Characters / Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - Multiplayer

Go To

A list of playable characters in the multiplayer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

    open/close all folders

    General
  • Bond One-Liner: Should an operator finish off an enemy with a finishing move, they rub it into their victim's face with either an incredibly cheesy quip or a badass one or both.
  • The Big Guy: Both American Demon Dogs and Russian Spetsnaz sub-factions fulfill this role for their respective factions.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: While several characters are based on media personalities with military background, most of them are voiced by professional voice actors (Talon being the exception).
  • Enemy Mine: Although the Coalition and Allegiance fight against each other in multiplayer, their operatives are free to cooperate with each other in Spec Ops against the larger threat of Al-Qatala. Their collective alliance is known as the Armistice in-game.
    • Outside Spec Ops, there are also anti-Russian Urzikstan Liberation Forces fighters, Farah and Iskra fighting alongside Russian Spetsnaz operators as parts of the Allegiance faction against their former British and American backers.
  • Fighting Your Friend: With Price, Garrick and Alex as members of Coalition and Farah and Nikolai as members of Allegiance, this is pretty much inevitable.
  • Forgot About His Powers: All operators have some kind of personal melee weapon that they use when performing a finishing move (except for the Spetsnaz who are using their bare hands to perform a Neck Snap instead). And yet, these are seemingly never used during gameplay, as they are content with butt-stroking their enemies instead, or stabbing them if the Combat/Throwing Knife is equipped.
  • Friendly Fireproof: Zigzagged. While friendly operators are immune to damage from each other, they would still call out if an ally shoots too close to them. Played straight on Hardcore modes, however.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: All operators in the game, if they aren't native English speakers, will frequently insert terms and phrases of their own languages into their battle chatter.
  • Gray-and-Grey Morality: While the NATO-led Coalition obviously represents the "good" guys in the conflict, they are also willing to do some ethically questionable things for the sake of their mission. While the Allegiance by itself is also not entirely evil, despite the many morally-dubious sub-factions that compose it like the Jackals and Chimera, who mainly recruit thugs and minor terrorists as well as some genuine freedom fighters like Farah and Iskra as their operatives. But the main faction within the Allegiance, however, the Russian Spetsnaz, are undoubtedly grey as these Spetsnaz unit are not affiliated with Barkov's army, this compounded with the lack of explicit war crimes or dubious motives in their operatives' bios making them not too different in regards to their Western counterpart.
  • Multinational Team: Both sides are composed of operators from a variety of different countries.
  • One-Steve Limit: Fully averted. The game does not restrict how many of each operator could be on one team at any time. With luck, it is theoretically completely possible to assemble an entire match where everybody on each team plays as the same character. Cranked up if this happens in a 64-man Ground War match.

Coalition

Special Air Service

    In General
  • The Gunslinger: Their second finishers have them execute their enemies with pistols at point-blank range, Gun Kata style.
  • Lawman Baton: Their default melee weapon of choice is collapsible batons.
  • Powerful Pick: Their third finishers have them disembowel their enemies with ice picks.

Voiced by: Barry Sloane (English)note
This list contains tropes related to his multiplayer bio. For others, see his section under Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - Single Player.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Price's finishing move is a point-blank headshot with his pistol, as opposed to the flashier hand-to-hand or melee weapon takedowns that everyone else uses.
  • Downloadable Content: Unlocked by purchasing the Season Four battle pass.
  • Permanently Missable Content: The only way to unlock him after the end of Season Four is to wait until a skin pack for him shows up in the game's store or skin for him appears in the Season Pass.
  • Promoted to Playable: While being exclusively an NPC in the campaign, Captain Price finally gets involved in a playable format for the Season 4 battle pass. It also marks his third proper playable appearance in a Modern Warfare game, previously last being playable in the final mission of Modern Warfare 3.

    Ghost

Ghost

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_ghost.jpg

  • Cool Mask: Wears a balaclava with a skull motif. When paired with the unlockable hooded skins, it makes him look like The Grim Reaper.

    Otter

Otter

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_otter.jpg
Real name: Benjamin Francis Lee
Nationality: English
Voiced by: Jason Anthony (English)note

  • Blood Knight: Otter is known for his violent approach to fighting. His juvenile records noted several instances of aggravated assault, and the one incident that got him into the SAS' sights had him beating the living shit out of an Al-Qatala agent in the middle of Hyde Park, despite numerous onlookers witnessing. Such is his problem with self-restraint that even the new Black-and-Gray Morality John Price found him to be overly ruthless and zealous.
  • Former Teen Rebel: He was a member of London's punk scene in his younger years and earned a criminal record during that period. He would later join the British Commandos and eventually pass SAS selection.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: One of only a handful among the multiplayer characters, and one of only two (along with Zane) at the release (Talon was added later, and Seasons 3 and 4 saw the transfer of story mode characters to multiplayer mode).
  • Odd Friendship: With Jackson Wyatt of the Warcom. Otter is known to be highly anti-social and violent, and prefers to be left alone; however, his best friend in the Coalition happens to be one of the friendliest and nicest guys around.
  • Version-Exclusive Content: His unique Crew Expendable skin and signature Model 680 shotgun are currently only available to owners of the eponymous edition of the game. Also, his Lock and Stock skin is only available in the PlayStation 4 version of the game, and only in September 2020.

Real name: Johnny MacTavish
Nationality: Scottish
Voiced by: Neil Ellice (English)

  • Early-Bird Cameo: Briefly makes a voice-only appearance in the final narrative cutscene of Modern Warfare Season 6.
  • Younger and Hipper: This is the first time we’ve seen Soap as an SAS sergeant in the series physically, and as a result he has less scarring, is slightly stockier, and has a lighter voice than his Modern Warfare 2 & 3 incarnation.

Warcom

    In General
  • Multinational Team: They are comprised of special operations forces operators from multiple NATO and Western countries, including the United States (Ronin and Alex), France (Domino), Germany (Golem), Australia (Wyatt), Venezuela (Mara), Canada (Talon) and Italy (Morte).
  • Shovel Strike: In their third finishers, they use an entrenching tool to smack their opponent's heads.
  • Static Stun Gun: They use an oversized stun rod as their secondary finisher.

    Domino

Domino

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_domino.jpg
Real name: Dominique Tam
Nationality: Korean-French
Voiced by: Alexandra LeMosle (English)note

  • Artistic License – Military: On her introduction video, she can be seen saluting with her palm facing downward, this is incorrect as in French military salutes are performed with the palm facing forward much like in the British Army.
  • Blade Spam: Unlike Golem and Wyatt, who go for few but precise stabs, Domino just shanks her victim repeatedly until they stop moving. Similarly, with the finisher from her "Bodyguard" pack, she gives the enemy a furious beatdown with an entrenching tool.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Syd of the Chimera.
  • Gratuitous French: Domino will occasionally lapse back into speaking French or inserting French words into her usual English battle chatter when under attack. One of her hurt lines reads simply "Merde!", which is the French equivalent of "Shit!"
  • Hidden Depths: Domino was originally trained to be an Olympic sprinter to represent France in the competition until the Urzikstan conflict happened.
  • I Will Only Slow You Down: Some of her bleed-out quotes have her urging her teammates to move on and leave her behind.
  • Shout-Out: Her The Singularity operator pack serves as one to AKIRA.
  • Token Minority: She's 4th-generation Korean-French and the first Asian operator in multiplayer.

    Golem

Golem

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_golem.jpg
Real name: Hans Rudolf Blaustein
Nationality: German
Voiced by: Robin Atkin Downes (English)note

  • Chef of Iron: He's a member of KSK (Kommando Spezialkräfte), the German Army's elite anti-terrorist unit. His bio also states that he's an excellent cook.
  • Fighting Clown: His "Junk Pile" skin from the "Urban Avenger" pack wears a bright orange jacket and a ghillie suit made out of trash. He's still as dangerous as ever.
"A ghillie fashioned from trash is perhaps the most genius disguise possible for an urban environment." - the "Junk Pile" skin description
  • Military Brat: Per the tradition set by his family since, after World War II, Golem joined the Bundeswehr at age 18. His father, Daniel Blaustein, was also a Colonel of the KSK.
  • Noodle Incident: Golem was also involved in the incident where Krueger was found guilty of several civilian murders and helped him leave the KSK before he was formally investigated.
  • Scarily Competent Tracker: He is considered this by his peers in the KSK, helped greatly by his own experiences passed down from his father, who was also a Scarily Competent Tracker of his time.
  • The Stoic: Like his old friend Krueger, Golem is scarily composed and quiet, has a constant indifferent look to his face, rarely ever yelling in combat, and has one of the coolest Back Stab animation ever created, where he appears to pull a "Hey, You!" Haymaker, but calmly stabs his victim in the neck instead without breaking a sweat.
  • The Storyteller: His bio also states that he's a great storyteller.
  • Tap on the Head: The finisher from the "Urban Avenger" pack has him give the opponent one with an entrenching tool, followed by grabbing the opponent's body and laying him carefully on the ground.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With former KSK operative Krueger, who is now on the Chimera's payroll and the other end of Golem's gun muzzle.

    Wyatt

Wyatt

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_wyatt.jpg
Real name: Jackson Henry Wyatt
Nationality: Australian
Voiced by: Jonathan Buckley (English)note

  • Awesome Aussie: He hails from the Land Down Under.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Not him, but his Digital skin, which appeared as part of his operator intro before being formally introduced in Season One.
  • Odd Friendship: With Otter of the SAS, who's known to be violent and short-tempered, and has a strong dislike of company. Wyatt, on the other hand, is fearless and gregarious.
  • Shout-Out: His Season 5 Battle Pass skin, Pursuit Special.
  • Version-Exclusive Content: His unique War Pig skin and signature M1911 are currently only available to owners of the eponymous edition of the game.

    Mara

Mara is a Venezuelan Warcom operative introduced in Season One.
  • Catgirl: Mara's Kawaii Cat operator bundle has this as a theme.
  • Cute Kitten: Her Kawaii Cat charm is, well, quite cute.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Based visually on model and spokeswoman Alex Zedra.
  • Downloadable Content: Mara is unlocked by purchasing the Season One battle pass.
  • Genki Girl: Has shades of this, she has a cheerful and emotive voice and often calls other teammates pal or "pana", which is, well, pal in Spanish.
  • Goshdang It To Heck: One of her particular lines is "¡Que mollejas!"(roughly translated to "Chicken guts!"), which actually is a sanitized way of saying "¡Que mierda!"(the Spanish equivalent to "What the fuck!")
  • Forgot About Her Powers: Mara's character model has a gas mask clipped to her webbing, though she does not make use of it and as such is still fully vulnerable to Gas Grenades during gameplay.
  • Hidden Buxom: In any of her skins that have a crop top, it's shown that Mara is rather large in the chest.
  • Neck Snap: Her execution on downed enemies has her throw a knife to their knees before breaking the poor schmuck's neck with her bare hands.
  • Permanently Missable Content: Her Season 1 and 3 outfits featured in those seasons' battle passes are this. The current skins that can unlock her are the "Kawaii Cat" and "No Place Like Home" bundles.
  • Shout-Out: Her "No Place Like Home" Operator Bundle is one to The Wizard of Oz, and even features a finishing move involving a canine named Toto.
  • Shovel Strike: Her "Queen of Spades" finishing move.
  • Spicy Latina: Being a Venezuelan, cheerful and good-looking.
  • Unkempt Beauty: A promotional image in the Store shows her as having gone through a very rough battle.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Downplayed: if you watch the real Alex Zedra's Youtube channel, you will be surprised that Mara's voice actress sounds considerably different, her voice being noticeably lower.

  • The Faceless: His default skin wears a balaclava and sunglasses.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: His artificial leg doesn't stop him from sprinting, super sprinting, or doing anything else that the other Operators can't.
  • Good Prosthetic, Evil Prosthetic: As a Modern Warfare hero, is artificial leg is exposed, relatively plain in design, and does not interfere with the rest of his combat gear. It also doesn't stop him from running at the same speed as other Operators.
  • Noodle Incident: Does not reveal yet how he obtained his leg to Ghost or even escaped Barkov's gas factory despite making a clear sacrifice to destroy it.
  • Permanently Missable Content: The only way to unlock him after the end of Season Three is to wait until a skin pack for him shows up in the game's store or skin for him appears in the Season Pass.

Allegiance

Spetsnaz

    In General
  • Crowbar Combatant: They use crowbars as melee weapons in their second executions.
  • Detachable Blades: In their third execution, they use ballistic knives to execute their enemies.
  • Neck Snap: All Spetsnaz operatives have this in some way. Minotaur and Nikto wrestle their enemies to the ground before delivering a Finishing Stomp to their face and breaking their neck, Bale headbutts his opponent very hard, and Rodion does it the old fashioned way after also tacking them to the floor. If performed against prone targets, all three will move to snap the victims' necks.
  • Mother Russia Makes You Strong: They are the sub-faction representing the Russian Armed Forces and have some of the physically strongest operators as its members, with their first execution move being a Neck Snap.

    Minotaur

Minotaur

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_minotaur.jpg
Real name: Maxim Ivanovich Bale
Nationality: Russian
Voiced by: Nickolai Stoilov (English)note

  • All There in the Manual: The official artbook lists his name as Maxim Bale and claims that he's the twin brother of the other Bale on the team. Nowhere in the game does it tell you this.
  • Always Identical Twins: Averted. Although Minotaur and Bale are twins, they are explicitly referred to as fraternal twins in Bale's bio. Their facial structures resemble each other's quite significantly, however, especially their Icy Blue Eyes.
  • The Big Guy: One of the physically largest multiplayer operators.
  • Finishing Stomp: Like his commanding officer, Minotaur's finishing move is him throwing his foe to the ground and stomping hard on their face.
  • Guns Akimbo: He wields a pair of X16s in his bio "trailer".
  • Identical Stranger: He uses almost the same character model as J-12, the Russian soldier who murdered Farah and Hadir's father.
    • Season 6 adds a J-12 skin for Minotaur.
  • My Greatest Failure: During the Kurbanov Hospital siege of 2009, he got word that his brother Dmitry was KIA and blamed himself for not being able to protect his sibling. This resulted in long-lasting psychological trauma that has him going freelancing as a PMC for hire, causing a ruckus in South East Asia until Dmitry tracked him down and reinstated him into the Spetsnaz.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: He saved many lives during a hospital siege during the 2nd Chechen War, but afterward was placed on extended psychiatric leave.

    Bale

Bale

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_bale.jpg
Real name: Dmitry Ivanovich Bale
Nationality: Russian
Voiced by: David Agranov (English)note

  • All There in the Manual: He is Minotaur's brother, but this is only touched upon in the artbook.
  • Defector from Decadence: He used to serve in Barkov's army, but quit after witnessing the rogue general's lack of concern in collateral damage and civilian casualties.
  • Finishing Stomp: As mentioned above, Bale finishes his enemies by first wrestling them to the ground, then stomping on and breaking their neck. He also has a few more moves that he can pull.
  • Machete Mayhem: If physical beatdowns are not his style, Bale can rely on his Spetsnaz machete to do some quality chopping.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: Dmitry actually survived the hospital siege mentioned in his brother's bio; however, Minotaur was told and led to believe that he had died.
  • Use Your Head: In addition to his Finishing Stomp, Bale can perform a headbutt with his heavy helmet with such force that it's instantly lethal. The hapless victim tries to fight back and actually gets a hit in, but he just calmly shrugs it off before giving them the conk.

    Rodion

Rodion

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_rodion.jpg
Real name: Nikodim Rodionovich Egorov

  • Mentor Archetype: In addition of Bale as his role model, he also has mentor in form of Yegor from Chimera.
  • New Meat: Although he's a full-fledged member of Spetsnaz, his bio states that Verdansk is his first combat assignment. He's also one of the youngest operators at 25, where most everyone else is at least in their early thirties.
  • Taught by Television: One of his specialties is expertise in Western culture, which was gained by watching enough Hollywood action movies.

    Nikto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_nikto.jpg
Nationality: Russian
Voiced by: Gideon Emery (English)note
Nikto is a Spetsnaz operative introduced in Season One.
  • Bilingual Bonus: His callsign is Russian for "nobody", alluding to his concealed face.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: He was on the receiving end of this when his cover was blown during a past operation. As a result of this, his face became permanently ruined and he was psychologically-scarred.
  • Cool Mask: Or creepy mask, depending on how you see him. At an unspecified point in the past, Nikto received severe injuries to his face that left him disfigured, and so he chose to don his mask so as to conceal his damaged visage.
  • Downloadable Content: Nikto is unlocked by purchasing him from the in-game store with COD points.
  • The Faceless: Due to his disfigurement he hides his face behind a mask.
  • Handicapped Badass: Nikto is severely disfigured, while also suffering from acute dissociative disorder, though he remains one of the Spetsnaz's top operatives.
  • "Hey, You!" Haymaker: His default finisher opens with this one, followed by a shoulder throw and Finishing Stomp.
  • Named by the Adaptation: For his appearance in Call of Duty: Mobile, he is given the full name of Andrei Nikto. Whether this is canon to the mainline games is unknown.
  • Sackhead Slasher: His "Scarecrow" skin has him wear a crudely stitched burlap sack over his mask.
  • The Mole: Modern Warfare II reveals that he’s actually a double agent working in tandem with the CIA. Though to what ends are unknown, as he is currently leading his own private force known as the Peacekeepers.

Jackals

A pan-African Private Military Contractor organization founded by Viktor "Zane" Metiko and his brother Abraham to protect various African countries from Al-Qatala. Backed by the Allegiance, the group is primarily financed by black market petroleum and illegal arms sales. While on the surface their goals are well-intentioned, they are considered "terrorists" by Coalition and even their own government.
    In General
  • Carry a Big Stick: They use rungus as melee weapons in their second executions by whacking their opponents' head with said war club.
  • Combat Pragmatist: The Jackals don't play fair. As their team announcer puts it.
AF Commander: We don't deal in fair fights. A win's a win.
  • Evil Laugh: One of their win quotes has the announcer let out a sinister chuckle.
AF Commander: Ha ha ha ha ha... I smell blood.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Their weapon of choice in their third finishers: a cinder block.
  • Machete Mayhem: Their operatives use large, flat-blade machetes to do the dirty work.
  • Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: Zane founded the Jackals allegedly to protect the citizens of Africa from Al-Qatala incursions. However, the faction is considered a terrorist organization by Western militaries.

Azur

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_azur.jpg
Real name: Azur Rashid El-Sarraf
Nationality: Egyptian
Voiced by: Sam Kalidi (English)note

  • All There in the Manual: Azur's full name and nationality are only revealed in the official artbook.
  • Affably Evil: Azur is very polite, soft-spoken, and professional. Listening to his reload, revive, and executions voice clips, you'd hardly believe this guy is a revenge-driven arms dealer working with a group widely considered a terrorist organization.
Azur: [after hacking an enemy with his machete] Out of the way, please.
  • African Terrorists: an Egyptian one, though also crossed with Middle Eastern Terrorists.
  • Ambition Is Evil: One part of his motivation to partner with the Jackals was to feed his own ambitions.
  • Arms Dealer: He had conducted deals with rivals of Al-Qatala, which were later discovered by The Butcher.
  • Bald of Evil: Has his head shaved in the Season Two "Brawler" skin.
  • Cool Shades: His Nightshade skin introduced in Season One gives him a snazzy pair of dark aviators.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: One of his unlockable skins for Season 4 of the Battle Pass is that of an Al-Qatala fighter as seen in the campaign and Spec-Ops co-op mode, complete with an Al-Qatala shoulder patch.
  • Enemy Mine: Azur is technically independent. However, he offered the Jackals his service in order to fight their common enemy, the Al-Qatala. Despite this, it's made clear in his extended bio that he and Zane don't exactly see each other eye-to-eye.
  • It's Personal: Another part of his motivation to partner with the Jackals was to destroy Al-Qatala after they raided his storehouses and killed his family.
  • Vocal Dissonance: He's surprisingly soft-spoken.

    Grinch
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_grinch.jpg

Nationality: Unknown, presumably Congolese

  • African Terrorists: He was initially somewhat hostile to the Jackals and killed three of them. After Zane made contact and made a deal with Grinchnote , he works for them.
  • Version-Exclusive Content: His unique All Ghillied Up skin and signature HDR sniper rifle are currently only available to owners of the eponymous edition of the game.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Tries to play up the Scary Black Man stereotype, with the quips in his skin packs being performed in what can be compared to Christian Bale's Batman voice, but when he's hit and panicking, his voice becomes high-pitched and squeaky.

    Zane

Zane

Real name: Viktor Isaac Metiko
Nationality: Nigerian

  • African Terrorists: He's the founder of the Jackals, a group that was formed to "defend Africa", with funding received from black market oil. The group was designated as terrorists by... someone. His bio doesn't specify who made the designation.
  • Badass Cape: Sports a rather neat-looking khaki one. The "Pepper Don Red" skin replaces it with a long camo parka.
  • Bald of Authority: His "Pepper Don Red" skin from the "Bloodstained" pack removes his usual beret, revealing a shaved head. And since he's the founder and leader of the Jackals, that makes him this trope.
  • Cool Shades: Like D-Day, Zane is always wearing shades. Including at night, when playing the NVG mode.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He witnessed atrocities committed by Al-Qatala and felt that his government was not providing the funding needed to fight the Urzikstani terrorist group.
  • From Camouflage to Criminal: Originally a soldier for the Nigerian Armed Forces, he defected after he accused the government of withholding funds that were intended for fighting Al-Qatala.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Put a pair of shades on Everton Lawrence and he looks exactly like Zane.
  • Occupiers Out of Our Country: His latest execution voice lines have him to say this.
Zane: [after bludgeoning an enemy with a brick] You should have never come.

Chimera

A Russian-based Private Military Contractor organization under Nikolai's leadership. Its members consist of former military operators from multiple countries (including various Former Regime Personnel), Sociopathic Soldiers, Bounty Hunters, and Hired Guns.
    In General
  • Equal-Opportunity Evil: While calling them evil may be a bit of stretch, they are a faction with ambiguous morality that not only consists of operators from various nationalities and ethnicities (including former NATO personnel and Urzikstan Liberation Forces fighters), but is also the only faction so far that has an equal male and female ratio of 50:50 on its roster.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: In their second finishers, they simply use their bare fists to kill their enemies (or in Krueger's and Syd's case, a brass knuckle).
  • Interservice Rivalry: Judging from the interactions between Kamarov and Nikolai, they seems to have a mild case of this going on with the Spetsnaz.

    Yegor

Yegor

Real name: Yegor Arturovych Novak
Nationality: Ukrainian
Voiced by: Alex Feldman (English)note
This list contains tropes related to his multiplayer bio. For others, see his section under Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - Single Player.
  • Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: He's seen briefly in the single-player campaign beating the Butcher during an interrogation scene.
  • Mentor Archetype: Has unique dialogues with Rodion that suggests he has this relationship with the young Spetsnaz operator.
  • Mythology Gag: One of his skins is a casual suit paired with gloves and body armor, which closely resembles what Makarov's men wore during "No Russian" in Modern Warfare 2.
  • Noodle Incident: Yegor was chased out of Ukraine in the past for refusing to broker a deal with Imran Zakhaev.
  • Tattooed Crook: Several of his skins (like the "Athleisure" set from Season 2) reveal the prison tattoos on his hands and neck. The "Hard Labor" set from Season 3 goes even further.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: The "Hard Labor" unlocked by purchasing Season 3 Battle Pass, displaying his Vor v Zakone tattoos.

    Krueger

Krueger

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_kreuger.jpg
Real name: Sebastian Josef Krueger
Nationality: Austrian
Voiced by: Martin Harris (English)note

  • Dull Surprise: Barely anything gets a rise out of him. Krueger's reply to most situations is a disinterested "Hmph!"
  • The Faceless: Nobody knows what he looks like underneath that mesh veil and hood with the possible exception of Golem.
  • Gratuitous German: He often lapses back into his natural Austrian-accented German during combat.
  • Guide Dang It!: His unlocking condition is stated at 25 Back Stabs, but what the game doesn't tell you is that normal melee attacks count as well. You don't need to risk your neck sneaking up to an enemy to perform the lengthy animated kill scene that could very well be stolen from right under your nose by a teammate, you just need to thwack enough enemies on the head with the stock of your weapon for Krueger to unlock.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: It's unclear what the game wants his name to be. On the one hand, the operator selection screen calls him "Kreuger" with the first "e" before the "u", while on the other, the subtitle for in-match battle chatter has his name as "Krueger", like "Freddy Krueger", and that's how he pronounces his own name as well. To make matters all the more confusing, the official artbook lists his name as "Kruegar". His official dossier lists his name as "Krueger", however, so there's that.
  • The Quiet One: While Krueger does have combat chatter, he is neither as loud nor vocal as the other operators, usually speaking in short sentences at a time.
  • Smug Super: Due to his skills as a covert operative, Krueger looks down on all of his enemies as weak and soft. He lets them know this by saying it to their faces after he's done finishing them off.
Krueger: [after using finishing move on an enemy] Is this what they sent me? *pssh*
  • Sociopathic Soldier: He fled to Germany to evade murder charges and served with KSK under a false ID.
  • The Stoic: Krueger doesn't usually shout or scream when he's seriously hurt, and his most common response to being shot at is a grim and quiet "Fine..." that he doesn't even utter half the time. While he does call out that he's hit sometimes, those are the exceptions rather than the rule.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Golem, who took the initiative and befriended him first during their days together in the KSK. Despite them now being aligned with opposing factions, it's quite apparent that Krueger still thinks highly of his old friend, referring to him as "mein brüder"/"my brother", and even has quotes specific to Golem if both are on the same team in co-op.
Krueger: Same side again, Golem, interesting.

    Syd

Syd

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mw2019_syd.jpg
Real name: Sydney
Nationality: American
Voiced by: LaNisa Renee Frederick (English)note

  • Friendly Rivalry: With Dominique "Domino" Tam of Warcom.
  • Guide Dang It!: Her unlock criteria are five Juggernaut kills in any co-op mission. What the game doesn't tell you is that all five kills must be made within a single mission, and you have to be the one who got the credit in order for it to count, as having someone else finish off a Juggernaut that you wounded won't count. And many co-op missions have exactly five Juggernauts, so what you see is what you get. It's a bit foggy in practice, however, as some players have reported being able to unlock Syd by just participating in Juggernaut kills, while others had to grind several Operations in a row just to try and rack up the kills needed.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Until Iskra arrived in Season 3, Syd was the only female in any Allegiance faction (compared to the Coalition, which had a woman in every faction even before the arrival of Mara).
  • Twofer Token Minority: She's one of few Americans and women aligned with the Allegiance, as well as the only black person within Chimera.

    Iskra

Iskra

Real name:
Nationality: Urzik
Voiced by: Jade Struck (Appearance) / Shani Atias (Voice) (English)note
Former operative of Farah's army, cut off after Hadir's gas attack. In order to fight Al-Qatala, Iskra joined Chimera.
  • Bald Head of Toughness: Has her head shaved, both in her early-bird cameo and under the shemagh on her default skin, She's also an accomplished combatant and the team's The Big Guy.
  • The Big Guy: She's the stockiest of Chimera operatives, even bigger than Krueger.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Visually based on professional shooter Jade Struck.
  • Downloadable Content: Unlocked by purchasing her from the in-game store with COD points.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She's displayed front and center on the photo for the Multiplayer mode.
  • Permanently Missable Content: Her alternate skins, unlocked by reaching level 90 on the Season 4 Battle Pass and Season 5 Battle Pass.
  • Remember the New Guy?: In spite of making first appearance in Multiplayer mode, apparently she was one of ULF fighters who got separated from Farah during the botched ambush at Tariq Almawt.
  • The Sneaky Guy: According to her bio, she was this for Farah.

    Farah

Farah

Real name: Farah Ahmed Karim
Nationality: Urzik
Voiced by: Claudia Doumit (English)note
Commander of the Urzikstan Liberation Force, who joins forces with Nikolai to stop Victor Zakhaev in Verdansk.
  • The Atoner: One of possible reasons why she joins the Chimera, a Russian affiliated PMC. As she needs to make amends for the crimes perpetrated by her brother against the country.
  • Enemy Mine: As part of the Allegiance faction, she's now fighting alongside the same Russian soldiers and operators who had occupied her country.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Putting aside the fact she's now fighting alongside Russian forces, seemingly without holding any grudges against them. Farah makes it clear in Campaign that she completely disapproves of using chemical weapons and other WMDs, to the point of disowning her own brother when it revealed that he's the one who stole the Russian gas. In spite of that there's nothing stopping the player as her from deploying destructive killstreak weapons like white phosphorus bombs, using gas grenades or even nukes against Coalition forces in Multiplayer.
  • Irony: She's now part of Russian-led faction despite spends almost the entire of her life fighting against their occupation forces on her homeland.
  • Occupiers Out of Our Country: Seems that even after Barkov's death and her recruitment into the Chimera, the ULF commander is still as determined as ever to fight for her country's freedom.
Farah: [after using finishing move on a Coalition operator] For Urzikstan!
  • The Pardon: She's implied to have gotten a pardon from the Russian government after being designated as a terrorist as shown by her current service to the Allegiance.

    Lerch

Lerch

Real name: Marcus Ortega
Nationality: American
Voiced by: Tony Sentmanat (Appearance) / Fred Tatasciore (Voice) (English)note
The leader of Shadow Company, former Marine turned mercenary. Introduced in Season 5.
  • Blood Knight: Lerch's enjoyment of fighting was apparent to his squadmates while he was in the Marines. After he left the Marines, he found civilian life unappealing, which led to him fighting in wars again as part of Shadow Company. His default quip "I'm having too much fun!" is also telling.
  • Boulder Bludgeon: His default finishing move is him smashing an enemy's head with a cinder block.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Modeled after athlete and former Marine Tony Sentmanat.
  • The Dragon: Lerch leads Shadow Company on the ground, but he was handpicked by the currently-unseen CEO to do so.
  • Downloadable Content: Unlocked by purchasing the Season Five battle pass.
  • Large and in Charge: The Season Five intro clearly depicts him as the Shadow Company commander, and he's ripped. His skins also reflect this with titles like "Gargantua" and "Colossus".
  • Permanently Missable Content: The only way to unlock him after the end of Season Five is to wait until a skin pack for him shows up in the game's store or skin for him appears in the Season Pass.

    Roze

Roze

Real name: Rozlin Helms

  • Downloadable Content: Unlocked by purchasing her from the in-game store with COD points or by reaching tier 100 in Season 5's Battle Pass.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Appeared in the Season 4 trailer and on the game's startup screen before being revealed as a playable character. Also, her "Torn Veil" skin pack fully reveals her face, before her appearance in ''Modern Warfare II"
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Has easily the deepest voice of the female operators so far.
  • Wearing a Flag on Your Head: The Stars And Stripes patch on her plate carrier is placed upside-down to signify her having cut ties with the military.

    Velikan

  • Downloadable Content: Unlocked by purchasing him from the in-game store with COD points.
  • Shout-Out: His single voice clip, an evil muffled laugh, sounds quite a bit like The Pyro's.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: Clad in a helmet, opaque goggles and red half-mask with a demonic design.
  • The Speechless: Velikan is the only operator who doesn't talk except for his quip, which is basically a muffled evil laugh.
