Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

- • Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- • Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.

openA thread for 4kids...
Fighteer said there couldnt be two threads about the same creator...but I did some digging and couldnt find another 4kids thread. Is then okay to ask for a new one to be opened?
openPrerelease Fridge?
- Fridge Horror: The Banished's presence in this game leaves questions as to what happen to the crew of the Spirit of Fire back on the Ark.
It seems premature to add given it could be addressed/answered in the work.
openSudden creation of Works subpage -- question
Spectacular Troper apparently has created dedicated blue-link sub-entries under the Fanworks Laser-Guided Karma trope page for three fanworks, one of which is my own ("The Bolt Chronicles"). As a result, it automatically created a topic subpage on the Works page for my fanfic while leaving the trope entry on that Works page untouched. Two questions:
-is this okay for the troper to do?
-while the Shout-Out entry is indeed large and merits its own subpage on my Works page, I don't think it's needed for Laser-Guided Karma. Regardless, there shouldn't be a full entry for both the trope on the Works page and this subpage. Can I have the subpage cutlisted?

Edited by BoltDMCopenIndexing fridge pages
Okay, so I noticed that Fridge.Pokemon is set up to do indexing for all of the Franchise's fridge pages, but the indexing feature didn't seem to be working properly. I tried about a dozen different things to try to make it work, but they all failed. So I checked this page - a list of indexes in the fridge namespace - to see how some other pages were set up...and it seems like most of them are broken, too. Fridge.RWBY seems to be one of the only ones that actually works, and after going through maybe 20 pages on that list, it seems to be because RWBY's indexed fridge pages are "Fridge Brilliance" and "Fridge Horror", rather than a collection of "Fridge" namespace pages. In other words, it seems like pages in the "Fridge" namespace can't be indexed for some reason - is this an intended feature?
openWhy was "Webcomics of the 2020s" cut? Webcomic
Hi, I just launched a new page called Webcomics of the 2020s. Soon after it was launched, I reloaded the page and it said that it has been cut. Any idea why this would be? There are similar pages for Webcomics of the 2000s and Webcomics of the 2010s, so I'm not sure why there would be an issue with this one.
openIs Little Nuns viable for a work page?
Somewhat related to this ATT thread. There, I expressed interest in creating a Little Nuns Webcomic page, which for those who are unaware, is a small webcomic series hosted on Twitter by Diva. It's officially named as such as announced by this tweet.
However, there are a few questions I would like to ask before proceeding with my plan.
- 1: Is the series even viable to have its own work page despite having no concrete narrative or text?
- 2: None of the characters have official names or even consistent Fan Nicknames, so what do I do when I refer to each character specifically?
- 3: Are still images even tropable to begin with?
openTrope thread question
After I raised a concern regarding The Dog Bites Back on the Is this an Example? thread not too long ago, Synchronicity pointed out to me that it may be worth opening a separate thread for that entry, since the description's very underling-centric (the trope doesn't have to be a strictly underling example) and I brought up my concerns about the description on the Trope Description Improvement Drive.
That said, I have a general question: should we create a new thread to discuss The Dog Bites Back on Short-Term Projects, Trope Talk, etc., or discuss it on the Trope Description Improvement Drive?
Edited by gjjonesopenNo Title
I noticed the other day that Crossover Ship is apparently a YMMV trope. Why? I don't think "the characters in this ship are from different works" is really subjective.
openThat shouldn't be on the main page
I found this trope called Author Usurpation, which is about the audience defining a creator based on one popular work and ignoring or forgetting all the others.
That definitely sounds like it should be YMMV, but there's no such markup on the description. I also found that one example on the main page.
openAre Eve and Jesus count as historical figure?
Yesterday, Auditore 569 added natter to Characters.SCP Foundation The Foundation, it also violate Repair, Don't Respond, so I removed the whole thing (both original entry and their addition) and sent them natter notifier (with url in plain text, I also include Example Indentation in Trope Lists' url too). Here's the removed entry.
- Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: Usually averted, as even the ones we know the identity of (in whatever canon you prefer) are fictional people. The notable exception is O5-2 "The Nazarene." Jesus of Nazareth.
- Wrong. Given the fact that the 05 Council's dossier contains multiple proposals for each 05 number, some also fall into this. Notable is 05-1 "Eve," the first woman, who claims that a) she's Adam's third wife, and not second,(Who the second is, we might never know) b) she's the mother of SCP-073 and SCP-076, and c) that she's not the first woman, but one of the co-leaders of a group of humans who left Eden.
Today, Auditore 569 added this instead.

I thought I might misunderstood Beethoven Was an Alien Spy trope, but the trope is clearly about "historical figure". I'm pretty sure neither of them count. Eve is pretty much mythical figure, and while Jesus might be real, his story in the Bible has enough fantasy element already that become a head of a secret organization is pretty tame).
resolved How do you add the YMMV box in an article?
I know it sounds dumb, but how do you add this box on top of the tropes created that fall in the category of YMMV?
Im kinda new in this site, and I mainly edit the spanish side of TV Tropes. After so many edits in so many pages, I started wondering how to add those boxes so I can put the "neutral" spanish translated tropes in one place, and the "opinions influenced" spanish translated tropes in another.
I was chatting with another troper, and he says that the moderators put them when the trope is created (of course, he was guessing). I dont know how to be a mod, plus I think I dont have enough experience to be a mod, since I created this account in 2017, and only started editing in mid 2020. But also, maybe would be a pain for some mod to put this boxes in every trope we created, and write them in spanish.
Is it possible to add these boxes?
Sorry if my english is broken.
openCreator editing YMMV tab of their mod VideoGame/TheFrontier Videogame
Nazothedark admitted in their edit of The Frontier that they worked on developing the mod, making them a creator. The edit should be reverted in that case right? Unrelated, but given the ALL CAPS nature of their edit, perhaps it's also a hostile one?
Edited by VeryMelonopenAre there banned words/topics? Why is my post not showing up?
I've been trying to post on the "You Know That Show" page to try and figure out the name of a movie I watched. However, over the past 3 days none of my posts seem to be showing up....is there some sort of moderation that goes on here? Why are none of my posts showing up after I click "submit"?
Also the scene in the movie I watched had something relating to incest - is this a banned word on the forum? And now that we're on the topic, what are the rules here? Many thanks guys!
Edited by lilywopenNo Straight Examples, Please!
Should No Straight Examples, Please! be brought to the Trope Repair Shop? After Definition-Only Pages was cleaned to remove everything except OK entries and pages with TRS issues, this is the lowest-quality subpage of Example Sectionectomy.
- A high number of entries qualified as "Banned: Definition-Only" or which are otherwise more suitable for No On-Page Examples or Definition-Only Pages.
- Confusing entries reading, "Banned: none".
- A number of unlisted entries with the warning, such as Hollywood Drowning.

openPoor grammar
No Names Ever has bad grammar in most of their edits. I've already tried sending a notifier.
Edited by MichaelKatsuroopenBad grammar and possible Natter in character page. Live Action TV
So I was in The Killer Bride because I was planning on adding some new examples and I go to character page to check some examples. And it just happen that I see that there are some problems with capitalization and some examples that what I assume is Natter. This page was made by one person named nameusernamenamehere. Should I notified them and is there a grammar cleanup forum?

I want to ask a question. You see, in YMMV.Bug Fables, a troper named Varl edited the entry by shortening it and removing the off-site reference.
Before, it was:
After the edit, it became:
Varl never stated any reason in their edit, so the question is, were they right in shortening the entry and removing the reference, or was it unnecessary?
