It's time for bed...
The Sleeper is an American Slasher Movie written and directed by Justin Russell. It was released Direct to Video by Gamma Knife Films on January 31, 2012.

In 1981, a mysterious maniac known only as "The Sleeper" calls and stalks a sorority house, picking the girls there off one by one and killing anyone who gets in his way.

Tropes that can be found in The Sleeper.

  • Axe Before Entering: During the final chase, The Sleeper uses his hammer to break apart a door to get to Amy.
  • Blood from the Mouth: Stacy's boyfriend, Derek, has some after being strangled with a rope.
  • Characters Dropping Like Flies: 11 people are killed in one night.
  • Cop Killer: The Sleeper kills the two officers that Detective Drake had guarding the house.
  • The End... Or Is It?: The film ends with a hospitalized Amy getting a call from The Sleeper.
  • Eye Scream: The pool attendant that allows Stacy to use the natatorium, gets a hammer claw stabbed into her eye socket.
  • Facial Horror: Rebecca dies when The Sleeper crushes and tears off part of her face.
  • Final Girl: Amy, the newbie who was invited to join the sorority, ends up being one of the two survivors of The Sleeper's massacre. She is also the one who takes him down... or at least she thought.
  • Genre Throwback: To 80's slasher flicks, as it takes place in 1981.
  • Harassing Phone Call: The sorority house receives calls from the killer that let everyone know which girl will be killed next, but they aren't taken seriously until people begin disappearing.
  • Killed Offscreen: Detective James, Miss Joy, and Ava are all murdered off-screen and found later. In the cases of the opening victim, Laura, and Bobby, they're killed off-screen completely and their bodies are never shown.
  • Meaningful Name: The killer, who is only credited as "The Sleeper" often speaks about sleep and draws Z's over pictures of his victims.
    "Night night."
    "Go to sleep."
    "It's time for bed."
  • No Full Name Given: The college students are all referred to by their first names, while adults are only referred to by their title and surname. (Miss Joy, Detective Drake, etc.) Even when Bobby tries to report his girlfriend missing to police, giving him a perfectly justifiable reason to reveal a character's full name, he doesn't.
  • No Name Given:
    • The Sleeper, himself.
    • The opening victim is only credited as "First Sister".
    • The pool attendant
    • The guests at the sorority house party
    • Drake's secretary
    • The police officer who shows up at the end.
  • Off with His Head!: Stacy gets decapitated with an axe.
  • Repetitive Name: The only two characters with revealed full names are Officer John Johnson and Matt Matheson.
  • Retraux: The film's cover art invokes the style of an old and worn out VHS box.
  • Slashed Throat: The officer guarding the front of the house gets his throat sliced open with the claw end of a hammer.
  • Stealth Expert: The Sleeper showcases some impressive, if not supernatural stealth; being able to sneak around without making a sound.
  • Villain Opening Scene: The film begins in 1979, where The Sleeper sneaks into a sorority house and kills a girl in her bed.
  • Weaponized Camera: Ava and Laura come across the killer while walking home and end up too distracted by his camera's flash to notice that he's moving closer to them.
