Colorgrave Universe Main Character Index

    In General
  • Divine Conflict:
    • The War of Glass was a war where many of the Gods fought each other due to some of them wanting to have more control over the world of Lyrian than the others.
    • The War of the Scales happened when the Scales fell out with each other, although sources are unreliable as to whether Colorgrave is wholly responsible or not.
  • Elemental Powers: The main Gods of Lyrian are mostly associated with elements. There's Light, Shadow, Water, Earth, Ice, Fire, Wind, Storm, and Metal. Then there's Life and Hate, which seem a bit more abstract.
  • God in Human Form: Revulan easily passes for a human, while Armadel assumes a humanoid form, though it's unknown what she looks like beneath her robes and mask. It's likely that all the Gods can take on a human form if they want to.
    • After being defeated by Zolei, Var was forced into a human form while his power was contained within a sword.
  • Jerkass Gods: Implied to be the reason why the war started, with some of the Gods wanting to rule over the world of Lyrian while the others wanted its people to live freely. Breaking the available Altars in Prodigal''s New Game Plus will anger their respective Gods and have them respond in different ways.
  • Our Gods Are Different: The Gods all have different forms and appear to be able to transform into more humanoid forms as well, if not outright human-looking. Armadel initially appears as a hooded figure, but it's later shown that her true form is a Dragon. Revulan looks like a normal human, but it's unclear if that's what she really looks like or if she has a more monstrous-looking true form. Var's true form has a single eye and no lower body, while Zolei looks like a flying fiery orb.
  • Semi-Divine:
    • It's implied that some of the beings that people refer to as Gods are not real Gods, and instead beings who served certain Gods and were powerful enough to be considered Gods themselves. At least one of them, Raem, refers to herself as the only true God and has a lot of worshippers.
    • The Scales were created by Armadel and are suggested to be very powerful, having the ability to create their own races that are able to use magic.

Gods

    Armadel

The God of Life. She fought against Nyxian in the War of Glass, and also created her own world called Ledamra.
  • The Anti-God: Some hidden text in Prodigal suggests that Nyxian, the God of Hate, was the first God, or at least the first God tasked with guarding the world of Lyrian, before the other Gods were sent to help him. Since Armadel is the God of Life, which appears to be the opposite of Hate, that would make her the Anti-God to Nyxian.
  • Being God Is Hard: She was upset when her daughters fought amongst each other and caused a war in her world, banishing one of them and her people and then leaving again while crying. It's hinted that she has regrets about what she did.
  • Dragons Are Divine: While she first appears as a hooded humanoid, it's eventually revealed that her true form is a dragon.
  • The Faceless: In her humanoid form, her face is either obscured by a hood or covered with a mask. Although, given her divine nature, it's possible that the darkness with two glowing eyes that she's shown to have without her mask might be what she really looks like.
  • Fertility God: She's the God of Life, and her daughters were born from her scales.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: She does this unintentionally in Curse Crackers, sometimes appearing in Grevenfel in her humanoid form. Belle thinks she's just dressed up for All Scales (a Fictional Holiday where everyone wears the same robes and mask as Armadel in order to share their secrets with each other without judging based on their appearances) too early.
  • God Is Displeased: The War of the Scales ended with her returning, upset with her daughters and Colorgrave in particular, whom she banished to the Colorless Void along with the rest of the Graven.
  • Leitmotif: "Masked", a song that plays during the battle with her in Prodigal, and "Unmasked", a song that plays in the artifact room in Curse Crackers. The former is short and fast-paced, while the latter is slower and more relaxed. Curse Crackers also has "A Scale is Told", which plays at the beginning when we learn about how she created the world of Ledamra and her seven daughters.
  • The Maker: She created the world of Ledamra and the seven Scales, who then created their own races.
  • Mother Goddess: As the God of Life, she created her own world and its people, and is worshipped by most of them.
    Light God
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lightspirit4.png
The God of Light. She fought against Nyxian in the War of Glass, and worries about the return of Veritus.
  • The Faceless: She has no dialogue sprite in Prodigal, and her overworld sprite always has her with her back turned to the player.
    Veritus
The God of Shadow. He fought for Nyxian in the War of Glass, and was eventually defeated and his pieces were scattered across the world.
  • Dark Is Evil: He fought for the God of Hate, and some people warn that he must not be brought back together.
  • God of Darkness: As the God of Shadow, he has control over the darkness.
  • Pieces of God: After being defeated, to ensure that he wouldn't come back, he was split into pieces, mainly his hands, eyes, and bones, and left in various places all over the world. However, two of these pieces are brought back together in Prodigal, and it seems that he will be fully restored in Veritus, the game named after him.
    Revulan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/port_revulan_1_1_1.png
The God of Storm. She currently leads of a group of pirates and other followers, and plans to conquer as much land as she can.
  • God in Human Form: Her only appearances so far have been in her human form; it's unknown if that is her only form or if she has another form that looks less human.
  • Shock and Awe: She has lightning powers strong enough to One-Hit Kill people, and gives you the Storm Blessing during Prodigal's post-game quest.
  • The Unfought: You never fight her directly in Prodigal, though given that her powers can instantly deplete all your HP, you probably wouldn't stand a chance anyway.

Other Worshipped Beings

    Zolei
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/secretfinalsheet_88.png
A being associated with the sun and light, who is worshipped by the Estarosans.
  • Cain and Abel: Since Var is meant to be the opposite of him, and also had his own worshippers, the two fought until Var was killed and forced into a mortal human form.
  • Enemy Mine: If you break his Altar in Prodigal, he'll actually come and help Var fight you in the Lighthouse.
  • Ethnic God: He and his brother are (or were in the latter's case) worshipped by the people of Estarosa.
  • God of Light: He is associated with the sun and the day, and the Estarosans him as this, though it's implied that he isn't actually a real God despite his non-human appearance. It's unclear how much association he has with the actual God of Light, though.
  • Light Is Not Good: Breaking his Altar in Prodigal will anger him, and he'll actually come to help his brother fight you in the Lighthouse. There's also the fact that he's responsible for his brother being trapped in a mortal form in the first place.
  • Playing with Fire: Due to his association with the sun, he can attack you with flames.
  • The Power of the Sun: He looks like a sun and is worshipped by the Estarosans as a Light God, and can also attack with fire.

    Var

Click here to see his human form
A being associated with the night and darkness, who was once worshipped by the Estarosans.
  • Cain and Abel: He and his brother Zolei were worshipped by the Estarosans, but Zolei killed him and trapped him in the form of a human while sealing the rest of his power into a sword.
  • Enemy Mine: If you break the Altar to Zolei in the New Game Plus of Prodigal, Zolei himself shows up to the second fight against him in the Lighthouse to help him fight you. Var even mentions that it's an "enemy of my enemy" situation.
  • God in Human Form: He was killed and turned into a mortal by Zolei. In Prodigal, he seeks to restore his power and his true form by becoming Pa's blacksmith apprentice known as Bolivar, and asking Oran to find the items he needs to repair his sword.
  • God of Darkness: He is associated with darkness and the night, the opposite of Zolei's association with the sun and light. It's hinted that he isn't an actual god, though, but it's implied that he was once a servant of Veritus, the actual dark God.
  • One-Winged Angel: During the second fight against him in Prodigal, he turns into what appears to be a shadow-like being with light-coloured flames. When he turns into the True Final Boss, he becomes a giant, one-eyed purple being with tendril-like hair and no legs.
  • Terms of Endangerment: He calls Oran "Cesa", which means "Friend" in Estarosan, and keeps calling him that even after he kills Pa and Sheriff Vann, and attempts to kill Oran himself.
  • Treacherous Quest Giver: In Prodigal, the items he asked you to retrieve from the first four dungeons were so he could repair the sword containing his power in order to reclaim it. Once he has them, he kills Pa and the Sheriff, and almost kills Oran as well.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's hard to say anything about him without revealing that he's the villain of Prodigal's main story.
    Raem
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raemaltar.png
A being who claims to be the only God that exists, and is worshipped primarily by the Revante, who are spreading her influence to the other races of Lyrian.
  • Bolt of Divine Retribution: Breaking her Altar in Prodigal's New Game Plus will anger her and cause her to fire beams at you whenever you're in a dungeon, even during boss battles.
  • Crystal Dragon Jesus: Her worshippers have churches dedicated to her that are very much like Christian churches, and she's also depicted as an angelic being.
  • Healer God: She's more associated with light, but praying at the church in Prodigal has a chance of giving you an extra vitality point if your HP is full (provided you haven't broken her Altar), and the church also has an infirmary where Lynn works.
  • God of Light: Most people think she is one, with them worshipping her for it, and she likes to call herself a God as well, but it's hinted that she isn't the actual God of Light and instead a being who isn't even from Lyrian.
  • Light Is Not Good: Even though most places depict her as good, there are hints that she's not as good as she appears, and has a selfish side. She considers herself the only true God even though she might not be an actual God at all, and if you break her Altar in Prodigal, she'll become angry and try to attack you every time you visit a dungeon.
  • Patron God: She can bless her worshippers and give them some extra vitiality when they pray to her. That said, she didn't give any help to Sir Oswin Vann when he was trying to remove the souls from Var's sword and prevent him from regaining his true form, to the point where he believed she never really cared about him despite his dedication to her.
  • Religion is Magic: She blesses people who pray to her, and her priests can also pass on her blessings, such as when Father Xavier blesses the Cursed Pickaxe in Prodigal and offers to bless you as well.

The Scales

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scales_1.png
Seven daughters created from the scales of the dragon who created Ledamra, Armadel.
  • Giant Woman: They are all very large, enough that most of the other characters are smaller than their faces.
  • Horned Humanoid: The ones we've seen so far have horns, although Lorebright appears to have antlers instead.
    Colorgrave
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/colorgrave.png
The creator of the Graven, who was banished along with them after the War of the Scales.

For her tropes, see Colorgrave Universe The Colorless Void.

    Blindgaze
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blindgaze.png
The creator of the Gazen, who lives with most of them on Ledamra's remaining moon.
  • Because Destiny Says So: She seems to believe this, saying in Curse Crackers that the meteor that Leer and Tedra have directed towards the moon can't be stopped, although she does believe that there is something that can be done about it. That said, she does refuse to give Belle her blessing to open the Dawn gate.
    Oathbind
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oathbind.png
The creator of the Oathen, who split herself into many swords during the War of the Scales.
  • Pieces of God: More like a Demigod, but during the War of the Scales, she split herself into 77 blades for the Oathen warriors to fight with, one of which was much bigger than the others. Collecting all 25 of the hidden Oath Blades in Curse Crackers will result in bringing her back.
    Lorebright
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lorebright.png
The creator of the Loren, who spends most of her time reading in a tower.
  • Berserk Button: She does not react well when Belle mentions Vivian after going through a portal to her tower, and traps her in a book until Chime convinces her to let her go. It's also implied that Lorebright is the one who turned Vivian into a child after being tricked by her.
  • Narrator All Along: It's heavily implied that she's the one who narrates the opening of Curse Crackers, as the sound for the "voice" at the beginning is the same pitch as hers, and the images in the opening are in a similar style to that of the Cursed Book.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Unlike the other Scales we've seen so far, she has antlers instead of horns.
