"There’s no comparin', while we despairin’, under the sea!"

"...So, what’s the occasion? Surprise birthday party?"
Kurimu Kouri, Super High School Level Ice Cream Maker.

Deluge of Despair is a Tumblr Roleplay Group based on the Danganronpa series of visual novels. It takes place inside a large submarine, where sixteen upcoming Super High School Level students have been apparently kidnapped and forced into a Mutual Killing Game at the bottom of the sea.

The official cast list was released on October 6th, 2016 (found here) and the roleplay is currently into their prologue.

Deluge of Despair includes these Tropes:

  • Amateur Sleuth: All of the students. As far as it is known, at least.
  • Clear Their Name: Happens whenever somebody is accused of the crime and fights the charges, or when their friends do their best to help them. Of course, the question of whether or not they're actually guilty is very real...
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: The executions, which are tailor-made for each culprit. Usually, they either mock their Super High School Level talent or exploit their deepest fears, ensuring their punishment is as terrifying as possible. Occasionally, a murder victim also dies in a particularly horrible manner.
  • Developing Doomed Characters: That's most of the characters. Good luck figuring out which ones they are before they die. They currently consist of no one...yet.
  • Dysfunction Junction: With sixteen different characters, it's to be expected that something like this would happen. To what extent depends on the character in question...and the person playing them.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Often, relationships are formed due to the stress everyone is put under and the bonds created thusly.
  • Hostile Show Takeover: Though there wasn't a show to takeover in the first place, the S.S. Parker itself appears to have been subjected to this.
  • Teen Genius: All the students to some extent. They got accepted into Hope's Peak for being the best in their age bracket at what they do. Except for Nadia, whose talent is the Super High School Level Luck.
  • Tonight, Someone Dies: Whenever a murder is committed. It may even happen outside of the norm, should anyone make the mistake of breaking a rule.
  • Translation Convention: All characters are presumed to be speaking Japanese unless otherwise noted, even though the game is written in English.
  • Win Your Freedom: The students win by identifying the mastermind. A killer wins by getting away with a murder. The mastermind's current victory condition is unknown, though it is likely 'never be identified'.
