Avatar: Legend of Diamond Tiara is a direct sequel to Avatar: The Last Alicorn, like its predecessor story, this is a Fusion Fic combining My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic with The Legend of Korra, centering around the adventures of the newest Avatar: Diamond Tiara.
The story has four parts:
- Book 1: Harmony
: Following the events of The Last Alicorn, a new Avatar has risen. A new generation, a new world filled with new technology, countries and factions. Can this Avatar defeat the mysterious Meadowbrook and stop her from removing everypony's cutie marks? - Book 2: Discord: Avatar Diamond Tiara has suffered her first real victory, and in many ways her greatest defeat. Now she finds herself struggling to cope with the realization that she needs far more help than she ever thought. So she must turn to her old lives and, more importantly, Twilight. Together with her friends, can she discover what happened to her previous incarnation and, more importantly, the origins of the Elements of Harmony?
- Book 3: Tirek: Meadowbrook has returned, aided by three of the most dangerous benders the nations have ever known. However, Diamond has a few new friends on her side, the comrades of her past life. Together, can they hope to stop this mare before things get fully out of hoof? Especially with one of her strongest enemies slowly gathering power and awaiting her moment to strike?
- Book 4: Avatars: Silver Spoon has embraced her role as the Avatar of Discord and Diamond has fallen... or so it seems. Is all hope truly lost? As the world of ponies and spirits begin to mix and ponies rise up to, once again, fight off the power of Discord, more questions arise and the true roles and destiny of the Avatar begins to take hold. Will this be the true end of Harmony, or just the beginning of a new world entirely?
This Fic contains examples of:
- Adaptational Badass: In the show Starlight's Staff of Sameness was just an ordinary (if not oddly-shaped) stick she found in the desert. Here it's got actual powers.
- Silver Spoon, being the Avatar of Choas, is more powerful than her canon counterpart.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Silver always came off as less mean then Diamond, but here she's presented as a shy, sweet, Nice Girl. It's subverted in the end, though.
- Adaptational Villainy: Starlight Glimmer was still evil in the show, but she at least had a Freudian Excuse: She saw cutie marks as evil because they caused her only friend to go away.(and she made a Heel–Face Turn in the end anyway) Here, she has no such excuse, with Sunburst secretly being her ally and she is given no apparent motivation for stealing cutie marks aside from possibly obtaining more power.
- Becoming the Mask: She starts out as a False Friend to the new Team Avatar, but as time passes Silver Spoon starts to genuinely consider them to be her friends.
- Being Evil Sucks: Silver Spoon starts thinking this in book 2. It's unknown for now if this will end up with her making a Heel–Face Turn.
- Big Bad: Meadowbrook/Starlight Glimmer in Book 1.
- Silver Spoon in book 2. She actually seems to be the Big Bad of this sequel in general.
- Tirek is probably going to be the one for the third book.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Silver Spoon, after she reveals she's the Avatar of Chaos.
- Expy: Diamond Tiara is one for Korra, right down to them having mastered three elements by the start of the story.
- Composite Character:
- Prism Burst is one of Tenzin and Suyin Beifong.
- Dr. Alicity is one of Hiroshi Sato and Varrick, mostly Varrick.
- Silver Spoon is one of Asami (main supporting female lead) and Unalaq. (secretly-evil ally of the Vaatu Expy and Evil Counterpart to the Avatar)
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: Prince Luna, which makes Button fall in love with him. Even after he realizes Luna's true gender.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Ahuizotl does not like or trust Tirek, likely due to his betrayal.
- The Farmer and the Viper: When Twilight meets Trixie, she forgives her for everything she's done, shows her great kindness, and offers her a chance at redemption. Trixie's response is to kill her when her guard is down and mock her as she lies dying.
- Four Is Death: We find out thanks to Twilight's research, that Discord actually had 4 "generals" who use to follow his will, though each had their own ambitions. It turns out the four are Chrysalis, Tirek, Ahuizotl and The Smooze.
- The third book will have four major antagonists: Tirek (the Big Bad) and Shining Blast, Dazzling Sapphires, and Hothoof.(the Co-Dragons)
- LEGO Genetics: Twilight Sparkle, an Alicorn, got married, and had two kids. One was a firebending unicorn (which makes sense, since Twilight was originally one before becoming the Avatar). But the other was a nonbending Pegasus.
- Little Miss Badass: Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. They end up having an epic duel.
- Manipulative Bastard: As Silver points out, she's fooled everyone, even her own father. She definitely fooled Diamond!
- Mind Rape: Silver Spoon does this to Starlight so she can keep the fact that she's the Avatar of Chaos a secret.
- Mugging the Monster: Poor Starlight and Ahuizotl. Both of them find out Silver Spoon's true nature much too late.
- Mythology Gag: When Diamond Tiara first meets Scootaloo, she gets the urge to call her a blank flank.
- Not Me This Time: Invoked. When our heroes learn Starlight escaped and is attacking them again, they think it's really her. However, it turns out it's really Tirek disguised as Starlight.
- Mythology Gag: Silver Spoon hiding the fact that she's the new Discord plays into a scrapped element from Korra where Asami was originally going to be a Hidden Villain before Mike and Bryan realized they liked Asami too much to do that to.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Blaze gives one to Diamond Tiara after she makes Button run off in tears. The sad part is that Diamond Tiara was just being Innocently Insensitive.
- Reincarnation: Diamond Tiara is Twilight Sparkle's, just like every Avatar.
- Retired Badass: Most of the old Team Avatar Harmony is retired, but clearly still have some spunk left in them.
- Pinkie still has enough energy to break the 4th wall when they visit.
- Rainbow Dash still is aware enough with her air sight to know when her kids are coming to visit.
- Spike is now the new Great Dragon, and is only retired insofar as his responsibilities to his species means he can't go adventuring anymore.
- Sadistic Choice: Silver Spoon gets this in Book 2. She could use her chaos magic to save Button Mash, thus revealing herself as the Avatar of Chaos and ruining all her plans in the process which will also likely cause her to be hated by everyone or she can let Button die, and lose one of her best friends and live the rest of her life knowing she could've saved him. She almost chooses the former, but Button saves himself with his new magmabending.
- Sequel Series: To Avatar: The Last Alicorn.
- Spoiled Brat: Diamond Tiara is this and a Smug Super at first, but Character Development soon takes her out of it and by book 2, she quite humble and kind.
- The Starscream: Downplayed with Chrysalis. While she didn't betray Discord, she abandoned him when he was turned to stone. Played straight with Tirek, who tried to steal Discord's power when he was weakened and got petrified himself for doing so!
- Then Let Me Be Evil: This is Silver Spoon's main reason for remaining evil; she's the Avatar of Chaos, so she thinks she has no choice in the matter. After genuinely coming to see Diamond as her friend, Silver Spoon starts to consider abandoning her "destiny", but after Tirek reveals Silver Spoon's secret, causing Diamond to reject her, Silver Spoon doubles down on being evil.
- Villains Want Mercy: Starlight and Ahuizotl beg Silver Spoon for mercy after they learn her true nature. She spares Ahuizotl because she still sees him as useful, (though she makes him swear to never kill again) but Starlight gets Mind Raped.
- Walking Spoiler: Not much can be said about Silver Spoon without revealing her status as the Avatar of Chaos.
