He's on the team to cause heavy casualties and brutalize enemies more than normal if the team needed to be extra ugly. It's also his position as the "leader" of the Punisher Kill Krew that lets the Savage Avengers know that his mystical enforcers: the Black Knight and the Juggernaut, who's the other "The Brute", are available for recruitment.

Meanwhile Stephen increasingly relies on Conan, once he understands Conan's importance in the fight against Kulan Gath.
- The Protagonist: Savage Avengers is mostly his story from the overall arc against Kulan Gath to his misadventures around the world.
- Power Armor: In the Bad Future, Conan had been given Dr. Doom's armour which he enchanted to specifically hide Conan from Gath's scrying.

Doctor Doom
- Odd Friendship: He's quite chummy with Conan the Barbarian and even approves of hosting the victory feast when Conan had essentially invited the team to eat at Doom's.
- Token Evil Teammate: He's a supervillain and while he has improved a bit morally since his experiences in the Secret Wars (2015), he's largely the Mad Scientist and Evil Sorcerer he's always been. However he's a valuable member of the team and with how nasty Kulan Gath is, he reins in his own worst inclinations so no one complains of his membership.
Juggernaut
- The Big Guy: He provides the real muscle for the team and he really does love a good scrap.
- Punch-Clock Hero: Zig-zagged. He's actually on a redemption arc since going independent from the god Cytorrak, if his pal Frank Castle had asked he'd probably join for free. Instead it was Magik who was with Conan and Cain has beef with her, so Conan had to throw in a small fortune in jewels. After that he's loyal to the team.
Black Knight
- Axe-Crazy: Dane's still a moral guy but he's batshit crazy and addicted to fighting.
- Cool Sword: His Black Sword was instrumental in taking down Sadaurang the dragon and Old Man Conan remembers the weapon and requests the Black Sword from Kang when he fights Kulan Gath solo.
Ghost Rider
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: With Damian Hellstrom not showing up in the final battle, it was Johnny Blaze that gets recruited for the final battle against Kulan Gath to provide the Hellfire.
Kang
- Battle Trophy: Kang has a ship full of trophies from superheroes and villains that have died and he claims to have a hand in each of their demises.
- Friendly Enemy: He's this for Conan. Unlike Dr. Doom who's an actual friend to Conan, Kang sees Conan as a potential rival as the Cimmerian grows to be a major power in alternate realities if he stays in the modern world. So he first tries to kill Conan and failing that strands him in the Hyborian Age. After becoming the Aquilonian King, Conan leaves a challenge message for Kang. An intrigued Kang brings Conan back to New York just to see what he'll do.
- The Sixth Ranger: He's the final member of the team and without his time-travel abilities, the team would not have been able to beat Kulan Gath.
- Token Evil Teammate: He's even more of a supervillain than Dr. Doom, though previously in the King in Black event he's shown to throw in completely with superheroes if they're up against a universe-threatening event. And Kulan Gath counts as one.
