Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

Video Games: Please replace the Assassins Creed entry as follows:

  • ''Assassin's Creed': While most targets in the first game are literal cases of a Knight Templar, the same can not be said for Majd Addin, the de facto dictator of Jerusalem who regularly orders and personally carries out executions of innocent people. Unlike all the other targets, he does not think that he is doing something good, he is not crazy or blind, he executes all these people for fun. When he is finally killed by Altaïr, Altaïr chews him out for killing innocents for "thinking differently than [Majd]", he responds:
—>Majd Addin: For thinking differently? Of course not! I killed them because I could! Because it was fun! Do you know what it feels like to determine another man's fate? And did you see the way the people cheered? The way they feared me? I was like a god!

Tropes Needing Images ought to be added to Administrivia under the main list for "Special projects", and The Ptitle Replacement System moved up to "Technical help" as the replacement project is long over.

On Sonichu, please move Villain Decay from YMMV to the main page, since it's not YMMV.

ETA: It's on "Unexpected Reactions To This Index", which itself is YMMV, but Villain Decay itself is not marked YMMV. So is it a YMMV or not?

Please could I request a deletion of the Inuyasha entry on the Five-Man Band trope? I went to the Five-Man Band clean-up thread with my concerns and there was agreement that it should be removed.

The discussion is here.

New bathc of writeups for the CM pages! (also, please cut the Act Of Valor examples from the film page as we'd decided on cutting them long ago

To the Monster.Film page:

  • Pyriel, The Whited Sepulcher of The Prophecy film series' third film is an Omnicidal Maniac of an angel, having assumed the mantle of the 'Angel Of Genocide.' While his former leader Gabriel simply balked at having humanity placed above angels and genuinely loved their Father, Pyriel fancies himself and has his followers call him the new God and that his mission is to help the 'monkeys' perish, adding "Genocide...it happens now and then." His mercilessness extends to his own angel brethren as he has his fallen brothers captured and tormented in horrible agony. When confronted by the hero, the Nephalim Danyael, Pyriel attempts to kill him by sadistically crushing his skull and shoving his thumbs through his eyes, grinning the entire time.

  • Charles Rane, the Rane Of Terror of Passenger 57 is a Terrorist Without A Cause who enjoys causing mayhem For the Evulz. When being transported aboard a plane, Rane murders the agents guarding him to hijack the jet. When the hero, Cutter, tries to stop him, Rane takes a hostage, coaxing the man's name and the fact he has a daughter from him. Rane calmly informs Cutter: "This is Douglas. He has a daughter who loves him. and she until your interference, had a father." before executing the man simply to show his point. Rane later attempts to have the entirety of the civilian hostages executed when the government won't comply with his demands

  • The Untouchables presents Frank Nitti as a Psycho for Hire for Al Capone. Introduced early on as Capone's main enforcer and hitman, Nitti is seen bombing a restaurant with a little girl inside, not caring that she's killed as well. Through the film, Nitti handles Capone's wetwork, ruthlessly murdering anyone in his way with barely disguised relish, slaughtering two policemen on The Untouchables squad and writing 'touchable' on the wall in their blood and later gunning down tough Irish cop Malone. He threatens Elliot Ness's family if he won't drop his case. Nitti later attempts to rub his own status as untouchable in Ness's face, even taunting him that Malone 'died screaming like a stuck Irish Pig,' which finally makes even the composed Ness snap.

Also, on the Monster.Film page, please refer to the 12970 post and swap out the entries on the film page with the rewrites there. Same pages, swap out Harry Powell's writeup with Random Troper's at 12969

To the Monster.Marvel page

  • Malekith the Accursed, one of the foes of The Mighty Thor. Malekith is the cruel ruler of the dark elves of Svartleheim, whom even his people hate and fear. Malekith, serving as the harbinger of Surtur, hunts for the Casket of Ancient Winters, murdering any who get in his way. Malekith in his spare time also hunts down goodhearted, virtuous people, and devours their souls as the souls of the virtuous are a delicacy for him. When he grows to hate Thor, Malekith is too happy to sacrifice or torture his own people to get at the Thunder God and unleashed the Casket of Ancient Winters to plunge Earth into a frozen wasteland to hurt Thor and unleash Surtur. Malekith plans to let Surtur burn every realm, with no care if his fellow Dark Elves are caught in the blaze, as long as he profits from it. Even after his death, the Dark Elves view him as a despised figure.

On the Monster.Comic Books page, replace the Noriko entry with:

  • Noriko, known as the Blood Princess has had homicidal tendencies since childhood, where she would always beat her cousin Tomoe in spars to inflict as much pain as she could. In the present day, Noriko runs a mine, using slaves that have been press-ganged into service and worked to the point of death. Should any slave falter, Noriko promptly beheads the nearest one to serve as a morale-booster for the others. When she captures Tomoe, Noriko delights in treating her as a slave and when Tomoe refuses to perform the labor, Noriko furiously cuts down a random slave woman. When Tomoe immediately obeys to stop more death, Noriko sneers at her for caring about those of low birth. To conceal the mines, Noriko plans to blow it up, with every slave inside after all its resources are gone. She also reveals that she and Tomoe are actually ''sisters'' and when their father refused to acknowledge Noriko as his daughter, she murdered him, just as she had the man who raised her for for being weak. She reveals this while savagely beating Tomoe, taunting her that it's Tomoe's fault that he died.

Add to the Monster.Live Action TV page:

  • Duane Mellor of the short-lived anthology Fear Itself managed to establish himself as more monstrous than a Wendigo of the same show. A Cajun Serial Killer and Eater, Mellor was arrested for torturing, murdering and eating vast amounts of innocent people, often keeping them alive for days so he could cut pieces off and eat them. Once captured, Mellor waits until the graveyard shift before using a voodoo ritual, devouring the souls of several officers with their hearts to take their forms and play a sadistic game of cat and mouse with the young female rookie cop on duty, solely because "I particularly like it when my prey is frightened." When his patience is exhausted, he simply goes for the kill. The only thing close to a standard Mellor showed was his disdain for being called a serial killer: He was An ''Eater'', big difference.

Request for edit to Final Fantasy VII, under Hollander's profile in the Antagonists folder.

  • Luke, I Am Your Father: It's implied that Hollander is Angeal's biological father, telling him at once point "do it for our family!" which angers Angeal and prompts him to reply his father is dead. Developer materials state that Gillian's husband was Angeal's stepfather, and Angeal was raised never knowing he wasn't his real father. However, the developers also refuse to confirm or deny if Angeal's biological father was Hollander, saying "it's a secret".

A line on the currently locked Gush.Lets Play represents the only incorrectly namespaced link to Super Metroid. Could the line;

  • As long as we're talking Slowbeef, his Justin Bailey run of Super Metroid has to be seen to be believed, and his recently completed second LP of Snatcher, co-starring Diabetus and sometimes Cherry Doom, is also fantastic.

Be amended to;

Currently on the page for Adolf Hitler it says:

"See Benito Mussolini for his less famous and considerably more incompetent Italian counterpart."

If that could be changed to:

"See Benito Mussolini for his less famous and considerably more incompetent Italian counterpart, and Hideki Tojo for his Japanese ally and partial counterpart."

@6419 - how does it not fit now? It's formatted the same as other tropes on the page including another instance of that same trope.

EDIT - addition edit request for Final Fantasy VII, providing context for examples to Minerva's profile at the bottom of the page. (also where would we go to discuss unprotecting pages because I think it's been a while and maybe it could be un-protected to see if whatever edit warring was occurring has died down?)

  • Action Girl: Easily the most powerful enemy in Crisis Core.
  • Badass Cape: Wears a pair of large white cloaks that hang from her armor.
  • Big Good: Guardian of the Lifestream, goddess of LOVELESS, and protector of the planet.
  • Bonus Boss: The game's strongest enemy, fought at the end of a long chain of difficult Missions.
  • Gold and White Are Divine: Wears gold and white armor and has blond hair.
  • Hot Goddess: She is very lovely to look at and happens to be a deity.
  • Valkyrie: Her armor and general appearance have this vibe.

DTH except for 6418. Septimus is right; entries that are gigantic blocks of nothing but spoiler text are technically not valid. Please rewrite 6418 (and, eventually, all the other entries that are like that) to keep the spoiler text to a minimum.
