience" in order to expedite his growth in hopes to add a liquor store as Online Supermarket's next tenant. Mukohda was not amused when he found out, but only because they forced something onto him without telling him.
  • First-Name Basis: One of his primary survival tactics is to keep anyone from finding out he's an otherworld adventurer, upon observing that last names appear to be very uncommon in this world, that includes only going by his first name.
  • Fluffy Tamer: All of his familiars are perfectly capable of individually leveling an entire country or at the very least, destroying a city if they wanted to, but Mukohda treats them as if they were just his kids.
  • Genre Savvy: Mukohda assumes that the Kingdom of Reijseger were going to conscript their summoned Heroes into some kind of war/territory expansion effort going by how their current situation contradicts their supposed blights with the demonfolks. His asking around once he's let go only confirms his suspicions. He is absolutely right. Reijseger is in a situation of their own making and were planning to use the summoned Heroes as weapons of war against the demon kingdom from the beginning; with a liberal helping of mind control to ensure the kids agree with their cause.
  • Giver of Lame Names: He is noted to have a terrible naming sense. So far he has named a Fenrir "Fel", a Slime "Sui", a pixie dragon "Dora-chan" and an ancient dragon "Old Man Gon" respectivelynote . Both dragons were not impressed by the names that he'd given him, with Dora becoming depressed by the prospect of being stuck with that name. His first attempt at a name for Fel was "Pochi" (the Japanese equivalent of "Fido" or "Spot").
  • Hammerspace: As he was summoned to the new world, the process also granted him the exact same Item Box skill as the Heroes. The skill allows Mukohda to store and preserve anything he collects, regardless of size.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Mukohda initially bought a short sword for self-defense, losing it after his first dungeon venture. After Sui was given Hephaestus' blessing, Mukohda gave Sui his mithril ores in order for it to forge him a mithril short sword. Then he finds the Caladbolg in the Dolan dungeons after the party defeats the behemoth, which he, unfortunately, had to tuck away in his Item Box due to the fact that he couldn't properly wield it and it would have attracted even more unwanted attention.
  • Hour of Power: The Earth food and ingredients that Mukohda buys using his Online Supermarket buffs, or in the case of liquors debuffs, specific stats for a wide range of duration, usually lasting for several minutes. It's implied that cooking the ingredients will amplify their effects and extend the duration of the buffs.
    • His Holy Seal can provide anyone and anything with a potent anti-undead buff for about a whole day, which is significantly better then the Rubanov Church's cheap replica seals that not only damage the weapon they bless but also only last a paltry 10 hits before expiring.
  • Humble Goal: Mukohda's only goal in the new world is to see all its sights and enjoy its cuisines.
  • Humble Hero: Mukohda tries very hard to downplay or hide his exploits in an attempt to seem like a normal adventurernote , as he feels that it's one of the best ways to avoid unnecessary attention. Not that it works all that well, considering his familiars continue racking up the fame regardless.
  • Hungry Weapon: Finds a Vampire Knife in the Aveling dungeon as a boss drop. He was initially concerned with the fact that the knife was made with vampire bones, thus it is constantly thirsty for blood, until Fel points out that this quality would make the knife an excellent way to drain blood from their catch. It works like a charm and the knife quickly becomes one of Mukohda's favorite tools for when he has to butcher game on his own.
  • The Immune: Thanks to the gods' divine blessings, Mukohda, like Fel, is immune to all mortal diseases and afflictions, even things that would otherwise cause instant death. He will never get sick again for as long as he lives, even from things like tooth decay or bad food. However, the blessings do not work on hangovers caused by alcohol from another world.
  • Infinity +1 Sword: The Caladbolg, a legendary blade he received as a rare reward for defeating the last boss of the Dolan Dungeons. Not only is it imbued with lightning magic, it's also made entirely of adamantium, making it even stronger and more durable than Mukohda's mithril+ sword. Elrand estimates that the sword is worth the value of an entire country.
    • He does get three more magic swords from Gon's hoard, and one, Gram, he uses to cut down trees. In his confrontation with the Church of Rubinov, he uses Gram against a "magic sword" the Church claimed it had, but their sword breaks.
  • It's Personal: Once the Church of Rubinov tries to extort Mukohda at his home with armed goons, Mukohda realizes Demiurge might need him to take the Church down once and for all. Given the Bishop gave the order to kill everyone, that's nothing to take lightly.
  • Limited Wardrobe: For quite some time the single set of clothing he bought when he first arrived were quite literally the only clothes he owned. By the time he does get a chance to buy more clothes, he's gotten so comfortable with his outfit he ends up just buying more sets of clothes that look just like it, opting to instead splurge on luxiorious pyjamas instead.
  • Logical Weakness: Just because Mukohda has the skill Perfect Defense, that doesn't mean he can't be pushed around by the inertia and bulk of larger monsters. Likewise, even Fel's Barrier couldn't withstand the much greater power of an even bigger monster (like Gon before he joined Mukohda; he knew if Gon got him in his Great Dragon form, Mukohda would probably die).
    • The skill also doesn't protect against friendly fire so Mukohda still needs to stay out of range when Fel and the others fire out Area of Effect spells.
  • Long-Lived: What he will be given time. Demiurge granted Mukohda a lifespan equivalent to that of a long-lived high elf, approximately 1,500 years.
  • Loser Protagonist: How he starts out. Back in Japan, Mukohda mostly worked part-time jobs at various restaurants and spent his days off idly reading light novels or being bothered by his beauty-obsessed older sister. After being summoned to another world, instead of gaining the title of "Hero", he ends up being a "Victim/Peasant of Another World", with weak magic, and poor stats.
  • Lovable Coward: Has shades of this and is a self-admitted coward, but assurance from Fel and the gods does help him grow out of this on his adventures. Although he would prefer to avoid fighting if another option was available. When having to choose between an easy "meat dungeon" where choice meats not available from other prey is available, and Brixt, a much more difficult dungeon, he chooses the "meat dungeon" mostly to get more meat to cook for everyone with (and it's the "lesser of two evils").
  • Magikarp Power: Played straight with skills like Appraisal and spells, which were initially underwhelming, giving only the names of targets and weak output respectively. Downplayed with Online Supermarket, as the skill already had an expansive selection to choose from even when Mukohda was only at level one, which was enough to satisfy all six gods with whatever they wanted. Then Mukohda reached level twenty and learned the skill can grow too.
  • Mundane Utility: Honestly, the best use of his Online Supermarket skill is this as expected, since as long as he has the money, it can provide all of life's daily necessities and comfort on demand. Mukohda also finds more utilitarian uses for his powers and those of his familiars over the course of the series.
    • Eventually he makes a knife, cups, dishware, and a meat grinder from mithril for long-term practical use. He did consider making some armor with the rare mineral, but Fel reminds him that the armour would still be weaker than the barrier that Fel can put around him.
    • His Item Box skill is essentially an infinite storage refrigerator that allows him to preserve all of his familiars' kills for later processing and cooking, as well as cooking ingredients/pre-cooked food. It was also a garbage disposal before Sui came along. It's also a "safe/bank" for him to keep all his coins from sales/rewards and drops/items he couldn't sell yet (because he hadn't found a buyer for them yet, or they're too valuable/expensive to afford).
    • After getting a hang of his earth magic, Mukohda uses his Earth Wall spell to construct basic shelters, for privacy when bathing or sleeping, and to make a decent impromptu table.
    • He also uses his fire magic to heat his baths.
    • When he acquires a Vampire Knife from the Aveling dungeon that drains the blood from what it cuts into and Fel points said quality's utility, he uses it to drain the blood from any catches to prepare it for butchering.
  • New Life in Another World Bonus:
    • Initially parodied, as besides slightly above-average stats and the Item Box and Appraisal skill, Mukohda's only other unique skill is his Online Supermarket. Compared to the 3 kids who got ultra-high stats along with a variety of powerful and rare skills, Mukohda was seemingly screwed over. The keyword here is seemingly. Once Mukohhda had made it out of the Kingdom of Reijseger, he quickly discovers the true potential of what Online Supermarket can do: Not only does the food he buys with the skill have Status Buff effects, but stuff like salt and soap that he buys in order to resell are all considered of the highest quality in the new world. The salt and pepper alone cost about 5 coppers each and the Merchant Guildmaster is willing to pay 4 Gold and 10 Gold respectively as a low ball price. This is a net gain of nearly 1,000% and 2,000% respectively. After he gets soap, shampoo and conditioner, he repackages this into units he could sell through Lambert and Marie.
    • Even the basic Item Box and Appraisal turn out to be huge luxuries in the setting, with only about 1 in 1000 people possesing even a small Item Box and Appraisal as an inherent skill being completely exclusive to Otherworld Adventurers; magic artifacts capable of casting Appraisal being held only by guilds and kings.
    • His Online Supermarket also indirectly leads to him gaining more traditional benefits, aka cheat skills, when the gods take notice of him. They grant him and his familiars abilities ranging from status condition immunity to outright invulnerability in order to safeguard their only means to get Earth stuff.
  • Nice Guy:
    • When he realizes his Appraisal skill can identify trapped chests and his blessings/familiars make him immune to the dangers of the traps, he spends all of his time in the treasure floor of the Dolan Dungeon opening all the trapped chests solely to disarm them for the sake of any adventurers that come after them.
    • Mukohda saves 2 little kids, Daniel and Iris, from a band of orcs after his adventure in the Dolan dungeons who were desperately trying to reach the capital in order to find someone to cure their deathly ill mother. Despite having just met the kids, Mukohda listened to their plight, fed them, and secretly had Sui mix up a panacea guaranteed to cure their mother, before taking them home and giving them the medicine without asking for much in return besides the orcs he had killed to protect them.
    • In the volume 5 side story, "Everyone Needs Hope", Mukohda agrees to help Mauritz, a fellow adventurer and wolf beastman, with finding a rare gecko that could be made into a fertility drug in order to aid Mauritz and his wife in having another child. Not only does Mukohda have Sui speed him and Maurtiz to the forest in order to maximize the amount for their search, but he also has Fel discreetly put a barrier around Maurtiz in case.
    • Later, after Mukohda buys the "slave contracts" of two families to help him with his soap/shampoo and magical hair tonic businesses with Lambert, he notices the mother of one of the families has an illness that didn't heal properly earlier (and her family got into debt trying to treat it), so he uses one of Sui's Elixirs to heal her. Two adventuring twins who know Elixirs are expensive wonder why a slave would be healed with that, but it could be argued Mukohda was "doing the right thing" or more sarcastically "improving his investment in human capital" by healing her.
    • Mukohda later stops by various churches and orphanages to donate a vast sum of money to them, as a way to pay back society (and return some of the wealth he's gained), cooking a meal for one of them.
    • He buys some expensive gifts for his "slaves", whilst also providing them high quality meat, and living conditions superior to what they had before.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Thanks to Fel's barriers, not even S-ranked monsters can touch Mukohda. When the gods realized that their only means of getting stuff from Earth could be killed in his dungeon crawl, they quickly band together to give Mukohda the skill Perfect Defense, since Fel wouldn't be able to maintain a barrier around Mukohda the whole time and there was a chance there were monsters capable of breaching Fel's protection living in the dungeons. The skill completely protects Mukohda from any and all attacks with malicious intentions behind them, allowing him to help his familiars dispose of any straggling monsters without worries.
  • Non-Action Guy: As much as he tries to be, not that Fel or any of his "kids" would allow him. The gods incessantly tell him to do more fighting later on, once they find out that his Online Supermarket skill can level up and gain new Tenants/Shops.
  • No-Sell: Thanks to Ninrir's blessing, Mukohda became immune to almost all status ailments, save for curses and poisons that can cause instant death. He becomes immune to even those later on when he receives Kisharle and Agni's blessings. For reference, a chest that was booby-trapped with an instant death gas just smelt like strong smoke to him.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: While knowing how to cook, Mukohda's cooking does not appear to be of the kind found in 5-star restaurants, showing to just be skilled but not the best. His previous work experience is in cafes and restaurants, but only part-time. Even some of the food he makes or purchases, such as spaghetti and sweet breads, are rather common in our world. In this world, due to his usage of rather alien ingredients and having apparent better cooking skills than most others, he's essentially the greatest cook around.
  • Only Sane Man: As the rational, mature adult, it falls on Mukohda to balance the group dynamic, especially when his familiars are both bloodthirsty and Obsessed with Food.
  • The Outsider Befriends the Best:
    • His cooking skills, (with the help of some condiments from his "Online Supermarket" skill) drew his immensely rare and powerful familiars to him, and made them willing to forge a familiar contract with him. Any apparent "danger" the young man sees himself in, is merely their Blood Knight excitement for battle and tutoring him to develop his own powers.
    • Thanks to his "Online Supermarket" skill providing him with otherworld items to offer the gods, Mukohda has allied himself with much of the Pantheon, with the God of Creation being willing to offer him assistance if he ever asked for it.
  • Paying in Coins: Because this is a typical fantasy RPG world, there are no credit cards or paper money, so Mukohda had to pay for purchases (especially from "Online Supermarket") this way, or get paid for quests and monster drops in sacks of coins. Likewise, he can't barter gems, jewelry, gold bars and the like for "trade goods": it's "cash and carry," where coins are the only accepted currency and the aforementioned gems/jewelry/gold bars/et cetera must be sold to get the coins.
  • Playing with Fire: Like earth, it's an element he does have an affinity for and thanks to Agni's blessing, his fireballs went from pitiful wisps to actual orbs of conflagration.
  • Power at a Price: Most tamers form familiar contracts by subjucating them with force, generally limiting them to only being able to tame monsters that are roughly their strength, but they get the benefit of any experience earned by their familiars. Since Mukohda tames familiars by befriending them and coming to a mutual agreement, he is able to gain various benefits such as the ability to contract monsters far stronger than he is, but he loses the benefit of being able to gain experience from their kills and thus has to battle himself if he wants to level up.
  • Precision F-Strike: Played for laughs when Mukohda discovers that Fel and co. had hunted and killed a red dragon, a monster capable of decimating countries, all on a whim and fully expect him to cook it!
  • Rags to Riches: Thanks to a combination of Online Supermarket and Fel's easily hunting powerful and rare monsters, Mukohda essentially becomes a millionaire overnight.
  • Rank Up: Not that he really had much of a choice in the matter, as Mukohda was fine staying in G-rank, the lowest rank in the Adventurers' Guild, because he felt going any higher would result in more unwanted attention and trouble, but as he brought in more and more rare and dangerous monsters to the guilds, the higher-ups began to take notice of him.
    • His first Rank Up occurred in Karelina, where guild-master Willem upgraded Mukohda from G to C-rank after he took out a goblin settlement and agreed to take on a couple of urgent requests. Willem also noted that politically it is a bad image if the master of a Fenrir is a measely G-rank.
    • After the party had conquered the Dolan Dungeons, Mukohda was then made A-ranked adventurer.
    • Then when Fel and the rest of the familiars took down a Red Dragon lurking near Berleand without Mukohda's knowledge, he was forced to discreetly take the corpse to guild-master Marcus, who then made him an S-ranked adventurer on the spot. All to Mukohda's chagrin at his "kids" and their lack of impulse control.
  • Red Baron:
    • Victim From Another World
    • He later gains the title The Solitary Chef, which further improves his cooking ability.
  • Remembered I Could Fly: After a while of just buying seasonings for his dishes, he completely forgot about the stat boosts the food from the Online Supermarket gives to his dishes. It wasn't until he bought a lot of Kobe Beef for Fel and his stats shot up through the roof did he remember.
  • Ring of Power: He finds a ring of magic recovery and decides to keep it.
  • Running Gag:
    • Mukohda throughout his travels finds himself sealing away in his Item Box things that would be too dangerous or too much of a headache to ever be publically revealed, such as legendary swords and dangerous artifacts.
    • Mukohda being dragged into combat by his familiars, despite his vehement protests. Occasionally, with them standing by while he fights a singular enemy on his own, and being less-than-complimentary about his combat prowess. This comes back to hurt Dora-chan when Fel meets up with Gon in his Great Dragon form. When Dora-chan wants Mukohda to intervene as Fel's "Master," Mukohda remembers their disrespecting him and refuses. He then insists DORA-CHAN do the intervening instead, and isn't budging. Sui then must stop Fel and Gon instead.
    • Mukohda's familiars regularly slaying large quantities of powerful enemies for their meat, shocking the butchers and guildmasters with the amount they gain.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: While he was already apprehensive about the idea upon learning how underpowered he appeared to be compared to the others that were summoned with him, upon meeting the king, he quickly realizes that not only does he not want to be a part of his quest, he also does not want to stay in the kingdom for very long because of the multiple red flags he got that contradicted said king's story about being invaded by the demons.
  • Semi-Divine: Implied to be what happens to him once he receives Demiurge's Blessing. Mukohda gains a racial trait that simply states he's somewhat beyond Humans now.
  • Spit Take: After he uses Appraisal on the adventuring party escorting him out of Reijseger and realizes that Earth food enhances the consumer's stats. Mukohda wisely decides to not say anything when the party talks about how energetic they felt after dinner.
  • Stat-O-Vision: The Appraisal skill granted by the Hero Summoning Ritual allows Mukohda to see the stats and skills of others. The skill also provides him with a description of any item or drop he examines. The skill provides a more critical and detailed description as he levels up.
  • Status Effects: As it turns out, stuff that's bad for you, like whiskey and other hard liquors, are doubly so in the new world. A bottle of whisky, for example, will debuff your max hp by 2 percent for 5 minutes.
  • Support Party Member: A variant. Since food from Earth provides stats buffs, Mukohda can simply feed his familiars before they head into a particularly challenging battle. Such scenarios are however rare, and he usually just feeds them their favorite snacks as rewards, regardless of the food's benefits.
  • Supreme Chef: Arguably Mukohda's greatest asset in the new world. Back in Japan, Mukohda had worked various part-time culinary positions in restaurants and cafes, which helped expose him to a variety of recipes and cooking techniques. His cooking not only allowed him to easily befriend others but is also the reason why his familiars found their way to him and are convinced to stay with him.
    • He later acquires the Cook job/class after completing the Aveling dungeon. The job seems to enhance his cooking abilities even further and allows him to cook for an even longer period of time without tiring.
  • Team Chef: As long as the rest of the party hunts and bring back edible meats, Mukohda will do his best to cook for them. Especially if what can be sold from the hunts/dungeon delves can get other ingredients/good food through "Online Supermarket" which can further boost the party's stats.
  • Team Dad: While Mukohda is perfectly willing to cook for his familiars, as well as give them a number of things to make them comfy and happy, he makes it explicitly clear that he does not intend to coddle them and that they have to pull their weight in the party, particularly when it comes to gathering the wild games they wish for Mukohda to cook for them.
    • Even the gods are no exception. While he was initially lenient with Ninrir, though his offerings were still a modest size, Mukohda had to quickly push the brakes and set up ground rules when most of the other gods found about him and started to demand stuff from him as well. After all, the stuff he buys with his skill still costs actual money, adding the fact that he has to shop for six people now, with Kisharle, Hephaestus, and Vahagn being particularly expensive. To that end, Mukohda establishes a budget of three silver coins per person in order to control their spending. The spending limits increase over the course of the story, but it's always done with a complete agreement between both parties.
    • In the IF scenario, Mukohda would have been this to the three kids too, if he had decided to take them with him in his escape.
  • Team Mom: Mukohda cooks his familiars delicious food, and constantly worries about their comfort and health, setting down a futon to help Fel sleep when he was cramped in a barn, and bundling up Dora in a coat to keep him warm, and constantly tries to introduce vegetables into their meat-heavy diet to make them eat healthier. He'll often break up any conflicts between the party, threatening them with reduced, or no dinner, occasionally punishing them for any misbehaviour with a heavier dose of vegetables. He helps make sure that they are all clean and healthy, setting a regular bathtime for all of his familiars, Fel included.
  • Telepathy: How Mukohda communicates with his familiars, especially Dora and Sui, who can't speak due to their physiology.
  • Utility Party Member: Ultimately the role Mukohda settles into for his party, since he's the only one who can cook, keep the peace between the party, and interact with other people without drawing unwanted attention.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Fel. He may butt heads with Fel over battle or dungeon-crawling, but he also cares about Fel's comfort and health.
  • Weapon of X-Slaying: Zig-Zagged. Mukohda is granted the Holy Seal by Vahagn and Hephaestus prior to his exploration of the Aveling dungeon so he and his party could easily deal with the undead floors in the dungeon. The seal grants whatever and whomever it stamps on the ability to eradicate the undead with just a single attack. The effect last for about a day and could be re-applied again with no issue.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Abhors cockroaches, which unfortunately made floor 17th of the Aveling dungeon his living nightmare as it was filled with giant cockroaches! This all stemmed from an incident he had back on Earth during his first year of college when a cockroach had snuck onto his sleeping face.

    Fel, The Fenrir

Fel

The Legendary Beast

A legendary beast that was attracted to Mukohda when he picked up the scent of our hero's cooking. Mukohda's first familiar.

  • The Ace: Not only is Fel's level in the 900s but all of his stats are also in the 9000s, allowing him to demolish his enemies with either physical attacks or spells while remaining untouchable! His arsenal of skills is just as ridiculous, as it ranges from spells from all 4 basic elements, as well as Ice and Lightning, to a slash attack capable of reducing an enemy to dust to outright Fantastic Nuke. That's not even going into the fact that he can use all his powers non-verbally, and thus instantaneously, unlike humans who are limited by their need to say what spells they want to cast.
    • Fel was delighted to find that Mukohda's cooking not only tastes great but acts as a Power-Up Food and is boosting his stats even higher into the 10Ks.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: When Mukohda tried to turn down the Familiar Pact, Fel kept interrupting him with a stern Death Glare. Mukohda realized he wasn't going to let him say no.
  • Anti-Magic: Has this as a skill.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: Fel tells Sui to "aim for the head" in battle. Sui tells Dora about this after Sui kills gargoyles with Acid Bullets, and the Pixie Dragon agrees Fel gave good teaching.
  • Barrier Warrior: Using his Barrier Magic skill, Fel can erect forcefields that not even S-ranked monsters can penetrate, usually for Mukohda's benefit.
  • Blood Knight: Oh yes. Fel lives for the thrill of battle and often rates his opponents on whether or not they even pose a mild challenge to him.
  • Blow You Away: As a descendant of Ninrir, Fel has a natural affinity for wind magic.
  • Canis Major: Fel is a massive wolf with lustrous silver fur and crimson-colored limbs.
  • The Corruptor: Played for laughs. Mukohda is afraid Sui will eventually become like Fel once he notices how Sui begins to enjoy fighting with Fel encouraging the behavior. (During Sui's using "Acid Bullet" to give head-shots to gargoyles, Mukohda's fear isn't unreasonable: he has to apologize for Sui's actions to a few parties who wondered if Sui was "kill-stealing," though it's mostly because Sui didn't realize it was doing it. Mukohda gives the other parties claim over the spoils/drops so things don't get worse.)
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: At this point, the only thing that could possibly pose a challenge to Fel would be an ancient dragon. Even slaughtering 3 piles worth of B and A ranked monsters only makes him want to take an afternoon nap!
  • Deadpan Snarker: He's often quick to make light or fun of Mudoka's exploits and misunderstandings.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Downplayed. While Fel might dislike eating vegetables, he wouldn't go out of his way to avoid eating them if Mukohda makes them as Fel finds everything Mukohda makes delicious. He'll still grumble a little about it before digging though.
  • Drool Deluge: Is usually depicted with considerable amounts of saliva dribbling out of his mouth when he impatiently waits for Mukohda to finish cooking his food. Mukohda once wondered if it was raining, before realizing Fel was drooling on him.
  • Elemental Powers: Access to all 4 basic elemental magics and their two advanced forms.
  • Emissary from the Divine: He is briefly this when he receives a request from Ninrir to have Mukohda make an offering of sweets to her in exchange for a minor blessing. Once Mukohda makes the contract, Fel is no longer needed as a middleman between the goddess and human.
  • Expy: A powerful and feared entity capable of destroying an entire civilization (though in his case it was a country and not a planet), who is a Big Eater that is easily satiated by Earth food, is Vitriolic Best Buds with the person he's seen with the most and is constantly demanding more food. Fel is essentially a wolf version of Lord Beerus.
  • Foreshadowing: Fel mentions in volume 1 that he had fought to a tie with an ancient dragon long ago. Guess who the party meets in a later volume...
  • Hates Baths: Possibly to highlight how childish he can be. Despite how Mukohda would be willing to take the time to make sure he's clean and presentable, Fel would rather get the process over with as soon as possible every time.
  • Honorary Uncle: Sui isn't Mukohda's child despite being treated as such, but refers to the Fenrir as "Uncle Fel". Fel is embarrassed to hear this and demands Sui simply call him Fel before making Sui cry and Mukohda calling him out for it. Fel agrees to let only Sui call him this.
  • Horse of a Different Color: As walking with Mukohda would have been too slow for his taste, Fel opted to just carry him when they travel.
  • Immortal Immaturity: While far from being generally childish, he definitely can be in certain aspects. When it comes to food, he prefers flavor over nutrition, constantly just wanting to eat meat and even reacting with skepticism to Mukohda trying to add vegetables to his diet. He also has a streak of hating baths and occasionally acting spoiled. This trait is only furthered since Mukohda acts in a paternal way towards all his familiars, making them resemble children even more.
  • The Immune: The blessing he received from Ninrir grants him protection from all diseases and poisons, to the point that he considered poisonous fish to simply have "a spicy flavour".
  • Insistent Terminology: Gets very irritated when he is mistaken for a Great Wolf, and is insulted when Mukohda refers to himself as "Fel's owner" to some chldren.
  • Large Ham: Dips into this at times, like when he describes how he slaughtered an entire orc settlement and made it rain their blood.
  • Lightning Bruiser: All of his super-high stats are roughly even, allowing Fel to essentially mow down the opposition with little worry about his own safety.
  • Master of All: His stats have a roughly even spread with all of them being in the upper 9000s! By volume 4, some of his stats have begun to reach the 10,000s!
  • Mundane Utility: Fel's barriers can keep out the elements and are somewhat insulated, allowing the party to better navigate the desert floor of the Dolan dungeons. He also likes to use his lightning magic to fish, which is to say he electrocutes a body of water and eats whatever floats up!
    • Fel can use his wind magic to cool his food, and dry himself after a bath.
    • His ice magic is also convenient for making solid chunks or finely shaved ice on demand when Mukohda needs it.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Not only is Fel essentially this, but he can also make someone else this, albeit temporarily, thanks to his mastery of barrier magic.
  • Noodle Incident: It is implied that Fel might have destroyed an entire country once. Looking at his stats and the fact that he has the Divine Magic skill, it isn't hard to imagine the possibility.
  • Picky Eater: Prefers meals with a lot of meat with a side of meat. Anytime Mukohda serves him something with more vegetables than meat, he will complain about it (although he will eat it regardless). Mukohda uses this as a form of revenge by purposely serving vegetarian dishes for the following meals until he gets an apology.
  • Reduced Mana Cost: He has this as a skill, while his divine blessing also provides a similar effect. The two skills likely stack and have a synergistic effect.
  • Religious Bruiser: Fel is a highly religious follower of the gods, and a particularly devout follower of Ninrir. He will regularly chastise Mukohda when he neglects his offerings, and when Mukohda was making the rounds donating to various churches, insisted that Mukohda first donate to Ninrir's. He was ecstatic when he believed that Ninrir was watching him.
  • Shock and Awe: Fel typically uses lightning magic for tougher foes which could resist his usual trick, such as the mithril lizard and the Behemoth in the Dolan dungeons and the Red Dragon in Berleand. He also uses it to fish, by electrifying a body of water, and catching what floats up.
  • Signature Move: Wind magic, typically Razor Wind, and if that's out of the question, Fel will just as quickly fry his enemies with lightning blasts.
  • Sink or Swim Mentor: Fel's answer to Mukohda's question on how to improve his magic is to drag him to the nearest dungeon and force him to fight the creatures within with only magic.
  • Stat-O-Vision: He has the Appraisal skill and since he is at a much higher level than everyone else, his version is implied to display a much lengthier description than Mukohda's own. This being the case, Mukohda will occasionally defer to Fel to double-check the things they find in dungeons in cause there are some hidden dangers his own Appraisal failed to tell him.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Along with growing to like Mukohda's cooking, Fel has come to enjoy the taste of garlic steak sauce. He also repeatedly stated he enjoys seafood, including krakens and sea serpent.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds:
    • With Mukohda. The two often conflict when it comes to aims, especially where combat or dungeons are involved, but they still care for each other, with Fel regularly protecting Mukohda either directly, or with his barrier.
    • With Dora. The two often compete over prey and battle initiative.

    Sui, The Slime

Sui

The Prodigy Slime

A recently born slime encountered by Mukohda and Fel. Mukohda's second familiar.

  • Absurd Cutting Power: Its Water Cutter spell. On the first try, Sui could easily slice apart several trees in an instant and later could do much the same against magic resistant wyverns by following Fel's example.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: While Sui can produce some impressive results with their skills, it is generally unable to articulate the exact process that allowed it to arrive at its results, simply because it feels an intuitive ability to do so.
    • Sui was able to produce powerful medicine, the likes of which had not been seen before, after consuming a few healing mushrooms.
    • With Hephaestus' blessing, it was able to forge weapons out of pure mithril, something thought to be impossible. Its weapons were of such good quality that they were able to impress the followers of Hephaestus.
    • After consuming the blood and half the liver of an earth dragon, Sui learned to create elixirs that could cure any illness, with the potential to extend the drinker's lifespan, if the elixir was not of a low quality.
    • Sui has levelled up extremely quickly for a slime, becoming a giant slime in a little over a year since it appeared.
  • Ambiguous Situation: While it is established that consuming otherworld garbage gives it permanent stat growths, it grows so powerful and so quickly that nobody is really quite sure if it can all be attributed solely to that fact or if Sui was already some kind of rare and powerful slime to begin with.
  • The Assimilator: An ability all slimes share, which they typically use to strengthen themselves. However, in Sui's case, it seems to use it in order to analyze the substances it consumes, which allows it to either gain skills related to that substance or to craft items from the things it ingests.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Sui was only 3 days old when they met Mukohda, which is a significantly younger age compared to the other party members, who were composed of a 27-year-old man and a millennium-old Fenrir at the time.
  • Badass Adorable: Not only does Sui jiggle and jump around when excited, but it is also incredibly polite. That doesn't stop it from being a force to be reckoned with in battle and it can be brutally efficient when it comes to taking down targets. Sui's Cuteness Proximity warms Rita from "Iron Will" to it when she meets it in Dolan (the manga has her snuggle Sui and play "Upsy Daisy" with them).
  • Black Bead Eyes: Sui is drawn with these. Interestingly, no other slime shown in the series is shown to have these eyes or any eyes in general. Whether or not they're simply for artistic purposes or something else is never explained.
  • Blob Monster: Being a slime and all, although the monster part is almost nonexistent as Sui is a pretty docile individual unless you're an enemy.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Or "Pew Pew Headshot" since Sui is a young slime. Its Acid Bullets take out the heads of gargoyles it fights in a dungeon, but Mukohda has to warn it not to kill the gargoyles other adventurers are already fighting (unless they ask/scream for help first, then Sui can help them without problems) otherwise it would be "kill-stealing," which could cause problems (and bring unwanted attention; Mukohda has to give the rights to the drops of the gargoyles Sui kills to the other parties to avoid this).
  • Breakout Character: Gets its own Spin-Off, Sui's Great Adventure, which shows the series from its own eyes.
  • Cheerful Child: Its general disposition. Unlike Fel or Dora, Sui has never shown open hostility, and only attacks if something threatens Mukohda, or if given permission. It also loves getting praised by Mukohda (and sweets), and if not preoccupied, simply enjoy napping in Mukohda's bag or staying by his side. If kids are involved, Sui loves to play with them, thinking it's a game of Tag.
  • Child Prodigy: Fel notes that Sui seems to be a unique and special slime and indeed its actions throughout the story are evidence to this assessment, as not only did it grow and evolve in just the span of a few months, but also produce spectacular results with all its skills, even on the first use.
  • Combat Tentacles: Sui can grow these, using one to spear a fish once. However, it generally prefers to use its tentacles as pseudopod limbs or as a built-in rifle to fire its acid or water magic.
  • Creepy Child: Downplayed. While Sui is by no means malicious or even vicious, it can be surprisingly calm about casual slaughter during hunting trips with Fel and always use deadly force when dealing with other monsters. During the party's first mini-dungeon crawl, Sui instantly dissolved another baby slime when the party had encountered it without so much as a sound.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Definitely. Mainly for Mukohda, but affects other characters as well... even the normally unflappable Fenrir (though he demonstrates it with much more reluctance).
  • Extreme Omnivore: A trait all slimes share is their ability to consume and digest almost anything. Sui demonstrates this by eating all of the party's garbage, making waste like plastic a non-issue for Mukohda.
  • Feel No Pain: Being entirely gelatinous and having a high defense stat, Sui is incapable of feeling pain, which also means extreme temperatures have little to no effect on it.
  • Friendly Sniper: Friendly and polite, while also easily capable of sniping a target mid-flight.
  • Healing Potion: After ingesting a large number of healing mushrooms, Sui gains the Potion Creation skill.
    • Its first use of the skill allowed it to produce a couple of High-Grade Potions which saved the life of a griffin that challenged Fel and later an adventurer who was grievously wounded by a wyvern attack.
    • Later on, Mukohda has Sui secretly mix up a panacea for the kids the party rescued in order to save their ill mother with some dragon liver.
  • Hollywood Acid: Its Acid Bullet skill, which is capable of burning a hole straight through its targets, while leaving an oozing aftermath behind.
  • Horse of a Different Color:
    • Using its Giganticize skill, Sui can easily carry an entire party of adventurers and still provide fast travel.
    • Mukohda and Fel use Sui, in its big form, as a boat to cross the sea with, when they could not get access to any others.
  • Innocent Prodigy: In the span of a few months, Sui manages to grow at a rapid pace, gaining monstrous increase in all its stats, and learning a variety of useful and deadly skills. Despite all this, it remains the same cheerful and curious slime Mukohda loves.
  • In-Series Nickname: After Sui befriends a girl named Marina, she sometimes calls it "Jiggly-chan."
  • Instant Expert: Sui is most definitely this. So far, it's been able to produce remarkable results with all of its skills even on the first try, but it does struggle to describe the process for understanding how to use those skills to others.
  • Item Crafting: With Hephaestus' blessing and its own ingenuity, Sui can create anything Mukohda asks of it, up to and including a fully functional meat grinder out of Mithril and larger than the previous one Mukohda was using.
  • Killer Rabbit: Slimes are generally considered to be some of the weakest monsters to the point that Mukohda is made fun of for having one as a familiar; however, Sui quickly grows powerful enough to keep up with the other legendary monsters in the party.
  • Making a Splash: It received Rusalka's blessing in volume 2, which along with all the usual benefits of a goddess' blessing, also grants it access to water magic. With it, Sui managed to learn the Water Ball and Water Cutter spells, the latter being particularly lethal as it could cleanly bisect a large tree even on minimal power.
  • Master of All: Like Fel, Sui's stats all have a roughly even spread.
  • The Medic: Thanks to its Potion Creation skill, Sui is the party's designated Healer. In an interesting twist, the party generally doesn't benefit from this skill, as Mukohda typically uses Sui's potions to save the lives of other people.
  • Mundane Utility:
    • Mukohda uses Sui's natural slime abilities of dissolving things to dispose of garbage and also clean dirty dishes and cookwear, saving a lot of clean water.
    • It can use its tentacles to spray water like a regular hose, which makes bathing Fel a breeze.
    • Its giant slime form is also an effective makeshift boat for when the party had to deal with a kraken.
  • Mysterious Past:
    • Sui manages to have a mysterious past despite being only three days old when introduced. When the question of whether Sui has parents comes up in the spinoff, neither Mukohda or Sui have any clue, with Sui's response being a matter-of-fact "Who knows?". (It's mentioned slimes split into two when they level up, so that might be where Sui came from, but Fel notes he's never come across a slime like it before.)
    • In the anime's Episode 4 Stinger, it's implied that Sui came from a drop of water that fell from the heavens, with Sui coming out of a puddle that the drop lands in.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: The official English translations use "it" for Sui's pronouns. When Rusalka asks whether it's a boy or a girl in the spinoff, its bemused response is "Sui is Sui". Since its entire body is made of slime, it has no innate sexual characteristics.
  • Really Was Born Yesterday: Sui is introduced when it's three days old, with its race as Baby Slime, its level at 1, and its stats at 1s and 2s, and it's affectionate, curious, and quick to learn. Even once it becomes a full slime and gain the ability to use telepathy at fourteen days old, its essential portrayal and voice remain that of a child.
  • Required Secondary Power: Downplayed. Sui is remarkably intelligent, but it still needs to see and examine the plans and internal workings of more complex machines, like a meat grinder, in order to be able to replicate them with its Smithing skill.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: A ridiculously cute slime with cute eyes, cute noises, a cute personality, and a cute voice.
  • Say It with Hearts: When Sui is happy or enjoying something, it's pictured with a heart in their core, usually after Mukohda praises it. When it's awed, it's pictured with a star instead.
  • Self-Duplication: Using the Cloning skill, Sui can grow and then divide into several temporary copies of itself. It mostly uses this skill as a makeshift, but effective, method of cleaning the landscape of blood after a battle. When lots of items need moving at once, Sui can use this skill, and in one opening, multiple Suis fire Acid Bullets at once to obliterate a horde of enemies.
  • Sizeshifter: Thanks to the Giganticize skill from evolving into a Giant Slime after beating the Dolan Dungeons, Sui can grow to about 5 meters tall and 10 meters wide! This is how Sui, Mukohda, Dora-chan and Fel can take on the "triple threat" of a Kraken, a Sea Serpent and a "giant whitefish" in a single outing, since Sui's about the size of a boat—and none of the local sailors will help take them out willingly to face the three threats.
  • Sleep-Mode Size: Sui is typically the size of a volleyball for convenience and because it enjoys snuggling up inside Mukohda's bag.
  • The Speechless:
    • As its entire body is simply gelatinous slime, Sui can't speak due to a lack of vocal cords. Thankfully, it can still communicate with Mukohda using Telepathy.
    • Downplayed in the anime. While it also lacks the ability to speak, it is still able to produce small squeak noises.
  • Third-Person Person: Sui's referring to itself in third person is used to show it still being a young child.
  • Took a Level in Badass: With time and by eating Mukohda's cooking and trash, Sui went from taking on relatively weak monsters with some help, to being able to slay A-ranked monsters with absolute ease.
    • It took only 2 weeks to become stronger than even Mukohda in all their stats, and by 3 months, Sui was approximately as strong as Dora as all its stats reached the thousands!
    • In Brixt, when Fel and Gon reunite and are about to come to blows, Sui notices Mukohda and Dora-chan are also arguing (Dora-chan insists as Fel's Master, Mukohda needs to step in, but Mukohda, knowing Dora-chan and Fel haven't always treated him with the respect due a "Master" from a familiar, isn't buying it). Realizing this could get ugly, it charges in and abruptly ask they stop fighting.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: After receiving Rusalka's blessing, Sui learns the incredibly lethal Water Cutter spell. Realizing just how powerful Sui has grown, Mukohda makes Sui swear to never use its powers on people. Sui happily complies, adding that it will always listen to what Mukohda says.

    Dora, The Pixie Dragon

Dora

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/doracampfire_1.png
The Elusive Dragon

A rare and elusive pixie dragon encountered by Mukohda and crew, lured in by the scent of gyoza. Mukohda's third familiar.

  • The Ace: Downplayed compare to Fel, but still very much this. Like Fel, Dora has very high stats and mastery of all 4 basic elements, as well as ice and lightning.
  • Badass Adorable: Their size makes them seem like a cute and harmless baby dragon. Most who make that mistake don't live to regret it.
    • When tired or stuffed full, they like to hitch a ride on Mukohda's head.
  • Black-Hole Belly: Regularly eats more than his body weight in food. Mukohda even has to wonder what's going on inside his stomach to process the food so efficiently.
  • Breath Weapon: Subverted. Pixie dragons are biologically incapable of using breath weapons; Dora simply channels fire magic with their mouth to mimic this ability, likely to show off.
  • Carnivore Confusion: Joins the party in the middle of their quest to butcher and consume an earth dragon. When Mukohda wonders if he has any objections to consuming his own kind, Dora points out most monsters don't really consider similar related species in that way, so he'd only object to eating another pixie dragon.
  • Didn't Think This Through: The caustic comments Dora-chan and Fel give about Mukohda's fighting ability isn't forgotten by Mukohda, so when Dora-chan insists that Mukohda stop Fel and Gon from mixing it up, Mukohda is reminded of Dora-chan and Fel disrespecting their "Master" and refuses to do so. (Especially in his Great Dragon form, Gon could also KILL Mukohda with one attack even with all the Gods' blessings. Another thing Dora-chan didn't think about either.)
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Is seen flying by the "Pan Up to the Sky" Ending of the anime, fitting the And the Adventure Continues theme as the anime ends at a point in the story very shortly before their introduction.
  • Elemental Powers: Like Fel, Dora also has mastery of all 4 basic elemental magics as well as ice and lightning magics.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: The pixie dragon doesn't like being called "Dora-chan", which nets them the odd giggle from adventurers, but has no choice other than to accept the name as Mukohda's latest familiar. Fel explains to them that the man is a Giver of Lame Names who tried that nonsense with him when they first met, and he had to shut it down.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Apparently an abbreviation of "dragon"/"doragon".
  • Glass Cannon: This is downplayed. Their high attack and speed stats are noticeably contrasted by their lower defense stat. For reference, their HP and Defense stats are only in the 900's, while everything else is beginning to reach or in the 3000's. That said, their defense stat is still at a level that nothing, save Fel or lower floor dungeon monsters, would be considered a threat to them.
  • Head Pet: Occasionally likes ride on Mukohda's head when they are tired or too full.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Their favorite way to kill enemies. Either done by wrapping themselves in fire or lightning magic to become a living lance of death or alternatively by summoning spears of ice and raining it down their foes. This typically results in Torso with a View or Human Pincushion for their victims.
    • As an unfortunate Murder Grizzly had the displeasure to find out, Dora also has no problem simply crystallizing the water inside an enemy's body to skewer them from the inside out.
  • An Ice Person: Via conjuring massive ice spears to skewer their foes.
  • The Medic: Subverted. They have access to the Healing Magic skill, but this isn't brought up for whatever reason.
  • Older Than They Look: Mukohda initially mistook them for a baby dragon, but Fel corrects him by stating that Dora, being over a century old, is fully matured for their species.
  • Pint-Size Powerhouse: They're about as big as Mukohda's head, but can easily punch holes in A-rank monsters and produce immensely destructive spells.
  • Really 700 Years Old: 116 years old to be exact.
  • Shoulder-Sized Dragon: About the size of a small dog, but don't let that fool you, Dora is still incredibly deadly.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Fel, as the two are the most competitive in the whole group. But when push comes to shove, they will cooperate to efficiently eliminate their target(s).

Old Man Gon, The Ancient Dragon

Gonji

An ancient and powerful dragon sleeping within the depth of the dungeons of Elman. Impressed by Mukohda's garlic steaks, he decided to form a contract with our hero. Mukohda's fourth familiar.

  • 30-Day Free Trial: Unlike the others, Gon has elected to grant Mukohda his services for the next 300 years to test out the waters.
  • The Ace: Even more so than even Fel. All his stats except Agility are in the upper 10,000s!
  • Apocalypse Maiden: He has access to the spell Soul of the Ancient Dragon, which has the ability to destroy the world, as the Ancient Dragons were created by Demiurge as a fail-safe when he first created the world with one individual per generation having the spell. However, Demuirge reassures Mukohda Gon isn't interested in ending the world and he would still need Demuirge's permission to use it anyway.
  • Breath Weapon: Unlike Dora, Gon can produce a true breath attack and it is powerful enough to reduce a Black Dragon to ashes with one hit. And he wasn't even at full power at the time.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Due to a shortage of prey, Gonji decided centuries ago that his original form, that being a hulking mountain-sized dragon, was no longer practical and thus shrank to his current size, approximately as large as Fel, in order to conserve energy. That said, good luck finding anyone who isn't Fel that can match his level of power even in this form.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Gonji was briefly mentioned by Fel as one of the only opponents that could ever match him long before his official debut in the dungeons of Elman.
  • Delightful Dragon: Significantly more respectful and patient with Mukohda than Fel or Dora, even addressing Mukohda as his "liege". His long hibernation means much has changed in the world, coupled with Mukohda being from another world, Gon is rather interested in learning all that is new with the world.
  • Dragon Hoard: He had built up quite the sizeable one from routinely slaughtering the Black Dragon bosses that spawn in the room he was napping in. It includes three legendary swords.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Even Mukohda is doubtful about the name he comes up with, but he accidentally sets it telepathically in the same way he agreed to the familiar contract.
  • Immortal Immaturity: Dora and Mukohda are appalled by his childish squabble with Fel over the right to eat Mukohda's cooking.
  • Manly Facial Hair: Has a long silver beard trailing down his chin to signify just how old he is.
  • Monster in the Ice: While not frozen, Gon did spend the last two centuries asleep on the lowest floor of the Erman dungeon with no one the wiser, save Demiurge.
  • The Rival: He was and still is this to Fel, seemingly being the only one in the world capable of fighting Fel to a standstill. Demiurge estimated that it would have taken the combined effort of Mukohda's entire team to defeat him.
  • Sizeshifter: Gon is able to freely alter his size from his original titanic form to about the same as Fel.
  • Time Abyss: He's 3,024 years old, far older than even Fel who is 1,014 years of age. He considered sleeping for 200 years to be a 'nap', and offered Mukohda a trial of his services for 300 years.
  • Ultimate Lifeform: He is the pinnacle of the dragon species as an Ancient Dragon, having power exceeding even Fel, and is able to casually obliterate the black dragon boss of the Brixt dungeon with a single swing of his tail.
  • Worthy Opponent: The only one Fel feels is capable of matching his strength. The feeling is mutual.

Adventurer's Guild

    General

General

The organization spanning the entire continent of the fantasy world, responsible for managing adventurers and associated job requests. Adventurers who register with them receive guild membership cards that enable them to travel freely between cities also registered with the guild. The guilds act as hubs for adventurers and post job requests for adventurers as their primary source of income.
  • Adventure Guild: It's in the name. Besides the usual services such as registering adventurers and posting job requests, the guilds also handle the butchering of monsters brought in by their members, processing and extracting valuable parts which they then sell to either the Merchant's Guild or another party for a profit.
  • Character Witness: The guildmasters all vouch for Mukohda's character whenever they need to deliver tribute and reports to their kingdom's royalty. Among themselves, they also let it be known when Mukohda comes to their town, he'll either have monster drops with him already or will be on a quest/dungeon run that will let him get those drops. So they either make sure they have deep pockets to get enough to buy the drops, or in one case, work with the Merchant's Guild to do the purchasing (this was since Mukohda had needed Ughol's help to avoid being cheated by the Dolan Merchant's Guild, a female guildmaster didn't want her city's Merchant's Guild to do likewise—and she needed their pockets to pool funds for buying from Mukohda).
  • Creature-Hunter Organization: They can and will serve as this, especially when it comes to threats that can disrupt the lives of civilians like orc settlements, sea monsters, and dragons.
  • Fantastic Rank System: The Adventurer's Guild has 8 ranks. note  Rank Up can be achieved through the gradual accumulation of job completions and/or through noteworthy accomplishments.
  • Fetch Quest: A lot of rookie adventurers start off with these types of quests.
  • Retired Badass: All of the guildmasters and sub-guildmasters are implied to be this with Marcus and Elrand being prime examples.

    Willem, Guildmaster of Karelina

Willem

The guildmaster for the city of Karelina, the city that later becomes Mukohda's permenant residence, and a former A-ranked adventurer.

  • Baldness Angst: His receding hairline is a sore spot for him. When Mukohda presents him with a working hair tonic, Willem is immensely grateful and even asks for priority in future sales.
  • Heroic Build: Despite getting it on in years, Willem still has a robust build and states he does occasionally go monster hunting.
  • Paying It Forward: He's one of the first guildmasters to help Mukohda avoid all of the logistics that come with dealing with the nobility and royalty, allowing Mukohda to freely travel in peace. So when Mukohda has Sui create a hair tonic, he lets Willem be one of the very first to test it. After the hair tonic is shown to be effective, Willem lets Mukohda show it to Earl Langridge, since he knows the tonic will not disappoint the Earl, who had his own hair issues.

    Elrand, Guildmaster of Dolan

Elrand

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elrandcampfire_1.png
Guildmaster of Dolan

The Elven Guildmaster for the dungeon city of Dolan. A retired S-ranked adventurer known for his rather enthusiastic love of dragons and dragon-related topics.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: To Dora. Poor Dora would rather keep out of his sight by hiding behind Mukohda whenever the party has to discuss business with the crazy elf.
    • Eventually becomes one to Mukohda as well, since he is the master of Dora and Elrand's only consistent source of dragon materials (and the only one who can harvest them from a dragon with almost no waste). Mukohda for his part is doubly not amused.
  • Beleaguered Assistant: Due to his various eccentricities, he often leaves his Sub-Guildmaster Ughol with most of the work.
  • Blow You Away: Has access to Wind Magic.
  • Can't Argue with Elves: Delightfully subverted. Elrand is much more humble and openly emotional than the traditional depictions of elves. Mukohda can and often will point out how troublesome he is, to his face, but Elrand either refuses to listen and/or is too excited to care.
    • Elrand's worst enemy to argue with is his colleague, Sub-Guildmaster Ugohl, who's well versed in handling Elrand and his antics. Mukohda gives Ugohl and his family poundcakes for all Ugohl does for him.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Oh definitely. He has an obsession with dragons that Mukohda considers to be a "pathological", being unable to focus on anything but dragons, whenever they are involved. Unfortunately for Dora, this often involves his harassing them whenever Mukohda has to visit Elrand, or the Dolan guild.
  • Cool Teacher: For all of his eccentricities, Elrand's genuine passion for his work means he is eager to pass on his knowledge and skills to his colleagues and students. He's also an attentive teacher, making sure to notice his student's work and give constructive criticism and tips.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: On the one hand, you have an elf who has dedicated the majority of his life to the obsessive pursuit of any and all things related to dragon and dragon lore. On the other hand, he's also a former S-ranked adventurer with the wealth of knowledge, experience, and skills that come with earning such a title, and they have not deteriorated since his retirement. When dragons aren't involved, or there is Combat Pragmatist, he can be deadly serious about his work, such as when Mukohda informed him about there being a desert floor in Dolan's dungeon.
  • Determinator: Truly, Elrand's most defining characteristic is his singular obsession with dragons.
  • Geek: For anything and everything dragon!
  • Hammerspace: The first person Mukohda encounters on his adventures that also possesses their own Item Box skill.
  • I Gave My Word: After he buys the Earth Dragon fang for the Dolan guild (and secretly planned to make it into a sword to attract others to the Dolan guild), Elrand's forced by Ugohl to come back quickly after finishing his business with the King or Ughol will sell the fang to raise money for the guild. Unfortunately, Elrand is in Aveling when he meets Mukohda again, and this causes him to forget what he promised Ugohl. Though he gets a cut of the Aveling proceeds due to him helping Mukohda with the Aveling dungeon, Elrand is greeted back in Dolan with the fact an impatient Ughol took Elrand's tardiness as a go-ahead to sell the fang. (He later uses the platinum he got in Aveling to buy the Red Dragon's fang for himself from Mukohda to keep it from Ughol's hands.)
  • Immortal Immaturity: He's 334 years old, but acts like he's a hyperactive teenager, especially when given the opportunity to examine dragon related materials. Once Gon joins the group, he splits from Dolan to be with Mukohda so he could be close enough to Dora-chan and Gon. It takes Ughol coming down with an S-ranked party and powerful chains to rein in Elrand.
  • Green Thumb: As an elf, Elrand has a natural affinity for plant magic and it's listed as one of his skills.
  • Longing Look: He apparently does this every morning ever since Mukohda sold the Earth Dragon fang to the Dolan guild. Ugohl predictably threatens to sell it when Elrand attempts to slack off. (When Elrand did just that in Aveling, Ughol follows through on his threat, though it did raise cash for the guild. A horrified Elrand then buys the Red Dragon fang for himself when he finds out Ughol wasn't as patient as he'd hoped.)
  • Magic Knight: Although he seems to reserve his magics for more dangerous foes, Mukohda's appraisal of his stats shows that all his stat lines are roughly equal to one another and his skills at the sword is superb.
  • Making a Splash: Has the Water Magic skill.
  • Master Swordsman: He managed to develop a style unique to himself thanks to his long life that helps take advantage of his natural ability as an elf to deliver swift, graceful, and powerful strikes. This is listed as the Sword Techniques skill in his status.
  • The Mentor: Becomes an unofficial one for Mukohda during their stay in Aveling with Elrand teaching him the basics of butchering. Mukohda could later butcher a red boar by himself in case he was too far from a Guild.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Especially with Dora and Mukohda by proximity. Mukohda is forced to put his foot down with Elrand about Dora when the elf's creepiness causes Mukohda to tell Elrand that Dora outright hates him. (When Mukohda looks to buy a house, he decides Dolan is NOT where to get it, as he'd have to deal with Elrand too often for his and Dora's comfort.)
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Of the life-and-death variety. When he realizes Mukohda's "desert floor" before the Behomoth fight was a different floor than the "forest floor" Elrand and his party had to turn back at, he suddenly becomes a very serious person. Realizing a desert is MUCH more dangerous than a forest (the lack of water and shelter from temperatures going from blazing hot days to freezing cold nights for example, and every party not Mukohda would not be able to sufficiently prepare after going through 28 floors), and there were no previous reports of a "desert floor," Elrand then interviews Mukohda at length, and this gets Dolan's dungeon reclassified at a much higher difficulty. This moment surprised Mukohda and even Fel with how much of a 180 turn Elrand took in personality.
  • Pretty Boy: Is noted by Mukohda to be very beautiful and in the prime of his life when he first meets him. He's even occasionally drawn with Bishie Sparkle.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: It's implied he might have sold all the guild's possessions, if not the guild itself, for all of Mukohda's Earth Dragon materials if Sub-Guildmaster Ugohl hadn't put the brakes on him. Once Ughol sees the high-quality gems in the Mimic's Jeweled Box, Ughol takes it on himself to help Mukohda get a reasonable price (after he realizes Mukohda has little experience negotiating with skilled merchants) for the gems (and shows his knowledge of them to the buyers when he refuses an offer he feels insulted at) no doubt to keep Elrand from putting bids for the gems as well.
  • Secret-Keeper: He's one of the few individuals aware of Mukohda's Online Supermarket.
  • The Slacker: Elrand makes it clear he'd much rather play hookey and go admire the guild's dragon materials than be stuck in his office all day. Ugohl takes it on himself to help Mukohda with negotiating the sale of the gems in the Mimic as well as to keep Elrand from leaving the office (and to get the naive Mukohda a better deal). Once Gon joins the group, Elrand splits to Karolina to get closer to Gon and Dora-chan. Ughol must then use a party of S-ranked adventurers to bring Elrand down.

    Marcus, Guildmaster of Berléand

Marcus

The guildmaster of the seaside town of Berléand.

  • Desk Jockey: While he does his job to the best of his ability, Marcus bluntly admits he was not cut out for office work as a guildmaster.
  • Face of a Thug: As Mukohda rightfully described, Marcus looks like a stereotypical pirate, bald, scarred, and wearing an eyepatch with an intimidating build to match.
  • Happily Married: And the couple is even expecting their first child soon. Mukohda couldn't be any happier for them.
  • May–December Romance: Marcus was initially hesitant to marry his wife given their significant age difference, but the time they spent together coupled with her insistence meant he eventually reciprocated her feelings. They have been very happy since.

Adventuring Parties

    General

General

  • Through His Stomach: All the parties like Mukohda's cooking and they help him and his familiars in return.

    Iron Will Party

Iron Will

The first party Mukohda meets, they help him get out of the Kingdom of Reijseger. They also witness Mukohda get Fel as his familiar on the road. In Dolan, they meet up with Mukohda and Fel, who are joined by Sui and Dora-chan.

  • Advertised Extra: They appear in the opening credits of the series. There's a group shot where all five of them are greeting Mukohda, who is out of frame. They only appear in the first 2 episodes. By contrast, Willem only barely makes a second's worth of onscreen time in the credits despite appearing in more episodes and being more involved with Mukohda and his party during the anime.
  • Cuteness Proximity: In the Manga, Rita sees Sui the Slime and thinks Sui is cute.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Them escorting Mukohda out of Reijseger is what allows him to be at the right time and place to meet Fel.

    Phoenix Party

Phoenix

The party that are escorting Lambert when they're attacked by bandits. Mukohda, Fel and Sui aid them, and Phoenix and Lambert later eat up Mukohda's food (not even leaving any for the chef).

  • Character Witness: In the light novel, they and Lambert vouch for Mukohda when turning the bandits over to the Guard Captain, who gives Mukohda the reward money for them and kills their leader (who'd had a separate bounty on his own head). This is implied in the manga (as the Guard Captain paid Mukohda right off), and not shown in the anime (which makes Phoenix look like they did an "eat and run"/"dine and dash"—not just not leaving anything for Mukohda, but also not giving Mukohda his in-story due entering Karolina. Lambert in all media lets Mukohda have leather goods Mukohda needs badly at no cost).

    Arc Party

Arc

The dungeon party that Mukohda, Elrand and the familiars meet in Aveling. They reunite in Ronkainen after Mukohda and the familiars took care of three monster quests there.

  • Big Eater: Feodora, the female elf of the party, has been known to eat two steaks without her party blinking.
  • Picky Eater: The turtle hot pot has Arc wondering if's good to eat at first, but then reminded it's Mukohda's cooking, they eat and like it enough for seconds.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Gaudino tells about how a B-ranked party was sent to kill ant-like monsters, but when his own party of teenaged adventurers see the damage, it's actually killer termites that they fight (and they find devoured the earlier B-ranked party). Although Gaudino and his party succeeds, only Gaudino was the only one who wanted to continue being an adventurer due to the mental trauma. This gives Mukohda a lot of respect for Gaudino. However, when he sees Dora-chan and Sui blow through a major group of them, Gaudino does tell Mukohda the mandibles of killer termites are good for knife blades as well as good materials for art pieces, making them worth good money (and the members of Arc collects one bag each of these; Sui gives Mukohda a white opal instead).

    Pentagram Party

Pentagram

The dungeon party that Mukohda and his familiars meet in Brixt. They trade Brixt dungeon info with Mukohda for better food than rations.

Divine Realm

    General

General

Home of the Divine Pantheon in the new world.

  • Bargain with Heaven: The gods apparently dole out blessings and favor to mortals they like on a regular basis. Ninrir, Agni, and Kisharle give theirs every decade or so, while Rusalka gives hers more sparingly, only once per century.
  • Crystal Spires and Togas: Has this aesthetic going as most of the gods wear vaguely Hellian-style robes and their palace or at least Ninrir's, are filled with towering Greek columns and climbing vines and lush vegetation.
  • Fantasy Pantheon: They are the gods that watch over and guide the world Mukohda has found himself in. Their ranks includes:
    • The 4 Elemental Goddesses: Ninrir, the Wind Goddess, Agnis, the Flame Goddess, Kisharle, the Earth Goddess, and Rusalka, the Water Goddess.
    • Vahagn, the War God.
    • Hephaestus, the Blacksmith God.
    • Demiurge, the Creator God.
  • God Is Good: They certainly don't seem malicious and have not done anything remotely evil despite the fact that Ninrir clearly states they can wield great power over the world if they wish.
  • Hot Goddess: A lot of them are divine and easy on the eyes.
  • Immortality Bisexuality: Implied. In the short story at the end of volume 11, the four goddesses are having a girl's night and gossiping about the rumor two male subordinate gods under Vahagn and Hephaestus were seen hooking up.
  • Immortal Immaturity: All of them are eons older than any of the earthly cast, yet can act like spoiled children when they want something in particular from Mukohda during his offering sessions. Thankfully, Demiurge makes sure to put them in their place later on and they learn to treat Mukohda and his skill as a great privilege instead of as a source of gifts and convenience.
    • Mukohda himself has to put them on a budget so their tastes don't leave him without ready cash to use for "Online Supermarket" when the familiars and Mukohda often have their own needs. Depending on what Mukohda has sold in drops, animal parts, and treasure, that budget can be adjusted.
  • The Immune: The gods are immune to all mortal diseases and afflictions. Good thing too, because considering the amount of sweets Ninrir eats, she would have easily contracted diabetes and oral issues.
  • Long-Lived: They're not immortal, as Ninrir explains. Those in the divine realm are extremely long-lived and don't suffer from any disease or illness.
  • Magic Mirror: More like a magic fountain/pool, but it serves the same function. Ninrir is introduced spying on Mukohda's party from one and it's implied that all the gods have one installed in their personal palaces. While the pools were meant to help them observe the mortal world and their followers, they can also be used to view other worlds, such as Earth. After making contact with Mukohda, the gods have essentially turned their omniscient scrying pools into shopping catalogs!
  • Our Gods Are Different: Once Mukohda gets to know them, he notices just how human they act and certainly doesn't put up an air of arrogance or indifference for such mighty beings.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Some of them are named after the mythological gods and spirits found in Earth's cultures:
    • Agni is named for Agni, the Hindu god of fire.
    • Ninrir's name derives from the Sumerian goddess Ninlil, known as "lady of the breeze".
    • Rusalka is named for a type of water spirit from Slavic folklore.
    • Hephaestus shares his name with the Greek forge god.
    • Demiurge is named after the Gnostic creator god of the material world.
    • Vahagn is named for the ancient Armenian god of war.
  • Signature Headgear: Each of the goddesses has hair accessories associated with their domination like Kisharle's single golden bovine horn or Rusalka's navy cap and fish pin. As the God of War, Vahagn wears a dragon skull helmet.
  • Super-Empowering: Any mortal they bless is granted powerful boons and magics that would normally take years to master or are simply impossible to obtain.
  • Teleportation: They can warp anything from the mortal world straight to their divine realm in an instant, although they usually go through the formality of listening to the person's prayers first before they take their offerings. The channel can also send things from the mortal realm, like how Mukohda received his Holy Seal.
  • Time Abyss: Implied. They do treat centuries of time rather casually and decades are treated like any other day.

    Demiurge, The Creator God

Demiurge

The god who created the world Mukohda is now residing in. Immensely powerful, but just as reasonable, he has been content to simply observe the world and its inhabitants, particularly Mukohda, going about their lives. Has become rather fond of specialty Earth alcohol and snacks.

  • The Omniscient: Implied to have a sense of everything that goes on in his world.
  • Reality Warper: He can easily make modifications to dungeons, which are Eldritch Locations with their own sentience, in order to fulfill Mukohda's request to help heal Rio.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: When Mukohda and his familiars visit the Temple of the Church of Rubinov, Demiurge drops two of these, one for the Church, and one for the Kingdom of Rubinov. He then gives the green light for the familiars to destroy the temple.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: When the other gods are hitting up Mukohda on a weekly basis due to the blessings and his ability to get otherworldly goods while their other "blessed subjects" don't get harassed as often, Demiurge puts his foot down and puts them under "house arrest" for a month. Mukohda realizes Demiurge is his best ally in case the other gods begin to demand too much, so he's more willing to give to him.
  • Satan Is Good: In Gnosticism, the Demiurge is the most evil (or flawed) being in the religious faith, having created the physical world, and all the suffering associated with it. Unlike his namesake, the Top God is a chill, kind and considerate deity, who chides the other gods for making unfair demands of Mukohda.
  • Shipper on Deck: This is one of the reasons why he blesses Mukohda with an unnaturally long life. He realizes the man from Japan is a Hopeless Suitor, whose relationships are doomed to failure. By this reckoning, if he lives for over a thousand years, he must find someone whom he will have a happy marriage and children with.
  • Time Abyss: While the other gods are implied to be eons old, he emerged at the dawn of time and forged this world and its inhabitants.
  • Wizard Classic: Demiurge looks like a bearded sage while also possessing a rather muscular build reminiscent of the classical depiction of Zeus.

    Ninrir, Goddess of the Wind

Ninrir

Voiced by: Maaya Uchida (JP)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tondemoskill_ninrir.png
The Useless Wind Goddess

The resident wind goddess and the first to make contact with Mukohda after his arrival in the new world. Becomes addicted to the sweets from Earth, regularly demanding more of the stuff as her offerings.

  • Art Shift: In one animated sequence, she, Ruka, Agni and Kisharle are drawn in a western iconic style, until she notices the "Internet Grocery" skill being used for sweets, and then a pile of them fill the screen, with Ninrir being drawn in anime style, licking her lips.
  • Big Eater: This girl can pound through several dozen dorayakis and full-sized cakes within a week's time!
  • Blow You Away: She governs the world's air and can bestow this power to anyone whom she favors, typically the Fenrirs who serve her.
  • Spoiled Brat: Downplayed. She can be demanding with Mukohda, especially if she sees a particular sweet she wants, but she understands that he's the one with the actual skill, so she always try to stay within budget.
  • Sweet Tooth: Develops a raging sugar addiction after Mukohda introduces her to Earth sweets as his form of tribute to her. It gets to the point where she can apparently devour cakes large enough to feed an entire party by herself (example: a full strawberry shortcake, a chocolate sponge cake, a strawberry tart and an apple pie).
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She has a fondness for dorayaki.
  • Weight Woe: Her divinity helps prevent much of the consequences from her sweets addiction, but she does begin to develop a bit of a love handle around her waist, which Kisharle oh so helpfully points out.

    Kisharle, Goddess of the Earth

Kisharle

Voiced by: Yuko Kaida (JP)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tondemoskill_kisharle.png
The Vain Earth Goddess

The earth goddess who makes contact with Mukohda after she discovered Ninrir doing so. She develops a fixation on the beauty products from Earth, always desiring more to elevate her already impressive beauty.

  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Kisharle has the largest chest out of the four goddesses, which is tied to her role as a fertility goddess.
  • Cleavage Window: Her dress leaves a sizeable portion of her chest exposed, which helps to highlight her aspect as a fertility goddess.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: She holds dominion over the earth.
  • Food God: As an extension of her dominion over the earth, the people of the new world also worship her as the goddess of fertility and harvest. Out of all 4 goddesses, she has the most followers due to this role.
  • Super-Strength: Played for Laughs. She strangles an overjoyed Vahagn when Mukohda got a liquor store choice as his second tenant, instead of a drug store. Her grip was strong enough to cause the burly Vahagn to start foaming at the mouth and go blue in the face even while he's clearly jubilant over the news.
  • Vanity Is Feminine: She's incredibly proud of her own beauty and sees Earth's beauty products as the next step to preserving and improving her looks. Mukohda notes how much she resembles his older sister in that regard. Kisharle often looks for more effective products in between meetings.

    Agni, Goddess of the Flames

Agni

Voiced by: Yo Taichi (JP)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tondemoskill_agni.png
The Boisterous Fire Goddess

The fire goddess who made contact with Mukohda alongside Kisharle and Rusalka. She develops a fondness for the alcohol, particularly beer, from Earth and their associated snacks.

  • Blood Knight: Not to the same degree as Vahagn, but her worshippers also see her as a war goddess, and thus her temples double as training grounds for future pyromancers and spearmen.
  • Fiery Redhead: A redhead and quite literally "fiery".
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: She loves her beer and does occasionally party with Vahagn and Hephaestus.
  • Hot-Blooded: She gets offended and testy when Mukhoda acts hesitant to accept her blessings.
  • Playing with Fire: She holds dominion over flames.

    Rusalka, Goddess of Water

Rusalka

Voiced by: Saho Shirasu (JP)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tondemoskill_rusalka.png
The Quiet Water Goddess

The water goddess and the most stoic of the 4 major goddesses despite her childish appearance. While she mainly demands food as offerings from Mukohda, she doesn't have a particular fixation and is satisfied by both store-bought treats and Mukohda's own cooking.

  • Crazy-Prepared: She knew it was only a matter of time before Demiurge caught them all red-handed extorting stuff from Mukohda, so she had been carefully hoarding Mukohda's offerings to her and only consuming the bare minimum every once in a while. This pays off when Demiurge grounds the gods involved for a month, and while her colleagues were left to languish, Ruka covertly spent the detention period enjoying her stash of Earth treats in peace.
  • In-Series Nickname: The other goddesses address her as "Ruka". When Mukohda does the same, she doesn't object.
  • Making a Splash: She holds dominion over water.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: Seems to have this opinion about her blessings since she only gives one out every century or so.
  • The Smart One: Restrained and calculating, which saved her from a pinch when Demiurge grounds the group for exploiting Mukohda's kindness, leaving them all without access to Earth goods for a month. She's also implied to be the setting's goddess of wisdom given that her church is seen teaching its wards arithmatics.
  • The Quiet One: She doesn't speak much, preferring to limit herself to a few choice words.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Appearance-wise, Ruka resembles a young girl, a rather noticeable detail as she is surrounded by more mature-looking gods. Whether or not she is the youngest in the group is unknown.
  • Womanchild: She has the most girlish appearance of the goddesses, and despite her stoic nature, she throws a tantrum when Mukohda can't give her food due to his lack of affinity to water.

    Vahagn, The God of War

The Avaricious War God

The god of war, who discovers Mukohda thanks to the goddesses' antics. Hot-blooded and boisterous, he's particularly fond of alcohol and always requests new varieties of liquor from Mukohda.

  • Barbarian Longhair: His hair constantly billows behind him.
  • Blood Knight: Implied given his purview as the god of war. In fact, anyone he grants his blessing to will more or less dip into this territory.
  • Hunk: He has the physical trappings of the rugged barbarian type known in most fantasy works with impressive muscles that he tends to show off when in-panel and extensive tattoos running down his body.
  • Skeletons in the Coat Closet: He wears the top portion of a dragon's skull as a helmet, while the lower portion hangs from his collar with the mandibles held in place by a necklace of dragon fangs. He also wears what appears to be a skirt of bone around his waist.
  • Those Two Guys: Vahagn is always with Hephaestus since they both order the same thing from Mukohda and are implied to be close friends given their domains are interconnected.

    Hephaestus, God of the Forge

The Stoic Smith God

The god of the forge. While just as excited about the opportunities to try Earth's alcohol as his colleague, Vahagn, Hephaestus is considerably more disciplined.

  • Goggles Do Nothing: Subverted. He wears them around his neck and they likely protect his eyes when working in the forge.
  • Manly Facial Hair: He has a waterfall of a beard that seems to almost drown his whole face.
  • Stout Strength: Hephaestus comes to about Vahagn's waist in terms of height, but he is solidly built as one would expect of a god of the forge.
  • Those Two Guys: Is never seen without his friend, Vahagn.
  • Ultimate Blacksmith: This is his domain as a god. As a demonstration of his abilities, he was able to craft Mukohda a divine relic, the Holy Seal, in a short time after coming up with the idea.

Other Characters

    The Hero Party

Saito, Kanon, and Rio

Three high school students summoned by the Rayseer Kingdom to combat the demonic forces threatening the kingdom...or so they were told.

  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: They fit the typical Isekai protagonist role far better than Mukohda, due to being teenagers and more accepting of their roles as heroes. However, the kingdom that summoned them was not being plagued by any sort of demon king, and unlike Mukohda, they ignored all the signs of deceit as the king wanted to make them child soldiers. Once they made their escape, their age, coupled with lack of understanding combat and logistical support makes living in the world more of a hassle than an adventure.
  • Dramatic Irony: The Stinger in the penultimate episode of the anime has them think that Mukohda probably hasn't gotten far into the world with an ability that they still think is worthless based on its name. They also think the rumors of an adventurer who made a legendary Fenrir his familiar aren't true and are displeased with how unappetizing the food they have to eat is. Little do they know, Mukohda is that adventurer who made a Fenrir his familiar and the ability they thought was worthless has let him summon ingredients that make the food of this world much more appetizing. This has also been true in the Light Novel, in which they so far have had no direct knowledge on what Mukohda's been up to since he last saw them.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Narrowly averted. Had Saito and Kanon not noticed the changes in Rio after she was tricked into wearing the Domination Bracelet and then the incident with the Great Wolf monster, then all three would become mindless super-powered slaves to Rayseer and an international threat.
  • New Life in Another World Bonus: Having the Hero Job grants them sky-high stats and access to powerful skills only the most powerful and seasoned of adventurers have.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Downplayed, being granted the Hero class does make the trio exceptionally powerful, but once they make it out of Rayseer and begin working as adventurers, it quickly becomes clear that for all of their power, they are still human kids with little experience in combat and no logistical support.
  • Polyamory: Saito eventually marries both Kanon and Rio after they managed to settle down and all three seem very happy with each other after surviving their harrowing experience together. Needless to say, Mukohda had hilariously mixed feelings about the development.
  • Skilled, but Naive: While boasting powerful stats and skills, being teenagers means they easily buy into the Rayseer Kingdom's story, unlike Mukohda. Although Saito and Kanon are not naive enough to suddenly accept gifts from their assigned knights, which saved them from becoming Rayseer's puppets, but they still take a good couple months before they have enough suspicions to flee Rayseer. Likewise, even after they escape, they have some struggles when it comes to handling the combat and logistical aspects of being adventurers on their own as teenagers.
  • Unluckily Lucky: Poor Rio gets her arm chopped off by a monster attack, but this inadvertently freed her from the Hypno Trinket attached to said arm. Lucky for her, she manages to live without issue before Mukohda had Demiurge discreetly send a potion that could regenerate her arm.
