Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

I cleaned some YMMV items off of the main page for Outnumbered, but the YMMV page is locked, so I can't move them there. Here they are:

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Karen is very popular due to her persistent questions, Literal-Minded way of thinking and odd Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant moments.
  • Iron Woobie: Sue and Karen. The former in Season 2 and a small bit of 3, the latter in 4 when she's stuck trying to impress a group of friends led by a manipulative Rich Bitch.
  • Jerkass Woobie: How do you make Angela sympathetic again after what she's done? Have her new husband turn out to be violently abusive to both her and to their kids, who now serve as her Morality Pets.
    • Jake and Grandad fit more under "Jerk With A Heart of Gold Woobie". The former struggles with girls and clearly struggles to get out of his parents shadow. The latter has senile dementia and was abandoned by Angela.
  • Moral Event Horizon: When Angela abandons her father to go back to travelling in the US.
    • Brick abusing Angela and threatening her via his solicitors is also pretty low, even if she is really bitchy. It's revealed he locked his eldest in their room for hours at a time and had his first wife committed too.
  • The Woobie: Alexa, the daughter of Jane. Stuck in a messy argument between an angry and implied to be abusive father and her mum, who is too eager to share her problems with others and can't get her act together.
    • Sue rockets into this status at the end of Season 1 and throughout Season 2 due to Angela's behaviour and her dad's deteriorating condition.
    • There are a few offscreen ones too. Karen's friend Maisy suffers from an abusive father who's implied to have tried entering her house.
    • Season 4 turns all of Brick's children into these.

SIDE NOTE: There was also a Memetic Mutation entry, but I left that out because it was an X Just X that didn't say what the meme actually was.

Welcome To TV Tropes has a typo in the "Creating Redirects" section. Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuuutsu has a third "u" that shouldn't be there—the correct spelling is Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Hi, I'd like to edit The Bible (particularly the Arc Number section for Forty) to read:

  • Forty—First appears as the number of days and nights it rained during the deluge; among other things the number of years that the Israelites roamed through the desert.
    • Commonly used in the Bible and other ancient Near Eastern literature as flowery shorthand for "a long time".

The Double Standard edit has not happened yet. Is this because the mods are super busy and haven't gotten to it (considering the various backlogs, and holidays), or was my request rejected for some reason?

Anyway, Nietzsche Wannabe needs to have its Older Than Dirt wick removed as well. Since that index was redefined to cut off at 800 BC, Achilles / The Iliad no longer counts as Older Than Dirt.

EDIT: The wick is 4th from the bottom of the Literature folder. The name Achilles is also italicized by mistake.

[up]The mods haven't been responding to this thread lately; it's likely because of the holidays.

  • Septimus Heap: SA link fixed
  • Arcades Sabboth: In the future it would help if you would link to the sandbox page or just put the edit you wanted in the post rather than sending me to two different pages to make the edit.
  • My Timing Is Off: moved
  • troacctid: u removed.
  • Zernik: Not going to add third level Natter, edited your example to avoid that.

The mods have been busy as hell. Thank you for your patience.

Please edit Literature. The Bible to remove the Older Than Dirt wick. That index was redefined to remove the confusing situation of having half the Bible in one index and half in another.

The relevant change has been made, to the last paragraph above the trope lists, of Sandbox. The Bible.

Old version:
One of the Trope Makers; tropes that appear in it are by definition Older Than Feudalism (or Older Than Dirt if they occur in portions of the first five books of the Old Testament).

New version:
One of the Trope Makers; tropes that appear in it are by definition Older Than Feudalism. While some parts of the Old Testament may be somewhat older than 800 BCE, it would be very confusing to try to sort tropes into multiple indexes based on which book and verse they came from.

Thank you.

One for Camacan: Your Troper page contains ptitle markup that needs to be changed to Wiki Word links, since we're trying to get rid of it completely (the markup, not your Troper page).

Can the other mods also look at their pages and make sure they have removed ptitle markup from their Troper pages, as well. Thank you.

Just noticed a typo in the last paragraph on the Wall Banger page-

"Examples within the following pages will be highly subjective. Read at your own risk, and if somebody rants about a show you like, please refrain from making Justifying Edits. If they're facts are wrong, just delete them. Also, please try to avoid mentioning pilot episodes, as they are the beginning points and most of the time viewers will end up thinking they can be improved later in the series. Various examples may deal with endings or key moments of the shows, so expect spoilers. One more thing before editing: Absolutely No Real Life Examples, Please."

Should probably be "[...] If their facts are wrong[...]"

[up]That's not the last of it. The "related-to" page still hasn't been fixed, and therefore it's still not showing wicks for pages that haven't been edited since the page was initially cut.

There's a typo in TVTropesTheTVShow.Proposed Recurring Fictites. Instead of "Like [[series/DoctorWho The Master]], Artemis has worked and is still working...", it should be "Like [[Series/DoctorWho the Master]]...", with a lowercase t.
