Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

[up] Only if they try insisting in-universe she can fight. Like if they show her holding a sword and standing ready for battle...only to get instantly knocked off her feet or do absolutely nothing in the movie.

On Side Effects Include..., the Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines example is wicked to Main.World Of Darkness. Please change the wick to TabletopGame.Old World Of Darkness. (There are no folders; it is about 2/3 of the way down the page.)

New markup:

Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines features a cigarette warning with side effects including "jock itch", "alien invasion" and "the death of cute little puppies".

I changed it to Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines instead since the game has it's own page.

  • On The Irate Gamer, please add an invoked tag on the I Am Not Shazam examples since they are in-work but currently showing a red bullet of doom.

  • On My Immortal, please remove the Completely Missing the Point entry since the trope was renamed and it's not a "comically" example.

In The Lonely Island page:

  • Similarly, "Like a Boss" deals with the day of a boss. Most of the earlier stuff is fairly mundane boss stuff (workshops, birthdays, synergy), then after a failed suicide attempt, degenerates into scoring coke, crashing his car, self-fellating, eating chicken strips, self-castration, having sex with a giant fish in a sewer, turning into a jet and bombing Russia, and finally crashing into the sun and dying. On a daily basis.

The Pot Hole should be Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking, as it refers to a mundane event in a long line of disturbing ones.

OK, so I rarely post on this bit of the site, but please can someone remove this from the web original section of Streisand Effect:

Specialist traffic-design software Key SIGN and Sign PLOT, as well as Auto Desk's Auto CAD, came to attention here, here, here in 2010, and via Facebook in 2009 and, unbelievably, Twitter in mid-2011, giving it Memetic Mutation status. All this for what was, originally when created, intended for council use, but now, it's popular with people who DON'T work in the traffic signing industry. Perhaps this is due to the craze for using Photoshop.

The links aren't relevant to the context, and it's a duplicate of what's already in Periphery Demographic anyway.

1733 and 1738: Changes made. Deboss, Eddie has said he's considering a mechanism by which Troper pages can only be edited by the troper themselves, avoiding the need for locks. I don't know if/when that will be done.
1735: Done.
1736: Done.

Regarding The Lonely IslandMusic. The Lonely Island is not locked. Go ahead and copy the markup and do the rest of the work to move the page. Make any edits you deem necessary. Let me know when it's finished and I will lock the new article and redirect the old one.

I think they know it's not locked. Isn't it better form for a mod to move it and then immediately lock the new page? I'm sure someone else said that.

Two for Pokegirls. Pretty fucked up, yes, but then again, it's a pretty fucked up setting.

  • Baby Factory: The fate of a great number of Pokegirls, plus anyone unfortunate enough to get a prison sentence in the After Sukebe world. See Child by Rape below.

  • People Farms: Pokegirl breeding farms (for both humans and Pokegirls, due to the reproductive weirdnesses imposed by Sukebe), as well as the After Sukebe penal system. Neither are known for their high ethical standards.

What's precedent ever done for us?

[up] Did that and moved Les Yay to YMMV.

[up][up] I think we can trust the people in this thread not to turn the article into another meme-laden mess in the brief period needed to move it.

I just created a page called Jacob and Esau. It needs to be added to the Bible page under both Trope Namer and Provides Examples Of.

More wick movements from TV Tropes The TV Show. Change Torchwood to Series/ on Episode Idea Bin, Monster Of The Week Bin and Proposed Recurring Fictites.

Also, I know the project's on hiatus, but is it fine to reword a tiny factual detail in Monster Of The Week Bin's Cell 114 section? The bits about "humans" should probably be made planet-neutral (i.e. "ordinary members of the native species" and "leaving the original personality with no memory" vs. "ordinary humans" and "leaving the human personality with no memory") to keep consistency with the paragraph and make it clear that the cell's invasion is of more than just Earth.

On The Irate Gamer, can someone please move the Seinfeld Is Unfunny example from YMMV to the main page and add an [invoked] or in-universe tag? The example listed is in-universe, so it shouldn't be on YMMV.

I've got two long-waiting edit requests:

We are not really interested in bashing authors or complaining about their works. Just don't do it.

Critiquing a show is fine, as long as it stays in the Review section.
