Inspired by this thread, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

I'll cop to that; I once ran into an issue where someone made a Haiku that...well...objectively wasn't one. As in, it didn't follow any sort of syllable structure or anything of the sort. And despite that, I was still afraid to delete it without asking first, because it was signed and I didn't know if I could touch someone else's "Haiku".
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessHere's a haiku from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask that simply complains about the Skull Kid (signed by an "Anonymous" troper). Permission to cut?
...Yeah, we should just start a Haiku cleanup project now.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessDo you guys think Ending Aversion can be complainy, or is it fine the way it is?
I think the main problem is that most of the entries on there focus on how fans who were there while the work was ongoing feel about how it ending versus how potential fans feel going into the work because of its ending.

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!I feel that the page for The Clash's Cut the Crap unfairly bashes Let It Be. Those two albums are not in the same league. Say what you want about Let It Be but at least it was competently produced by an industry professional and not haphazardly slapped together by an inexperienced dude who thinks he knows what he's doing. Also, Let It Be's YMMV page notes that the album was Vindicated by History overtime.
Also the whole tone of the article feels jarringly negative compared to the more neutral-sounding (while occasionally joking) tone of other articles on the site. Not even the page for The Last Airbender movie reaches this article's level of negativity.
pee pee poo pooScrappyMechanic.Animal Crossing New Horizons could probably use a trim, since the Redd stuff is repeated twice and a couple complaints are fairly minor.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I've noticed that Ending Aversion has a large amount of very recent examples listed, especially Western cartoons. Not being familiar with the shows in question I can't tell which examples are legitimate and which aren't, but it's a very unusually visible recency bias on a negative YMMV so I thought I'd at least mention it here. Is there that much of an epidemic of terrible endings going around in addition to the coronavirus these days?
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I've seen Ending Aversion missed as "people have problems with the ending" rather than "people avoid a work because it has a reputation for ending badly", so those examples are probably worth checking for misuse.
To my knowledge, Naruto and Bleach don’t have Ending Aversion, because there’s still plenty of fans still watching Boruto or are waiting for the anime adaptation of the final arc and its sequel respectively.
As for Danny Phantom... maybe? The paragraph said it lost popularity due to its third season, but I still see plenty of people wanting to watch the show to this day despite this.

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! This example on YMMV.Jupiter Ascending comes off as overly-mocking:
- So Bad, It's Good: The Wachowskis tried to make a grand space opera à la Star Wars, with laser dogfights in Chicago and a Rags to Riches heroine taking down the evils of space capitalism. Instead, they made a movie populated by bad DeviantArt OCs in which bees recognize space royalty, plot threads dangle like fringe on '70s leather jackets, and a fallen-angel werewolf fights with rocket skates. Best watched with funny friends in all its trashy glory.
I blame Nostalgia Critic and Cinema Sins for encouraging that, as I recognize some of that language from their reviews. While it certainly is a "so bad it's good" movie, the write-up could be less critical. Particularly the Deviant Art comment, that's a low blow.
I think there's a really nasty tendency to basically directly steal from those kind of reviews (and assume they're speaking for everyone) in general with some YMMV pages.
Looks like somebody forgot the "it's good" part of So Bad, It's Good. Either cut, or rewrite to emphasize the part where it's enjoyable.
I think it is not so much stealing as just adding examples straight from the review, but yeah, it isn't a good thing to do.

Content Warning: My posts may involve my actions dealing with R-rated or Not Safe for Work content. Same for my edit history. This was added to YMMV.Fillmore under Harsher in Hindsight:
- Thr Unseen Reflection ends with the author being called out not caring about her book series and destroying cannon, then just insult the fans that complain. These day, deeply loved fan properties like Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and others are being handled terribly, with any complaint towards cannon or decent story telling being ignored as "Toxic Fan's whining" along with people running the franchises outright insulting the fans on social media.
That’s a definite cut.
SoundCloudCut.
It's telling that they left out the part where fans drive creators off of social media with harassment, which is why fans so often get labeled "toxic". It's got nothing to do with "destroying canon".
@supernintendo128: That should definitely be rewritten to have a more neutral tone.
@lalalei2001: Scrappy Mechanic's definition states that the mechanic generates a sizeable hatedom. Therefore, the mechanic should only be listed if it's disliked by a significant number of players. It isn't a place for listing mechanics that a troper personally disliked.
This excerpt from the description for Shattered Glass reads like a sly jab at Hayden Christensen:

You can find me here now.Uh, "Sly?"
Yeah, that can go.
This is on Long-Lost Uncle Aesop:
- A staple of the YA girls' series popular in the 1990s — not surprising, considering these books were sitcom episodes in print form. A typical example from The Baby-Sitters Club series: Amelia, suddenly introduced as a close friend of Mary Anne, was never been mentioned before the book in which she's killed by a drunk driver to teach the moral of the story. The BSC used this a lot. A new baby-sitting client would be introduced at the beginning of the book, needing the services of the club, and naturally after a few sitting jobs the girls would realize something was up. The most pointed examples are Keep Out, Claudia!, dealing with a mother whose super-Aryanism would be comical if it wasn't so disconcerting, and Claudia and the Terrible Truth, where the girls learn that two boys are being physically abused by their father. The latter is one of the creepiest books in the entire series.
I'm not arguing that the books aren't an example, but this looks like it may need to be rewritten.
I don't think that sort of "this is common in Genre X, here's a sample example" writeup is really considered kosher, but that doesn't strike me as particularly negative, especially given the nature of the page.
Agreed. I think they can be fun to make/read and I'd keep the subwiki, but complaints may be a problem (also, the fact that they're all signed might have led to problematic ones being kept due to people being afraid to delete).
