In my fantasy world, THE God is non-caring, he doesn't intervene with anything, and he let the world run itself.

All the smaller gods(Goddess of fire, God of earth, Time master, and Dimension walker... etc.) were once just mortals that he thought was interesting, so he gave them immortality and increase their power for like thousandfold and made them gods.

He's omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent; But he (maybe-not-so) strictly restrain himself from using his god power, see only what he want to see(because he doesn't want to see someone taking a shit during his whole eternal life) through a rift, and instead of just be everywhere, he goes everywhere with portal gates.

Also he binds all his god powers to manual control via series of hand movements so that he doesn't accidentally remove all universes from existence with a mere thought AGAIN, but he often forgets which power is bind to which, so he carries a command list on his person on all time, he also has a gesture that allow him to switch to "At Will" mode.

And there was an incident where he wonder how would frogs looks like with giraffe's neck, and oops.

In a setting I have titles are literally power. Everyone above a certain age has a title, and introducing yourself by your full title is a way of letting people know how powerful you are. Powerful and older adventurers commonly have long lists titles from all of their exploits.

Priests are able to grant people titles based on their deeds. An adventurer who slays a mighty red dragon might get the title dragon's bane which renders them resistant to fire and more able to pierce the scales of dragons.

The setting? Eldritch Location meets City of Adventure. Welcome to NEKROPOLIS.

For one thing, buildings here grow like trees, taking the phrase "Urban Jungle" to new heights. And its not "growing from a small building to a large building", one could literally watch a building's skeleton rend itself into place.

While this would be beneficial Building growth is completely uncontrollable, often causing buildings to become scrunched up together. As a result, buildings being demolished is a extremely common sight.

To add to the mess NEKROPOLIS is constantly expanding, and if not contained will soon cover the entire continent in roughly a decade. Which is why the place is lined with a massive wall.

In the Jewel Galaxy, there's a perpetual war between the Always Chaotic Evil xenophobic species and the galactic alliance that just wants the xenophobes to leave them alone. Despite the xenophobes' repeated and unprovoked attacks, the galactic alliance still doesn't allow anyone to attempt genocide on the xenophobes. The war has lasted long enough to where the number of casualties and fatalities should have totaled twelve times Earth's population by now. Instead, because the foundational axioms of the setting have so many safety features designed to invoke Could Have Been Messy whenever possible, casualties remain in the quadruple digits, with fatalities merely in the triple digits. This has caused countless headaches and nightmares for the xenophobes.

Oh, my previous world, The Prismyverse, had a lot of quirks. I'll just list some here:

  • If you become a Grand (that is, you're the master of some skill), you must give up your name and adopt a title, and nobody else can choose that title until they either surpass you, or you die.
  • Humans lived alongside eidolon (living psychic constructs), almiraj (multicolored teleporting cats) and mutants (basically humans whose bodies got horribly mutated and often fused with non-organic stuff due to radiation poisoning). Later they also met aberrations (old, sickly-looking humans with atrophied legs that move by either teleportation or floating) and
  • People had artificial humans, called homunculi, that could be bought as slaves.
  • The world is brutal. There is little economy - only two or three places use actual money, some villages use trading goods, but normally the world is brutal and you either take by force, steal, or craft your own stuff.
  • Humans lived in small villages because, with the exception of one, all big cities end up ruined because when too many humans gather in an area, they start to gradually go mad.
  • Electric energy is required for everyone, so Powerplants are considered sacred to all people. Weapons are forbidden, and any kind of violence inside the Powerplant results on you becoming an enemy of the entire world.

I could write a book about the Prismyverse, so I'll stop here.

Finally, my troper page is up!

Symphora has a mystical energy about it that makes the whole region a weirdness magnet. Sometimes tourists returning from the region report strange things happening to them a day or two after they leave, as if there was still a little bit of that energy clinging to them. No one has ever been able to prove it, though.

The Great War Universe has a few odd ones but here’s two:

Ai (self thinking machines) are banned nearly throughout known space , with one exception; The Domain who use the name “Silica” to refer to AI as to them it’s an insult to refer to Ai as Artificial Intelligence. In order to get around this restriction in military conflict most races employ coordinators: semi intelligent computing cores that have each an aspect of warfare allocated to them (such as basic tactics and escalation, logistics and troop management) due to this decentralized nature compound intelligences are a very rare occurrence.

Secondly that FTL is accomplished by trans versing gravity corridors between large gravitational dense objects (stars and large gas giants). The catch is that once a fleet or ship is in the corridor they must keep going through the corridor or risk being crushed by the torsional forces. As a result battles in the corridors are more accidents then deliberate occurrences. Fleets that fight each other must close to stupidly close ranges in order to avoid their mutionions de accelerating from ftl speeds before striking their targets. Also if for any reason the ftl engine shows signs of failure, the common practice is a “Crash Out” transitioning back into real space before re entering the corridor after the fault is corrected. Also while FTL communications are possible they rely on the same corridors which go through bouts of congestion and thus communication relays must be frequently replaced.

The royal scepter is more of a royal "scepter" to disguise the fact that it was actually an ornate walking cane one queen needed to walk around. She was already under constant pressure from people thinking she was politically weak and wanting to overthrow her so didn't need the empire knowing she was genuinely physically weak.

For my D&D 5e setting: The "planes" are actually other planets in the galaxy, and the Plane Shift spell essentially summons a spaceship that abducts people before opening a wormhole to travel to a different plane, with the material components for the spell being the spaceship's keys to pilot the ship.

Additionally, both celestial beings and fiends are actually aliens that live on two different planets on opposite sides of the galaxy.

Extra fact: The "gods" are actually reality warping orbital satellite AI that float around the material plane. They help clerics manipulate magic by activating the inert nanites that live in the atmosphere and are inside every being on the planet.

A medieval world governed by feudal lords and knights, and magic is treated as a form of science. Oddly enough, Fantasy Gun Control is completely absent, because guns are a type of magic.

In this setting, mages would wear a pointy hat, a hooded robe and a surcoat over their robe as their standard outfit. But instead of traditional wooden staves, they carry bolt-action rifles and call them magic staves, and ammo-making is treated as a form of alchemy. Mages also have access to magical powder bottles... which are basically hand grenades and flashbangs with fancier names. Besides, they also expertise in herbal medicine usage, making them good healers as well.

Meanwhile, knights would use various types of swords, maces, axes, spears, halberds, bows and crossbows for combat, and they don't have access to "magic" (or technically, guns). Their armor of choice also depends on their gender: Men would usually wear Gothic Armor and White Italian Armor in order to shrug off incoming melee attacks and "magic spells" (again, gunfire) at the front line; whereas women would use chainmail armor with a surcoat on top of it due to aesthetical reason and having less weight than plate armor.

There is a reason why guns exist and people call it magic: The "medieval" world is actually a post-apocalyptic world, and the people try to re-establish the society by emulating a medieval world, from feudal lords to knights. In order to justify the use of guns, they invent a new occupation specifically for wielding them, hence the origin of mages.

I've come up with a bunch of little ones for my Fictional Earth setting. Off the top of my head:

  • Due to a 31 year global war, technological innovation has been oriented almost entirely towards the military for 3 whole decades, resulting in some pretty severe Schizo Tech. Artificial Limbs, Combat Drones, construction robots, and even rudimentary energy weapons are commonplace, but most regular people don't own cars or televisions, the closest thing that exists to the internet is reserved exclusively for government institutions, and space travel is limited to basic communication satellites, with the idea of manned space missions being seen by most people as a laughable frivolity. Also, nuclear weapons don't exist for plot reasons.
  • Said global war resulted in almost every world government having a decidedly authoritarian slant. The war was fought primarily between socialist and fascist countries, with the socialist countries emerging victorious. Nothing like liberal capitalism exists in this setting, with the closest thing to it being a libertarian island city-state that can best be described as "Reddit as a city".
  • The northernmost continent is Asria, a landmass slightly larger than Russia whose northernmost regions cover the North Pole and reach over to the other side of the planet. It is home to a country of the same name (like how the United States of America isn't the only country in North America), which occupies over half of its landmass and holds political domination over all other countries in the region. The South Pole of the planet is almost entirely glaciers, with the only actual land being small archipelagos.
  • With only 5 continents that are smaller on average than our own, more of the planet (something like 80-85%) is covered by ocean. One of the primary superpowers, Saryen, is an empire of thousands of islands scattered across the Great Sea, like a Space-Filling Empire version of Indonesia.
  • The writing systems in this setting are much different from our own; Sinerica, the main viewpoint country, and most countries in its cultural sphere use an abugida similar to Hindi, while the people of Saryen use a cuneiform alphabet whose characters are based off tree leaves, and Asrians use a vertical alphabet inspired by Mongolian writing.
  • There are equivalents to various real world musical genres, namely rock, punk, and metal, which are all the same thing in this setting. It evolved directly from folk music and was started by pissed off and traumatized citizens of occupied nations in the early days of the war. It's more lyrically focused than our own rock music due to these origins, and is most frequently used for protest songs, resulting in it being suppressed by many governments. Electronic music and something akin to chanson are also extremely popular.
  • The main character is descended from a tribe of people in southern Saryen who don't believe in gods, but instead believe that the world created itself and is now ruled by an anarchy of spirits.

[up] Ruled by an anarchy? Isn't that an oxymoron?

To reduce the chances of a Grey Goo scenario, all nanobots are deliberately hobbled with not enough hardware to have enough software to be autonomous — they all have to receive a constant stream of instructions from a remote control or they won't operate at all.

i think in this context that means "a disorderly group of individuals (spirits, here) that deny each others authority and place in a heirarchy."

i suppose a parallel would be a host of european countries each with a ruler that has no interest in the laws, borders or interests of their neighbours, with probably no established rules for war

The point is that his people believe life is in a state of constant metaphysical chaos, which ties in with the story's themes about war.

The totalitarian Cay Union and Dow Hegemony have harsh penal system. The Southern Cross gives most criminals the option of jail or service in the SCMS. Political dissidents, those who commit heinous crimes (like rape or murder) and those expelled from the SCMS are sent to the Southern Cross's "Scientific Research and Planetary Ecology" colonies. This is a gulag-like system that uses convicts as forced labor to terraform hostile planets.

The United Earth Government has a penal system that encourages reform and public service - for those on Earth and Mars.

The colonial penal system uses convicts as labor for upkeep of the colony or space station and rents them out to local business. The funds are supposed to go to the victims but several wardens and colonial governors have been caught lining their own pockets. The worst offenders are sent to penal colonies where their labor is used to terrform hostile planets or mine resources.

For an Earth citizen the worst fate is to get a "Persona Non Grata" order. This barrs the offender from ever returning to the colony. They can only be in transit or seeking medical treatment. Colonies take an additional step of barring offenders with multiple "PNG" orders.

This can strand an offender on a world or on a space station - they can't go home and they can't go to another colony.

Many colonies use convicts or offenders with multiple "PNG" orders to fill out their colonial defense forces. They will pardon convicts and wave the Persona Non Grata order to fill out the CDF ranks.

In my interstellar sci-fi setting, the most popular sport in the Outer Systems - humanity's most recent extrasolar colonies - is racing. These races were first held by bored colonists with nothing to do in their leisure time (no internet that far from home), access to vehicles and vast expanses of empty land. The first races were usually rally contests held with off-road rovers and exploration vehicles, with lightning-fast hover-speeder cars later being thrown into the mix. A lack of central government oversight means there's very little in the way of rules - pretty much any vehicle can be entered as long as it's not too big for the track, with the only hard-and-fast rule followed by most organizers is that racers are not permitted to equip their vehicles with offensive weaponry. Of course, plenty of racers invoke Loophole Abuse by utilizing Improvised Weaponry such as loose tools, particularly violent exhaust systems or solar energy sappers, and the organizers typically turn a blind eye to such antics because it (supposedly) gets the audience excited. Racers are still expected to sustain damage at the hands of other racers, and usually compete in teams of two - one to drive, the other to spot oncoming hazards and perform repairs.

Vampires are actually very religious. Generally, when a medieval european discovers they're a vampire the first thing they do is go to church. Generally, the clergy have arranged blood donations in exchange for good behavior and shelter from the sun.

Most vampires shy away from crosses because they remind them of their humanity and when a vampire does evil deeds a cross often shames them to the point of pain.

Viporis aliens are humanoid enough to where they could wear human clothes and shoes if they wanted to. Their feet are adapted to switch between plantigrade and digitigrade. Even though this would make it easier for them to wear high heels habitually without it leading to foot arthritis in their old age, Viporises still don't like wearing high heels. They think humans are crazy for inventing a digitigrade shoe for a plantigrade foot.
