Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

openWeb Original Question Web Original
I know we have pages such as WebVideo.Caddicarus and YouTubers but what's the rules on writing about Instagram "celebrities", in line with There Is No Such Thing as Notability, while keeping compliant with the rules?
Does an Instagram user qualify for Web Original? (two have their own websites, not on a social media platform, in addition to her Instagram)
Would they go better in the Creator namespace, since they're referred to mostly by their usernames, not real names?
Edited by Merseyuser1openSeries Actors
Related to the Franchise Actors post before, the Troper who apparently made the unnecessary pages created a separate Series Actors index page. Again, I think it's unnecessary. The Franchise Actors page got it all covered, it's just that not every popular work needs to have an index page. So far the Desperate Housewives and House pages that were already deleted have been recreated.
openAre Internet Slang / Fandom terms counted in Ascended Meme?
For example, one of the characters says phrases like "Git Gud", "Bae" and "Husbando" (to which IMO, originate from the Internet community / fandom and have entries in the Know Your Meme website). Are these examples that can be written under Ascended Meme?
openCursed with Awesome or Blessed with Suck
This guy survived a car crash uninjured because his bone density is eight times higher than average for a man of his age. But because of that he is unable to swim. Does that count as Cursed with Awesome or Blessed with Suck ? https://www.the-scientist.com/notebook-old/the-worlds-densest-bones-47155

ludditetolpuddle doesn't appear to Wiki Word work names properly. Looking at their last few updates, they all have this problem.
History: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/el.php?findfor=ludditetolpuddle
I could use a hand with cleanup, and they could probably use a tutorial on formatting.
Edit: Their updates go back years and a glance at a handful of them suggests they never learned to format correctly.
Edited by bitemytailopenAmerican names Anime
The Doraemon page, its subpages, and many of the crosswicks use the Japanese names of the characters, but their English names are different. Should we change all uses of the names to their English versions (Nobita to Noby, Gian to Big G, Suneo to Sneech, Shizuka to Sue) or would that take way too much work?
Edit: Can we try to stay on-topic to the Doraemon page? This is not a discussion about Case Closed or Glitter Force, it's about Doraemon.
Edited by Mickoonsley19openHotGuyUglyWife
I believe it's being misused in Why Did I Get Married?: I feel that it's a narrative that only makes sense if it's acknowledged in universe or if the story supports it between the mentioned couple (Troy and Sheila); the person who keeps inserting it believes that it applies even though Shelia is merely fat and constantly insulted by only her (eventual) ex-husband, Mike and even said themselves in their rationalizing that the character is NOT ugly, just fat. Should it stay or remain deleted?
openHow long to wait on a crowner
How long should I wait before ending a crowner? I have one for the title of my TLP draft, All Bats Are Bloodsuckers. How long would be good to wait before collecting the results?
openShould we rename the stock phrases?
A Stock Phrase is no longer a trope, but can we rename tropes with dialogue-y names? For example, I Can't Feel My Legs! means "when characters complain of numb legs, they soon will be in trouble", so maybe it could be renamed Numb Legs Spell Doom?
openTroper n3rd_d4sh
TV Tropes front page is now highlighting a very badly written works page —
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WesternAnimationCliffSide
n3rd_d4sh not only didn't use the correct name space & put this page in Main, but also is venting over not getting any help in the forums on the page.

openIs it necessary to send more than one indentation issues pm?
So, I noticed that some of the edits by the troper Storygirl 000 have indentation issues. I sent them a notifier for one of them, but do I have to send them one for all the problematic edits?
openThe Woobie and Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds
The Woobie is a YMMV trope. Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds is its subtrope. Why the latter isn't considered YMMV?
openWhy are BaseBreakingCharacter and TheScrappy treated as mutually exclusive tropes here?
Question is in the title. And for that matter, why are Ensemble Dark Horse and Base-Breaking Character considered mutually exclusive? I mean, Base-Breaking Character is about a character that is hated by one half of the fandom and loved by the other. The Scrappy is about a character hated by a large margin of the fandom. I dunno about anybody else, but by my definition half a fandom IS a pretty darn large amount of fans. Hell, in the laconic description of Base-Breaking Character it literally says "Some think they're awesome, some think they're The Scrappy."
So please explain this to me.
openNo Title
Has there been a case a non-Scrappy character is replaced and the newcomer is the Scrappy but is rescued from the Scrappy Heap and the original comes back and people liked the replacement so much more that the original becomes the Scrappy even though he was not originally (and maybe even was a fan favorite in beginning.)
openCan a trope be played up to eleven?
The Playing With Wiki main page says it can't, but Up To Eleven is on the list in the example on the Subverted Trope page.
open Roald Dahl
While I tried to send the Trivia page on Roald Dahl to the Cut List, I unintentionally sent the Creator page to that list. Is there any way that mistake can be fixed up? Thanks.
Edited by gjjonesopenOn AmbiguousDisorder
On Ambiguous Disorder, you're not supposed to speculate what disorder characters could have, right? Even on Characters pages? You're just supposed to list symptoms. I was going to clean up some examples on Character pages, but I want to make sure first.
openNamespace question
I want to make a page for Max Landis' 746-page Super Mario World script but am unsure what namespace it would go under. I was thinking Fanfic/ but am not entirely sure.
For those who are unaware, tropers use the term Data Vampires to refer to the accidental, or unpredictable situations wherein not all of the entire page gets published. Or in other words, a large part of the page gets cut as soon as you submit an edit. On the eyes of the other tropers, it would seem like you suddenly became a troll who deleted lots of lines in the page.
That being said, I experienced this again when editing the Odin Sphere Characters page where about 50% of the page (its lower half) was accidentally deleted after I made some simple edits. I immediately went to the History page and copied the entire block of code that was deleted and made another edit restoring the content.
To those who have experienced this before, do you know what are the causes of these situations? Or do you know how to avoid them in the first place? How would I know if the site would fail to publish everything from the editor? I fear that during my time in editing works, I may have unknowingly removed large portions of the pages.
