"You appear to be allergic to rabbits, Ed."
The Eds' latest scam is "Ed's Pet Boutick", a pet-grooming service based out of Eddy's garage. Rolf is naturally their first customer, as the Eds assume that all of his farmyard animals are in desperate need of a cleaning. Rolf obliges, and the Eds (well, Ed and Edd; Eddy doesn't really do any work.) have the task of grooming all of Rolf's chickens, rabbits, pigs, goats and even his cow. Things go smoothly until Ed's horribly allergic reaction to rabbits kick in, and the rest of the episode is spent trying to treat Ed's untimely carcinogens. All while this is happening, Rolf's rabbits are rapidly multiplying...

"Flea Bitten Ed" contains examples of:

  • A Dog Named "Dog": Two of Rolf's rabbits are referred to as "Mr & Mrs Bunny".
  • Bamboo Technology: Double-D cobbles together an improvised EKG machine out of a car battery, a TV, a typewriter and a waffle iron while doing tests to figure out what's wrong with Ed.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Eddy wants the kids (suffocating from the rabbit overpopulation) to shut up.
Eddy: HEY! SHUT YOUR YAP! WE'RE TRYING TO WATCH TV HERE!! Man, some people are so inconsiderate!
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Cul-De-Sac is overrun by rabbits, forcing the kids up onto their rooftops, but it's also one of the few episodes where the Eds are at least able to relax at the end of the day watching TV instead of having to face Disproportionate Retribution from the Cul-De-Sac kids. Ed is also finally over his allergies.
  • Body Horror: Ed's bodily reaction to the rabbits involve his body being covered in unsightly purple sores, and ballooning to impossible proportions.
    Ed: I'm mutating!
  • Bunnies for Cuteness: Discussed by Ed.
Ed: Those aren't rabbits those are bunnies! [...] Bunnies are so furry and so soft like that.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Ed when Eddy discovers that Ed has put the store sign on upside-down.
Eddy: Ed, you put the sign on upside down!
Ed: No, I put the sign on the garage!
  • Comical Overreacting: Double D dramatically complains about his arms giving way to Eddy's weight when giving him a lift, not realizing Eddy had already gotten off.
  • Cozy Catastrophe: While the bunnies end up overrunning Peach Creek and swarming the neighborhood kids, the Eds are able to safely secure themselves on the roof and watch TV, ignoring the kids' demands to fix the situation.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Jonny and Plank prepared for a bunny takeover of the world by learning how to surf on them like a wave.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: This was one of the few episodes where The Eds are the only characters who come out okay at the end, as the other characters are swarmed by bunnies while the Eds are out on the roof watching TV. It would only resurface a few more times much later into the show in season 4 with Run For Your Ed and the season 6 episode May I Have This Ed?
    • The Ed's boutique was actually pretty legitimate even if their methods were strange. They would've gotten the job done if not for Ed's allergic reaction.
  • Edutainment Show: Weirdly enough, this episode spends a fair amount of its runtime explaining how to treat an allergy-induced rash in a fun, comical way (cold cream and talchum powder for itching and rashes, cold compress for swelling).
  • Exact Words: Eddy says "flip it over" when Ed nails a sign upside-down on the garage. Ed obliges by picking up the garage and flipping that over instead.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When Ed asks Double D for eyeliner.
"Why in the world would you need eye-" (Gasp) "-liner?!!" (turns to see Ed has dressed the cow in full makeup) Alright Ed, I think the cow is clean now."
  • Explosive Breeder: Rolf's rabbits reproduce so quickly that they fill Eddy's garage to bursting within the span of a few hours, and by the end of the episode, the entire cul-de-sac is literally flooded with them.
  • Foreshadowing: While Ed is trying to clean the rabbits, they quickly become four rabbits and Ed is confused. Unfortunately, Ed's allergies soon become a prominent matter and the Eds don't realize what's happened with the rabbits until they get back.
  • Hypocritical Humor: At the end of the episode the Eds decide to watch TV on Eddy's roof due the overpopulation of bunnies, ignoring the cries for help by the other kids with Eddy saying so people are so inconsiderate, even though he yelled at them to be quiet when they need help.
  • I Want My Mommy!: You can hear Sarah scream "Mommy!" much like Eddy does when she is drowning in the flood of baby bunnies.
  • Inflating Body Gag: Ed's allergies cause him to blow up like a balloon, and float like one too. Eddy suggests pricking Ed to deflate him, but Double D fears he might explode instead.
  • Killer Rabbit: Downplayed. The rabbits aren't exactly vicious but a swarm of them were enough to tackle Jimmy off the teeter-totter.
    Jimmy: Sarah! Bunny attack!
  • Literal-Minded: After Ed puts the sign on the garage upside down. Eddy tells him to "flip it". Naturally Ed flips the whole garage. Double D snarks that at least they can read the sign now.
  • Most Common Card Game: Jonny is seen playing "Go Fish" with Plank in the lane and Plank appears to be winning since he has all the coins.
  • "No Peeking!" Request: Ed enjoys watching the chickens shower until Edd tells him he's embarrassing them. Ed apologizes and tries to walk away with his eyes closed only to keep slipping over.
  • Only the Leads Get a Happy Ending: Well okay, the Eds don't get a perfect ending but being stranded on the roof with TV and a couch is a much better trade-off than suffocating in the flood of bunnies.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The usually sympathetic Double D becomes disgruntled at the thought of Ed catching a cold but only because he's scared to catch it himself. He lightens up when it turns out to be just Ed's allergies.
Edd: Ed, are you catching a cold? Colds are very contagious! And I'd be so peeved if I caught your cold!
  • Overpopulation Crisis: The bunnies made way too many babies - the Eds try to get that off their mind with TV.
  • Plot Allergy: Ed's rabbit allergy makes up the second part of the episode.
  • Shout-Out: The ending is a parody of the movie "Night of the Lepus".
  • Simple Solution Won't Work: When Ed's allergies cause him to swell like a balloon, Eddy suggests they poke a hole in him to let the air out. Double-D immediately points out that the pressure could cause him to explode.
  • Skewed Priorities: While the rest of the kids are panicking over the bunny overpopulation, Eddy's more concerned about them shutting up so he can watch TV. Though considering that the kids would've assaulted them if they found out that they're unintentionally responsible, it does make sense.
  • Tempting Fate: While putting cold cream on Ed to help with his rash, Eddy uses a spoon to flick the next dose up to Double-D who's standing on Ed with a paint roller. When Double-D snarks about how useful that little squirt will be, Eddy uses a snow shovel for the next one, completely drenching Double-D.
  • Unnecessary Makeover: In-Universe. In cleaning Rolf's cow, Ed dresses her in full makeup, only stopping when he asks for eyeliner and Double D looks up to see the monstrosity Ed's created.
  • Unusual Euphemism: When the Eds discover that Eddy's garage is about to burst with young rabbits:
Edd: Hmm, it seems like Mr & Mrs Bunny have been practicing the multiplication table.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After Rolf agrees to let the Eds watch over his farm, he disappears for the remainder of the episode. He doesn't even return to witness the swarm of baby bunnies. Though he makes a cameo in the final shot of the episode, stranded on the roof of his house like the other kids.
