The best-laid plans of sponges and cephalopods often go awry.
Abandon Twits

Original air date: 1/20/2023 (produced in 2022)

Mr. Krabs invites SpongeBob and Squidward to a sailing trip on his new yacht. The next day, it turns out that the ship isn't built, and it's up to SpongeBob and Squidward to build it together without instructions nor guidance. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

"Abandon Twits" contains examples of:

  • Achievements in Ignorance: SpongeBob doesn't know how to build a boat, so he puts up the mast first, with it just hovering in mid-air. When Squidward tells him this is wrong, it begins tipping over and hits him on the head.
  • Beach Episode: Most of the episode takes place at Goo Lagoon, where the Krusty Krew try to build a boat. When it's finished, they take to the sea to sell food.
  • Circling Birdies: When Squidward gets bashed on the head with an anchor, three images of him sailing in a little ship circle around his head.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Squidward does his dance from "Culture Shock".
    • After being polished by SpongeBob, he has a similar appearance to his baby self from "Squid Baby".
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: SpongeBob and Squidward try to build the ship's frame, leading to many Amusing Injuries on Squidward's part. Krabs points out that there's already a pre-made ship frame they were supposed to use instead; they just didn't search the parts enough to find it.
  • Everybody Do the Endless Loop: The second time Squidward does his techno dance, the animation is recycled: it plays once, then gets horizontally flipped and plays again in reverse.
  • Green Around the Gills: SpongeBob's face turns green when he gets seasick.
  • Illogical Safe: A safe falls on top of Squidward's body. The dial turns and opens, exposing his head inside while his limbs are still outside.
  • Lazy Bum: Krabs takes a "supervising" position that's just him taking a nap on a beach chair while SpongeBob and Squidward build the boat for him.
  • Left the Background Music On: When the ship starts sinking, Taps begins to play as the ship goes down. After Mr. Krabs accepts Bubble Bass's money and SpongeBob gives him his krabby patty, Squidward is playing Taps on his clarinet as he goes down.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: The kraken looks and sounds like Rodney Dangerfield.
  • Not This One, That One: We see the "ship" SpongeBob and Squidward have finished and are showing to Krabs, and it looks alright. Then we zoom out to see it's just a picture on a box; the actual ship is a complete mess.
  • Running Gag: Squidward getting hit in the face with planks.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: Twice, SpongeBob gets seasick, and his face goes green. He moves off the screen and we hear him vomiting.

Nothing a wall inspection couldn't overlook...
Wallhalla

Original air date: 1/20/2023 (produced in 2022)

Gary is missing, and SpongeBob finds him inside the walls. When he goes in, SpongeBob meets a crazed old man named Wally. Wally shows SpongeBob the glory of living inside the walls, unaware that SpongeBob is the very person who drove him crazy in the first place.

"Wallhalla" contains examples of:

  • Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: Having only read it without hearing it pronounced, Wally says Gary's name as "ga-REE" rather than "GARE-e".
  • Annoying Laugh: In this episode, it's revealed that SpongeBob's laugh is so annoying, the guy living inside his walls went insane from having to hear it for years.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When Patrick sees SpongeBob being chased by Wally, he reacts in shock until it turns out he found "raisins" in the fridge.
  • Balloon Belly: Wally, SpongeBob, and Gary have this after eating a feast.
  • Blatant Lies: When moving into his house, SpongeBob sees Wally's imprint in the walls and asks the real estate agent if that's normal. The agent nervously says it's just the house settling. SpongeBob believes it.
  • Continuity Nod: SpongeBob's to-do list from "Something Smells" can be seen on his fridge.
  • E = MC Hammer: None of the math on Gary's math test is accurate. It seems to just be a bunch of complicated-looking math symbols thrown together.
  • Eating Pet Food: SpongeBob eats snail po treats while listening to Wally's story.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: As the episode starts to close, Wally plays a joke on Squidward as he and SpongeBob share a long laugh together scaring Squidward away; once they stop, Wally comments under his breath he still hates SpongeBob's laugh.
  • Loud Gulp: SpongeBob does one when Wally reveals he was the one who drove him mad, even his voice says the word "Gulp!" as he gulps.
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: SpongeBob doesn't realize that he's the man who wears squeaky shoes, shrieks constantly, and has an Annoying Laugh that drove Wally insane.
  • Oh, Crap!: Both SpongeBob and Gary have this reaction when they realize SpongeBob was the "monster" who made Wally crazy.
  • Punny Name: Wally is a man who lives in the walls.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Squidward does this while in the shower when he notices SpongeBob in his toilet.
  • Special Guest: Jeffrey Combs as Wally (uncredited).
  • Toilet Humor: SpongeBob is impressed when he finds raisins in Wally's fridge, only for Wally to point out that it's actually urchin droppings.
