8/1? Heh, my birthday. Haven't seen anything of Stranger Things 4 yet, but I could tell Nancy and Robin were gonna get more scenes together and that means getting shipped to Hell in the process. Haha.

• Code Geass: Post-series, the creators did their best to dismiss the Lelouch/C.C. ship. Fans of Lulu/CC persist because the pair, a Chessmaster Byronic Hero and a Mysterious Waif Broken Bird, complemented each other very well - so well that a vast majority of the show's art, both fan- and official, puts Lelouch with C.C. rather than Kallen or Shirley. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection resulted in much rejoicing because it created an alternate timeline where Lulu/CC is canon.
  • And when it comes to slash ships, Lelouch/Suzaku is the most famous and has the most fan material. It helps that the creators and marketing team caught on to this and released quite a lot of homoerotic official products of them.

Maybe I am missing something but where is the creator preferred pairing?

Kallen and Shirley, though the entry as written doesn't make it too clear. Shirley being the initial ship until she's killed off, and Kallen being the final one.

Again, for Voltron, do we want to add this rewrite:

• Keith and Lance in Voltron: Legendary Defender is far more popular than the canon Lance/Allura. Something like half of all Voltron fics on AO3 are these two getting together. Its only real competition is Shiro and Keith (which, though just as non-canon, also outstrips all other pairings by a pretty wide margin). They've had varying levels of Ho Yay throughout the show, but that's about it. This even earned the fandom a somewhat cold reception when Klance outtrended fellow red-and-blue gay pairing Rupphire on Tumblr, on the week that the latter pairing got married. This was emphasized in later seasons with the lion switch, where Keith becomes the leader and Lance becomes his right hand man. There is also preference from the fans due to the writers noting that they had influence from Macross, an anime with a famous Love Triangle. As of the end of the series, though, it's still non-canon.

Or the one from the YMMV page:

• Fan-Preferred Couple: In Eastern fandoms the most popular ship is Shiro/Keith, despite Shiro being ultimately paired with Curtis, whereas in the West, due to heavy Ship-to-Ship Combat, the most popular pairing is Keith/Lance which overshadows Allura/Lance.

Or just make a new one for Shiro and Keith as listing them together would probably be weird as they only share one character in common.

I've really said all I can about Voltron at this point in time.

Yeah, probably not a bad idea to split Shiro and Lance into two distinct entries.

Here's my Alex/Ellen rewrite:

• Family Ties: Alex Keaton's pairing with his first big love Ellen Reed continues being far more intensely popular with the fandom than his pairing with his endgame love interest Lauren Miller was. Fans ultimately thought the chemistry was way better between Alex and Ellen with a big part of that being that Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan met on set, fell in love and got married in real life. Another is that most fans didn't real seemed interested in Lauren either, even with a young Courteney Cox playing her.

Okay so here is my attempted Voltron tree:

• Voltron: Legendary Defender has Keith/Lance and Keith/Shiro competing for the place as biggest ship depending on what part of the world you live in:

I'd probably trim it down and focus less on the justification, just because the Klance fandom is infamously conspiratorial and harassment-happy including towards show staff, even years after the show concluded, and would see it as a kind of validation for it.

So awhile back I removed this from YMMV.Sleepy Hollow for not mentioning a creator preferred one:

• Fan-Preferred Couple:
  • Ichabod and Abbie.
    • Fans of this ship practically exploded with Squee after Tom Mison gave an interview in which he said that Ichabod was completely in love with Abbie.
  • After "Necromancer," a lot of fans are shipping Jenny and Irving.

However getting myself more familiar with the show and while I can't find a creator preferred one for the second one, here is my attempted Ichabod/Abbie rewrite after finding a creator preferred one:

• Sleepy Hollow: Ichabod/Abbie is easily the most popular ship in the fandom, overshadowing the canon Ichabod/Katrina and any of Abbie's canon romances. This is mainly due to the chemistry between their actors and the fact that their friendship is the focus of the the first three seasons. Fans of this ship practically exploded with Squee after Tom Mison (Ichabod's actor) gave an interview in which he said that Ichabod was completely in love with Abbie. These fans did not take it well when Abbie was killed off in the Season 3 finale.

Don't really have opinions on the Sleepy Hollow show. Haven't watched it.

future: What does having watched have to do with telling me if it is a good rewrite or not? I haven't seen a lot of things. I can still when a write up is good even if I haven't seen the work.

  • Nikki/Harry is by far the most popular pairing. It's helped by the massive amounts of Unresolved Sexual Tension and Ship Tease between the two (and the fact all their other love interests are derailed in one way or another).
  • The Nikki and Jack ship is starting to pick up steam as well. It's popularity began to rise around Series 19 and has only increased after the events of Series 20's final two episodes.

Okay the first one sounds creator preferred especially since the fact that going by the pothole none of their other love interests seem creator preferred. Her and Jack also seem more popular but that could be due to being more recent. Unless someone more familiar can give me an actual creator preferred one. I am leaning cut.

• Fan-Preferred Couple:
  • If you look on Fanfiction.Net, Deviant Art or any other poll site, you'll probably notice that Shizuo/Izaya is the most popular. Doesn't help with the Ship Tease that Narita gives to bait the fangirls.
  • The most popular ship with Mikado seems to be Izaya/Mikado. Either because of how Izaya gets paired with mostly everyone, because of the subtext they have in the novels, or both. In japanese DRRR fandom, it might actually be the second popular ship with Izaya after Shizaya.
  • At least on Pixiv, Yoshimune is usually shipped with Izaya or Shizuo.

Okay none of these mention a creator preferred one. Like is anyone familiar with this work?

I'm not familiar with either of these works, so I'm not gonna be much help. Best I can say is for someone who is to chime in and for the sites to be crosschecked pertaining to fan works.

• I can tell you that neither Izaya nor Shizuo is part of a canon relationship, so there's no creator-preferred couple there.
• Mikado is part of a canon pairing with Anri, so there is at least a creator-preferred couple. However, I can't vouch for the Mikado/Izaya pairing actually being popular in the fandom.
• I don't know about Yoshimune because he's apparently exclusive to the game, which I never played. The character page doesn't suggest a canon pairing.

So the entries are a cut, a maybe, and a cut.

My attempted Cagney & Lacey rewrite from this:

• Fan-Preferred Couple: Many LGBT fans prefers Cagney and Lacey to be paired together rather than each of them having a boyfriend/husband.

To this:

• Cagney & Lacey: Despite the fact that Mary Beth Lacey is Happily Married to Harvey, very few fans actually ship her with him online. Instead, most fans ship her with her police partner Christine Cagney. This is mainly due to them feeling Mary Beth has better chemistry with Christine and the fact that their partnership is the focus on the plot. In fact, the studio was aware of this potentially happening and tried to repeatedly meddle to prevent it. However, even decades later, Mary Beth/Christine remains basically the only ship in the fandom.
