resolved The Ron the Death Eater example from YMMV/SonicX Anime
I wanted to make this discussion because I saw that the Ron the Death Eater example for Chris Thorndyke was deleted. Here it is.
- Ron the Death Eater: Chris Thorndyke is often viewed by fans as a selfish, spoiled brat, who's life isn't all that bad as he claims it is, and being more obsessive over Sonic than Amy is. However, Chris isn't really a bad kid. His whiny moments like in episode 49 were due to his fear of loneliness, which kept him from handling the situation of Sonic returning to his world more positively, especially since the news sprung upon him unexpectedly and was pretty impactful for him, and he was acting more traumatic and in denial than like a spoiled brat. His clinginess to Sonic and his fear of loneliness is due to being neglected by his parents since he was little, as he had to spend most of his time alone inside his huge and empty mansion without friends or siblings, making his life feel very empty and he didn't want to lose the one person who filled that void with his friendship and adventures. This also applies to when Chris shut down the portal to stop Sonic from going back to his world. Chris didn't shut down the portal because he's a spoiled brat. He did it because his emotions and fears got the best of him, that he made a reckless choice without thinking clearly.
I actually agree with this example, but it was deleted because apparently it was added by a ban evader. I am for adding it back because although Chris is not my favorite character of this show (due to some issues with how he was written), I do agree that fans do tend to demonize this kid.
resolved Gundam SEED : OfficialCouple and BetaCouple mutually exclusive ? Anime
A recent edit on the Gundam SEED Main Characters page switched Official Couple to Beta Couple here for Athrun and Cagalli : https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Characters.MobileSuitGundamSEEDMainCharacters&page=4#edit40337667
A little context first : Athrun and Cagalli (the Beta Couple of the edit) are still main characters of the overall franchise and they are the second couple of the Cosmic Era, behind Kira and Lacus (the Official Couple of the edit). In fact, Athrun is the deuteragonist of the franchise for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny until Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom where he loses his deuteragonist status to Lacus. Lacus and Cagalli, while still main characters, are behind in importance compared to Kira and Athrun in the first two works (and also Shinn in SEED Destiny) and in the third, Athrun and Cagalli didn't have much screentime, being Demoted to Extra. One more thing, Kira and Lacus didn't really hook up in SEED, they are somewhat a couple in SEED Destiny (a Chastity Couple to be exact but still a couple) but their couple really only blossoms in SEED Freedom.
My questions :
- Are the Official Couple and Beta Couple tropes mutually exclusive ? I personally think not but I prefer asking first.
- The Beta Couple page cites that the Beta Couple is a secondary couple being a foil to the main couple, I agree with that but they are not that secondary compared to Kira and Lacus. But also cites that things goes usually smoother than the main couple, while I agree that Athrun and Cagalli are indeed the Beta Couple in that sense for Kira and Lacus in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom (due to both Athrun and Cagalli being Demoted to Extra), this is not the case in the previous work Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny where they face far more hardships than Kira and Lacus where their couple goes well in SEED Destiny. In fact, even in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, before becoming a couple, Athrun and Cagalli encounters were far from nice (to say the least) compared to Kira and Lacus who never have an argument on screen in SEED and SEED Destiny. With this context, are Athrun and Cagalli really a Beta Couple ? Maybe an inverted one ?
After reflexion and overall in the Cosmic Era, I think both Kira/Lacus and Athrun/Cagalli are Beta Couple to each other : Kira/Lacus have things going smoother for them in SEED Destiny (and arguably SEED) than Athrun/Cagalli while the situation is reversed in SEED Freedom where Kira/Lacus faces hardships while Athrun/Cagalli didn't have problems in their couple.
I am inclined to restore Athrun/Cagalli Official Couple entry and adding a Beta Couple entry for both couples. But I wanted opinions first before doing so. And also to prevent edit wars.
Thoughts on that ?
Edited by CybranLordresolved Can I change the description rather than send it to the TRS? Anime
Can I change the page description to One Person, One Power? After a query about whether there was a trope for power systems, I looked at the two pages for Magic by Any Other Name and Differently Powered Individuals. I noticed this quote at the end: "For another meaning of Differently Powered Individuals, see One Person, One Power." I checked the description, and it talks about how powers can go by a name like Differently Powered Individuals.
This is odd, at least to me, since Magic by Any Other Name already exists, and the difference I could tell from the description is that they are unique and have one power. I also checked what it was when launched, and the trope was more about each person having one power while contrasting with ComboPlatterPowers. I posted a discussion for the page and the Tropes Needing TRS Clean Up thread with no reply. Is it is all right to change the trope description if you see something off, especially since there hasn't been a response on the Tropes Needing TRS Clean Up forum? I am okay with being wrong if there is something that I need to include. I want to make sure of what I can and can't do.

Edited by nightlightieresolved Body Horror page image Anime
I think we should replace the image of the Anime & Manga. The one that is used from Barefoot Gen is too gruesome and nightmarish in my opinion. I’ve been thinking about one from My Hero Academia - it is All For One’s “Omni-Factor Unleash”, a move where he releases all of his quirks and mutates into a giant mess of flesh. What do you say?

I may have mentioned this a while back, but I made a sandbox draft for Suicide Squad Isekai because there was no release date. Someone went and published it anyway. Do I just copy and cut?
To be clear, we know it is supposed to be out this year, but we do not know much else about the release date.
Edited by BigBadShadow25resolved Which should we use – episode names or episode numbers? Anime
Is there a wiki convention or policy on whether or not you should refer to TV show episodes by their names or by their numbers?
It's just that I'm noticing that on the page for Bang Brave Bang Bravern!, someone's been editing mentions of episode numbers and replacing them with the names of the episodes. I'm don't object to the idea of referring to episodes by their titles, but with Bravern, this means the page refers to episodes with long names like "Isami! You'll Be Here Soon, Won't You, Isami!?"
I'm tempted to edit them back to episode numbers, but I don't want want to kick off an edit war if I can help it, so before I do anything, I'm wondering if there's some sort of wiki policy that leans one way or the other.
Edited by DancouMaryuuresolved Vocabulary Conflict Anime
A little while ago now, Dentaku made this edit on YMMV.Bocchi The Rock for the LGBT Fanbase example.
All instances of "Sapphic" were replaced with "Lesbian", saying the former is an "old-fashioned" form of the latter. I reverted the change with the reason that Sapphic is actually an umbrella term for any woman who loves woman (which does include lesbians, but also labels like bisexual, demi, etc.)
And then just today, someone reverted it again with no edit reason.
Edited by IkeaHanresolved Regarding anime adaptations and unreleased works... Anime
Piggy-backing from the UW thread here:
So, as far as Unreleased Works are concerned, animes (be it series or film) that are based on mangas, light novels, games and visual novels do not count as an "unreleased work" unless the adaptation is significantly different from their source material to be considered its own thing (or in the case of anime films based on said pre-existing mediums, is explicitly stated to take place in its own universe/continuity, distinct from the main series). However, there are a few manga/LN/video game-to-anime adaptations that are listed on the UW page; some of which I intentionally left or added back after I've cleared all of the other adaptations out:
- Bartender: Glass of God
- Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction
- Genshin Impact
- THE iDOLM@STER: Shiny Colors (given that the other iMAS games have their anime adaptations on separate pages)
- Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation note Technically speaking, it's based on a one-shot manga with little to no narrative
- Ōmuro-ke: dear sisters/friends
- The One Piece
- Sand Land: The Series
- Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf
- Trapezium
- Time Patrol Bon
- Uzumaki
- Witch Hat Atelier
The works I've bolded are remakes of works that already received anime adaptations (with One Piece's anime not even ending by the time of the remake's announcement), which for the most part don't really count as "unreleased" works if there isn't enough evidence of the remake being distinct from its source material. Additionally, most of the pre-release material and official sources I could find on some of the adaptations (MyAnimeList, Anime News Network, even their official Japanese websites) don't have a significant difference from their source material beyond, say, a title change. With that in mind, would it be okay if I remove some of these "unreleased" works as their content has long since been publicized?
Edit: Fixed grammer/formatting + dewicking Trapezium as that page hasn't been made yet.

resolved Re-ambiguated redlinks Anime
On Recap.Spy X Family, kuchiki222 re-ambiguated the recap links I had previously disambiguated between the Anime and the Manga.
Admittedly, I hadn't used the official arc titles (I numbered them instead, due to conflicting information), but now the entire system has been compromised, and needs to be re-disambiguated from scratch.
They did so, I might add, without an edit reason.

So for courtesy reasons, I need to spoiler tag this question:
The anime Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has a massive twist in the very first episode that basically changes the entire trajectory of the story from its source material. resolved Edit war over Berserk 2016 Anime
While Berserk (2016) is pretty infamous for a variety of reasons, one troper (mrdarkcatify) have been removing mentions of it on various creator pages (like Chris Hackney and Erica Mendez) with this edit reason:
Note that said entries have been restored.
However, the real trouble begins in Erica Lindbeck’s page:
Hi, I'm trying to redirect to a trope page for a Yugioh Arc-V fanfiction, and am having an issue with it.
The trope is Fanfic/Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V The Six Dimensions, and when I try to put that into the page editor, it's appearing as a red link for some reason.
[[Fanfic/Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V The Six Dimensions Trope]] is how it's supposed to be entered right?
Does anyone know what might be the issue here? I'm trying to redirect this from the Yugioh Arc-V Fan Fic Recs page.
