- Comments: An initially shaky fan fic that closely follows the actual story with some deviations that becomes it's own story after the volume 2 finale, getting smoother as it goes along. It includes and gives time to almost all the characters in the show as of the mentioned finale and several Original Characters but still focuses on the growing love triangle between Jaune, Ruby, and Pyrrha. Although it is a romance, it is chalked full of fighting, gore, drama, Reality Ensues, and humor. After 130,000 words, it is now complete, but a sequel taking place in team RWBY's second year at Beacon follows in the same timeline.

- Note: Ah, how I enjoy a good Eclipse story. And this might be one of my favorites. It's engaging and very nice to read. Even gives Sun a much-needed backstory. Author makes it open if the relationship is either platonic or romantic, so overall, it can almost be considered accurate for what Rooster Teeth did in the end. Note I said almost.

- Synopsis: The Cataclysm of Salem has ended, but the story continues with Blake, Sun, and their two children, Dawn and Dusk as they grow and flourish in this brave new world.
- Note: Warning: This fic is extremely long. But it comes with the benefits of amazing writing. M.E. Grimm doesn't have many stories under his/her belt, but every single one of them is amazingly written. He/She take time to check for discrepancies in his/her writing, to make sure that chapters have quality content. This story, in particular, is his/her longest, and perhaps the most heart-warming. The story has many instances of W.A.F.F, especially during the flashback chapters. However, chapters can hit hard, with reality hitting like a truck. The writing style is usually in an omniscient perspective, and DAMN does it work. It gets a little bit sexual at times, but these are few and far in-between. The writer also characterizes everyone extremely well, specifically Blake and Sun (obviously). I can't tell you much more than to just read it yourself.

A beautifully written story where war hero Pyrrha, bathed in the blood of fallen enemies and friends after several years of war, runs away from her life of conflict and meets Jaune, a farmer who never had to travel further than the next village and never had to slay people with his hands, who lived all his life ploughing fields and tending livestock on a frontier farm. Inspired by So God Made A Farmer, a speech by Paul Harvey.

- Synopsis: What does it take to be a hero? What must one give up in order to defend others? What does one gain? What if you don't have the same advantages as everyone else? Jaune will have to find out whether he wants to or not.
- Comments: An AU in featuring Jaune in what is already a Fandom-Specific Plot (Jaune is/becomes a badass), and in which becomes Weiss' partner. What distinguishes this fanfic is how well it is written. The author puts considerable time and care in crafting his alternate-Jaune and Jaune and Weiss' interactions. A few spelling errors here and there, but very minor. Due note though, that due to Jaune's altered circumstances he's not that similar to his canon self, but he's not completely different either.

The story focuses on the relationship between Weiss and Jaune, developing what could be their future if they tried to be together as it also explores their other relationships with the rest of the main cast.

- Comments: A nice bit of backstory for Pyrrha, and how it builds the bond between her and Jaune. Also, Cardin gets pounded to a bloody pulp. Then a little Defeat Means Friendship has Jaune helping Team CRDL with their issues and gives the bully team some characterization.

- Synopsis: It had started as a simple bet. Train the boy in order to prove her own superiority over her peers. It had all been going so well for Weiss. So how was it that Jaune became so entangled in her personal life, and she in his? And why did he seem to be the only person who understood just what she was running away from?
- Comments: A beautifully written story from the outset with the author's descriptive and professional writing style. The title comes from the letters that opens most chapters by Weiss that pens out her thoughts to Winter, or one of Winter's responses. The story slowly develops Weiss and Jaune's relationship over a lengthy span of the work, exploring the parallels of the expectations that both to them experience due to their family names, gradually shifting Weiss's cold and disdainful attitude towards Jaune in what is initially a mentor relationship and opening them up towards each other. A great aspect is that while there are occasionally sweet and hilarious teases, the story puts a lot of time and effort into developing their relationship into an intimate friendship before going into the romance, as well as involving the other characters in the character development of the two principal characters.

- Comments: The very first fanfic to DARE pair Jaune and Nora together, but pulled off so well it turns out to be NOTHING like a crack fic at all! True to form, you'll find yourself grinning from ear to ear from the very beginning at the antics of not only the ever lovable Nora, but the rest of the main eight; all while remaining completely believable and lifelike in its dialogue, detail, and consistency. That said, while Nora is still the epitome of wild randomness, simple-minded hyperactivity, and overwhelming energy, it also fleshes out her character, as she does get her moments. It's also a refreshing change from all the fics that try to turn Jaune into a badass from the get-go, designating him instead as the brains behind Nora's immense brawn. It's also one of the few to alter the beginning, with Nora being Jaune's partner due to a single small happenstance, yet keep going with the dynamic of teams JNPR + RWBY as opposed to mixing it up. If you want a fun-filled, awesome, and lively story with our favorite Butt-Monkey and Cloud Cuckoo Lander, then this is the tale for you!

- Comments: Rated Mature on Fanfic for themes, alcohol use, and canon-appropriate violence. Apart from a few pacing issues, the fic generally does a good job of sticking to canon-ish portrayals of the characters and expanding upon events within the show itself. Set several years in the future, to portray team RWBY as huntresses in their early twenties. Combat scenes are comparatively realistic and close to the in-universe fights and new weapon designs draw on updating historical mixes of melee weapons and firearms.

Each character is exactly how you'd expect them to be.

Especially when said addition is an Irish huntress with a predilection for pink clothes, an affinity for fuchsia Dust, and a disturbing love of hammering her enemies?
- Comments: This is the fourth installment in the Belladonna Lilies AU (and second by this particular author), and it's the only one of the bunch that's firmly within the romance genre. This proved itself to be a comedic, yet lyrical and lush depiction of how our favourite The Stoic and Genki Girl fall in love, set within a "Dust-punk" version of late Victorian England. As a bonus, the Description Porn is almost a B-plot in this fic, and it doesn't detract from the story either.

- Comments: Aside from some minor OOC for Yang early on, the author drives an interesting premise that delivers a comedic and surprisingly sweet pairing between OC Ty and Yang, making for an enjoyable and humorous read.

- Synopsis: In a world where your allies can be just as dangerous as your enemies, sometimes it can be difficult for a criminal mastermind to find a little stress relief. That blond idiot, Jaune, was just unimportant enough, just malleable enough, to be a viable option. It was meant to be a one time thing, an easy lay. Emotions were never supposed to get involved.
- Note: While not a lemon (i.e. no explicit content), the story is rated M for Mature due to the themes it covers such as references to sexual intercourse and some foreplay elements. It diverges from canon a few days prior to the dance in Volume 2.
- Comments: Come for the Crack Pairing, stay for the fascinating portrayal of a believably competent Magnificent Bitch Villain Protagonist and the sheer Dramatic Irony of Jaune unwittingly Dating Catwoman while thinking he's in a normal relationship (and arguably succeeding at it). The story is entirely told from Cinder's very unreliable POV and the author makes a compelling protagonist out of the Big Bad without giving her any Draco in Leather Pants treatment. Cinder is manipulative, awesomely egotist, pragmatic to the point of amorality, and approaches to casual relationships with the same calculating mindset she does to terrorism — all of which ironically makes her wholly unprepared for the guy she takes to her bed.

- Note: This fanfic is probably one of the more engaging stories I've found. Set ten years (and diverging from Vol. 3) after the events of the series, the story focuses primarily on Weiss and her feelings surrounding Ruby and the rest of the team. The characters, even after ten years, feel spot on and the flashbacks Weiss has of her time with Ruby are simultaneously the funniest, cutest, and saddest scenes all around. The author does a fantastic job of making you want to keep reading and if you're a fan of the Bumblebee pairing, the interactions between Yang and Blake are hilarious.

- Note: Second person, Weiss' POV. A beautiful stand alone piece, centered around Ruby and Weiss' relationship in Volume 1. The author does an exceptional job of writing inside Weiss' head, and makes the paired characters vulnerable, but not bleeding hearts, so to speak. The writing feels raw and realistic, supported by the fantastic characterization throughout the entire piece. A short but sweet read.

Ruby is a delinquent, flaunts the rules, and is an unabashed lesbian who has the hots for Weiss, her young teacher and dorm leader. Pretty darn NSFW at points, but incredibly amusing to see what kind of antics these two get up to when trying to keep their illicit relationship under wraps. Neon Katt is Ruby's bestbro and Ciel Soliel is disturbed. Highly recommend.

- Comments: A long one-shot set in the same AU as the equally good The Painter and the Writer by momoxtoshiro, this is one of the best White Rose works out there, natch. The scenery porn and Weiss and Ruby's interactions in particular are top-notch, and the idea of Weiss and team JNPR as a band lends itself well to the fic's setting.

- Synopsis: As the most famous band in existence to date, the Yeatles thought they'd heard it all. A night watching a new London band playing on their home turf forces them to think otherwise - and to think about other things, too.
- Comments: Set in the English summer of 1965, this is probably one of the best-researched musical AU's in the fandom, as well as a loving tribute to the RWBY soundtrack. The romance between the two bands comes off quite naturally, and the setting proves immersive as well. Additionally, the author created artwork of the girls in their stage attire for cover art; the designs alone are quite the drawcard.

- Comments: Considered by many to be the gold standard in Pollination fics. Focuses mainly on the relationship between all four girls of team RWBY and them getting used to each other's extended family, all the while moving towards an earlier than canon conflict with Adam Taurus who's not too happy about his ex-girlfriend sleeping with the enemy; things escalate from there. Plays fast and loose with aspects of canon that the author isn't fond off, but also does an exceptional job of integrating plot elements from volume 4 onwards.

Beginning a year later, this fic focuses on the pain and heartbreak brought on by loving someone who doesn't even remember who you are, as well as the rift that's grow between Weiss and Yang. Starts sad but slowly grows to a happy ending.

The trouble is… he doesn’t know the key pieces for how Beacon fell in the first place and time is running out. If you like the concept of Ozdad and slowburn rosegarden, this is probably the fic for you.
