"Welcome to Brookhell, where no one makes it out unscathed... if you make it out at all."

Brookhaven Academy is a Tumblr based Journal Roleplay that was established in 2012 and ended in 2014.

Various groups of teenagers are sent to a therapeutic school in order to help them with their problems. Unfortunately, things aren't what they seem. Many of the patients have nothing wrong with them, while others are dangers to society. They are put into two separate categories: B's, who are not as severe cases, and A's, who are considered dangerous.

The school is run by the mysterious and chilling Headmistress Hyde, who uses the students more for her own experiments than actually helping them. Under her control she intends to mold/brainwash them into upstanding citizens. There are not many rules within the Academy other than to not hurt your fellow A's. B's, on the other hand, are fair game. In a place that seems helpful to its students from the outside is really a morbid experiment in pushing broken teens to their limits. Where the adults are corrupt and for some escaping is only a pipe dream.

Brookhaven Academy contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents:
    • Joanne's parents were overly religious and beat their daughter for being a Buddhist.
    • Sophia's parents abuse isn't physical, but more psychological since they behave as though their daughter doesn't exist, which caused her disorder to surface.
    • Kirby was often disciplined due to her habit of biting others.
    • Lacey's father beat her constantly. He mentally and emotionally abused her whole family as well.
  • Adults Are Useless: Many of the Doctors, nurses and orderlies are not helpful in any capacity, at times doing more harm than good.
  • Bedlam House: Not a typical example, but Brookhaven is the kind of place no self respecting parent would want to send their child
  • Deadly Prank: Annabel was sent to Brookhaven due to a prank gone wrong resulting in her murdering two people.
  • False Friend: Katie often fakes friendships to get what she wants.
  • Fool for Love: Joanne is easily strung along, but reluctant to say that she's falling for someone even though she kind of does it constantly.
  • Sanity Slippage:
    • Since his sister's 'death' Erik has been falling apart.
    • Joanne had a moment of Sanity Slippage after Audri's suicide.
  • Split Personality: Lacey, Kira and Vaughn all suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Spencer believes that women are in love with him just from simple gestures, and it causes him to become obsessed.
