    Damon Maitsu

Damon Maitsu

Ultimate Debater

Voiced by: CarlitoLopezVO

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/damonsplashart.png

There was never a doubt in Damon's mind that he was destined to be the Ultimate Debater. From an early age, Damon would argue with anyone who tried to confront him. This led him to learn how to argue from any position on any topic. Such frequent confrontations left Damon isolated from his peers, further leading him down the path of ignoring others solely to train his talent, with the hopes that one day, he would be admired by everyone for his skill.

  • All of the Other Reindeer: In his backstory, it's mentioned that his constant arguing led to his peers finding him to difficult to befriend.
  • The Aloner: Damon decided to stay alone so he could focus on his own talents.
  • Animal Motif: Snakes, as shown on his necktie.
  • Anti-Hero: In keeping with Eden's Garden's Darker and Edgier story, he's this due to his rude and anti-social personality. What really solidifies this is how different he is from the canon Danganronpa and more heroic protagonists. On top of his personality being far more unpleasant, he’s extremely arrogant compared to them, as characters such as Makoto and Shuichi are known for their lack of confidence. Shuichi in particular lacks confidence in his talent, while Damon holds his Ultimate title dearly. Damon is also much more cynical, as shown by his speech at the end of how blindly trusting Ultimates not to murder is unrealistic, unlike the natural optimism of Makoto.
  • The Cynic: When Tozu shows himself and kicks off the Killing Game, Damon openly admits it won't be long before someone among the cast considers murder. His cynicism gets him alienated from the others pretty quickly.
  • Deadpan Snarker: To the point of being an outright asshole.
  • A Degree in Useless: Not him, but he thinks most "Ultimates" have useless talents that can't benefit the world in any meaningful way, despite being scouted by Eden's Garden.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite it being a dummy, he’s disgusted by Cara’s body and is hesitant to examine it during the Chapter 0 investigation.
  • Expressive Hair: When he gets upset, his ahoge scrunches up a lot.
  • Foil: His biggest foil so far is Wolfgang Akire. Both are privileged, professionally dressed, and presumably wealthy students whose talents revolve around debating and arguing. However, their personalities are where the differences are blatant. Damon is an arrogant jerk with No Social Skills, while Wolfgang is a Nice Guy who is considerably more humble and very good at socializing with others. The main difference, however, is their ideologies. Damon is The Cynic, who dismisses most of the Ultimate talents of the other students as worthless and immediately distrusts them as soon as the killing game starts, unwilling to work with others. Meanwhile, Wolfgang is an All-Loving Hero who has faith in the abilities of the other Ultimate students and emphasizes cooperation over isolation. Considering Damon monologued about how their Ultimate talents don't contribute to society specifically as a response to Wolfgang's viewpoint that all Ultimates have the goal of improving society, it's clear they're set up to be rivals.
    • A smaller example is Kai Monteago. Both are egotistical Ultimates who have a strong desire to be recognized for their talents. However, while they are both Narcissists, they act self-absorbed in different ways. While Kai is more openly selfish and is willing to cry about the lack of recognition and respect he receives, Damon keeps it mostly in his head, only blowing up at the end. Kai is also more openly friendly and social, strongly desiring attention and love. Meanwhile, Damon is incredibly anti-social and sucks at talking to people, preferring to be alone at the end of the day, as he desires respect and recognition over love and friendship.
  • Hated by All: After the prologue's Class Trial, he gains a negative reception from his Ultimates after he vouches for the idea that most of their classmates don't have valuable talents (like him) and that it's only a matter of time before one of them resorts to murder.
  • Hypocrite:
    • He believes the title of "Ultimate" has become watered down to the point of meaningless since it's now handed out to people who only care about using it to get famous. Yet Damon's biggest aspiration is also to be admired by others for his talent.
    • He is also taken aback when Wenona criticizes Eden's Garden Academy for admitting Ultimates with frivolous talents, despite him thinking the very same thing several times throughout the prologue.
    • Despite being disturbed by Cara’s fake body to the point he has to get himself together before examining it, he belittles a lot of the other students for being scared of a dummy should he choose to talk to them.
  • Idiot Hair: He has a smooth ahoge which solidifies his protagonist role.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: He's quite prideful and abrasive compared to Danganronpa's protagonists, but it's implied that his ego stems from a need to prove himself to the world in a way that he believes most other Ultimates simply cannot do.
  • Informed Ability: For someone with the talent of "Ultimate Debater," Damon is actually pretty bad at articulating his points, especially when he loses his cool at the end of the prologue. If you use the "Pathos" truth bullets during a Nonstop Debate, you can make him resort to outright fallacious arguments to sway the others.
  • Innocently Insensitive: While his dismissal of the students' talents and their ability to trust in each other near the end of the Prologue is easily his biggest Jerkass moment, Damon actually doesn't seem to have malicious intentions. He even admits he was just trying to make sure the Ultimates weren't so willing to have faith in each other during such a dangerous situation.
  • In-Series Nickname: Referred to as "bargain-bin lawyer" by Cassidy.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: He hopes to be recognized and admired for his debating talent. An odd case, as he's very convinced that he already is "special".
  • I Work Alone: Claims to work better alone.
  • Jerkass: Tends to be rude and condescending towards others, especially regarding their Ultimate talents. While mostly keeping his more insulting comments in his head, he does let his true beliefs slip out every now and then, most famously near the end of the Prologue.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • Rather than blindly trust his classmates will all work together and nobody will commit murder, Damon points out that, realistically, it's only a matter of time before they start turning on one another. Given the nature of the game he's playing, it's obvious he's right to the player, but in-universe, it doesn't win him any friends.
    • While still very condescending about it, his attitude regarding the Ultimate talents of the other students makes a lot more sense when you realize that the opening letter inviting Damon to Eden’s Garden Academy stated it was a college specifically for academic-based talents. Considering most of the Ultimates have talents completely unrelated to academia in the traditional sense, the letter was all but lying to him, which explains why he’s so baffled when the other Ultimates have such “niche” talents. However, it’s downplayed when it comes to his speech at the end of Chapter 0. While it’s true that most of the cast don’t impact society on a systemic level compared to an Ultimate Lawyer or Entrepreneur, his elitist mindset causes Damon to ignore the smaller ways they help people, as people like Cassidy Amber still serve as role models and entertainers to millions who are otherwise unhappy and unmotivated with their lives.
  • Narcissist: Is incredibly arrogant about his talent and looks down on the other Ultimates for not being on his level.
  • Nerds Love Tough Schoolwork: His profile lists "studying" as one of his likes.
  • No Social Skills: Despite being the Ultimate Debater, Damon's lack of proper social interaction growing up has clearly affected his behavior, as not only is he anti-social, he's prone to insensitive and rude remarks, even if he has good intentions behind them. The best example of this is when he gives a speech at the end of the Prologue about how it's unrealistic to trust each other and that most Ultimate talents are worthless to society. Despite coming across as a clear Jerkass, he's shocked when they start hating him for it, as he only wanted to prevent them from trusting each other so easily.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • His name is an almost-perfect anagram for "Adam", the original man created in the Garden of Eden.
    • Alternatively, his name could likely be a spin on the word 'demon', given his representation of the snake in Adam and Eve.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: Possibly unintentional on his part due to his sheltered upbringing and occasionally InnocentlyInsensitive nature, but his immediate dismissal of the other Ultimate students, since they don't have talents that are worthy in his eyes and have very eccentric, unprofessional personalities and attire, gives off very elitist vibes. The only students he seems willing to admire are the very clearly wealthy and privileged Wolfgang and Wenona, at least for their talents.
  • Poor Communication Kills: While the Jerkass Has a Point, he also presents it in the most condescending, dismissive way possible. Rather than emphasize how dangerous the situation is or offer some alternative solutions, he instead goes on a tirade against the others, insulting them and their talents, and claiming he saved everyone in the trial. This, of course, gives everyone the impression he thinks he's better than them, which he does nothing to dissuade. His internal monologue makes it clear he doesn't really feel that way, but he doesn't say anything afterward and simply decides it's him against everyone else now. Which likely wouldn't have happened if he didn't open his mouth.
  • The Protagonist: The main player character of the game.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Played with. On one hand, Damon is an Ultimate, meaning he has made a name for himself in his profession and holds the skill for it. However, throughout the prologue, it becomes clear that, in spite of his pride and believing himself to be superior to other Ultimates, his peers pretty much treat him like an average guy (likely since all of them are Ultimates as well). While they don't initially hate him (since the 'ego' aspect was internal up until the class trial), they weren't above teasing him, being dismissive of him (i.e. Eva refusing to let him lift her to scope out another room), and occasionally forgetting his presence (i.e., Cassidy forgetting he was apart of the dining hall cast). Plus, unlike students who were recognized before introductions (like Kai or Wenona), or at least had skills for others to talk about in interest for a bit, it's contrasted with nobody recognizing Damon or caring much about his talent (outside of Cassidy calling him a 'bargain bin lawyer').

    Desmond Hall

Desmond Hall

Ultimate Marksman

Voiced by: Rynako

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/desmondsplashart.png

If there's a target, then Desmond can hit it. Doesn't matter how fast or how far, as the Ultimate Marksman, Desmond can land his shots with whatever ranged weapon of his choice. Favoring the bow, his precision is feared in competition and is only contrasted by his upbeat demeanor towards helping his friends accomplish their goals as well.

  • Ambiguously Brown: He has an amber-brown skin color and a dreadlock hairstyle.
  • Animal Motif: Shark, as shown by his shark tooth earring.
  • Dreadlock Warrior: Zigzagged. He has brown dreadlocks, and his skills are based on his stellar marksmanship. Although he doesn't like violence and manly uses his talents for non-combative purposes.
  • Nice Guy: A golden-hearted lad who looks out for his friends.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Openly professes that he's never killed anyone with his talent and genuinely hopes never to sully his hands with blood.
  • Violence Is Not an Option: Despite his profession, Desmond dislikes violence and is strongly opposed to any violent acts.

    Ulysses Wilhelm

Ulysses Wilhelm

Ultimate Historian

Voiced by: Doctor Pap

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ulyssessplashart.png

If we do not learn from our history, we are doomed to repeat it; Ulysses knows this lesson well, as the Ultimate Historian. Spending every waking moment reading and researching the histories of human civilizations, to the point of exhaustion, Ulysses is determined to memorize as much as he can, even at the cost of his own health and sanity. Known for carrying around a notebook, he makes sure that every interaction he has is always recorded for future review.

  • Animal Motif: Owl, as shown by his overall outfit and the owl feather quill he wears as a pendant.
  • Books vs. Screens: He dislikes computers and prefers to spend his time reading books.
  • Iconic Item: Is always shown carrying a notebook for recording every waking moment.
  • The Insomniac: Sleep is listed as one of his dislikes. It's implied his staying up so late is one reason he's a sleepyhead during waking hours.
  • The Needs of the Many: Ulysses is motivated to learn as much as he can about history so his findings can help society understand and prevent the mistakes of the past from repeating.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: He has round-shaded glasses and is well-versed in historical research.
  • Sleepyhead: Workaholics are still human, so Ulysses may turn out tired or even fall asleep on the spot. When introducing himself to Damon, he even falls asleep standing up.
  • Workaholic: He is so dedicated to learning everything historical that he's willing to neglect his health if necessary.

    Mark "Mayhem" Berskii

Mark "Mayhem" Berskii

Ultimate Music Producer

Voiced by: Faza

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marksplashart.png

He may be the quietest person in the room, but Mark lets his music speak for itself. As the Ultimate Music Producer, Mark takes the best sounds of the musicians he works with, mixes them together, and ends up with a derivative piece of art that perfectly encapsulates the emotions he wants the listener to feel. He often uses his musical talent to substitute for his lack of social interaction, always preferring to stay out of the spotlight.

    Wolfgang Akire

Wolfgang Akire

Ultimate Lawyer

Voiced by: Dazon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wolfgangsplashart.png

Finding such a successful lawyer at an age as young as Wolfgang's is an accomplishment in its own right. Successfully defending over 200 of his clients without dropping a single case, this Ultimate Lawyer promises that only the truth and evidence will lead to a conclusion. An earnest and soft-spoken gentleman, he makes sure that everyone is fairly represented and that only facts and logic drive the discussion, even if at times it becomes counterproductive in the trials he participates in.

  • All-Loving Hero: Unlike Damon, Wolfgang has an optimistic view of the other Ultimates, wholeheartedly believing they won’t kill each other.
  • Animal Motif: Sheep, as shown by his lapel pin.
  • Berserk Button:
    • His official profile notes that he dislikes lies.
    • More specifically, he gets absolutely furious over the murder of Cara, considering it an unjustified act of sadism, considering the victim was a young Ultimate. Unjustified crimes and harm against Ultimates seem to get under his skin.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While normally a polite and caring gentleman, during the first trial, the murder of Cara makes him furious to the point of yelling, with not even Grace being shown that angry before.
  • Crusading Lawyer: Wolfgang is an accredited lawyer who fights fairly using truth and facts. He shows a more passionate side in the Class Trial, insisting that the others pursue every last detail of Cara's murder for the sake of justice.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He doesn't enjoy alcohol in the slightest.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: When he gets fired up in the prologue's trial, he starts pointing just like Phoenix Wright himself.
  • Irony: *Wolf*gang's motif is a sheep.
  • Large Ham: He gets emotionally invested in the prologue's murder case, and as the Class Trial goes on, he becomes extremely loud, animated, and prone to pointing.
  • The Leader: Is setting up to be this as he rallies the rest of his Ultimates into agreeing that they won't kill each other.
  • Nice Guy: Is very kind-hearted and supportive of the fellow Ultimates, calling out Grace for yelling at Toshiko, and encouraging Eloise to come out, despite her being scared.
  • Not So Stoic: He seems like one of the calmest members of the cast right up until the prologue's Class Trial, when he becomes emotionally invested in the case and very vocally passionate to match.
  • The Rival: Is setting up to be one for Damon, as their contrast in beliefs and Damon's direct refutation of his claim that every Ultimate has a strong desire to improve mankind as a whole makes it clear that they're unlikely to get along in the future. Although, it's inverted compared to most canon Danganronpa examples, as Damon is the confrontational Jerkass despite being the protagonist, while Wolfgang is an optimistic Nice Guy who tries to resolve conflict, in comparison to the dynamic of characters like Makoto and Byakuya.
  • The Spock: He values logic and evidence when completing court cases.
  • Stealth Pun: His Animal Motif is the sheep, but his name is Wolfgang. Accordingly, he hides a much louder and more animated side — he's A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing.
  • Third-Party Peacekeeper: Throughout the prologue, he serves as the group's peacekeeper by watching over everyone and ensuring they don't get into needless squabbles.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: And possesses incredible hatred for those that would. In his own words, "killing a woman is the worst thing a man could do".

    Kai Monteago

Kai Monteago

Ultimate Influencer

Voiced by: Dakota Farnsworth

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kaisplashart.png

Being the center of attention has always been natural for Kai. As the Ultimate Influencer, most of the day is spent posing on social media and talking to followers. But Kai doesn't just love the spotlight; he also loves creating drama and conflict. Knowing that his army of fans will follow him to the end of time and that he is not afraid to utilize them, Kai might be the most charismatic yet terrifying person you'll ever cross paths with.

  • Animal Motif: Butterfly, shown as the design on his polo shirt. Likely a reference to him being an outgoing influencer.
  • Attention Whore: He craves attention and can obtain it quite easily.
  • Bad Influencer: He's the Ultimate Influencer, and a manipulative jerkass who won't hesitate to sic his "army of underage followers" on people he dislikes. Such a factor contributes to why the others don't really like him.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He's quite attractive by Danganronpa standards, but he holds a sadistic nature as he enjoys manipulating others for funsies.
  • Butt-Monkey: Spends the entire prologue being dismissed, ignored, or mocked by his peers, with his scaredy-cat nature being used for comic relief during the trial phase.
  • Dirty Coward: When he sees Cara's body, he immediately decides to run away instead of helping like the rest despite it being a dummy, furthermore he suggests that he should be a spectator instead of helping. This all shows that he's only looking out for himself.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Given his infamous reputation, alongside his whiny and spoiled attitude, Kai isn't really liked by the other students (something Kai himself is painfully aware of, noting such a fact when he was sent outside in the prologue to talk with the others). Hell, he was disliked by Damon before the guy even knew who he was! The only student who seems to genuinely like/care for him is Diana, but even she notes he isn't the nicest person around when she defends him from being picked on.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He has a charismatic personality and can manipulate others into doing his bidding.
  • Must Have Caffeine: He loves coffee.
  • Narcissist: Immediately cries when he finds out Damon doesn't know him and says how Damon's lack of recognizability made him lose faith in humanity.
  • Never My Fault: Hates apologizing.
  • Pretty Boy: A handsome young man who found fame as a professional influencer.
  • Psycho Pink: He has bright pink hair, and he loves stirring up trouble.
  • The Unapologetic: He cites apologizing as one of his main dislikes. Given his talent, he probably thinks giving them publicly isn't worth the trouble.

    Jett Dawson

Jett Dawson

Ultimate Drag Racer

Voiced by: Stanpai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jettsplashart.png

Being both the hottest and fastest Drag Racer in the country has made Jett an icon in competitive racing. But after an accident just over a year ago left him burned and scarred, he decided to take a break from competing while he healed. The public has not seen his face since then, and mystery surrounds him wherever he goes. But he promises, once his body fully heals, that he'll get right back into action with all the same fiery passion and enthusiasm that he has today.

  • Animal Motif: Coyote. In addition to the coyote logo on his drag suit, his helmet resembles a coyote's head, his gloves look like a coyote's paws, and the seatbelt attached to the suit looks like a tail. Additionally, his laugh resembles that of a coyote.
  • Big Fun: Has a visible belly, "Parties" listed as one of his likes on his promotional card, and an excitable personality.
  • Career-Ending Injury: He ended up in a racing accident that left him burned and scarred. As of this day, he's still recuperating but vows to return when he's fully healed.
  • Cool Helmet: He always wears his black, coyote-themed helmet.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: His uniform consists of black colors but he's an overall good guy.
  • The Faceless: No doubt because of his injuries, he has yet to take his helmet off, and according to his character bio nobody has seen his face in public in over a year. The only thing visible underneath the helmet is his eyes, and even then, only in certain CGs where they're barely visible.
  • Fun Personified: He's always in a jolly mood and often has something silly to say that lightens the mood.
  • Informed Attribute: According to the creators on Twitter, Jett has a heavyset figure, which is hard to see in his sprites and early promotional art due to his tracksuit, but is much easier to recognize in the in-game CGs and later promotional art where his gut is much more noticeable.
  • Life of the Party: He cites parties as one of his favorite interests.
  • Odd Friendship: Seems keen on forming one with Mark.
  • The Pig-Pen: He dislikes showers, according to his profile.

    Jean DeLamer

Jean DeLamer

Ultimate Ship Captain

Voiced by: D. Hernandez

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jeansplashart.png

Nothing but the open sea and his crew, Jean loves traveling all around the world on his cargo ship, delivering goods to some of the largest ports in the world. The energetic and sometimes hard-to-control Ultimate Ship Captain wants the world to know about all his triumphs and stories he's collected over years of being at sea. Protective of his crew, he wants to make sure that everyone under his guidance and direction is doing their best work to make his ship run smoothly.

  • Animal Motif: A dragon, from the tattoo on his chest.
  • Baritone of Strength: Has one of the deepest voices of the entire cast, and is a suitably large and muscular man.
  • The Big Guy: The largest guy in the group. Though he shares this role with Ingrid.
  • Book Dumb: His bio card states that he doesn't enjoy reading.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He doesn't enjoy shellfish.
  • Friendly Pirate: His ensemble brings to mind the pirates you'd see in fairy tales, but he's a good-natured young man who sails the seven seas with splendor. Surprisingly, he detests pirates and isn't fond of being compared to one.
  • Gentle Giant: While very boisterous, Jean uses his build to protect others rather than harm them.
  • The Good Captain: In addition to being a professional sea captain, he's regarded as a good leader who looks out for his crewmates.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has two scars on the right side of his face and right arm.
  • Insistent Terminology: He's a ship captain, NOT a pirate.
  • Meaningful Name: His last name sounds like "de la mer", which is French for "of the sea," fitting for a captain.
  • Mr. Fanservice: He's quite easy on the eyes, helped by an outfit that shows off his large, impressive pecs and his abs.
  • Nice Guy: While Jean seems a bit intimidating at first, he’s nothing but a teddy bear who wishes to protect his fellow Ultimates from harm despite barely knowing them.
  • Talk Like a Pirate: Downplayed, but he sometimes says pirate-ish words like "Aye".

Female Participants

    Eva Tsunaka

Eva Tsunaka

Ultimate Liar

Voiced by: TheLuzical

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/evasplashart.png

In a killing game, you need to be able to trust those around you. But with the Ultimate Liar, is trust even possible? Eva has made it clear that she doesn't intend to lie to anyone, but how can we believe any promise she makes? Truly a quiet and mysterious figure, she often stares into the distance and makes you feel like anything you say to her is being completely ignored, as if she's lost in her own little world of thought.

  • Animal Motif: Crow, shown through the feather in her hair and a badge on her lapel.
  • Consummate Liar: She's regarded as a professional liar.
  • The Cynic: She's the first to tell the others point-blank that she fully expects the other Ultimates to participate in the Killing Game and commit murder, and dismisses Wolfgang as naive for blindly trusting in his classmates.
  • Ice Queen: While not as blatantly anti-social and rude as Damon is, Eva is stoic by default, mostly apathetic to the others, and is the first to point out that trusting each other in a killing game is going to backfire.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Near the prologue's end, when Wolfgang assures Tozu that no one will kill, Eva argues against him, stating that they're all Ultimates who've worked hard to achieve their achievements and have families and loved ones waiting for them. She claims the belief of how no one resorts to murder when all of that is on the other side of the dome is founded on pure ignorance.
  • Meaningful Name: Her first name is the Latin version of "Eve" which is the name of the first woman to exist and live in the Garden of Eden. Eva is the main female lead and is set up to be the deuteragonist of the fangame.
  • The Runt at the End: Compared to the other talents and titles, being an Ultimate Liar stands out as being something of an oddity.
  • The Spook: Her bio card describes her as a girl of mystery. There isn't even any solid information regarding her likes, dislikes etc.
  • The Stoic: Eva is often presented as serious and difficult to read. When Cara's "body" is discovered in the prologue, not only does she barely even flinch while everyone else reacts with horror, but she pokes the corpse's cheek, correctly realizing it was only a dummy.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: In the prologue, if Damon visits the storage rooms that she'd already examined before he woke up, Eva closes her eyes in visible annoyance.

    Eloise Taulner

Eloise Taulner

Ultimate Fencer

Voiced by: Hannah Magers

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eloisesplashart.png

Greeting everyone with a warm smile, Eloise makes sure to show up for her practice on time every day with the goal of improving. But don't be deceived by the Ultimate Fencer's size, as she is incredibly agile with a sabre. While advancing toward her opponents is common practice in fencing, she prefers to lay low and blend in with the crowd during social encounters and is always ready to make her escape if anyone gets too close to her.

  • Acrofatic: She's described as being quite agile and flexible regardless of her size.
  • Animal Motif: Swan, seen as a pin in her hair.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: She has a chubby body figure, which adds to her beauty.
  • Big Eater: Implied. Her bio card states that she enjoys buffets.
  • Hidden Buxom: It's hard to tell from her usual outfit, but Eloise's swimsuit art reveals she has the largest bust of everyone in the cast.
  • Lovable Coward: Eloise scares easily when it comes to meeting new people; she also dislikes horror movies, but she's an honorable girl dedicated to her talent.
  • Master Swordswoman: She is exceptionally skilled at using the sabre.
  • Shrinking Violet: She isn't a social butterfly and will chicken out of social interactions if needed.
  • Weak, but Skilled: She explains that fencing doesn't rely on just landing the first blow but rather on analyzing their opponent's moves to determine the best strategy to win. This is how she's become a champion despite her timid nature.

    Toshiko Kayura

Toshiko Kayura

Ultimate Matchmaker

Voiced by: Aji

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toshikosplashart.png

She may be shy, but ask Toshiko about her talent, and her eyes will light up brighter than the sun. As the Ultimate Matchmaker, it's her job and responsibility to help everyone find their true love. Her caring and confident demeanor makes you believe that your perfect match is waiting for you somewhere in the world. But don't be taken off guard when she throws occasional shade in your direction.

  • Adorably Precocious Child: Subverted. She's a teenager, but she acts quite sophisticated for her age.
  • Animal Motif: Flamingos, shown through the design on her skirt.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: The youngest member of the Eden's Garden cast at 14 years.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Because of her age and size, her fellow Ultimates dismiss her as a random little kid.
  • The Faceless: Downplayed. She always has her fans covering her face, thus we never see what her whole face looks like.
  • Iconic Item: Is always shown carrying two fans.
  • Kids Hate Vegetables: Toshiko's profile lists vegetables as one of her dislikes, and she's the youngest member of the cast.
  • Kimono Is Traditional: She wears an elaborate kimono, but it's unknown if she follows a traditional lifestyle.
  • The Matchmaker: She's made a name for herself as a professional matchmaker.
  • Mouthy Kid: Well, mouthy teenager, but she isn't afraid to mouth off to disrespectful people like Grace.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: One of her poses, which is naturally the one where she laughs.
  • Shrinking Violet: She shows shades of this as she tends to be shy when not talking about her talent.

    Wenona

Wenona

Ultimate Entrepreneur

Voiced by: BrookUayy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wenonasplashart.png

As one of the youngest billionaires in the country, Wenona redefines what it means to be a ruthless businesswoman. The Ultimate Entrepreneur rules over the agriculture sector, owning 90% of the farmland and naturally growing produce. Rarely does the public get to see this elusive CEO, but when they do, they quickly realize how cold and determined she can be, only willing to discuss the potential profits and projections of her operations in the upcoming financial quarter.

  • Affluent Ascetic: Implied, as she dislikes suits and is seen wearing rather casual clothing.
  • Animal Motif: Bear, shown through the bear footprints on her jacket.
  • Braids, Beads and Buckskins: Her braided hair, along with her dark skin and coat, suggest that she's Native American.
  • Broken Pedestal: Her respect for Eden's Garden and the Ultimate Talent Plan vanishes after she realizes that both institutions have labeled people with lackluster talents as Ultimates.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Very subtly implied, as one of her dislikes is "unions". She is also described as cold, determined, and ruthless in her business practices.
  • Go-Getter Girl: Wenona is regarded as a successful businesswoman who is known to make daring investments that result in top-dollar profits.
  • Greed: Wenona's projects are often based on how much profit can be guaranteed.
  • Ice Queen: A cold, unwavering young woman who intends to get what she wants with her business ventures.
  • Jerkass: Similarly to Damon, Wenona is condescending, arrogant, and looks down on the other Ultimates for having “pointless” talents, although much more open about her feelings compared to him. Interestingly enough, she manages to keep her cool for most of the Prologue after her introduction, with Damon instead being the one to go on a tirade about how useless the Ultimate talents of the others are near the end.
  • Nature Lover: Despite her capitalist background, she has a soft spot for forests and often ventures there when she's not working. Not to mention that her businesses revolve around agriculture and produce.
  • Only One Name: Among the students, she's the only one without a surname (or at least, the only one whose surname is unknown).
  • Unknown Rival: She's one to Grace Madison as her accomplishments have earned her more notoriety and buzz than the golfer.
  • Young and in Charge: She's only 21 but is the CEO of a major agriculture business.

In a world of stages and bright lights, the Ultimate Cosmetologist is here to make everyone beautiful. Before working as a personal stylist for some of the biggest names in media, Diana was just a simple girl trying to make it through high school. Being friends with the most popular group in her school had its advantages and gave this happy-go-lucky artist the opportunity she needed to show off her talents and pursue her goal of helping everyone discover the best versions of themselves.

    Ingrid Grimwall

Ingrid Grimwall

Ultimate Blacksmith

Voiced by: Maddy Goshorn

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ingridsplashart.png

Forging the sharpest steel in the fires of her backyard, Ingrid was determined to brand her mark in history with her weapons. While most wars are fought today with ranged weapons, the Ultimate Blacksmith finds beauty in the melee weapons of old, in both their shapes and fighting styles. Great patience and attention to detail are required to forge the blades of warriors past, and those made by Ingrid are sure to slice cleanly through their opponents (or just look good hanging over a fireplace).

  • Action Girl: She loves combat and is knowledgeable in using the weapons she crafts.
  • Amazonian Beauty: She has a muscular figure, which makes sense given her career choice, and is incredibly attractive.
  • Animal Motif: Lion. It's a bit harder to tell than most, as it's printed onto her bag.
  • The Big Guy: The biggest girl in the class. Although she shares this role with Jean.
  • The Blacksmith: Ingrid is skilled in forging any sword, weapon or metallic object.
  • Blood Knight: Her profile says that she likes combat.
  • Disappointed in You: She says this to Damon after his ruthless argument on how some of their classmates shouldn't have Ultimate titles after getting to know them.
  • Gentle Giant: Her heart is as big as her body, and she's always in a friendly mood when interacting with others.
  • Good Old Ways: Regarding weapons, Ingrid has more appreciation for classic weapons and studies their shapes and how to use them properly. She proudly boasts that her forging techniques make things even better than metalworking machines.
  • Nice Girl: Ingrid is a friendly and caring individual who serves as the Team Mom of the group.
  • Not So Above It All: She casually comments on how she uses illegal and dangerous chemical substances to help clean her weaponry.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: A sweet, polite lady with a heart as big as her muscles and short pink hair.
  • Sweet Home Alabama: Her voice actress grants her a pleasant country accent.
  • Team Mom: Given her gentle demeanor, it's hardly surprising. Best shown after the practice trial, where she's the first to step in when Eva starts accusing Wolfgang of having ulterior motives for encouraging everyone else and has a Disappointed in You moment towards Damon when he argues against said encouragement himself.
  • Younger than She Looks: Looks to be at least in her mid-twenties, especially considering her personality, but she’s barely an adult at 18, and is one of the youngest students overall.

    Grace Madison

Grace Madison

Ultimate Golfer

Voiced by: Lumisau

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gracesplashart.png

The pressure of competing against the Ultimate Golfer leaves many of her opponents afraid to meet her face-to-face on the green. Grace wants the world to know that she will continue to crush any challenger who tries to claim her title, relentlessly defending her Ultimate status. Those who've once friended this firecracker athlete eventually walk away broken and scarred by their interactions with her, questioning if she is willing to burn every bridge on the way to the top.

  • Animal Motif: Rabbit, and one of the most obvious in the form of her bunny-eared sun visor.
  • Awesome Aussie: Speaks with an American-Australian accent and is skilled enough at golf to be considered an Ultimate. Beating up Tozu with surprisingly little comeuppance only adds to it.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Thanks to her less-than-desirable behavior, she's used to demonstrate the capabilities of the shock bracelets and introduce sharpshooter Mara. She will likely get zapped much more in the foreseeable future.
    • She also suffers during the Discord-exclusive Eden's Island event, such as falling into a hole after Tozu trips her up, and throwing up after drinking rotten carrot juices.
    • In official art where characters wear costumes or seasonal outfits (such as Halloween, Easter, and Christmas art), Grace will always be in something bulky and unflattering like a pumpkin costume, an Easter egg costume, or a Christmas tree costume. She never looks happy about it.
  • Catchphrase Insult: Repeatedly calls Damon and Wolfgang "soybean". It's even one of her voice clips!
  • Corrupted Character Copy: Being a rude, foul-mouthed, attractive blonde girl with a rabbit motif and a friendless background, she draws similarities to Miu Iruma minus the shameless perversion. The difference between her and Miu, however, is that while Miu clearly has a nice side to her, even during the first meeting, and is clearly lacking in the social interaction department (not to mention that Miu secretly sees her loneliness as a sore spot for her), Grace is a jerk the entire way through and has no genuine courtesy towards others, mostly thinking about herself, and is very clearly aware that she's being a jerk. In comparison, she has more of a Hidden Heart of Gold at best.
  • Dehumanizing Insult: After meeting Toshiko, she refers to the matchmaker as a "gremlin" and uses "it" to refer to her.
  • The Dreaded: She's regarded as a fearsome opponent in the golfing circuit with very few willing to challenge her.
  • Friendless Background: Largely self-inflicted on her part. Her bio states that her friends left her when they realized how aggressive and self-centered she was with her talent.
  • Hey, You!: Would rather refer to people by their appearance or insults over learning their true names.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Though it's underneath all of the Jerkass tendencies, Grace is not an outright villain. In fact, she's the most vocal about refusing to follow along with the mastermind out of the rest of the cast.
  • Ironic Name: The name "Grace" usually evokes dignity and poise... but she's one of the most aggressive, violent, and foul-mouthed of the cast.
  • Jerkass: She gets agitated very easily and isn't afraid to insult or berate others on a whim.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While her sudden interruption halfway through the Prologue's mock trial initially seems to be nothing more than an excuse to insult everyone else at first, her point that the cast's theory failed to explain a key aspect of the mystery is not only entirely valid but actually nudges them into solving a key detail that might have been completely overlooked otherwise.
  • Jerk Jock: A high ranking golfer who's a rude person to be around.
  • Leg Focus: She is the only female participant without any leg covering, like tights or trousers. Actually, she has them completely bare.
  • Madness Mantra: At the start of the class trial, she repeats, "Get me out of here" over and over until Tozu shuts her up with a zap from her electric bracelet.
  • The Nicknamer: She's fond of slinging around insulting nicknames, particularly "soybean".
  • Passionate Sports Girl: She's a dedicated golfer who wouldn't dream of giving up her athletic career.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Suggested in fan art created by Nifast, the game's official graphic artist, wearing a tight red dress that only extends to her thighs with no bra as she shows off her legs.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Beats the crap out of Tozu after he attempts to drive the Ultimates to despair in the prologue.
  • Sir Swears Alot: Grace has a thing for trash-talking and is willing to use colorful vocabulary when playing.
  • Smug Smiler: Prone to smirking mischievously, particularly when making fun of people.
  • Statuesque Stunner: 175cm/5'9" tall and is an elegantly attractive blonde female Australian-American golfer in blue with a jock attitude.
  • Thousand-Yard Stare: Displays a fearful version of one when given the warning shot from Mara in the prologue.
  • Tomboyish Voice: Has a very deep, masculine tone of voice and uses it to shout. A lot.
  • Trash Talk: It's listed as one of her likes on her profile.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Along with the other cast members, she is quick to call out Damon on his argument that he was the only one able to get the cast through the prologue trial and that everyone else's talents were useless by comparison, as she explicitly points out his sense of self-importance, as opposed to holding back like the rest, and isolates herself from him just like everyone else.
  • White Bunny: She is themed around rabbits, notably the white-furred variant, as she wears a white rabbit-themed sun visor.
  • Workaholic: She cites working out as one of her interests while citing vacations as one of her dislikes.
  • You're Insane!: Grace refuses to follow along with Tozu's plan to manipulate her, to the point that he has to shock her whenever she actively rebels against his whims.

    Cassidy Amber

Cassidy Amber

Ultimate Pro Gamer

Voiced by: Sabrina Twyla

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cassidysplashart.png

Whether it's a First-Person shooter, or a 2D Fighter game, Cassidy makes her true power shine with her controller in hand. Her devoted fanbase, known online as "Cassidy's Comrades", cheer on this Ultimate Pro Gamer at every tournament she attends. Her very presence can energize the venues, and she keeps her raw attitude front and center, letting you know she refuses to let anyone be pushed around, herself included.

  • Animal Motif: Black Widow Spider, shown through the spider web designs on her stockings.
  • Berserk Button: She has a strong dislike for cheating.
  • Bourgeois Bohemian: While her dedication towards redistributing her earnings for the betterment of society appears to be genuine, as Wolfgang points out, her tendency to use her public displays of generosity as content for her own channel is essentially "commodifying the act of charity" and she considers truckloads of chocolate soda to be a "basic necessity". According to Cassidy herself, she reasons that it's fine for her to have money because she actually works hard to earn it, unlike the Idle Rich who earn billions every year doing nothing.
  • Chummy Commies: She apparently gives most of her earnings to the masses, and her fans are known as "Cassidy's Comrades".
  • Cool People Rebel Against Authority: In addition to her popular image, she also has a low opinion of authority figures.
  • Gamer Chick: She earned her Ultimate title by being the best Pro Gamer around.
  • Idiot Hair: Not actually visible in any of her sprites due to her Ushanka, but a character design sheet for her shared by the devs shows that she has a small one underneath her hat.
  • The Nicknamer: Likes to give quirky nicknames to her new classmates, and only sometimes asks for the other person's opinion on it.
  • Nightmare Face: While it's not as impressive as some we've seen previously, note she pulls one off when talking about her distaste for the Idle Rich. Her face becomes slightly shadowed, with what looks like a Thousand-Yard Stare and a freaky smile.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: A game streamer known for extensive philanthropy by doing insane online stunts that overlap with said philanthropy (such as giving a spaghetti factory to a public school)...are we talking about Cassidy or MrBeast?
  • Redhead In Green: She has red hair, and her outfit and eyes feature different shades of green.
  • Shout-Out: Her being a redhead, putting on the traditionally Russian ushanka (along with the accent on occasion), and motif of a Black Widow as shown above brings a certain Marvel hero to mind.
  • Speaks in Shout-Outs: She makes several Ace Attorney references, including the ladder vs. stepladder Running Gag and yelling "Objection!".

Eden's Garden Headmasters

    Tozu

Tozu

The Host

Voiced by KevCritMagnet

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tozusplashart.png

The self-declared host of the Killing Game, Headmaster Tozu claims he will bring salvation and redemption to all students attending Eden's Garden Academy. Despite his volatile demeanor, Tozu demonstrates surprising restraint when orchestrating the procedures of the Killing Game, almost as if his twisted rules have both structure and reason behind them. From what can be inferenced, there is definitely a man behind the mask.

  • The Alcoholic: Implied in Round 1 of April Anarchy, where he offers the losers of the Twitter poll some alcohol and some words of snark.
Tozu: Next time we meet, I'll bring some brandy to pass around. Hard liquor heals all wounds.
  • Animal Motif: Goats, fitting for the host of a death game in "Eden's Garden".
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: He affects the demeanor of an arrogant, Wicked Cultured nobleman, insulting the Ultimate Students as his "subordinates."
  • Big Bad: The head honcho in charge of the Killing Game.
  • Break Them by Talking: After the Ultimates successfully solve Cara Koskinen's murder, he formally shows himself and announces the Killing Game, encouraging everyone to distrust one another and generally creating a hopeless atmosphere. Grace has none of it.
  • Deadpan Snarker: His words of compassion to the losers in Round 1 of April Anarchy are full of snark.
Tozu: Please do not cry. Somewhere out there, a terminally online teenager loves you unconditionally... despite knowing nothing about you.
  • Death Glare: As shown in the prologue, one of his most common expressions is a piercing stare that he breaks out when he's trying to mentally break the Ultimates.
  • Exact Words: During the prologue's trial, he promises the students they'll be allowed to leave the trial room if they complete the false murder case. He never said anything about letting them leave Eden's Garden.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: After the prologue's Closing Argument, he expresses dismay that it only had three acts, implying he can see the manga recap of events the player has to create to sum up the case.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Any comedy Eden's Garden might have goes straight out the window when Tozu officially shows himself.
  • Large Ham: He is grandiloquent and theatrical, treating the Killing Game as a great stageplay.
  • Leitmotif: "Fractured Mind of the Viceroy", an unsettling oboe piece.
  • Malevolent Mugshot: Downplayed. The paintings of the academy grounds all have morbid animal masks as a recurring element, much like him. However, they don't all wear his goat mask.
  • Sophisticated as Hell: He has a distinguished manner of speaking, using elaborate quotes and meanings when addressing his captives, but the April Anarchy videos show he has a hidden, dorky side.
  • Villain in a White Suit: A white robe, but white nonetheless.
  • White and Red and Eerie All Over: His color scheme is predominantly white and red, and he's the Big Bad. He has red eyes to go with it.
  • Wicked Cultured: Eloquent and charming, Tozu treats the entire Killing Game like an elaborate Shakespearean tragedy. He's also quite knowledgeable about theatre.
Tozu: A measly three acts? Poor Horace would be beside himself!

    Mara

Mara

The Enforcer

Voiced by ???

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marasplashart.png

Referred to as the "Enforcer" of the Killing Game, Mara is possibly even more mysterious than Headmaster Tozu. Armed to the teeth, no remorse will be shown whenever Mara needs to take action against any of the students who break the rules. Along with her towering height and her "silent but deadly" attitude, fear will strike the hearts of anyone who falls into her sights.

    Cara Koskinen

Cara Koskinen

Ultimate Teacher's Aide

Voiced by: N/A

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peg___ch0_cg___cara_koskinens_body.png

In her life, Cara Koskinen was the Ultimate Teacher's Aide. That came to an end one day when she was murdered and stabbed 28 times in the chest. Her murder is simulated for the students of Eden's Garden in order for the students to get a feel for the Class Trial.

  • Ambiguous Situation: How much of an Asshole Victim she was is still up for debate, if she even was one. On one hand, Wenona notes that lugging an assault rifle around during her murder is strange and possibly proof that she wasn't as innocent as the rest of the cast was led to believe, but on the other hand, there's no other evidence that points to a source of maliciousness.
  • Crazy-Prepared: She was carrying a fully loaded assault rifle when she died. Where the hell she got the assault rifle is currently unknown.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Getting bleach spilled onto her head, face, and eyes, then getting stabbed 28 times. Ow.
  • Determinator: Even when she was blinded by her killer, she managed to scratch at their face before succumbing to her wounds.
  • Eye Scream: Her killer got her off guard by arranging for a bucket of bleach to spill on her, most of it getting in her eyes.
  • Meaningful Name: Not her name, but the name of her talent. As the "Ultimate Teacher's Aide", her death helps teach the Ultimates how murders are handled during the Killing Game, in a roundabout sort of way.

    Cara's Killer

The Killer of Cara Koskinen

Ultimate Talent Unknown

Voiced by: N/A

The person who murdered the Ultimate Teacher's Aide, Cara Koskinen.

  • Ambiguous Gender: Seeing as how the killer takes the form of Danganronpa's "blackened", it's unknown if they were a man or a woman. Wolfgang and Tozu insist that the killer was a man, though,
  • Ambiguous Situation: Was their killing of Cara an act of self-defense or a sadistic ambush? Wolfgang is certain of the latter, but the lack of information makes it unclear.
  • Ax-Crazy: Stabbed their victim, Cara Koskinen, a whopping 28 times. It's so violent that the murder is compared to a crime of passion during the Class Trial, and an outraged Wolfgang calls it outright sadistic.
  • Bucket Booby-Trap: Used very sinisterly to incapacitate Cara and disarm her, but with bleach instead of water.
  • Karma Houdini: Possibly. Tozu doesn't state if the killer was actually caught for their crime.
  • Sadist: Wolfgang believes the killer to have been so. Considering they blinded her with bleach and stabbed her 28 times, there may be some weight to the idea.
  • The Spook: We don't know anything about their real identity or background, with their only representation being the nondescript, bald grey figure that Danganronpa uses to indicate the killer in Closing Arguments.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Granting that the killer is indeed a man, and very violently, at that. Wolfgang is disgusted, declaring it "the worst thing a man could do".
