I've seen some Twitter users that have the word sapphic on their bios, so if it's used that regularly on social media then it's not archaic.

Revert. Sapphic is far from an archaic word, people on Reddit and Twitter use it a lot.

As far as I know at least, "sapphic" is a distinct term from "lesbian" (and definitely isn't an old-fashioned term), but I'm willing to take your word for it about it being an umbrella term. I say revert it.

Bearing in mind that words only mean things because people use them that way: Yes, sapphic was an older synonym for lesbian (back when "lesbian" itself was used more broadly for any woman who had sex with women), then it was disused entirely for a while, then it was brought back with the intent of being used as Ikea Han describes above, and has in fact been used that way online for a while now. Dentaku's assertion that sapphic is, present tense, an archaic synonym for lesbian is inaccurate.
