Hi, I'm new to all of this, so I hope I'm doing it correctly. But there is a user, Logan Light, who is going around on some of the Fan Work pages for Miraculous Ladybug (specifically Leave for Mendeleiev, Nice Guy Adrien and LadyBugOut) and vandalizing the main pages just because they don't like the way one of the characters is written. Sometimes, the entries will even pop up with the icon to say "belongs on YMMV". I've edited it a few times, but I'm afraid he's just going to keep coming back and mess with the page. I don't really care if he doesn't like the way the character is handled, but he should at least put that stuff in the right page. (especially because a few times, it sounds like he was trying to drag the authors).

openDoes my entry have too much word cruft in it, or might be a bit too emotionally biased? Videogame
I've remade the Half-Quake entry over in Video Games, due to the entry I made before that being way too-run on and inconsisntent. I want to make sure I'm avoiding word-cruft and overly emotionally-charged content. Here's the entry I made so that way if there's any errors I've made, either regarding typos or not following the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment, it'll be here and not in some awkward place.
- The Half-Life mod trilogy "Halfquake", can be very difficult to sit through due to it's bleak message of "Life makes no sense, and you may as well just kill yourself" it tells you from the get-go, as well as it's murky-gray visuals after the first part. However, each of the three mods themselves carry varying degrees of overwhelming darkness that can be difficult to sit though just by themselves:
- The first mod, HalfQuake, stands as the least darkest part of the trilogy, but that really isn't saying much considering that you won't see much of anything that isn't either an enemy, concrete and/or steel, or lava. It also happens to be the only part of the trilogy that gives you a HUD, as well as the classic run/gun action of the first Half-Life game. The fact that throughout the mod, you can't escape the facility is made rather clear in a section where you sneak through the backrooms and into a house, only to be dumped right back into the trap-laden path uncerimoniously with a message aptly saying "you cannot escape, dumbass (sic)". You also end up getting killed right after you defeat the boss of the mod, Somos, which is also how the other two parts end as well.
- The second part, Halfquake: Amen, takes a swan-dive right into darkness as well as dump most of anything related to conventional FP Ses out the window. Most of the time spent throughout Amen will be either though the life or death chambers, semi-lonely atmospheric enviorments, or deadly traps/puzzles the first game uses. Whilst the captors in the first game made humourously dark remarks about the situation you're in, Amen ramps up the "dark" part, but not the "humorous", leaving you to deal with cruel and unpleasant people after cruel and unpleasant people. Amen also provides music for some of the parts you'll be going through (including an ending song, "Half-Quake Theme), the songs themselves rather downbeat, both in music and lyrical content.
- The third entry in the series, Sunrise, gameplay-wise, is where the series really starts to become an exersise in futility, the deadly puzzles and trap-laden hallways really starting to ramp up in this iteration. The few splashes of color that the previous two games had, aside from camoes near the end, are now entirely gone, save for a really, really light blue. Story-wise, aside from the final boss and a few disembodied voices, there's no NP Cs to interact with in Sunrise at all, your only form of breaking this sheer emptiness being a "Victim Message Box", which introduces to the only 3 people you'll be hearing from consistently throughout the mod: A guy voice who wants you dead and taunts you, a crazed man rambling about a cogwheel named "Mary", and getting angry at you when you're unable to find her (not that any cogwheels you can grab appear in the mod), and a lady who really hates you and wants you dead. The pitch-black atmosphere of Amen is also present as ever here, and doesn't stop for any moments of levity.
- Half Quake's spinoff, "Personal Halfquake", is directly based on Amen and a bit of the original Half_Quake, as well as having updated to support some of Sunrise, and it proves to be just as dark as the main game. Most of the game is spent stealing people from what's implied to be places that haven't done any wrong, and placing them in similarly made trap-laden hallways the Half-Quake trilogy features. Most of the places you go to are all managed by slaves, who have either been broken beyond repair, or are jerks who loathe your guts. The "Chosen Victim" mechanic involves kidnapping one of your victims, and inducing Stockholm Syndrome in them, allowing you to do paticularly cruel things to them.
openGuy posting weird WMGs with poor grammar.
There's this guy called Jesse220 who seems to have some weird problems in his editing style: he only edits WMG pages, but they have horrible grammar (though I've now sent him a PM about that) and several tend to read more like rambling, grimdark fanfiction plots (with death, terrorism and mass-murder completely unfitting the series he's guessing for) than anything that could reasonably resemble a theory. I noticed these main problems when he added to The Simpsons, and took a look into his edit history to see some really weird edits for Ben 10, Spider-Man, Sekirei and plenty of others.
Edited by N8han11openWe'd need a standard for spell titles.
A little something that is bugging me: for troping fantasy series that have spells (or other powers) with distinct names, there is a notable lack of standard about how to format them.
Note that some games (like D&D) do have some standard (the SRD, for example, uses italics and no capitalizations) and tropers used to such systems often transcribe them when writing examples, however those formats can vary from game to game, and even from edition to edition, and may conflict with our own Text-Formatting Rules.
Indeed, putting spell titles in italics is problematic since on this wiki, those are for work titles. Quotes may looks better, but again here it is used for short works and episode titles.
And also, should spells be capitalized or not?
Edited by StFanopenCharacter redirects broken
There's a glitch going on regarding the Shrek series character pages. Normally, they're all supposed to redirect to Characters.Shrek (which appears to be broken since it's red even though it goes to a functional page), but the redirect mechanic appears to be broken so it just hangs on a [[redirect:Shrek]]. Courtesy links: Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, Shrek Forever After.
EDIT: Ignore this, solved.

Why does Theme Pairing have no examples? Looking at the page, the examples were moved to Troper Tales and never brought back once the page was deleted. I don't see why it can't have citated examples like Crack Pairing or Crossover Couple.

Was asking for the origin of the I Need a Freaking Drink example, in the thread for the show, for Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which is currently ZCE, whose origin I can't find:
- "It's always hard being a grown up. That's what alcohol's for."
It appears that's one translation of 14:45 or so onwards, from Episode 6:
https://www.crunchyroll.com/puella-magi-madoka-magica/episode-6-this-just-cant-be-right-591745
... Aniplex has the translation as:
- Oh, us adults are always in pain. That's why we're allowed to drink alcohol!
While our Funny.Puella Magi Madoka Magica has it as:
- "Sometimes being an adult can really suck. That's why we're allowed to drink alcohol!"
What do I use, and why?
I'm also not sure if the translation / wording changes between the show and movie versions of the scene.
Also not sure if I should just transcribe the Japanese and list possible translations.

openTrope description better suited for Analysis?
The description of Brain Uploading has a long list (over a dozen bullet points) of various legal/moral questions that might be addressed when the trope is in play. While it does relate to how the trope can play out, it's also very long and ultimately superfluous to understanding the trope. Would it be alright to move all of them over to Analysis/BrainUploading?

This is weird.
[[strike]]Back in June, I removed an example of Designated Villain with the justification that the listed character, Ward from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., was still an unrepentant murderer and traitor.[[/strike]]
[[strike]]I found out that about a month ago, futuremoviewrited added him back without a reason. How did I find this out? They pmed me today complaining about the deletion.[[/strike]]
Okay bizarness cleared up, here's what really happened without my stupidity: futuremoviewriter wrote a Designated Villain entry and a Protagonist-Centered Morality entry for Ward back in September. I removed the entry in Protagonist-Centered Morality, but didn't learn that there was another one in Designated Villain until I was pmed today.

From YMMV.Young Justice
They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character
- Halo/Violet being from multiple minority groups (being Muslim, nonbinary, possibly bisexual). While the effort to represent minority groups in the show is appreciated, it's also been criticized that her depiction isn't accurate of the experiences of these groups (namely, whether or not should she be wearing a hijab since Violet doesn't actually observe Islam and she's only wearing it because it was what she was comfortable with as Gabrielle and if the subject of her wearing a hijab is even enough for her to be considered Muslim representation — and it seems to have been relinquished as of "Early Warning" because she wanted to try drinking; whether or not her nonbinary identity is sufficient enough representation after it was only brought up in one conversation; the stereotypical portrayal of her exploring her sexuality in "Early Warning") as well as the fact that she's the only character in the show who carries all these traits as opposed to having multiple characters in these minority groups too, which makes it seem like she's a checklist for diversity points instead of showing Halo consider her identity in-depth besides not being Gabrielle.
I always had issues with this trope since its often use for "character wasn't use this way" then "this character wasn't use effectively"
- LGBT Fanbase: LGBT+ viewers weren't pleased with the show's attempt at featuring bisexual characters in "Early Warning" (Violet and Harper kissing), due to how it perpetuates several negative stereotypes surrounding LGBT+ people (both characters have boyfriends, which suggests that LGBT+ folks are promiscuous/cheaters; both characters were drunk and only experimenting with same-sex attraction, which paints being LGBT+ as a fun party game and nothing serious; the latter character didn't ask for the former's consent, which feeds into stereotype about sexual predators are also gay; this also happens during a funeral that one of them should be attending, which just makes them look disrespectful), and that's only half of what makes that scene controversial.
Im pretty sure this is use for a show that has a LGBT fanbase and not to put negative Portrayal of it. If there actually is one.
