General

A number of films received the Market-Based Title of 神鬼XX (Incredible XX) in Taiwan and Hong Kong, even though they are completely unrelated.
- The Boondock Saints became 神鬼尖兵 (Incredible Vanguards) in Taiwan. It was known as 处刑人 (The Sentencers) in Mainland and 義行者 (The Vigilantes) in Hong Kong.
- Catch Me If You Can became 神鬼交鋒 (Incredible Duel) in Taiwan. It was titled 猫鼠游戏 (Game of Cat and Mouse) in Mainland.
- Gladiator became 神鬼戰士 (Incredible Warrior) in Taiwan. It was known as 帝國驕雄 (Proud Hero of the Empire) in Hong Kong and the literal 角斗士 in Mainland.
- The Pirates of the Caribbean series became 神鬼奇航 (Incredible/Supernatural Voyage) in Taiwan. It had the literal title 加勒比海盜 for the entire franchise in Mainland and from the second film onwards in Hong Kong.
  - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl became 鬼盜船魔咒 (The Curse of the Haunted Pirate Ship) in Taiwan and 魔盜王決戰鬼盜船 (Pirate King Battles the Ghost Ship) in Hong Kong.
  - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest possibly has the most confusing translations of the franchise in Hong Kong and Taiwan. In the former, it became 決戰魔盜王 (Versus the Pirate King, as in, the one who previously "battled the ghost ship"), and in the latter, 加勒比海盜 (Pirates of the Caribbean), just to put question marks over Mainland and Hong Kong moviegoers.
  - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End became 魔盜王終極之戰 (Pirate King's Ultimate Battle) in Hong Kong.
  - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales became 惡靈啟航 (Evil Spirits Set Sail) in Hong Kong.
Many Arnold Schwarzenegger movies has the word "魔鬼" ("Monster") in the title in Taiwan, in reference to the title of The Terminator (魔鬼終結者, Monster Terminator, more translations in the entry below).
- Commando became 魔鬼司令 (Monster Commander). It was known as 獨闖龍潭 (Infiltrating the Dragon's Lair Alone) in Hong Kong.
- Eraser became 魔鬼毀滅者 (Monster Annihilator). In Hong Kong it was titled 蒸發密令 (Order to Erase).
- Last Action Hero became 最後魔鬼英雄 (Last Monster Hero). It was titled 幻影英雄 (Phantom Hero) in Mainland.
- Total Recall (1990) became 魔鬼總動員 (Monster Generalization). It was called 宇宙威龍 (Valiant of the Universe) in Hong Kong.
- True Lies became 魔鬼大帝：真實謊言 (Monster Emperor: True Lies).
- The most egregious example has to be The Running Man, which straight up became 魔鬼阿諾 (Monster Arnold). It was titled 威龍猛將 (Fearless Valiant) in Hong Kong and 过关斩将 (Prevail) in Mainland.
- This even applied to comedies as well. E.g. Junior and Kindergarten Cop became 魔鬼二世 (Monster Jr.) and 魔鬼孩子王 (Monster King of Children) respectively.

10 Things I Hate About You was known as 對面的惡女看過來 (Look over Here, Bad Girl) in Taiwan, a Shout-Out to a Chinese pop song titled "對面的女孩看過來" ("Look over Here, Girl").
10 to Midnight became the similar 處刑在午夜 (Execution at Midnight) and 午夜处刑人 (Midnight Executioner) in Taiwan and Mainland respectively.
12 Monkeys became 未來總動員 (Mobilization for the Future) in Taiwan.
24 Hours to Live became 24小时：末路重生 (24 Hours: Rebirth at the End).
28 Days Later was titled 惊变28天 (28 Days of Shocking Mutations) in Mainland and 28天毀滅倒數 (28-Day Countdown to Doom) in Taiwan.
- For 28 Weeks Later, all three regions simply replaced the "天/日" ("Days") with "周/週" ("Weeks"), with Taiwan adding the subtitle 全球封閉 (Global Lockdown).
3 Idiots was titled 三傻大闹宝莱坞 (3 Idiots Mess Around Bollywood) in Mainland and 作死不離3兄弟 (3 Inseparable Brothers) in Hong Kong.
Above the Law (1988) became 熱血高手 (Hot-Blooded Master) in Taiwan and 赤手威龍 (Bare-Handed Master) in Hong Kong.
Ace Ventura was known as 神探飞机头 (Detective God with a Quiff) in Mainland, as well as 王牌威龍 (Ace Valiant) in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
- The sequel Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls was known as 王牌威龍2：非洲大瘋狂 (Ace Valiant 2: Africa Craze) in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Aguirre, the Wrath of God became 天譴 (Scourge) in Taiwan.
Airplane! was titled 空前絕後滿天飛/空前绝后满天飞 (Unprecedented Flight) in all regions.
Akeelah and the Bee was 拼出新世界 (Spelling a New World) in Taiwan, utilizing 拼's other meaning of "to strive".
The Alien series is known as 异形/異形 (Xenomorph) in all regions.
- Aliens was titled 異形續集 (Xenomorph: The Sequal) in Hong Kong, whereas both Taiwan and the mainland titled it numerically.
- Alien: Resurrection was titled 异形4：逆种 (Xenomorph 4: Rogue Species) in Mainland and 異形4：浴火重生 (Xenomorph 4: Rebirth in Fire) in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
- Alien: Covenant was titled 異形：聖約 (Xenomorph: Holy Covenant) in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
American Beauty became 美國心玫瑰情 (American Heart with a Love Like Rose) in Taiwan and 美麗有罪 (Guilty for Beauty) in Hong Kong.
American Hustle became 騙海豪情 (Hustle Aspirations) in Hong Kong and 瞞天大佈局 (Sky-Deceiving Arrangement) in Taiwan.
American Psycho became 美國殺人魔 (American Murderer) in Taiwan and 美色殺人狂 (Murderer of Beauties) in Hong Kong, "美色" being a Cantonese pun on "美式" ("American-style").
The Amityville Horror (1979) became 鬼屋 (Haunted House) in Taiwan. It was known as 鬼哭神嚎 (Ghost Cry) in Mainland, which is almost the same as the Taiwanese title for Poltergeist (1982) (see below), differentiated by only one character.
- The 2005 remake was titled 陰宅 in Taiwan, which is another name for Haunted House. It was known as 靈時3點3 (Haunted Hour 3:03) in Hong Kong.
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy became known as 王牌播音员 (Ace Anchor/Announcer) in Mainland, 搶閘男主播 (Scrambling Anchor) in Hong Kong, and 銀幕大角頭 (Big Boss of the Silver Screen) in Taiwan.
Antichrist became 撒旦的情與慾 (Satan's Passions and Desires) in Taiwan and 失落伊甸園 (Eden Lost) in Hong Kong.
Argo was released as 逃离德黑兰 (Escape from Tehran) in the mainland, 亞果出任務 (Mission Argo) in Taiwan, and ARGO–救參任務 (Argo: Rescue Mission) in Hong Kong.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford was known as 神枪手之死 (Death of a Gunslinger) in Mainland, 叛逆暗殺 (Assassination of Betrayal) in Hong Kong, and 刺殺傑西 (The Assassination of Jesse) in Taiwan, the latter of which is simplified from the English title.
Austin Powers became 王牌大賤諜 (Ace Cheap Spy) in Taiwan, a pun on "間諜" ("spy").
Awake (2007) was titled 夺命手术 (Fatal Surgery) in Mainland, 離魂驚殺 (Out-of-Body Murder) in Hong Kong and 索命麻醉 (Lethal Anesthesia) in Taiwan.
Baahubali became 帝國戰神：巴霍巴利王 (Empire's God of War: King Baahubali) in Taiwan.
The Babadook became 鬼敲門 (Ghost Knocking) in Taiwan.
Babe was known as 我不笨，所以我有話說 (I'm Not Stupid, Therefore I Have Something to Say) in Taiwan.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was titled 西部老巴的故事 (The Story of Ol' Buster of the West) in Taiwan, and 細說當年話西部 (Detailed Accounts of the Old West) in Hong Kong.
Barry Lyndon became 亂世兒女 (Children of Turmoil) in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Batman Begins became 蝙蝠俠—俠影之謎/蝙蝠侠：侠影之谜 (Batman: Mystery of the Hero) in Hong Kong and Mainland.
Battle Royale was initially titled 生存遊戲 (Game of Survival) when it was screened at the 38th Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan. It was later renamed 大逃杀/大逃殺 (Escape from the Great Killing) when it was released in all regions, and was later borrowed to refer to the video game genre.
A Beautiful Mind was titled 有你終生美麗 (Life is Forever Beautiful with You) in Hong Kong and 美麗境界 (Beautiful Extent) in Taiwan.
The Big Lebowski became known as 大保齡離奇綁架 (The Bizarre Kidnapping of Big Bowling) in Hong Kong and 謀殺綠腳趾 (Murdering Green Toe) in Taiwan.
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage became 摧花手 (Flower Destroyer) in Hong Kong.
One of the Chinese titles for The Birds was 群鸟 (Flock of Birds).
The Black Belly of the Tarantula became 摧花奪命針 (Destructive Needle) in Hong Kong.
The Black Dahlia became 艷屍案中案 (The Case Within a Case of the Sexy Corpse) in Hong Kong.

- The sequel averts this, with it becoming 銀翼殺手2049/银翼杀手2049 in all major Sinophone regions.
Black Dynamite became 黑色決殺令 (Black Kill Order) in Taiwan.
Bonnie and Clyde was translated to 雌雄大盜 (The Robber Couple) in Hong Kong and 我倆沒有明天 (No Tomorrow for the Two of Us) in Taiwan.
Das Boot was given the title 从海底出击/從海底出擊 (Strike from Under the Sea) in all regions.
Boyhood was titled 我們都是這樣長大的 (We Grew Up Like This) in Hong Kong.
Bram Stoker's Dracula became 吸血鬼：真愛不死 (Vampire: True Love Never Dies) in Taiwan, 吸血殭屍：驚情四百年 (Vampire Corpse: 400 Years of Fright) in Hong Kong, and the similar 吸血惊情四百年 (Vampire: 400 Years of Fright) in Mainland.
Braveheart is known as 驚世未了緣 (The Unending Love that Shock the World) in Hong Kong, and 梅爾吉勃遜之英雄本色 (Mel Gibson's True Colors of a Hero) in Taiwan. In the Mainland, it is known as the literal 勇敢的心.
Bruce Almighty became known as 冒牌天神 (Impostor God) in Mainland, 衰鬼上帝 (Prankster God) in Hong Kong and 王牌天神 (Ace/Alpha God) in Taiwan.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer became 魔法奇兵 (Magic Mischief) in Taiwan.
Bullet to the Head became 頭號目標 (Top Priority Target) in Taiwan and 重彈頭 (Heavy Bullet) in Hong Kong, both playing on the character "頭" ("head").
The Burning became 煉獄 (Purgatory) in Taiwan.

The Crow (1994) became 龍族戰神 (Dragon Family's God of War) in Taiwan, a Shout-Out to lead actor Brandon Lee's father Bruce Lee, whose Chinese stage name is 李小龍 (lit. "Little Dragon Li").

Darkest Hour (2017) became 黑暗對峙 (Dark Stand-Off) in Hong Kong.
Dave became known as 霧水總統 (Befuddled President) in Hong Kong and 冒牌總統 (Phony President) in Taiwan.
Dawn of the Dead (2004) became 活人生吃 (Live People Eaten Raw) in Taiwan and 活死人凶間 (Evil Realm of the Living Dead) in Hong Kong.
The Death of Stalin was known as 弊傢伙！史太林死咗 (Oh No! Stalin's Dead) in Hong Kong and 史達林死了沒？ (Is Stalin Dead?) in Taiwan.
Deep Impact was titled 天地大冲撞 (Heaven and Earth Collide) in Mainland, which resembles one of the English taglines ("Heaven and Earth are about to collide"). It was known as 末日救未來 (Saving Future from the Apocalypse) in Hong Kong and 彗星撞地球 (Comet Hits Earth) in Taiwan.
Deep Red became 嚇壞人 (Scare Your Wits Out) in Hong Kong, 深夜止步 (Hold Your Steps at Midnight) in Taiwan and 夜深血红 (Night is Deep, Blood is Red) in Mainland.
Because The Departed is a remake of the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs (无间道/無間道, literally Avīci, or Unending Hell), in all regions the localized title references the latter. In the mainland, it's 无间行者 (Those who Walk on the Unending Hell), in Hong Kong it's 無間道風雲 (Turbulence of the Unending Hell), and in Taiwan it's 神鬼無間 (Gods and Devils in the Unending Hell).
The Devil Wears Prada is known as 穿普拉达的女王 (The Queen Wears Prada) in mainland China.
Die Hard became 虎膽龍威 (Tiger's Guts and Dragon's Might) in Hong Kong and 終極警探 (The Ultimate Detective) in Taiwan.
- A Good Day to Die Hard became 虎膽龍威：擇日開戰 (Tiger's Guts and Dragon's Might: Choose Your Day to Fight) in Hong Kong and 終極警探5：跨國救援 (Ultimate Detective: International Rescue) in Taiwan.
The Dirty Harry series was known as the 辣手神探 (Ruthless Detective) series in Hong Kong, which would later be borrowed by Hard Boiled.
- Dirty Harry was known as 辣手神探奪命槍 (Ruthless Detective's Deadly Gun) in Hong Kong, and 緊急追捕令 (Emergency Bounty) in Taiwan.
- Magnum Force was known as in 辣手神探追魂槍 (Ruthless Detective's Soul-Chasing Gun) in Hong Kong, and 緊急搜捕令 (Emergency Search Warrant) in Taiwan.
- The Enforcer was known as 辣手神探冲天炮 (Ruthless Detective's Skyward Cannon) in Hong Kong, and 全面追捕令 (All-Out Bounty) in Taiwan.
- Sudden Impact was known as 辣手神探勇勁沖天 (Ruthless Detective Bravely Soars), and 撥雲見日 (Clouds Make Way for the Sun) in Taiwan.
- The Dead Pool was known as 辣手神探虎探追魂 (Ruthless Detective's Tigerly Soul-Chase), and 賭彩黑名單 (Casino Blacklist) in Taiwan.
Django was titled 荒野一匹狼 (A Wolf in the Wilderness) in Taiwan.
Dollars Trilogy is known as 镖客三部曲/鏢客三部曲 (Escorter Trilogy) in Mainland and Taiwan, and 獨行俠三部曲 (Lone Wolf Trilogy) in Hong Kong.
- A Fistful of Dollars was titled 荒野大镖客/荒野大鏢客 (The Great Escorter of the Wilderness) in Mainland and Taiwan, which was based on the Taiwanese translation of Yojimbo (大鏢客, The Great Escorter), the film that Fistful... was remade from. It was translated to 獨行俠連環奪命槍 (Lone Wolf's Deadly Six-Gun) in Hong Kong.
- For a Few Dollars More was named 黄昏双镖客/黃昏雙鏢客 (Escorter Duo in the Dusk) in Mainland and Taiwan, and 獨行俠江湖伏霸 (Lone Wolf Subdues Hegemons in Jianghu) in Hong Kong.
- The Good, the Bad and the Ugly was called 黄金三镖客 (Golden Escorter Trio) in Mainland, 黃昏三鏢客 (Escorter Trio in the Dusk) in Taiwan, and 獨行俠決鬥地獄門 (Lone Wolf Duels at the Gates of Hell) in Hong Kong.
Don't Breathe was titled 暫時停止呼吸 (Pause Your Breathing) in Taiwan and 禁室殺戮 (Massacre in the Forbidden House) in Hong Kong.
Downfall (2004) had the similar title 帝国的毁灭 and 帝國毀滅 (Downfall of the Reich) in Mainland and Taiwan respectively. In Hong Kong, it was known as 希特拉的最後12夜 (Hitler's Final 12 Nights).
Dr. Strangelove became 密碼114 (Code 114) in Hong Kong.
Dracula (1931) simply became 吸血鬼 (Vampire) in Taiwan.
Dragonheart became 魔龍傳奇 (The Legend of the Dragon) in Taiwan and 魔幻屠龍 (Magical Dragon Slayer) in Hong Kong.
Drive (2011) was titled 亡命驾驶 (Deadly Drive) in Mainland, 極速罪駕 (Speedy Crime-Drive) in Hong Kong with "罪駕" being a pun on "醉駕" ("drunk driving"), and 落日車神 (Sunset Car God) in Taiwan.
Dumb and Dumber was titled 絕世孖寶 (Exceptional Twins) in Hong Kong. In Mainland and Taiwan, it was known as 阿呆与阿瓜/阿呆與阿瓜, which was made by separating the Chinese word for "idiot" ("呆瓜") and creating a name out of each individual characters.
End of Days became 魔鬼末日 (The End of the Devil) in Taiwan.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind became known as 無痛失戀 (Painless Breakup) in Hong Kong, 王牌冤家 (Ace Love-Haters) in Taiwan and 暧暧内含光 (Warm Inner Light) in Mainland.
The Evil Dead (1981) became 鬼玩人 (Ghost Play) in Taiwan and 屍變 (Cadaverization) in Hong Kong.
Although Everything Everywhere All at Once has a Chinese title on the poster (天馬行空, Unleashed), it was only used by Singapore as an official title (in simplified form, 天马行空). It was titled 瞬息全宇宙 (The Whole Universe in the Blink of an Eye) in mainland China, 奇異女俠玩救宇宙 (Amazing Heroine Saves the Universe, with "玩救" being a Cantonese pun on "玩夠" ("enough playing")), and, humorously, 媽的多重宇宙 in Taiwan, which translates to Mom's Multiverse literally and The Motherfucking Multiverse figuritively.
The Exorcist was titled 大法師 (The Great Priests) in Taiwan.
The Expendables became 浴血任務 (Bloodbath Mission) in Taiwan and 轟天猛將 (Sky-Shocking Valiants) in Hong Kong.

The Fall of the Roman Empire was known as 龍虎群英 (Band of Dragons and Tigers) in Hong Kong. The same Chinese title was applied to an entirely different film in mainland China (see below).
The Farewell was titled 别告诉她/別告訴她 (Don't Tell Her) in all markets.
Fargo was translated to 冰血暴 (Blood Blizzard) in Taiwan and Mainland, and 雪花高離奇命案 (The Mysterious Murder in High Snows) in Hong Kong, which not only conveyed the setting, but also transcribed the place name Fargo with "雪花高" (syut3 faa1 gou1).
Ferris Bueller's Day Off was known as 春天不是读书天 (Springtime Is Not Classtime) in Mainland, 咪走堂 (Don't Skip My Class) in Hong Kong, and 蹺課天才 (Class-Skipping Genius) in Taiwan.
The Final Destination franchise became known as 死神來了/死神来了 (Here Comes the Grim Reaper) in Hong Kong and Mainland.
The film adaptation of Flipped was titled 怦然心动/怦然心動 (Heart-Throbbing) in all three regions.
The Fly (1986) became known as 变蝇人/變蠅人 (Become the Fly) in Mainland and Taiwan, as well as 變形人魔 (Transforming Monster-Man) in Hong Kong.
Forrest Gump became 阿甘正傳/阿甘正传 (The True History of Ah Gump), a fairly clever Shout-Out to a classic work of modern Chinese literature, The True History of Ah Q by Lu Xun.
Four Weddings and a Funeral was titled 妳是我今生的新娘 (You Are the Bride of My Life) in Taiwan.
Freaky Friday (2003) became 辣妈辣妹/辣媽辣妹 (Hot Mom, Hot Daughter) in Mainland and Taiwan, as well as 衰鬼媽咪 (Scumbag Mommy).
Free Guy received the title 脫稿玩家 (Off-Script Player) in Taiwan, 失控玩家 (Out-of-Control Player) in Mainland and 爆機自由仁 (Game-Breaking Free Guy) in Hong Kong; the "仁" is a pun, using a homophone of "人" ("person, guy") that instead means "kind", as in, the kindness the protagonist shows in an otherwise violent video game who "breaks" the game.
From Dusk Till Dawn had the title 杀出个黎明/殺出個黎明 (Kill Into Dawn) in both Mainland and Hong Kong, and 惡夜追殺令 (Evil Night's Kill Bounty) in Taiwan.
Full Metal Jacket became 金甲部隊 (Army in Golden Armor) in Taiwan and 烈血焚城 (Burning the City with Hot Blood) in Hong Kong.
Get Out (2017) became 訪·嚇 (Scary Visit) in Hong Kong, which is a play on the Cantonese pronounciation of "訪客" ("visitor"). It's known as 逃出絕命鎮 (Escape from Killer Town) in Taiwan.
Ghost (1990) was titled 人鬼情未了 (Unending Love Between Human and Ghost) in Hong Kong and 第六感生死戀 (Sixth-Sense Life-and-Death Love) in Taiwan.

The Shawshank Redemption became 刺激1995 (The Thrill 1995) in Taiwan. The Thrill is the Taiwanese title for The Sting; the distributor thought the brilliance of the former's schemes is similar to the latter's. It has since become one of the most hated title translations in Taiwan. The film is known as 月黑高飛 (Fly High in a Moonless Night) in Hong Kong.
- In the same vein, Mr. Holland's Opus became 春風化雨1996 (Spring Breeze and Timely Rain 1996); "Spring breeze and timely rain" is a well-known Chinese idiom on teachers that was applied on the Taiwanese release of Dead Poets Society. Obviously, Hong Kong use different titles for both movies, i.e. 生命因你動聽 (Because of You, Life Becomes Listenable) and 暴雨驕陽 (Sun After a Storm), respectively.
SHAZAM! (2019) was released as 沙贊！神力集結 (Shazam! Superpowers Assemble) in Hong Kong, and 雷霆沙赞！ (Thunder Shazam!) in mainland China.
She's All That became 她是我的全部 (She's My Everything) in Mainland, and 窈窕美眉 (Flitatious Beauty) in Taiwan.
The Shining was aptly titled 鬼店 (Haunted Hotel) in Taiwan. In Hong Kong and mainland China, it was translated/transcribed into 閃靈/闪灵 (Flickering Spirits), pronounced "sim2 ling4" in Cantonese and "Shǎn Líng" in Mandarin.
Silenced became 無聲吶喊 (Silent Shout, not to be confused with The Knife's album of the same name) in Hong Kong.
Sing Street was known as 初恋这首情歌 (This Song Named First Love) in Mainland, 初戀無限JAM (First Love's Endless Jam) in Hong Kong and 搖滾青春戀習曲 (Love's Etude for a Rocking Youth) in Taiwan, "戀習曲" being a Mandarin pun on "練習曲" ("etude").

Smile (2022) was released as 危笑 (Dangerous Smile) in the mainland and 魅笑 (Ghostly Smile) in Hong Kong, both being puns on "smile" (微笑) in their respective languages.
The Sons of Katie Elder became 一門四虎 (Four Tigers from One Door) in Taiwan and 孝義雙全 (Filial and Righteous) in Hong Kong.
Spotlight became 驚爆焦點 (Shocking Focus) in Taiwan and 焦點追擊 (Focused Pursuit) in Hong Kong.
SS Doomtrooper became 終極毀滅戰士 (Ultimate Doomtrooper) in Taiwan.
Different iterations of A Star Is Born has different titles depending on the region.
- The 1954 version was known as 星海浮沉錄 (Rise and Fall in the Sea of Stars) in Taiwan.
- The 1976 version was known as 星夢淚痕 (Star Dreams and Tear Traces) in Taiwan, which was later borrowed as the Chinese title of Glitter.
- The 2018 version was known as 星夢情深 (Star Dreams and Tender Love) in Hong Kong.
Star Wars is 星球大戰/星球大战 (Battle of the Planets) in both Mainland and Hong Kong. The Taiwanese know it as 星際大戰 (Interstellar Wars).

- The sequel The Strangers: Prey at Night became 只殺陌生人 (Only Killing Strangers) in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Streets of Fire became 狠將奇兵 (Ruthless Assassin) in Taiwan.
Stuart Little was named 精灵鼠小弟 (Smart Little Mouse Bro) in Mainland, 一家之鼠超力仔 (The Super-Strong Mouse of the Family) in Hong Kong, and simply 一家之鼠 (Mouse of the Family) in Taiwan. Both of the latter were puns on "一家之主" which means "master of the family".
Both the 1977 and the 2018 version of Suspiria were titled 陰風陣陣 (Gusts of Sinister Wind) in Hong Kong. In Taiwan, the former was known as 坐立不安 (Fidgety) and the latter, 窒息 (Asphyxiation).
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street was known as 瘋狂理髮師：倫敦首席惡魔剃刀手 (Crazy Barber: London's Chief Demon Razor Operator) in Taiwan.
Swiss Army Man became 救你命3000 (Lifesaver 3000) in Hong Kong, a Shout-Out to "要你命3000" ("lifetaker 3000"), a Swiss-Army Weapon that appeared on the Stephen Chow comedy From Beijing With Love. In Taiwan, it was titled 屍控奇幻旅程 (Necrophile's Amazing Journey), "屍控" being a pun on "失控" ("to lose control").
A Tale of Two Sisters was known as 姊魅情深 (Sister-Ghost Bond) in Hong Kong and 鬼魅 (Ghost) in Taiwan, both of which playing on homophones "魅" ("ghost, spirit") and "妹" ("younger sister").
Tammy became 塔米的旅行 (Tammy's Travels) in Mainland.
Taken was named 飓风营救 (Hurricane Rescue) in Mainland, 救參96小時 (96-Hour Rescue) in Hong Kong, while the Taiwanese titled it 即刻救援 (Immediate Rescue).
Ted was known as 熊麻吉 (Bear-FF) in Taiwan and Singapore, as well as 賤熊30 (Mean Bear 30) in Hong Kong.
Speaking of Terminator...
- The series and the aforementioned first installment is titled 未來戰士 (Future Warrior) in Hong Kong and the literal 终结者 in Mainland.
- Terminator 2: Judgment Day was simply known as 未來戰士續集 (The Future Warrior Sequel) in Hong Kong.

- TRON: Legacy became 创：战纪/創戰紀 (Creation: War History/Creation War History) in Mainland and Hong Kong (a pun on 创世纪/創世紀, meaning "Genesis") and 創：光速戰記 (Creation: The Speed of Light) in Taiwan. All of them transcribe "TRON" to "创/創" (pronounced "chuàng" in Mandarin and "cong3" in Cantonese).
The 1969 version of True Grit was known as 獨眼龍雙槍殲四虎 (One-Eyed Dragon Annihilates Four Tigers with Two Guns) in Hong Kong and 大地驚雷 (Earth-Shocking Thunder) in Taiwan. Strangely, neither regions reused the same translations for the 2010 version, instead translating it to 離奇復仇事件 (Bizarre Revenge) and the literal 真實的勇氣 respectively, while the mainland borrowed the original Taiwanese title, albeit in simplified form (大地惊雷).
The Truman Show was translated to 真人Show (Reality Show) in Hong Kong, the two Chinese characters of which literally mean "true" and "man" by themselves.
Uncut Gems was known as 未成大器 (Not Yet a Treasure) in Hong Kong.
Under Siege was titled 魔鬼戰將 (Monster General) in Taiwan and 潜龙轰天 (Sky-Busting Dragon) in Mainland.
Underworld (2003) became 決戰異世界 (Decisive Battle in Another World) in Taiwan, 妖夜尋狼 (Searching for Wolves in the Mesmerizing Night) in Hong Kong and 黑夜传说 (Legend of the Night) in Mainland.
A United Kingdom became 愛無懼色 (Love has No Color of Fear) in Hong Kong, where 懼色, usually meaning "color of fear," is alternately understood as "fear of color" in context. In the Mainland and Taiwan, the title is the more literal 联合王国/聯合王國.
V for Vendetta became V怪客 (Mysterious V) in Taiwan, V煞 (V Carnage) in Hong Kong and V字仇杀队 (Vengence Squad V) in Mainland.
Walk the Line was titled 与歌同行 (Walk Alongside Music) in Mainland, 為你鍾情 (Falling For You) in Taiwan and 弦途有你 (With You By My Strings) in Hong Kong.
War Witch became 愛在戰火迷亂時 (Love in the Rampage of War) in Taiwan, and 戰巫不勝 (Undefeatable Witch, a pun on "戰無不勝" ("undefeatable)) in Hong Kong.

What We Do in the Shadows became 吸血鬼家庭屍篇 (The Corpse Saga of the Vampire Family) in Taiwan, the last two characters being a Mandarin pun on "詩篇" ("poetry"). It's known as 低俗殭屍玩出征 (Lowbrow Zombies' Expedition) in Hong Kong, and 吸血鬼生活 (Life of Vampires) in Mainland.
When Harry Met Sally... became known as the straightforward 90男歡女愛 (Man-Woman Romance '90) in Hong Kong.
Whiplash was released as 爆裂鼓手 (Explosive Drummer) in Mainland, 鼓動真我 (Drum Out the Real Me) in Hong Kong, which is a play on the Chinese word-phrase "鼓動" ("to inspire; to incite"), and 進擊的鼓手 (Advancing Drummer) in Taiwan, which is a Market-Based Title cashing in on the popularity of Attack on Titan (titled 進擊的巨人 in Chinese).
Who Framed Roger Rabbit was known as 夢城兔福星 (Lucky Rabbit Star in the Dream City) in Hong Kong and 威探闖通關 (Powerful Detective Breaks Through Borders) in Taiwan.
The Wicker Man became 異教徒 (Pagan) in Taiwan.
Wild Things became 玩盡殺絕 (Play Hard, Kill 'Em All) in Hong Kong.
Witness for the Prosecution was titled 雄才偉略 (Eloquence and Strategies) in Hong Kong and 情婦 (The Mistress) in Taiwan.
Wolfen became 狼人就在你身邊 (Werewolves Are By Your Side) in Taiwan.

Zoolander was known as 超级名模 (Supermodel) in Mainland and 名模大間諜 (Supermodel Spy) in Taiwan.
