    In General / Other
  • The character icons sometimes have their own references tied to the character:
    • Mio's winning icon in the freeplay extra song song "Rant" and/or the Fubuki Side "Tutorial" is an edit of the wheeze meme, referencing her habit of Contagious Laughter and wheezes.
    • Haachama's is depicted as "Simplechama", her "true form". Her losing and winning icon is based on her panic emote (based on the CG art for Hanabira from A Kiss For The Petals) and profile picture respectively.
    • Kiara's half of the Takamori losing icon is based on a popular edit of "Crying Aqua" featuring Kiara.
  • The Game Over theme exclusive to Fubuki features a melody that references her memetic "Im.Scatman" video.
  • Aloe's Game Over sprite is similar to the unnatural demonic structure that Girlfriend possesses in the base game. Seeing as both of them are demons (with Aloe being a succubus), this makes sense.
  • The background of the 4.0 Game Banana download of the mod with the text "Holofunk Rap Review" is styled after Kiryu Coco's weekly Reddit Shitpost Review teaser, with Coco and her guest's head peeking from below.
  • The release trailer for 6.0.0 takes after the original trailer for the full version of FNF.
  • The general theme of the shiny Fubuki Random Event, itself also a reference to the rare Palette Swaps in Pokémon, refers to Fubuki's dedicated shiny hunting for a gold Magikarp in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The description of the Shiny Charm in Spamco's shop "27 [god damn.] STREAMS" alludes to the many streams it took Fubuki to finally get a shiny Magikarp.

    Story Mode
In General
  • Much of this mod parallels the vanilla game, with its similar setups in most of its weeks. While this is largely just a remnant of the mod starting off as a simple reskin, later updates would make this more intentional: the "Santa being held at gunpoint in Week 5" being one example.
  • Calli and Coco appearances coincide with many references to their respective favorite games, Persona 3 and Like a Dragon. One blatant example is how the UI changes to match those from Persona 3 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon throughout their Weeks, or in the case of Calli, whenever she's present for the duration of Week 5. All the other references are detailed in the Shout-Out entry on the main page.

Rapping Reaper

  • Nene's method of hiding Aloe from view in her impromptu stream is a mirror of how her Superchat streams typically go — she copies her own VTuber model and spreads her copies across her setup to the point of drowning out the negative space. Her models also have arms of her own Stylistic Suck creation, a recurring gag of affixing these arms for many different game streams. Her actual Live2D model is also featured shrunken down at the bottom-middle of the screen.
  • Calli is known by her nickname of Dad, hence why she's the stand in for Daddy Dearest of the first week in the context of this game originally being a sprite-swap, and why she had a parallel song of FNF's "Dadbattle" with her initial third song "Callibattle" (being a remix of "Off With Their Heads").

Happy HoloEN Month

  • Gura and Ame have sprites depicting them as Super-Deformed chibi characters courtesy of Walfie, a popular fan-artist who would later design official chibi models for HoloMyth. They appears as miss animations, April Fools build sprites, and their scared portrait when meeting the mansion owner. Additionally:
    • They let out a respective "a" and "Hic" while missing. The former's also featured as Gura's Voice Grunts and what she says in response to the aforementioned owner.
    • Gura in two of the miss poses have their own references: left miss pose gives her a sticky note with "DUM" on her head, her choice of head-wear in Among Us; down miss pose gives her cat ears, an add-on feature for her casual wear model.
  • The CG at the end of Week 2 in 5.0 — whether of Nene stealing the necklace or Fubuki being stalked by Haachama — parodies the same end-card setup of a HoloGra episode, complete with the same BGM and subtitle message.
"Don't leave fine jewellery unattended, folks!" / "Investigation ain't easy, folks!"
"If you enjoyed this, stay tuned for Week 3!"

White Lion

  • In the opening CG for Week 3 in 5.0, the moon has Pekora's carrot icon imprinted on it, doubling as an allusion to the Moon Rabbit.

Kiryu Clan Forever

  • Botan rides in on a motorized shopping cart alongside the rest of Fifth Gen in the fourth week. One of Botan's go-to modes of transport in Trials: Rising is the Joke Item shopping cart, which she often rides for the sake of the ragdoll physics-based Amusing Injuries that sends her into fits of laughter.
  • Kiryu Coco's Yakuza clan grunts are distinctly based off the depiction of the overseas viewers/redditors of r/hololive, particularly those who poke fun at Coco's Berserk Button regarding bad Japanese translations; popularized by the "Quantum Chicken Soup Grass Big Chungus" meme that first featured the character. The grunts even utilize Japanglish note  in their dialogue, another trigger for Coco popularized by the aforementioned meme.
    Grunt: Wakarunderstand, Kaichou!
Coco: And enough with the shitty Japanese!

Happy Holo Days

  • The background of Week 5 Haachama's song "Red and Black" features the bloody head of her twin sibling Akai Haato note  adorned on top of the Christmas tree. While an obvious parallel to "Winter Horrorland" in FNF, it being the head of Akai Haato references an infamous moment during the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc where Haachama decapitates Haato for taking over her streams.

HoloDate Funkin'

  • Fubuki's furry depiction of herself, featured in her Reddit profile picture, is made the basis of her design in the game-world of this week.
  • Senpai has the Fan Nickname of "Evil Roberu" among various Virtual YouTubers and their fans, due to his similar brunette Bishonen design with the holostar member. As such, Roberu is the Senpai stand-in for this mod.
  • Korone reaction to her Nintendo Switch getting fried isn't the first instance of her flying into a violent rage over the destruction of a game console — she also did so in episode 97 of HoloGra, when she learns of Polka breaking one of her handhelds.
