Ask the Tropers:
openWhere would I put characters tropes about characters in relation to each other? Print Comic
Specifically, I'm working on Deadpool stuff. For Deadpool Allies, and there are characters who have their own pages, like Bullseye (who need an actual character page) and Cable.
I'm aware of there's a rule or guideline for characters who already have their own character pages where you'd only list tropes specific to appearances in that series, in this case specific to stuff in the many Deadpool series.
But where would tropes go about these characters and Deadpool in relation to each other? For instance, Heterosexual Life-Partners, Red Oni, Blue Oni, Vitriolic Best Buds... would character pair tropes go on one or more of: Deadpool Allies within that character's folder, Deadpool: The Character, the character page for the second character?
openMemetic Mutation vs. "just memes"
if anyone can help, i'd like some clarification on what should/shouldn't be on a Memetic Mutation entry or subpage.
a few months ago a mod replied as such on the forums, which suggests to me we shouldn't be cataloging every meme under the sun for a given work (and i believe the actual page mentions something like that). seems fair enough.
fast forward to now, and it seems like i've gotten myself into an edit war with a few other editors on hololive in an effort to follow this. now i'm wondering if they're actually strict guidelines for Memetic Mutation or not.
openNot Important: Wanting to recover a Post's information for personal reasons Web Original
Recently on one of the threads I made a post that got Thumped. The post was way too personal for me to make on a public Forum, so there was good reason for it to be Thumped. However, I want to talk with a loved one seriously about the topics of said post, and I organized it in a way that I don't think I could again if I tried. So I want to ask a mod or staff member or someone if it's possible for me to recover the contents of said post somehow. I want to make absolutely clear that I don't plan on reposting the post or even posting on any of the Forums ever again, I just want the contents of the Thumped post to talk about it with someone.
Never mind. It really isn't important and I shouldn't even dare try to ask. It's not like I'm ever going to do anything for this site again anyway.

I know Web Serial Novels go under the Literature namespace, but do they also go under the Literature section in a trope example list?
After all, western animated series and films both go under the Western Animation namespace, but only series go under the Western Animation example section. And comics are separated by print and web.
openHow does one decide when a page should become Spoilers Off Western Animation
Looking at Wreck-It Ralph and on November 17th, 2018, Tropers/Jobyrdthegamerbyrd marked the page as containing unmarked spoilers because of the sequel's (at-the-time imminent) release. They seem to be unsure if doing so is valid ("Don't know if this applies but change it back if it doesn't."), and now so am I.
openWhat is this page?
I recently discovered RTP Style Period Piece Location Shooting. Is this page supposed to be definition-only, or is it a trope in EXTREMELY bad shape?
openAbout Batman Print Comic
Do you think that we should add The Woobie subpage for the Batman franchise? I mean, Gotham is very unforgiving place that is filled with harsh environment and dastardly villains. Batman himself is the Iron Woobie as though he lost his parents to an killer, yet he still presses on and become a Hope Bringer to Gotham. Likewise, Barbara Gordon and Damian Wayne should count as well; as the former was humiliated and crippled by The Joker just to torture her father, and the latter was raised by a mother who is mentally unstable, and a grandfather who is a genocidal maniac. Cassandra Cain, Jim Gordon, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and even Jason Todd are good examples. Heck, it even extends to some in Batman's Rogue Gallery, especially Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze. The latter is in the tropes, Even Evil Has Loved Ones and Tragic Villain for a reason.
Edited by AlexHoskinsopenSour Supporter vs The Knight in Sour Armour
Looking at the pages of both of these character tropes, aren't they essentially the same thing? A cynical character who nevertheless fights for a "good" cause? Shouldn't the pages be merged?
openExcessive trimming of examples?
Lion King Alex has been making some pretty big edits to Characters.Jojos Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders in an attempt at "Trimming the word count down" (as they say in their edit reasons). Some of these involve removing Word Cruft, which is good... but they're mostly trimming down examples that look perfectly fine to me, in ways that makes them less informative overall. This includes removing Pot Holes to relevant pages (like removing a link to Abusive Parents from the words "abusive father").
I sent them a PM asking about this, but they haven't responded, and have actually made another edit like that after having received my message. I'm starting to think a revert might be a good idea.
Edited by ZuxtronopenPossible Biased Edting Live Action TV
Recently, The Remedy 91 has been making edits to Everything's Gonna Be Okay and its YMMV page, and I've noticed that all their edits seem to be going out of their way to paint the series in a negative light. For instance, they describe the main characters as being a Big, Screwed-Up Family, but the family is neither particularly big nor especially screwed up (the trope page defines a BSUF as having alcoholism/drug abuse, incest, evil patriarchs/matriarchs, etc., none of which are present in the Moss Family.) Their addition to the YMMV page calls Matilda a Base-Breaking Character, even as they admit that most of the fanbase likes her, but that "some" don't, and they claim the show has engendered Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy because "some" viewers find it uncomfortable to watch. Am I completely off-base, or does this all seem like Complaining About Shows You Dont Like?
openQuestion about Inactive accounts
Apparently inactive accounts get deleted after a certain time period, but I'm not sure what the time period is. Does anyone know?

Edited by EmeraldSkyopenChanging Trope Name
So, I just launched Rhyming Names, but since trope titles don't usually use plurals, I believe it should have been Rhyming Name. How do I correct this? Thanks.
openEdit Vandal Web Original
VF-25FMessiah blanked this page and its characters sub-page: Super Robot Wars PC
The person responsible for this is a troll with a vendetta against the RP due to being kicked out by the GM and thus has no other reason to sign up other than to enact his petty vengeance.
Edited by countlessinsectopen Queer Romance scope
Should Queer Romance be restricted to works in the romance genre?
Right now, it is "Works that have a same-sex and/or transgender romance as a major theme", which is not necessarily only romance genre works.
If non-romance genre works are included, an alternative approach to the page I could see is soft-splitting them from the romance genre works.
Thoughts?
openZCE checking and advice needed, via PM is okay
Hiya!
Got a PM last week from a Troper saying some of the examples on my Works Site were ZC Es. I've been spending the week since then fleshing them out as best I can, then placing the entries on Tropes Pages. I've read the advice page on how to flesh out ZC Es.
I think I'm ready to go at this point (except for an entry on Shout Outs, which will require its own separate page — haven't started on it yet, but have put a double-% sign before it on the edits page).
When someone has time, could a knowledgeable Troper take a long look at what I've done and make suggestions for changes needed? I already heard from a Troper about my entry for "Vomit Discretion Shot," which I thought was fine but apparently has issues, so I suspect I'll need some help here. Doing this via PM is fine by me.
Works Page is The Bolt Chronicles. Fair warning — it's a long page.
Many thanks!
Edited by BoltDMCopenNo Title Print Comic
Well, print media, anyway.
Question: Fortean Times. British magazine publication, but a previous troper has methodically changed spellings to American English, which doesn't feel right. This isn't snobbishness or insularity: if I were to go to a works page on an American publication and change everything to British English it would look just as odd and "wrong". I don't want to provoke a flame war by changing everything back. But instinctively - if it's a works page on a British subject, it should be in British English. If it's American, American English. And vice versa. What's the ruling on this? Is there a "style guide" to consult?
I thought that TV Tropes was fiction first? Of all places, I thought that this website wouldn't really take a stance or make a statement about real world events like this? They certainly haven't done it before to my knowledge.
