This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Sorry... That's why I said "probably"... :/
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upI agree to both swaps proposed above.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Swapped out Dark Fantasy's quote as per discussion.
Thank you
If this is the place to decide page quotes I hope I am in the right place. See, Futari Wa Pretty Cure has a quote that comes from a fansub and not say, the official dub or even the official subs. Can I get consensus on what to do? The localization thread doesnt care at all, all they do is talk about Glitter Force.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Do you have any suggestions for replacement quotes?
If you want to replace it with a different quote, I'm not 100% sure if you can ask here
But you can definitely replace the fansub quote with the official sub version even without asking permission (just specify you're putting the official translation)
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upThe quote for Posthumous Narration is pretty good, especially since it mentions other works using this device, but i think it could be a bit ambiguous for those who don't know the context. What about the dedicatory for Brazilian classic book The Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas, put in the quotes page? I think it's a bit more straightforward:
From the same book, there is also this one:

oh hey how are you doing? What Did You Expect When You Named It ____? has this quote:
This isn't an example - the trope is specifically for things with names that are tempting failure (ex. a plane named after Icarus). It's also already on The Jeeves. There are some better quotes on the Quotes page to choose from:
Host Robot: Information: it was chosen as the famous vessel of the planet Earth.
The Doctor: Did they tell you why it was famous?
I like the doctor who one
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Doctor Who
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.Third for Doctor Who quote.
Swapped the quote out for the Doctor Who one.
Edit: Oh, apparently The Jeeves also has the same page quote as Prophetic Names. Should one of those be changed?
Edited by GiantCicada on Dec 31st 2021 at 9:52:30 AM
I think it's easier to change the one on Prophetic Names. The subpage has plenty of decent alternatives:
I prefer the first one. It even gives a nod to the trope description's comment about what parents are thinking when they give babies such names.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The Ninjago quote.
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.I feel like My Rules Are Not Your Rules' quote is missing context.
I'd like to apologize for all this.Epic Race currently doesn't have a quote. Does this or any part of it work:
- You'll be given a card like this. You'll punch in when you start and you'll punch out when you reach the Portofino Inn in Redondo Beach. The difference between your two times is your time across the country. The record stands at thirty-two hours and fifty-one minutes. And believe it or not, those guys did break the fifty-five mile an hour speed limit.—Race organizer, The Cannonball Run
At the very least, I think the last two sentences can be used.
The Musical is a dupe of Musical Episode. Pushing to swap the former for this from the quotes page:
Josh: What happens when you're too emotional to dance? Does it loop back around to talking? Because that's where I'm at right now.
You can cut that one. Not a fan of quotes that rely too much on outside text explaining what's going on. Even with the extra context provided here, I still don't get it.
The page quote for Almost Kiss just seems like Moment Killer, since they don't mention their kiss was interrupted. No Quotes Page for this one, so anyone for me straight up removing it pending suggestions?

I agree, though as there isn't a quotes page I suggest keeping it until a better suggestion.
I've recently submitted Nightmare Paralysis Creature at TLP, about monsters who cause sleep paralysis, especially in folklore. Does someone have some idea for a good quote?
oh hey how are you doing?Do you have a link to the draft? I don't know my way around TLP.
I ask because the first thing that came to my mind was a Scientific American article from last year, which includes the following paragraph, but I don't know if it's relevant:
These hallucinations—often involving seeing and sensing ghostly bedroom intruders—are interpreted differently around the world. In Egypt, sleep paralysis is often thought to be caused by a jinn ("genie")—a supernatural creature that terrorizes and sometimes kills its victims. In Italy, some interpret sleep paralysis as an assault by the so-called Pandafeche, a figure described as a malevolent witch or terrifying giant cat. In South Africa, Indigenous people believe the state to be caused by segatelelo (black magic), involving menacing dwarflike creatures called tokoloshe, and in Turkey, it is the karabasan—mysterious spirit-like creatures.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Of course, here it is: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/discussion.php?id=2sccxgdeqr9mnwqh2zt8j8sq. You can access Trope Launch Pad by seeing the third "most recent edits" at the front page or clicking in the fourth link in "Important Links".
This fits really well the concept of the trope, thanks! Does someone else have a suggestion?

oh hey how are you doing?Looks good.
The page quote on Language Barrier is from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but Aqua Teen Hunger Force isn't mentioned in the examples. I looked at the wicks and it isn't there, either. Unless someone has seen the episode and can add it to the examples, here are some potential replacements:
Jane: Oh, I see.
Tarzan: Oh, I see. (points to self) Tarzan. (points to Jane) Oh I see.
Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
Statements like "everyone probably saw Aladdin" are extremely untrue. Swap the quote.
