and Thanks, I was just curious to know. I'm aware that JAWTV is not much of a problem trope anymore, I just wanted to know how old a trope needed to be to be TRS-worthy.

The cleanup thread for Jerks Are Worse Than Villains actually had a crowner for deciding its fate, and cutting it was an option. It was downvoted, and that sort of vote is something that would usually go through TRS, but personally I think enough time has passed that reevaluating it isn't out of the question.

Also, that description is absurdly long. Was the initial draft also an essay?

Edit: Oh, and to say another thing regarding the other recently launched TRS candidates, I do think Stock Parody Jokes could use a thread because it should have never left TLP in the state it was in, due to all the ZCEs it had right out of the gate. Plus, as I've previously mentioned in this thread, the definition expansion we gave to Memetic Mutation not long after Stock Parody Jokes was launched would probably render the latter redundant anyway.

So a while back ~𝕋𝕒𝕓𝕤 mentioned that they were waiting to bring Mailer Daemon in until a few slots have moved up.

A few slots have moved up since, and the queue hasn't really filled up, so do you want to add Mailer Daemon to the queue Tabs?

Speaking of, should we move the top three down to the bottom since we keep skipping them anyway and none of them are showing up to respond to pings? Sort of defeats the purpose of being first in line if everyone behinds you has to go before you anyway. This way it gives them more time to come back, and we don't have to keep waiting to see if maybe they'll show up this time.

I think that's a good idea.

I moved them to the bottom.

After I took Cinderella Circumstances to TRS, I thought about The Girl Who Fits This Slipper, and if it, too, was just misused for random Cinderella references. Well, I did a wick check here, using 50 wicks. The results show about half of the overall usage being Cinderella-based plots, not misuse, but a very narrow scope. I should note that my original plan was to use all the wicks, but this one burnt me out so much I cut it down to 50, with the last batch being more random than the others. Still, though, I think the results are telling.

What do we think? Is this an issue that needs TRS? Do you guys think the current title and over-emphasis on the trope namer is stifling it, or is it fine?

If you combine all but the correct wicks, that's 26 incorrect vs 24 correct. I think it can go to TRS, Extreme Sport Excuse Plot had a similar result and that thread went through.

Well, the first two folders are both "correct" usages, I merely separated it on the basis of the first one being about Cinderella examples.

Hmm...70% correct use to 28% ZCE is actually pretty good. I looked at the description to see if there were any holes in the definition but it seems to be solid. I can't think of a good reason to take this trope to TRS besides the name. I guess we can argue that the name makes it seem like the trope is more specific than what it is but I don't know if that's a strong enough case.

Yeah, my literal only concern is the overwhelming emphasis on Cinderella and Cinderella Plots. The trope shows up in all of those stories, almost as an essential element of them, but it's not that narrow and I'm worried that the title, image, and quote are contributing to people underusing it for non-Cinderella examples. Does that make sense?

I mean, hey, if it's not TRS worthy, that's cool with me. I just didn't know what I was supposed to do once the wick check ended.

I cleaned up Culturally Religious's (the new name for Raised Catholic) on-page examples, so maybe I can do some dewicking soon to get that slot freed up. Considering how most of the on-page examples were misuse, I'm guessing a lot of wicks will need to be deleted instead of being moved to the new name.

Just as an update, my aunt's funeral service is next weekend, and after that I should be ready to finish off Yaoi Guys and Token Yuri Girls dewicking and wick moving. Sorry for the delay

Take your time. You have more important things to attend to than wiki cleanup. TV Tropes cleanup shouldn't feel like an obligation because we're all volunteers who do this stuff in our free time.
