The Copy-Paste Cleanup Thread

Alright; went ahead and removed the note, citing this thread.

All of the intro text on the Marvel Comics Occupy Avengers page was a direct and complete copy of the first issue's profile on the marvel.com site.

I'm not sure if that copy/paste originally happened on this page, or was copied across from a previous troper's efforts when the page was created as part of the wider Marvel Comics clean-up effort.

Either way, I don't currently know enough about the book to replace it without simply rehashing the same marvel.com wording, so I've added the usual placeholder. I'll try to find out more about the source material and write something from scratch if need be - but I'm hoping another troper who knows the comic will get there first.

The description of The Granstream Saga is partly copied from Wikipedia.

Snipped it and sent a notifier to the page creator.

I have just had to remove several recap summaries Monolaf 317 added to Tuca & Bertie late last month, as they were all copied from the official description. Specifically these three here which are copied from IMDB and Direct TV here here and here. I've sent them a notifier but unfortunately I also need to flag them, as I did a bit of digging and found that they were already tagged in a post that point blank told them not to do this at the beginning of the year and yet have continued, despite acknowledging it.

Does anyone have Eberts Glossary Of Movie Terms who could verify if anything's copied verbatim?

At least one definition is.

Apparently, Eviler Than Thou has plagiarised the descriptions of countless Recap.TheRisingOfTheShieldHero episodes.

Has anyone sent a notifier?

~Eviler Than Thou has been called to this thread at least once before here and they already have a plagiarism notifier. I see that the newer Shield Hero recaps they made have no description so I assume they get the message now. However, the pages with plagiarized descriptions still need to be addressed and fixed.

I thought I already had those fixed ages ago. Must have slipped under my radar.

I've just deleted a large chunk of the introduction to ComicBook.X Men 2021, which was copy/pasted from the initial promo announcement on marvel.com.

Looks like it's been there since April 2021, when ~ComicLover1995 first launched the page (notification message sent).

I've put a placeholder in, as I don't have time to properly rewrite it now, but will try tomorrow if other tropers don't beat me to it.

The intro to ComicBook.Hellions has a similar issue - much of it's taken from marvel.com.

Subsequent edits have changed it a little, but it's still a big block of the original text. Going to try to do a quick edit on it now.

Looks like it's been there since page launch in April 2021, when ~FuzzyBarbarian moved it over from ComicBook.Hellions 2020 (as it didn't need the disambiguation). As that page has been cut, I can't see which troper originally added the problem text there.

I'm not sure who added the stuff from the Marvel announcement on the Hellions 2020 page, but I can say that they must have pasted over the original article, which I distinctly remember not looking like that (it noticeably actually listed the team members). No clue why they would, but I do recall it being very different when I was still editing that page.

Another one from the more recent Marvel Comics X-Men pages - the intro for ComicBook.Fallen Angels 2019 was largely taken from Marvel's first issue solicitation.

I've deleted and replaced it. Looks like it originally came from ~Thought Complex at page creation in 2019. They haven't made any edits in years, so may not be an active troper these days. Message sent anyway.

Literature.Steppenwolf was just created with a description copied directly or indirectly from here.

So Literature.Eberts Glossary Of Movie Terms is mostly plagiarized, as I said in my earlier post. Should it be cutlisted? The creator never responded to my notifier.

Characters.Katawa Shoujo has character bios taken directly from this page on the game's official website. They're only slightly modified.

Creator.Peach Pit is completely copied from wikipedia and even says so.

The first edit in history is from 2012, so it predates our ability to identify the culprit. Replace the definition with the usual tag and that's about all we can do.

Characters.Fate Grand Order Assassins G To M: The description for Huyan Zhuo is taken directly from her profile for the most part. Only the thing with Empusa is not directly taken from it, but it has some grammar issues.

Literature.The Undetectable Strongest Job has a "quote" that appears to be a copy of the work's synopsis. Is this acceptable?

^ No, it's not. The page has been created by Overlord_2018 who was known for adding plagiarized material to multiple light novel and manga pages.
