Self-Demonstrating Character Pages

It's still up six months later. Also, Tenko Chabashira has been a single sentence since it was created in April. I'm definitely opposed to deleting all of the pages.

Remind me again why the comic book page for Deadpool links right to the self-demonstrating page?

I know he’s the fourth-wall breaking anti-hero and all, but it’d be less confusing to have an actual page seperate from the self-demonstrating one.

Because no one's bothered to make an actual page yet.

Why aren't we supposed to link these pages elsewhere on the wiki? Also, GLaDOS's folder on Characters.Portal links to GLaDOS and has a mod note from Fighteer saying not to change it.

YMMV.The Joker is written in first person. Sandbox to clean it up here.

I think the GLaDOS link is acceptable since it's not part of an actual example.

Then can Wheatley and Space Core also be linked in the description of their characters' folders?

Hello. I used to make these pages a while ago, but most of them got deleted, and I didn't know about this thread. But now that I do, I'd like to get back into it, with help from you guys.

On my Sandbox page, Sandbox.Dr No Puma, in the first folder, I'm working on my first new draft, for Staya from TinkerQuarry. My biggest concern is that his All Caps speech might be too hard on the eyes. What do you guys think?

EDIT: For some reason, the lines in the description don't appear separated, even though I put a space in between each one. I'm not sure why.

Bump? I've also started working on one for Old Man. See it and the other one here.

I don't think Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco Uraraka, and Lapis Lazuli have very unique voices. If someone wants to make a My Hero Academia self-demonstrating page, maybe All Might could work.

What would you say makes them not unique enough? And does that apply to my two drafts?

~Roku Alhazared has been basically making an SD character page a day for a while and... very few of them seem like they actually qualify as having a distinct voice.

They're basically just first-person character recaps.

As far as I can tell, we have only one page with multiple characters (The Three Stooges). Are those generally less accepted? Or is it just that not many people have tried making them? I'd like to do one for Sam & Max.

We also have SelfDemonstrating.Rick And Morty.

The page for SCP-682 has a YMMV page that's also in the first person. What should I do with this page? Should I just cut this page since it's not in the Self-Demonstrating namespace?

There are other YMMV subpages for self-demonstrating character pages like YMMV.Freeza. Are we sure those are forbidden? If so, the examples should be merged into the main self-demonstrating page. YMMV.Lobo should be kept for now, since anyone is open to make ComicBook.Lobo.

This ATT thread brought up Deadpool's pages as an issue— they basically said you have to be familiar (or not just familiar but a hardcore fan) of the character to understand his pages, and being witty has gotten in the way of being clear and concise and made them too hard to read and understand. One suggestion was to have a separate self-demonstrating page to do the fun stuff, but not have everything Deadpool in Deadpool's voice (or trying but failing to be in his voice).

I agree with your proposal.

I agree that a normal Comic Book article for Deadpool would be a good idea, since something similar's been done with the Joker. Maybe make a draft in Sandbox.Deadpool?

I am in favor of making a 'proper' Comic Book subpage. The ATT discussion went in a tangent of whether or not it's necessary to understanding his character — I think it is, but it is in no way necessary for writing a neat description (clear > concise > witty). As is, the description is too messy and too ham, and the examples aren't really in his voice.

Deadpool is long past overdue for a proper ComicBook/ page.

Lobo could use one too. Superboy Prime is another comic character who has a self-demonstrating page but no ComicBook/ page, though since I don't believe he's ever had his own comic series, he doesn't really need one.

Superboy Prime is also pretty negative and bash-y, and requires knowing Atop The Fourth Wall to understand what the joke even is.

As for the Comic Book thing though, a lot of Comic Book pages for characters are actually character pages. It's weird but true. One could exist for Superboy Prime.

I'm sick of the special pleading the Deadpool pages get, especially since I'm inclined to agree that they don't even sound that much like him. I support both creating a "normal" version and rewriting the self-demonstrating versions some once they're moved to the correct namespace.
