Roleplay Namespace Cleanup and Maintenance

I vote cut, it's not worth the effort of moving.

Yeah, even using a regular Google Search(as our site's google searching is... less than useful now. I missed the old topic search function) is giving me nothing of use. Apparently it was even in Unpublished Works at some point.

I'm with kill it too.

Okay, gonna clear my head with some more B's cleanup:

• Bleach New Horizons: Website is unavailable, page needed cleanup, however it managed to have three good tropes on the page.
• Bleach Online World: Needed cleanup, otherwise fine.
• Bleach Platinum Hearts: Website is gone and the page is a mess of ZCEs, indenation, first-person, recent examples, bad grammar, trope misuse... Cleaned the best I could.
• Bleach The World: Needs cleanup. Character page is odd; claims it was split by race, but only one of those pages is a bluelink, Characters.Bleach The World Arrancar. Not much point in keeping that one, so moved tropes and cutlisted.
• Blood Aspirations: Yay, more ZCE issues and recent language, ahoy!...also, the page was made preemptively, but I found the Tumblr page and it hasn't been posted on since 2018, but...it's something. It also needs an index.
• Blood Reflections: The forums are in "maintenance mode", so I can't access the RP itself. Page needed cleanup as per usual.
• BotR2: Feels the need to present us with a mega-list of rules and information, but couldn't be bothered to have a link to the RP itself. Should I cut the information? I'll leave it for now.
• Bounty Hunter Inn: First paragraph seemed to be gushing, so I chopped it, in addition to regular cleanup.
• Bounty Hunters of the Apocalypse: No link to RP, and Google isn't helping, However one of the editors is still active so I'll ping them for help. Otherwise, cleanup ahoy! (~Firock Finon, please help!)

• Bouvet Island: Has only two non-ZCE trope. Cutlisting.
• Brand New Days: ZCEs galore, but enough tropes to keep the page.
• Brave New World: An AU Pokémon RP: Moar ZCEs. Cleaned.
• Brilliant Despair A Heartbreaking Voyage Through A Deceptive Sea: Already discussed, page is in okay condition.
• Broadwaydespair: And we return to our regularly scheduled Daganronpa ZCE fest. With no link. Characters page links tropes like they're hyperlinks, but it's being cut anyway so it's not a big deal. With some searching, I found the roleplay. Link added.
• Brookhaven Academy: More Zero-Context Examples, more link-finding. Needs an index, needed serious cleanup.
• Bullet Dimension: Absolute stub. Easy cutlist.
• Bullet Time: Stub, but has some good tropes, so it'll stay. I'm also making it spoiler off, since...I mean, wow. Well, after my edit, it's much bigger.
• Butterfly Crossing: Stub, not enough tropes on character's page or main page to justify keeping- and those are the ones not commented out! Been around for so long the history doesn't show the creation, so it's a safe cut.
• B Zp B: No link to the work, but does have a link to the wiki with... a ton of information in it. Page needed basic cleanup.
• BZPRPG: Large page, thanks to the massive description. Needs cleanup, but I don't have the time at the moment. Also has three character pages, but one is a stub that I cutlisted. The others need to either be cleaned or to have tropes moved over.

...And that ends the B's.

I haven't looked into those yet, but they all seem to be private Discord or Tumblr-based Danganronpa roleplays. Might explain why there seem to be so many. Some are way more detailed than others, suggesting they're the work of different editors who copied and pasted from the same "base" trope list. I don't know.

Since two of you can't do any editing for a while, you can help me!

Oof. That's...certainly something.

It wouldn’t surprise me if there was a core group of players going through multiple DR roleplays, given the nature of Dangan Ronpa- you play until the Deadly Game whittles down the cast or they solve the mystery, then make up a new bunch of Sailor Earths to plug into a different setting. Just from what I’ve seen, one player will usually have a handful of DR characters on standby for when a setting is available to use them. The DR fandom on Tumblr is huge, and the Journal Roleplay format makes it easy to mix-and-match characters with settings.

I also remember editing one of the DR roleplay character pages and it saying the RP contained references to Doubt Academy, a different DR roleplay, which furthers the implication that the playerbases are connected.

At least some of these roleplays are publicly available- Aces and Spades, All Aboard, Doubt Academy, and MAHOU Project have all been cleared already. I can help investigate the rest of the list after I’ve had dinner.

Ohh. That might explain it. I do see now that the 5-ish pages I checked with character sheets have unique characters.

Although they really shouldn't be copy and pasting trope lists wholesale.

This is bizarre indeed, and yet another complication to our efforts.

Though, it is a bit reminiscent of what I've been dealing with DarthWiki.The Spectacular Gargoyles and DarthWiki.The Spectacular Omniverse pages, where they had some separate character pages for both that were essentially identical. I was able to clean up the "Omniverse" one last week, but had to take a break for a while upon seeing that "Gargoyles" had 20 character sheets or so, and all of them had to be merged into DarthWiki. (And that's on top of more common things like ZCEs and their strange fondness for using WMG for all headings, instead of the accepted !! or !!!.) I put it the extra mile and even checked which of those links were still available on the Internet Archive. (Less than half.)

The Gargoyles is done now too. I probably won't be doing a whole lot for now as well, due to real-life circumstances.

Alright, here’s my research on the Dangan Roleplays.

And here’s what all this tells us:

• Doubt Academy is popular.
• The majority of the above roleplay pages were created by either Audinary or hewwo-grandpa, or by editors who have edited the pages that they’ve made, which would explain the similarities in phrasing.
• Pages created and primarily curated by hewwo-grandpa- Disaster Duel, DR Al Forno, DR Delusium, Heaven On Lockdown, and SOSOS- are all on Discord with no publicly viewable content.
• Interesting thing about Exec Save Them’s edit history; originally, Audinary had originally written it as a page for Kings Game before rectifying their mistake. This likely indicates that the various pages created by Audinary are using the same general template.
• Apart from the above, there’s not much to glean. There’s a large overlap in roleplayers for each RP, but that’s unsurprising; roleplayers tends to stick in groups even before you factor in that these are all for one fandom on one site. The roleplays themselves are all distinct from each other- different plots, settings, and characters, just with the same players in many cases. That the pages are similarly written, likely working off a template, isn’t something I’d say is itself a problem- the issue is that some of the examples are ZCE or too general as a result.

If they are private, they don't get TV Tropes articles, period.

After we remove the Discord ones, how many valid roleplays are left?

I don't think they can move the other Discord-related ones over to Unpublished Works, right?

Of the 20 Tabs listed, 15 are publicly viewable. The remaining five are the ones exclusively on Discord.

Some private RP’s have been moved to Darth Wiki, some have been deleted. I favour moving them to Darth Wiki so long as the page in question has enough legitimate tropes. Existing on the internet but only being privately-available isn’t all that different from ‘existing only on a hard drive or in someone's head’ like it states on the Unpublished Works page.

Wait, did we already decide to cut the Discord-based ones named above? (Just looked a few new cutlist entries.) I personally support the DarthWiki option, as private works can eventually get moved to public, etc.

Either is fine with me. Cutting saves us work, but I also see the value of saving content.

The five that whizzerd couldn't find links for are on Darth Wiki. I forgot to do so with Wistful Wishers before it was cut.

I saw this ATT query, and DarthWiki.D 20 Rebirth was created on the grounds that it's an Unpublished Work, but TabletopGame.D 20 Rebirth is nearly identical, and that page is older. Has it come up in this thread? The TabletopGame/ page doesn't appear to have been cutlisted, and I'm hesitant to cutlist it myself without getting input.

Edit: It looks like it actually has been cutlisted. It's just further down the list, so I didn't notice it when I originally posted this.
