Bosses

    Spitfire

Spitfire

The boss of wave 20.
  • Flunky Boss: Spitfire will show up with Pulsars in Mayhem mode and summon them at regular intervals. Furthermore, elite Pulsars are called upon in Annihilation mode.
  • Playing with Fire: Spitfire fires a concentrated energy orb at the player, which explodes and spawns three serpent-shaped flames that move outwards from the center. Stepping on these flames causes continuous damage to the player.
    Station Omega

Station Omega

The boss of wave 40.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: Its weak spots are the five nubs within the ring, destroying them will deal significant damage to the boss.
  • Flunky Boss: Station Omega can summon defender drones that can shoot Homing Projectiles. In Annihilation mode, the boss can spawn in with a few Myrmidons, and Cherubs will periodically spawn in to provide shields for the boss's weak points. Both of these enemies have healing fields, so the player must prioritize destroying them.
  • Shock and Awe: During the second attack phase of Station Omega, it releases electric orbs from its center that can burn away the player's hull along with several rings of bullets. The player must make good use of screen wrapping if they want to get out unscathed.
  • Battleship Raid: Station Omega takes up nearly half the screen when it appears, causing the screen to zoom out to accommodate its massive size.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Station Omega begins its first attack phase by spinning and firing a massive laser beam from its central core, along with small lasers emanating from the five internal weak points distributed across its body.
    Scion

Scion

The boss of wave 60.
  • Orbiting Particle Shield: Scion is always accompanied by three indestructible orbs that revolve around it, with their distance and orbiting speed varying depending on the current attack phase. In the third phase, the orbs can be at their furthest from Scion, while in the fourth phase, they can rapidly spin around Scion in a tight circle after it drops a singularity.
  • Playing with Fire: In Scion's second attack phase, it unleashes a thermal lance that gradually expands until it covers almost two thirds of the screen.
  • Unrealistic Black Hole: During the fourth and final attack phase, Scion drops a singularity at the center of the screen and then moves away from it. The singularity persists until Scion screen wraps to the other side.
    Warbringer

Warbringer

The boss of wave 80.
  • Bullet Hell: If the player destroys the Warbringer's frontal parts, it will result in the firing of several streams of bullets, which increase in number based on how many parts are destroyed. Destroying all of the front parts will fill the screen with bullets in a matter of moments.
  • Deadly Lunge: Warbringer will dash forward and attempt to ram the player's ship if the player gets too close in front of it.
  • Flunky Boss: Warbringer can call upon a Vanguard to join the battle and provide additional assistance.
  • Grenade Spam: During its Wave-Motion Gun phase, it can deploy two streams of bombs from each broadside.
  • Space Mines: Warbringer has five cluster mines that are deployed from behind. If they detonate, each mine will break into five smaller mines.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: The Warbringer fires five powerful lasers in front of it, one from each of its frontal sections, with the intent of targeting the player ship. Destroying these components will disable this form of attack.
  • Weak Sauce Weakness: Corrosion and Rupture are particularly useful against Warbringer, as the burn or explosion they generate respectively create a chain reaction that leads to the destruction of its parts.
    Seraph

Seraph

The boss of wave 100.
  • Attack Drones: During the electric orb phase, Seraph calls forth three drones that fire black bullets with blue glowing outlines.
  • Bullfight Boss: Seraph darts across the screen, wreathed in a fiery aura reminiscent of the player's Celestial Lance, and aims to collide with the player in its third attack phase.
  • Teleport Spam: Seraph will attempt to take potshots at the player with its four railguns, frequently teleporting to random locations in close proximity right after firing.
  • Sentry Gun: In each corner of the screen, Seraph places a total of eight turrets that are stationary and fire railgun bullets if the player crosses their line of sight.
  • Shock and Awe: Seraph is capable of creating electric orbs that inflict burns on the player, similar to Station Omega, during its first attack sequence. It can also place tesla mines that zap the player when they are in close proximity. Although homing projectiles cannot target the mines, the player can destroy them by directly shooting at them.

Alternate Bosses

    Ceratotitan

Ceratotitan

Ceratotitan, the wave 20 alternate boss, is a blue stag beetle-like creature that is only accessible when the Nemesis challenge mode is enabled.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: When Ceratotitan spreads its wings, it reveals a weak point on its back that can be targeted for increased damage.
  • Bullfight Boss: In an attempt to lunge at the player, Ceratotitan will open its jaws and charge. The frequency of its lunges can vary from one to three.
  • Flunky Boss: It has the ability to summon an insect swarm either from its body or from beyond the screen.
  • Homing Projectile: From its jaws, Ceratotitan can unleash a ring of homing bullets.
  • Tough Beetles: In comparison to Spitfire, Ceratotitan is a much more resilient beetle due to its durable elytra and jaws, which are resistant to damage.
    Dreadnought

Dreadnought

The alternate boss of wave 40.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: If the four red circle turrets on the Dreadnought sustain enough damage, they can be destroyed. While destroying them doesn't cause significant harm, it does reduce the Dreadnought's damage reduction and prevents it from using certain attacks.
  • Energy Ball: Dreadnought can create a massive sphere that will cause damage to the player if they come into contact with it. The boss will then scatter specific bullets that are drawn towards the sphere, and once they enter it, they will rotate around the orb's edges before being expelled in various directions.
  • Lightning Gun: Dreadnought's red turrets shoot electric bolts which follow highlighted paths before striking. This attack is repeated 3 times before Dreadnought moves on to the next attack phase.
  • Weaponized Exhaust: When Dreadnought charges away from the screen, the player can get scorched by its thrusters.
    Dweller

Dweller

The alternate boss of wave 60 in the Nemesis challenge mode, is a pink robotic crab that dwells inside an asteroid, unleashing its minions to launch a relentless attack on you.

  • Giant Enemy Crab: It's an enormous crab hiding within a humongous asteroid.
  • Synchronization: The health of Dweller is linked to the minions it summons, so if any minion is destroyed, Dweller will take damage from it.
  • Weaponized Offspring: Dweller can spawn three different types of crabs of varying size. The largest crabs generate wave projectiles that gradualgrow in size. The medium-sized crabs can start in shoot energy bullets. The smallest crabs are the fastest and have the ability to self-destruct near the player.
    Crucible

Crucible

The alternate boss of wave 60 in the Nemesis challenge mode resembles a twelve-sided dice with three miniature orbs of the same shape revolving around it.
  • More Dakka: Crucible's orbs will each fire a string of bullets directed at the player in its first attack sequence.
  • Tron Lines: Crucible creates intricate symmetric designs composed of fiery lines that encircle its core.
  • Wrap Around: Averted. The presence of Crucible will prevent the player from screen wrapping, causing them to bounce off if they try to go through the edge of the screen. However, certain objects such as constructs, Warp Strike-affected projectiles, and Leviathan's tail are not affected by this restriction.
    Glaucus

Glaucus

The alternate boss of wave 100 in the Nemesis challenge mode. It is modeled after the Glaucus Atlanticus sea slug.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: Attacking its head deals substantial damage to the boss.
  • Breath Weapon: Glaucus can spew out lots of small fireballs, much like the Viper body's Venom Strike projectiles.
  • Homing Projectile: Each body segment of Glaucus is capable of firing small, blue homing bullets.
  • Post-Defeat Explosion Chain: Upon defeat, Glaucus will trigger a series of explosions that will begin with each segment, starting from the head, detonating in turn.
  • Weapons That Suck: Glaucus can generate a potent homing vortex that charges up and exerts a considerable pull. Fortunately, unlike the player's version, it doesn't emit electricity.
