- The entire goddamn thing is hilarious for involving actors of all stripes, comedians, Oscar winners, athletes, young, and old, all of them filming themselves on their phones and holding cheap household props (and Legos for distant shots). There is no continuity, actors can change race, age, or even gender from scene to scene. It's the most A-list game of Pretend you will ever see.
- Right from the start, Fred Savage reprises his role as the grandson. Again.
- Notable members of the cast list include:
- J. K. Simmons, Giancarlo Esposito, Sarah Silverman, Robert Wuhl and Adam Sandler as the Grandfather/narrator.
- Jack Black, Jon Hamm, Taika Waititi and Paul Rudd as Westley/The Man in Black
- Pedro Pascal, John Cho, Diego Luna and Javier Bardem as Inigo Montoya
- Dave Bautista and Shaq as Fezzik. Okay, those were appropriate casting, but in one scene towards the end Fezzik is also played by Charlize Theron.
- Rainn Wilson, Nick Kroll and Patton Oswalt as Vizzini
- David Oyelowo and a returning Cary Elwes as Prince Humperdinck
- John Malkovich as the Impressive Clergyman
- Rob Reiner as the grandfather at near the beginning and the grandson at the end, where his own father, Carl Reiner, plays the grandfather (and tells Rob "As you wish"). Carl Reiner died three days after recording his scene, and the work as a whole is dedicated to him.
- One scene reunites Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis as Humperdinck and Rugen respectively. Basically Gollum and Frodo in cahoots.
- The whole "My Name Is Inigo Montoya" fight scene between Bryan Cranston as Rugen and Javier Bardem as Inigo is funny for two reasons. One, we have two of the finest actors in the world play fighting in their homes like children, and two, Bardem is playing the entire scene like he's going for the Oscars, but every time the camera cuts back to him, his 'sword' changes into a different implement, starting with a baguette.
- Paul Rudd doing the To the Pain speech has him giving a very quiet but very powerful performance as the camera slowly zooms in on his face... until he zooms in too close and has to zoom out.
