    # — B
  • Abstract Apotheosis: Twice.
    • She Ascends to demi-godhood by (among other good deeds) finishing Starswirl the Bearded's unfinished spell and having an epiphany regarding the nature of friendship. After her Ascension, she would be crowned a Princess by Celestia and made the newest member of the Equestrian Pantheon.
    • During the "League of Domination Crisis", she Ascends to true godhood by realizing the true nature of magic, which also gets her chosen by Mana Equus to become her first reincarnation "aspect". After this, she would inherit the throne from Celestia and Luna and was crowned as the official ruler of Equestria, changing her name to "Amicitia Sparkle Equestria" to reflect this in accordance to ancient Alicorn naming traditions.
  • Adaptational Badass: Much like her parents and older brother, Twilight Sparkle receives this treatment in Codex Equus. In addition to everything she did in canon, the Codexverse expands on them and ups the scale so that her feats are much more impressive. Of note, one of her early accomplishments was purifying a Disorder Lord (an elite minion of Discord's who is divinely empowered with Chaos) while still a mortal. The Codexverse also specifies that Twilight spent almost the entire show a demigoddess, yet her power and potential is comparable to that of Luminiferous, a "Titan"-ranked Alcorn who is thousands to millions of years older than her. It's during the "League of Domination Crisis" that she Ascends to true godhood by realizing that friendship is essentially "magic" itself, allowing her to connect with and reincarnate as Mana Equus, one of the Thirteen Empyreans.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Twilight Sparkle in canon was already a magical and scientific prodigy, but she was very neurotic, and prone to bouts of OCPD and panic attacks, especially in early seasons. Here, she is much more intelligent and competent overall, and thanks to her overcoming her canon neuroses, she proceeded to help pioneer various new spells and forms of Magitek that greatly benefited both Equestria and the world. Of particular note, she was able to create a spell straight out of The Immortal Game, which not only had enough power to heavily wound the far older Despotic Destiny, but also outright kill younger deities.
  • Adaptational Wealth: In canon, it's not specified if she and her family were well-off or not, but they do live in Canterlot. Here, she is the daughter of Duke Night Light and Duchess Twilight Velvet, who are not only important figures among the Canterlot nobility for their ancestry and powers, but are also implied to be holders of their own demesne.
  • Adaptation Name Change: In canon, Twilight kept her birth name even after inheriting the throne and becoming Equestria's official sovereign following Celestia and Luna's abdication. Here, she changes her name to "Amicitia Sparkle Equestria" during her coronation after Ascending to true godhood and reincarnating as Mana Equus. This is not only accordance to ancient Alicorn naming traditions (which require all Alicorns to change their names upon becoming ruler(s) of a specific place), it also references the Pony POV Series, where the Twilight Sparkle of that 'verse also changes her name to Amicitia (albeit as Amicitia Zorya Spes Equestria) after Ascending and replacing the dead goddess she inherited her position from.
  • All Your Powers Combined: As a Alicorn goddess, Twilight has the combined magics of all mortal Pony tribes. She also temporarily wielded all the combined power of Celestia, Luna, and Cadence in order to fight Tirek... except she turned out to be so powerful that even with three fellow Equestrian Alicorn Princesses aiding her, she successfully fought Tirek (who was similarly empowered by the stolen magic of every other non-Alicorn Pony, plus Discord's) to a standstill.
  • Alternate Self: As the Codexverse is implied to be part of a huge multiverse, Twilight has a few alternative versions of herself occupying other dimensions and timelines.
    • One version of Twilight/Amicitia came from a dimension where she mentally and spiritually merged with Trixie Lulamoon, Sunset Shimmer, and Starlight Glimmer to form a single divine gestalt, Magic Incarnate, due to all four of them being magically powerful even by divine standards. As Magic, they all possess a Hive Mind where they speak and move in unison, essentially being a single entity controlling four Alicorn bodies at once. It is under Magic's benevolent rule and guidance that the dimension they came from became a friendly and harmonious Utopia where everyone Ascended to godhood and lived in peaceful coexistence.
Kelahiran Semula Cahaya: Ah saw ya in another world, standin' with three others like ye... but ye weren't 'you', inna sense. Y'all had one voice, one mind, n' one soul. Ev'rytime ye moved, it's as one creature. Instead o' yer names, ye called yerselves Magic Incarnate, the embodiment o' Magic itself... or was it the planet's life-force? Ah don't remember.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: So kinda like you?
Kelahiran Semula Cahaya: Ehh... not really. Ah mean, Ah do change into three different creatures throughout the year, but in the end, Ah'm still me. Y'all were another thing entirely.
    • Another version of Twilight/Amicitia from the Equestria Divided timeline slowly slipped into evil following the disappearances of Celestia and Luna and the severe Crisis of Faith that followed. After an ill-planned attempt to create Alicorns that will replace Celestia and Luna (which killed Pinkie Pie and heavily disfigured Rainbow Dash), Twilight/Amicitia became a brutal warlord and Unicorn supremacist, leading House Moon and Star in a bid to conquer Equestria so she could rule it through a superior Pony race she planned to create. This led to her getting into a brutal multi-faction civil war with her former friends, all who also became warlords themselves with their own designs for Equestria. Eventually, however, that Twilight/Amicitia, along with her former friends, were defeated via intervention from various divine and mortal factions, and later tried, imprisoned, and executed for numerous war crimes (save for the Laughing Mare who was banished to whence she came, and Pinkie Pie who was given a proper burial).
    • Yet another version of Twilight/Amicitia became a deranged scientist who performed horrific experiments on innocent people For Science!, such as lobotomizing Spike (and doing it again once his brain showed signs of healing) and doing something that led to both her world and herself being trapped a nightmarish, never-ending time loop. While the gods of her world were able to resolve the situation and she was restarted with a decent life, she had to live with the knowledge that her unfettered curiosity cost her everything, with Moondancer replacing her as Celestia's personal student and Spike moving far away from her after learning what she did to him.
    • There's also Midnight Spookle, who lives in and now rules Halloween Town as its Queen. Midnight's life was very similar to Twilight/Amicitia's, having befriended a group of mares who would become the Spooky Six, and rushed to stop a villainous goddess of darkness and nightmares in order to fix a huge mistake she made in her boredom. She eventually became an Alicorn goddess like her mainline counterpart, but her domains are Dark Magic, Halloween, Celebration, and Understanding.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's an Alicorn goddess who embodies Friendship, Magic, Happy Endings, and Mana. This parallels her Ascension as the Alicorn goddess of Friendship, Magic, and Happy Endings and a member of the "Major Arcana" Alicorns in the Pony POV Series.
  • Arch-Enemy: Twilight/Amicitia is staunchly opposed by various Tribalist and Autorist factions, who see her as a major obstacle to promoting tribal/racial superiority across Equestria and beyond. The feeling is mutual, especially since their bigotry attracted the Windigos during the "League of Domination Crisis". Drabbles and quotes featuring her often involve punishing Tribalists/Autorists or verbally deconstructing their twisted beliefs.
  • The Archmage: Twilight/Amicitia is presently one of the most intelligent and powerful mages alive, and even before Ascending to godhood, she had so much potential that she became the student of Celestia herself. She can quickly learn and utilize a vast library's worth of spells on a whim, strip others of their magic indefinitely, and notably finished a spell that even Starswirl the Bearded, a Pillar of Equestria and powerful mage himself, had difficulty completing. And despite fighting Tirek with the combined powers of all Equestrian Alicorn Princesses at once, most of Twilight/Amicitia's power belonged to herself and Cadence while Tirek was partially empowered with Discord's stolen divine power, meaning that on her own, she has the power to surpass even Discord himself. What helps her is her status as a 'prodigy deity', giving her greater magic reserves on top of accelerated growth rates. Luminiferous, himself a prodigy, has noted both Twilight/Amicitia's magical potential and overall potential as a goddess rivals his own at his age, which is saying a lot. Her becoming the first reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus all but effectively formalized her status as this for all of Equidkind.
  • Badass Teacher: Twilight/Amicitia is the founder and head of the School of Friendship, an international school that invites children from all races to learn. And like Celestia before her, she's the personal mentor of a few students like Starlight Glimmer. She's also the official ruler of Equestria, an Alicorn 'prodigy' and one of the most powerful spellcasters on Equus as well as a Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus, Equidkind's first mage and the one responsible for giving all Equid species the gift of magic.
  • Batman Gambit:
    • Following Fire Ruby's accidental and permanent transformation into a Ruby Dragoness, Twilight/Amicitia allowed her to continue attending the School for Gifted Unicorns, pointing out that nothing in the rules stated that hybrids like Fire Ruby (even if her Draconic blood was originally very diluted) are forbidden from enrolling. This turned out have been intentional on Twilight/Amicitia's part, as Fire Ruby's inclusion not only prompted the greedy Dragons to demand entry into various Gifted Schools, but also attracted popular support for the idea of having Gifted Schools open for children of other races — therefore giving Twilight/Amicitia the opportunity to do so while Tribalists, Autorists, and corrupt Canterlot nobles are powerless to stop her.
    • During the "War Against Order" crisis, Twilight/Amicitia tricked Despotic Destiny into a vulnerable position by firing a continuous stream of white-hot molten metal — an attack she invented herself on the fly — at Princess Nebula Dawn, knowing Despotic Destiny's paternal attachment to Nebula would make him bear the brunt of the attack in order to protect her. The gambit worked, as Despotic Destiny was heavily injured in a way that even his incredible durability and Healing Factor were bypassed.
  • Benevolent Mage Ruler: Even as a mortal Unicorn, Twilight/Amicitia was already one of the most powerful and talented mages in the world, and becoming the Alicorn demigoddess of Magic made her even stronger. Ascending to true godhood as a reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus made her even more powerful — so much that Luminiferous notes her potential is equal to his own at his age. Twilight/Amicitia eventually succeeds Celestia and Luna as the de facto ruling Princess of the Principalities of Equestria after this, but despite her present position, she remains a compassionate, friendly, and humble mare who wants to promote friendship in her lands and beyond, and improve everyone's lives.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Twilight/Amicitia is a very nice, good ruler and very friendly. However, she has no qualms about taking down truly monstrous villains if she needs to, which is helped by her status as a divine magical prodigy and one of Mana Equus' reincarnation "aspects".
  • Big Sister Instinct: Twilight/Amicitia loves her younger adoptive brother, Spike, and is very protective of him.
    • During the "Temptation Unbound" crisis, she successfully overcame Zoufalství's Demonic Possession of her in part thanks to her love for Spike, but was so enraged by what the Fallen god nearly made her do that she gives him a brutal "The Reason You Suck" Speech, briefly unveiling her true divine form as a Alicorn-shaped singularity made of magic in the process. Zoufalství, terrified, flees into the Castle of Friendship's basement to avoid her. To punish him even further, she invites over Princess Marea the moment she figures out Zoufalství's weakness, leading to Marea pummeling him and sealing away much of his power to render him harmless.
    • When news of both Gael and Talon Bàis' atrocities towards mortal Dragonkind reached her, she was extremely horrified because Spike, a young Dragon, is part of her family. It's not until Talon Bàis solders and dragonslayers attacked both the the local Equestrian Dragonflights and other 'Free Dragon' allies that she formally declares war and unhesitatingly gave General Aryte her explicit permission to retaliate against the enemy. Friends have noted she spent the entire event stewing in Tranquil Fury.
  • Birthmark of Destiny: Twilight/Amicitia's star-themed Cutie Mark is the same symbol as the Element of Magic that was emblazoned on the Tree of Harmony itself, and it's noted to be something she shares with her older brother, Shining Armor. While the exact meaning of her Cutie Mark is unknown, it is generally agreed that it is proof of a great destiny, though Luminiferous points out Sunset Shimmer had the same potential to be in Twilight/Amicitia's position had she not squandered it with her greed and ambition. Later, Twilight/Amicitia's Cutie Mark plays a prominent role when she discovers Mana Equus, one of the Empyrean Alicorns who gave Equidkind the gift of magic, has the same Cutie Mark. And because of her potential and genuine desire to spread friendship to everyone, Twilight/Amicitia is chosen by Mana Equus to become her first Reincarnation "aspect", bequeathing her all her memories, magic, and other unique abilities currently unexplored.
  • Blue Blood: Pun aside, Twilight/Amicitia was born the youngest daughter and child of Duke Gypsy Night Light and Duchess Twilight Velvet, who both wield political power second to the authority of Princesses Celestia and Luna prior to their abdication. Years later, she would rise above her station and become the official ruling Princess of Equestria, outranking her parents.
  • Born Winner: Subverted. While Twilight/Amicta was indeed born with great magical power and has a Cutie Mark that strongly resembles the Element of Magic itself, most of her greatest achievements were done va her own merit. Even Luminiferous points out that Sunset Shimmer could have been in her place had she not chosen to squander her own potential out of selfishness. Also, the reason why the Church of the Stars' members were keeping Twilight/Amicitia's status as a Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus a secret from the public is so she could be protected from those who would envy/resent her for either being "born special" or having some pre-existing divine favor — at least until things were deemed "safe" enough for the information to be made public. When some stubborn Canterlot nobles accused her of "lucking" her way to the Equestrian throne, Discord would defend her on her behalf.
Discord: Look, the only 'luck' involved was her making the right choices far more often than the wrong ones and having great friends. Otherwise, everything she gained, she did it off of hard work and determination. Trust me, as one of her former worst enemies, I would know.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Twilight/Amicitia is described as as having a dark sapphire-blue mane and tail, with purple and rose-colored stripes going through her hair. She's also a renowned Equestrian heroine, a magical prodigy, a member of the Mane Six, and a very powerful Alicorn Princess who eventually succeeded Celestia and Luna as ruler of Equestria. She is also a Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus, the Empyrean Magician, who had dark blue hair with a light blue stripe, and was the one who gave Equidkind the ability to use magic.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: Subverted. Like in canon, Twilight/Amicitia is close to her older brother, Shining Armor, and admires him a great deal, but several tabloids took the chance to exaggerate this platonic closeness by portraying her and Shining Armor as being outright incestuous. Understandably, she was quite disgusted and pointed out that both of them are siblings and Shining Armor is already married to Princess Cadence.
Princess Twilight Sparkle: I mean, I get why creatures pair me with my brother, but... This is my BROTHER we're talking about. And he's married!

    C — E
  • Child Prodigy: As a mortal filly, Twilight/Amicitia had an insatiable curiosity that was naturally encouraged by her family. During her entry exam into the School for Gifted Unicorns, she displayed such an immense amount of magic that she hatched a Dragon egg and briefly aged the hatchling into a full-grown Dragon. Her sheer magic potential led to her becoming one of Celestia's personal students.
  • The Chosen One: Played with; while Twilight/Amicitia is indeed the Chosen One for a lot of things, she's also The Unchosen One in that many of the things she has now, including sovereignty and godhood, were all because she worked for it and used her talents to benefit others. It has been pointed out that others could have been her if they made the right choices — Sunset Shimmer and Starfall Dusk are two examples who had the same levels of potential and talent as her, but they both squandered it on selfish ambitions.
    • In her mortal youth, she was intended by Celestia to unlock the Elements of Harmony and defeat Nightmare Moon, which is why Celestia sent her to Ponyville. As it turned out, making friends with others was what made using the Elements of Harmony possible in the first place. In her case, her Element was Magic, being the one who brought the Mane Six together. She would later pass on her Element of Magic to Gallus the Griffon.
    • Sometime after defeating the Storm King, she and the Mane Six would be chosen by the Tree of Harmony to go on missions to aid others, both within Equestria and beyond the country's borders. This would lead to events like bringing the Yaks out of isolation and bringing the Hippogriffs/Sea Ponies back to the surface.
    • She's the chief candidate to become 'She Who Will Unite Us All', one of three beings required to break the Cycle, according to the prophecy made by the Church of the Stars. In her case, it's notable since she was explicitly named by said prophecy, while the identities of the other two were left vague.
    • She was also chosen by Celestia and Luna as both their heir to the throne of Equestria and intended Top God of the Equestrian Pantheon. The main reason is that Twilight proved herself to be not only The Archmage, but also a better leader overall and good at handling responsibilities whereas Celestia and Luna themselves turned out to be unsuited for ruling.
    • Towards the end of the "League of Domination Crisi",s she ends up reincarnating as Mana Equus because she realized the the true value of magic yet seeks to use that power for benevolent purposes. However, this ends up becoming a case of The Chosen Many later on as other Equines start reincarnating as Mana — as stated by Mana herself, every Equine as the potential to become her due to possessing a piece of her divine essence inside them when she gave their kind magic. The more Equines reincarnate as Mana, the more Mana's soul is "tethered" to the mortal plane, making every single reincarnation co-hosts of her soul rather than a main Reincarnation and a bunch of soulless "clones". The Church of the Stars has been keeping the nature of her Ascension a secret so she wouldn't be attacked by those who think she's either 'born' into greatness or has some kind of divine favor.
  • Classical Anti-Hero: Much like her canon self in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, she started off as an asocial, Insufferable Genius who prioritized studying over making friends, and was essentially a walking ball of insecurities, self-doubt, and arrogance. Being sent to Ponyville and working with five other mares who would become the Mane Six to defeat Nightmare Moon put her on the path of becoming a better person. By the time she Ascends to true godhood and becomes the ruler of Equestria, she has gotten over most, if not all of the flaws that crippled her as a filly.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • It's reported In-Universe that Twilight/Amicitia befriended King Moon Ray Vaughoof/Canticum Lunae Cahaya, likely over undergoing a big transformation that gave them new insights and powers, but with little control or experience over them. The difference is that Moon Ray/Canticum became an Eldritch Abomination after realizing the cyclic nature of things and reconciling with his Prophecy domain, whereas Twilight/Amicitia Ascended to true godhood by realizing that friendship is magic, which allowed her to become the first Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus, the Thirteenth Empyrean. This information is kept secret by the Church of the Stars to protect her from those who might resent her for being "born" into greatness or having some kind of divine favor.
    • Her intelligence also attracted a good number of deities (and demi-deities) who are similar to her in both intellect and domains, like Princes-Regent Merula, Prince Crimson Star, King Baarish, and Queen Ragionaire.
    • Towards the end of the 'League of Domination Crisis', she meets the Thirteenth Empyrean, Mana Equus, who turns out to be heavily similar to Amicitia. Not only is Mana Equus an intelligent and powerful mage like Amicitia, but she's also a staunch believer in The Power of Friendship, as that's what motivated King Equus to create Equinekind. Mana Equus is also an Endearingly Dorky bookworm who geeks out like Amicitia does whenever she makes a successful discovery, which is what she does when Amicitia correctly answers "friendship is magic" in response to one of her questions.
  • Crossover Relatives: Since Codex Equus is a Massive Multiplayer Crossover, she ends up becoming related to a lot of characters from other My Little Pony works, and more outside of it.
    • She's revealed to be a descendant of the First Age's Twilight the Wisher and Twilight of Paradise Estate through her mother, Twilight Velvet. Both of them explain why her family, herself specifically, is gifted with incredibly strong magic, as both Twilights of the First Age were powerful mages themselves.
    • She's also the descendant of Clover Bloom of the "Tales/Virtuous Seven" through one of her children. This makes her a very distant relative of Prince Shamrock Bloom, the Alicorn god of Luck, Dance, and Prophecy, who never had any biological children himself due to being aromantic and asexual.
    • She's related to Peachy (now Queen Rhodinite), a proto-My Little Pony toy and the first ever made, as well as the progenitor of modern Ponykind as all Ponies are ultimately descended from her. This also makes her a very distant descendant of Emperor Golden Scepter, an Expy of the Emperor of Mankind, who created Peachy (and adopted her as his daughter) and helped develop the Earth Pony tribe through Peachy's children.
    • She's also related to Mana Equus in a weird way — as noted above, she's descended from Peachy, who is both the adoptive (and technically biological) daughter of Emperor Golden Scepter, who is a biological nephew of Mana Equus. However, during the "League of Domination Crisis", she Ascends to godhood and ends up becoming the first of many reincarnation "aspects" of Mana Equus due to her strong beliefs in friendship resonating with Mana's spirit. Now she is the great-aunt of almost every character from previous generations of My Little Pony and even non-MLP media, such as Mzazi/Zigzag, Peachy, Golden Scepter, and any children they have had, as well as a "sister" of the Thirteen Empyerans, who are expies of the Thirteen Primes.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Despite Starfall Dusk having empowered herself with the Elements of Harmony and the bound souls of her friends, she was beaten very easily thanks to the Elements betraying her and Twilight/Amicitia increasing her own power by manifesting Mana Equus' part of her soul as Mana's reincarnation.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Her birth name is Twilight Sparkle, which refers to a period where the day and night intersect, and she has a dark sapphire-blue mane and tail. She's also a benevolent and powerful Equestrian heroine who eventually becomes an Alicorn goddess. This is taken even further when she reincarnates as Mana Equus, who had a similarly dark blue mane and tail as well as a dark blue wing gradient in life.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She initially saw King Magna as another villainous conqueror from the past, based on hearsay from Emperor Golden Scepter and others about how Magna not only had the power and means to take over the world, but actually did so several times in pre-Known History. However, once she meets Magna himself and he shows that they're really not so different after all, she starts seeing him as a benevolent king with good intentions.
  • Deity of Human Origin: As in canon, she went from a mortal Unicorn to an Alicorn demigoddess by completing/rewriting Starswirl's unfinished spell. During the 'League of Domination Crisis', she would Ascend to true godhood by realizing the true power of magic. This leads to her Ascending even further when, in doing so, she makes her magic core regenerate and becomes the first Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus.
  • De-power: Invoked. As the Alicorn goddess of Magic, she has the ability to strip someone of their magic indefinitely, especially as a way to punish them for abusing magic, though her entry notes that she only reserves this as a punishment for the worst types of criminals. This is what she did to the villainous unicorn trio Decepticolt, Zappityhoof, and Goldencap, having been rightly enraged by their action of magically amputating Rainbow Dash's wings so they could use them to turn themselves into Alicorns at the pegasus mare's expense.
  • Emperor Scientist: She is presently both an Alicorn goddess and the de facto ruler of Equestria following Celestia and Luna's abdication, and she's also one of the brightest and most talented divine mages in Known History. Much of her accomplishments involved creating/pioneering new spells and various forms of Magitek well into the Fourth Age.
  • Endearingly Dorky: Much like her canon self, she is incredibly dorky, a trait that she inherited from her father. She is both very surprised and weirded out when she discovers Mana Equus is not only just as dorky, but is the first Equid dork.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: After being asked by Mana Equus on what happened to Tranquil Harbor, she recalls Tranquil Harbor had a piece of the dead god Promes inside of him that later regenerated. That's when she realizes he effectively became Promes' reincarnation.
Mana Equus: ...Do you remember what happened to Tranquil Harbor?
Princess Twilight Sparkle: He had a piece of Promes inside of him and... (realizes what happened to Tranquil Harbor) It regenerated and he became... became...
  • Evil Me Scares Me:
    • She was horrified when she discovered an alternative version of her from the "Researcher Universe" became an extremely unhinged Mad Scientist who, among other things, lobotomized her universe's Spike (and did it again after his mind showed signs of healing) and later trapped the world in a nightmarish time loop. She used that version of her as a cautionary tale for herself and others of similar intellect/talent like her not to let themselves go too far.
    • She was very disturbed when she learned from Moon Ray/Canticum that in another timeline, she became a brutal warlord and Unicorn supremacist who warred with her former friends in a bid to take over Equestria, believing that Unicorns like herself deserved to rule in place of the mysteriously absent Celestia and Luna. Various friends had to assure her that that alternate version of herself is not her and the choices that version made were her own.

  • Foil:
    • To King Aspen: Both of them are prodigy students who became Godlings after doing good deeds under the mentoring of flawed but still well-meaning and wise mentors, who both Aspen and Twilight/Amicitia saw as their parental figures. However, whereas Princess Celestia was able to instill benevolence and compassion into her student and mold Twilight/Amicitia into the noble Princess of Friendship she eventually became, High King Irminsul's toxic mentality influenced Aspen into becoming just as close-minded, self-righteous, xenophobic, and generally unpleasant to others, despite being a good ruler to his subjects and a good parent/husband to his family.
    • To Moon Ray Vaughoof: Both are divine prodigies, except Twilight/Amicitia specializes in magic, whereas Moon Ray specializes in Psychic Powers. Twilight/Amicitia was born into nobility, while Moon Ray was born to a family of average income. Twilight/Amicitia had Good Parents growing up, while Moon Ray's birth father was an abusive drunk (though he does get adopted into a massive family of Death deities later on). Twilight/Amicitia was an introverted shut-in who learns to make friends with others in order to defeat Nightmare Moon, while Moon Ray was an angry, bitter, and traumatized person who learns to be more forgiving of others' transgressions. Twilight/Amicitia is the named centerpiece of an overarching prophecy as "She Who Will Unite Us All", whereas Moon Ray can "break" prophecies and cycles after his Eldritch Transformation (and believes no one can predict everything). And while Twilight/Amicitia managed to become the first Reincarnation "aspect" of a dead goddess, with that fact kept secret by the Church of the Stars, Moon Ray is a Death god whose eldritch status is well-known by the public and causes him to shift through an endless cycle of life and death.
  • Friendly Rivalry: It's mentioned that she and Prince Crimson Star have a friendly rivalry, due to being intelligent and powerful demi-divine (initially in her case) royals.
  • From Zero to Hero: Like in canon, she went from a bookish, introverted Insufferable Genius who thought she was better off without friends, to a renowned Equestrian heroine and, following her Ascension to demi-godhood, one of the official ruling Princesses of Equestria. Then following the 'League of Domination Crisis', she becomes a true goddess, the first Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus, one of the Thirteen Empyreans, and replaces both Celestia and Luna as the sole ruler of Equestria. Both deities and mortals also recognize and acknowledge her as possibly one of the most powerful Alicorn mages on the planet.
  • Generation Xerox: Much like her father, Gypsy Night Light, she was born a brilliant Pony yet was an Ineffectual Loner who preferred studying over making friends. They ended up meeting other Ponies who would become close to them by literally going outside — Night Light met his future wife when staying outside to study the stars led to Twilight Velvet accidentally walking into him, while his daughter Twilight met the mares who would form the Mane Six when she was sent to Ponyville by Celestia to make friends. They're also both Seers, with her domain of Happy Endings being rumored to be the result of her inheriting her precognitive abilities from Night Light.
  • God Is Good: She's a compassionate goddess and Magnetic Hero who wants to make the world a better place through friendship. That being said, she is willing to use lethal force if necessary.
  • Good Counterpart: To Starfall Dusk. They're both intelligent and magically-gifted Unicorns who initially started out as bookish mares who weren't interested in making friends, but that's where the similarities end. Unlike Twilight, whose rise to greatness started with making friends, Starfall gradually became obsessed with studying Ascension and friendship, causing her to commit acts so cruel and depraved that even the Alicorn Ascendancy (which she joined) quickly disowned her. And unlike Twilight, who later became an Alicorn goddess and became the first Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus through friendship, Starfall bound the spirits of her friends she tortured to death to herself to gain power, and when she is soundly rejected by Mana Equus, Starfall Dusk tries to outright rip Mana's soul out of Twilight. Both Twilight/Amicitia and Mana Equus note that Starfall Dusk's main failing is that she ultimately cared about herself, and acknowledges that had they made the wrong choices, they would've been in Starfall Dusk's place instead. In the end, it's Starfall Dusk's refusal to truly understand friendship or acknowledge her own faults that damns her, and she is left by Twilight/Mana to her fate of being taken by Nekelmu to suffer in his Hell-Realms.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Benevolent and friendly goddess she may be, Twilight/Amicitia is far more willing to be ruthless against foes that have genuinely proven themselves to be beyond redemption, even killing them if she has to.
    • She stripped Decepticolt, Goldencap, and Zappityhoof of their magic indefinitely because of how they callously amputated Rainbow Dash's wings for their own benefit, not caring if this would cripple the Pegasus for life. She would have made them face legal justice for their crimes, too, had Rainbow Dash not been too focused on her excitement over getting her wings back, allowing the Unicorns to escape.
    • She was furious with Starfall Dusk for torturing her own friends to death and binding their souls to herself for the sake of becoming a goddess — so much that she manifests Mana Equus' part of her soul. Then she defeats Starfall Dusk quite easily and frees the latter's friends with the help of the Mane Six, before giving her a lengthy "The Reason You Suck" Speech on why she would never become Mana Equus' reincarnation or a goddess at all. She also lets Starfall Dusk be taken by Nekelmu to be punished for her crimes, but by this point she is more sympathetic and disappointed for her than angry.
    • She hired many veteran heroes to be part of the School of Friendship's staff so its students can be protected from threats like Tribalists and Autorists. Rockhoof, one of the hired heroes, proceeded to literally send one such group flying away from the school grounds.
    • She participated in the investigations of the Striga Family, and focused on locating their victims and clients, even if those who were transferred into host bodies were entirely innocent. In one case, she was enraged with how Lucky Shot's tribalist, aristocratic grandparents treated him (had both of his parents killed in a bombing that was originally an assassination gone wrong, took the horribly burned Lucky Shot and had his soul transferred into the body of a unicorn colt without his consent, and horribly abused him in trying to mold him into the ideal Unicorn scion) and had them arrested.
  • God of Good: She is an Alicorn goddess who embodies Friendship, Magic, and Happy Endings. Furthermore, they're the same domains possessed by Twilight Sparkle from the Pony POV Series after she Ascends as Princess Amicitia and replaces the original Amicitia.
  • Guile Hero: During her fight with an escaped Discord, Twilight and the other Mane Six ensured Discord's downfall by exploiting his hubris and making sure he didn't notice they broke free of their discording. This includes covertly purifying/defeating several 'Disorder Lords' (which is an impressive feat for a group of mortals). The result was Discord believing his spell was still in effect, resulting in him being turned back to stone by the Mane Six with the restored Elements of Harmony. This incident put the Mane Six in the international spotlight and earned the personal attention of the Changeling Courts, who collectively consider Discord to be their Arch-Enemy.
  • Happily Married: She eventually weds Captain Flash Sentry, who Ascended to godhood by that point and had been crowned as Prince Magnus Dorado Sentinel Equestria a year later. They have since enjoyed a happy marriage together.
  • Head Desk: In one Codex drabble, she learns from Prince Maestro I that a video game company tried having Button Mash assassinated so he wouldn't become a God of Gaming and thus hold them responsible for their predatory behavior... all while ignoring that Button Mash is the student of an ancient Alicorn god who has been going after corrupt corporate executives for three Ages. She was so gobsmacked by the video game company's stupidity that she felt the strong urge to slam her head against a wall.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: (to Prince Maestro I) ...I'm going to go slam my head against a wall and then get the Just Detectives on this.
  • Heroic BSoD:
    • She discovers to her horror that her Ascension to demigodhood partially inspired Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker to perform horrific experiments on Pony foals and teenagers in order to replicate the Ascension process for the rest of Ponykind, ultimately leading to the 'birth' of Crystal Prism. She is so afflicted with guilt afterwards that she wishes she never earned her wings at all, until her mother, Twilight Velvet, snaps her out of this mindset by informing her that blaming herself for something that isn't even her fault isn't going to help anyone.
    • She's also horrified and disgusted when Kúzelník tells her the reasons why he ran away from the Elternteil Deer Pantheon and sought protection in the Church of the Stars, including what his father, High King Irminsul, had done to his then-unborn younger brother.
Princess Twilight/Amicitia Sparkle: He... He purified his own son? In the WOMB? When his son wasn't even evil to BEGIN WITH?! That- That's just HORRIBLE! I- I... Oh sweet Celestia, I think I need a moment...
    • During the "Temptation Unbound" crisis, she understandably fell into a period of grief and stress over Ispita's unsealing, blaming herself for it occurring. This unfortunately allowed Zoufalství, the god of Despair, Grief, and Depression, to possess her so he could exploit her grief and make her kill Spike. Fortunately, she overcomes her Demonic Possession — and her Heroic BSOD — with Spike's help, allowing her to defeat Zoufalství and render him both harmless and isolated within the Castle of Friendship's basement.
  • Heroic Lineage: Her mother, Duchess Twilight Velvet, is a badass and powerful Magic Knight, and a very intelligent mare who's really good at hiding her true character and capabilities until it's time for her to strike. Her father, Duke Gypsy Night Light, is Canterlot's Royal Astronomer/Astrologer who was instated during the reigns of Princesses Celestia and Luna, and a powerful Seer and The Archmage with a large arsenal of both magical and psychic abilities (though a Squishy Wizard in terms of physical combat). Going farther back, it's revealed that through her mother, she is descended from Twilight of Paradise Estate and Twilight the Wisher, while through her father, she is descended from Gypsy Wheel, who was a Court Seer and friend of Queen Majesty when the latter was alive, all from the First Age. She's also a descendant of Clover Bloom of the "Tales Seven" through one of her children, making her a very distant relative of Clover's son, the Alicorn god Prince Shamrock Bloom, who is asexual and thus never had children.
  • The High Queen: Though the official title in Equestria is 'Prince/Princess', she is a benevolent ruler who is extremely well-liked even beyond Equestria for her compassion, friendliness, and approachability. Both Celestia and Luna specifically chose her to be their successor because she constantly proved herself to be far better at handling the responsibilities of ruling both a mortal country and a divine pantheon than they were.
  • Hive Mind: She eventually gains this as more Equines start reincarnating as Mana Equus, like the twins Bossa Nova/Rubeus and Blue Suede/Caerulus, her older brother Shining Armor/Aegis, and Glory/Magus. As all of them are reincarnation "aspects" of the same goddess and therefore the same person technically, they possess a Psychic Link that lets them telepathically communicate with each other, sense each other's presences, and see through their eyes as Blue Suede/Caerulus and Bossa Nova/Rubeus would with their Twin Telepathy. However, it's downplayed as all of them have individual personalities and are able to act on their own, and Mana lets them be the dominant aspect while she takes a "backseat".
  • Humble Hero: Despite her divinity and (many) achievements, she knows she is not perfect, and would be the first one to say so. This is partially why Mana Equus chose her — rather than seize the opportunity to become Mana's reincarnation out of ambition or selfishness, she humbly believes that she isn't worthy of reincarnating as one of Equinekind's first deities, but still chooses to because she puts the well-being of other people first.
  • "I Can't Look!" Gesture: She/Mana Equus looks away, unable to watch, while Starfall Dusk is dragged away, kicking and screaming, by Nekelmu to his Hell-Realms for breaking the Primeval Laws in denying her own friends' souls the right to pass on to a Heaven-Realm.
  • I Hate Past Me: She really dislikes being reminded of how she used to be obsessed with Princess Celestia and following the rules in her younger days — especially when people use such knowledge to flanderize her as a sycophantic, Obstructive Bureaucrat.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Why is it that people LOVE portraying me as some sycophantic idiot who prefers to deal with issues by-the-book?
Spike: Well, Twlight, I remember you obsessed over Pri- sorry, Celestia quite a bit.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: I wasn't THAT obsessed with her! Was I...?
Spike: And I remember you were QUITE a stickler for the rules before we went to Ponyville...
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Ugh... the less we talk about my younger self, the better.
  • Immortal Genius: She is a mix of both this and Emperor Scientist. A magical and scientific prodigy even as a mortal, she Ascended to demi-godhood by finishing a spell created by the Pillar of Equestrias' Starswirl the Bearded, who notably had trouble with completing it himself. Following her first Ascension, she would create and pioneer various spells and Magitek well into the Fourth Age. After Ascending to true godhood and becoming Mana Equus' reincarnation, she would continue her work, all while being humble royalty. Indeed, she would earn her reputation as being one of the most powerful and accomplished divine mages alive.
  • Immortal Ruler: She was an 'Ascendant demigod' Princess for much of the Codexverse, as was in canon, and technically, Ponyville is seen by visiting royal mortal/divine dignitaries as Twilight's territory. Later on, she would become the official ruler of Equestria itself after she Ascends as an Alicorn Godling and as a divine reincarnation of Mana Equus during the "League of Domination Crisis", and Princesses Celestia and Luna abdicate the throne in order to make way for her, having intended her to be their successor all along. To symbolize her transformation into an official ruling Princess, she would be renamed "Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria", as ancient Alicorn traditions dictated that full-fledged Alicorn royalty must take the name of the country they're ruling over as part of their names.
  • Ineffectual Loner: In her mortal youth, she was originally somewhat stuck-up and antisocial; while she did have friends before, she prioritized her studies over friendship and didn't form close bonds with anyone. This caused Celestia to send her to Ponyville, hoping to make her overcome this mindset if she was to awaken the Elements of Harmony in time to defeat Nightmare Moon. It worked, and she has come a very long way since then.
  • Insufferable Genius: In her mortal youth, she was a brilliant filly with astounding intelligence and magical talent, but she was somewhat stuck-up and preferred studying over making friends. Part of the reason why Celestia sent her to Ponyville to make friends because she wanted her to snap out of this behavior, which she soon does.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: She became friends with Moon Ray Vaughoof, who is chronologically three Ages older than her despite him being physically an Empyrean-level Alicorn post-Eldritch Transformation. Their friendship is mostly based on their experiences of being Unskilled, but Strong, though Twilight/Amicitia's status as Mana Equus' first reincarnation "aspect" is kept a secret from the public for a time.
  • In the Blood: A lot of her canon personality traits, such as her love for studying and organizing, and her dorkiness, turned out to have come from her father, Gypsy Night Light. Even her backstory as an friendless Ineffectual Loner mirrored that of her father's in his youth, more or less. She would also develop precognitive abilities like her father did; it's rumored that her domain of Happy Endings were the result of her inheriting her abilities from Night Light.
  • It's All My Fault: She blamed herself for Page Wheel's rebirth as Crystal Prism, as well as the destruction inflicted on the Grittish Isles caused by Crystal Prism's initial rampage. Her guilt was so strong that she believed it would be better for everyone if she didn't earn her wings or become a Princess at all. It's deconstructed; as her mother, Twilight Velvet, points out to her, continuously blaming herself for a tragedy that was out of her control isn't going to solve anything. Velvet also assures her that she still did her best and nothing would ever change that.

  • Karmic Jackpot: Invoked and played straight.
    • She sought out Princess Magicum Ponyland, who had become a bitter, misanthropic recluse intent on living out her days in Sacred Darkness, and impresses her with her sincerity in wanting to help sapientind become better and use wands and staves for good. She is rewarded when Magicum makes and gifts her with her own Magic Staff, Arcane Nova.
    • To reward Prince Healing Song for all the good things he did for the Church of the Stars and for being a good friend to Spike, she helped Princess Magicum craft a Magic Staff named Medela Lux, which she shortly gave to Healing Song. It's noted that she also wanted to cheer him up once his fears of becoming evil like War Rock came to light. She then helped teach Healing Song how to use his new staff when he expressed confusion over using it compared to his old staff.
Prince Healing Song: Twilight...? What's this for?
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: It's for you. As a gift.
Prince Healing Song: But I already have a staff.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: I know. But you've done a lot of good things for everyone and I wanted to thank you on behalf of the Church. Also, you've been a really good friend to Spike, and he speaks about you a lot. I want to thank you for that, too.
Prince Healing Song: Ah. You're welcome, Twilight. I'm just not sure if I'll be able to use this like I did my other staff.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Oh, don't worry. I'll help you with that. It took me a while to get used to my own staff, so you're not the only one.
    • To pay back then-Prince Blue Suede Heartstrings/Caerulus Melodia Equestria for being a good friend to Rainbow Dash/Princess Fidelitas and Fluttershy/Queen Gaia Posey I, she legalized his mortal followers, the Blue Bards, as an official religion.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Thank you so much for being a good friend to Shy and Dashie, Blue. I remember hearing you telling them quite a few stories of your past adventures.
Prince Caerulus Melodia Equestria: Ah, hehe, yer quite welcome, ma'am. Ah try mah best t' look after the girls.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: I know you do. And please, call me Twilight.
  • Karmic Transformation: Invoked.
  • Large and in Charge: Due to deities growing Stronger with Age in the Codexverse, she has grown larger in only a couple of years after Ascending. Being a 'prodigy deity' accelerated her growth rates to abnormal degrees compared to 'normal' deities. She is also a Princess and the official ruler of Equestria following Celestia and Luna's abdication.
  • The Leader: As the Bearer of Magic, she served as the leader of the Mane Six, since she was the one who brought them and their respective Elements together. Later on, she would become the official ruler of Equestria after Celestia and Luna stepped down, as well as the new Top God of the second Equestrian Pantheon. It's noted that Celestia and Luna chose her to be their successor because she was natural at leadership overall, something they themselves proved to be unfit for during their reign due to having talents in other things like teaching and combat.
  • Magic Is Feminine: She's a Unicorn mare-turned-Alicorn goddess as well as the first Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus, the Empyrean Magician, and one of her domains is Magic. She's also considered to be one of the greatest divine mages in Equestria, if not the world. Because Equestria was still a matriarchy by the time she became its ruler, many Ponies believed that only mares like her, Sunset Shimmer, and Starlight Glimmer are capable of wielding powerful magic. She herself strongly disagrees — when she discovered, through her investigations of many ancient Equestrian magic schools, that several corrupt female authorities were using this to justify their abuse of male students, she promptly had the corrupt mares arrested and chewed them out for their misandry, listing off the top of her head various divine/mortal stallions who are powerful mages/psychics/sorcerers themselves.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: You think only mares are capable of wielding powerful magic like me, Sunset Shimmer, and Starlight Glimmer?! I know PLENTY of stallions who'll tell you just how wrong you are! Starswirl the Bearded! Blue Suede! Golden Scepter and his sons! Moon Ray! Healing Song! Shining Armor! Luminiferous! Magna! And those are just from the top of my head!
  • Magic Staff: She receives one named Arcane Nova, crafted by Princess Magicm Ponyland following the Council of Friendship's first loss against High Queen Sekra. Made from a tree grown in the Bogolenya Deer Pantheon's divine realms, Arcane Nova possesses magically enhanced durability, with its core being made of Alicorn hair taken from its wielder to make it "loyal" to her. The staff drastically increases the strength of her spells at the cost of higher mana consumption due to being made of hardwood, and it works particularly well with her Friendship-based magics.
  • Magnetic Hero: Cultura describes her as this. Even before becoming an Alicorn goddess, she was a compassionate and friendly individual who was popular even among both non-Equestrians and non-Pony races for her approachable nature. This, combined with her natural leadership skills, was what influenced Celestia and Luna to name her their successor. Her intelligence also attracted a good number of deities who are similar to her in both intellect and domains, like Princess-Regent Merula.
  • The Magnificent:
    • Her old title was "the Bearer of Magic", which refers to her former status as bearer of the Element of Magic, which she has since passed on to Gallus.
    • Her title upon becoming an Alicorn demigoddess is "the Princess of Friendship", as Friendship is one of her domains.
    • Her new title upon Ascending to true godhood as the first Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus, the Empyrean Magician and becoming the sole de facto ruler of Equestria is "the Spark of Friendship", which refers to how she "sparks" friendships in people by encouraging them to befriend others.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • Her birth name, Twilight Sparkle is a two-fold example. "Twilight" refers to a time where the night and day briefly interact; she is responsible for reconciling Celestia and Luna by freeing/purifying the latter of her Nightmare Moon form. And as the (former) Bearer of Magic, she is the spark needed to ignite the other Elements' power, hence her status as The Leader of the Mane Six. A "twilight" also refers to a time of decline; she came to power during the 'Time of Trials' when Equestria during Celestia and Luna's reign was experiencing an extreme social/political upheaval.
    • Her Alicorn name, Amicitia Sparkle Equestria, translates to "friendship" in Latin. When combined with "Sparkle", it refers to how she 'sparks' friendships by encouraging them in others, hence her new title as "the Spark of Friendship. The addition of 'Equestria' to her new name refers to how she rules over Equestria now, which stems from an ancient Alicorn tradition that requires Alicorns adopt the name of the country they're ruling over.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her birth name was 'Twilight Sparkle'. After inheriting the throne from Celestia and Luna and becoming the sole de facto ruler of Equestria (a position she was groomed for by her mentors), she would be renamed 'Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria'. Amicitia translates to 'friendship' in Latin which, combined with Sparkle, refers to how she 'sparks' and encourages friendships in others, befitting her new title as "the Spark of Friendship". The addition of 'Equestria' to her new name refers to her official leadership over Equestria, which stems from an ancient Alicorn tradition that requires Alicorns adopt the name of the country they're ruling over.
  • Mirror Character:
    • Despite having several traits that set them apart, both she and Moon Ray Vaughoof (now King Canticum Lunae Cahaya) are ultimately very similar: They are purple-haired/furred prodigies who were forced by loved ones and external circumstances to overcome crippling, self-destructive flaws. By doing this, they end up Ascending to godhood, turning them into Living Legends. Eventually, they would Ascend even further by doing something under great duress — Moon Ray would re-Ascend into an eldritch god by realizing the cyclic nature of things and reconciling with his Prophecy domain, while Twilight/Amicitia became the Reincarnation of Mana Equus by realizing that magic essentially runs on The Power of Friendship during the "League of Domination Crisis".
    • Many people have compared King Dumortierite to Princess Twilight/Amicitia Sparkle, and rightfully so. They are both magical prodigies who once thought little of friendship and preferred to study magic, but spending time with others caused them to learn how important and rewarding friendship is. They also Ascended to godhood as deities of Magic and Friendship under the tutelage of benevolent deities, and became respected divine sovereigns (though Dumortierite doesn't see himself as such) who did everything they could to oppose bigotry and corruption of all kinds. The only main difference between them is that unlike Twilight/Amicitia, Dumortierite actually grew up in an extremely toxic environment that discouraged 'weakness', and lost his first friends to cruel and haughty bigots, which shaped his behavior and actions later on. Unsurprisingly, he and Twilight/Amicitia would become friends over each other's similarities, with Twilight/Amicitia later gifting him his own Magic Wand.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: As an Alicorn, she has the chimeric traits of all mortal Pony tribes.
  • Mutants: Here, she is a "So Soft Pony", having inherited a mutant gene from her mother where her fur is somewhat thicker and much softer than normal. This can provide her a natural armor. Her entry notes that while she isn't exceptionally skilled with using her mutation yet, she does have the potential to become such, especially since she's a Alicorn goddess and thus has more power than a normal Pony with the same "So Soft" gene.
  • My Rule Fu Is Stronger than Yours: Twilight is good at this. One good example being how she handled the situation with Fire Ruby, a student at the School for Gifted Unicorns who accidentally turned herself into a Ruby Dragoness during her entrance exam. While technically a dragon being in the School for Gifted Unicorns wouldn't be allowed, she allowed in the grounds that Ruby was still one percent unicorn and the rules don't forbid hybrids. Pointing this out forced the elitist, racist nobles to back down, and also, intentionally on her part, caused an upsurge of unicorn hybrids to apply now that that loophole was made clear.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: According to Moon Ray/Canticum, one version of Twilight/Amicita came from a timeline where she suffered a severe Crisis of Faith as a result of Celestia and Luna's mysterious disappearances. Her obsession with replacing Celestia and Luna gradually turning her into a brutal warlord who led House Moon and Star, a faction of Unicorn supremacists, under the belief Unicorns like herself deserved to rule Equestria in Celestia and Luna's absence. The mainline Twilight/Amicita was reportedly very disturbed upon learning of Moon Ray/Canticum's vision, and had to be assured that the Twilight/Amicitia from the "Equestria Divided" timeline wasn't her.
  • Nerves of Steel: Justified. She has fought so many powerful, wicked beings in her lifetime that receiving death threats from a corrupt nobility feels paltry in comparison. When one of said corrupt nobles tried cowing her into submission by threatening to have an 'accident' befall her if she doesn't, she tells him off, calling him a greedy, pathetic bully, before revealing their conversation has been recorded by Shadow Sentinel.
  • "Not So Different" Remark:
    • She refuses to use the Solarians' empty casings as replacement bodies for the Striga Family's victims because the Solarians were left an Endangered Species thanks to King Exosus' genocidal actions, and they need every casing to replenish their numbers. Even if the Solarians were willing to give them up, she believes robbing them of the chance and resources to live in favor of helping another will make her no different than the Striga Family themselves. It would also be cruel to rob the Striga Family's victims of their eternal reward in the afterlife since they have accepted their deaths and willingly passed on.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: (to Princess-Regent Merula) Each casing the Solarians make is intended to be the body of a new Solarian. If they had the production ability they once had, it would be no problem. But now... every Solarian born is vitally needed. Their species is endangered, it'd be stealing a life they desperately need... we'd be no better than the Strigas... The Solarians would accept it without question, they want to help however they can, but it wouldn't be right... even more, their victims already accepted their deaths and have willingly passed on... it seems cruel to do that to them.
    • King Magna also noticed that while her methods in ruling are completely different from his own, her beliefs on friendship are very similar to his, as she prefers to "conquer by friendship" rather than the sword like he does, and she has a group of friends who trust her and empower her during crises. This impressed Magna enough that he offered to teach her one of his most powerful abilities, the "Army of the King", in which he can summon a massive army of mortals and deities who willingly sided with him over the years.
  • Old Shame: She really doesn't think much of her slavish devotion to Celestia and obsession with following the rules in her younger years, especially since people are using it as Malicious Slander against her. When Spike brings it up, she reacts with disgust.
  • Our Gods Are Different: She's an "Ascendant goddess", described In-Universe as one of the rarest of the three main types of deities. Like all deities, she becomes more powerful and eldritch the older she gets, except as a 'prodigy deity', her physical and magical growth rates are accelerated far beyond those of a normal deity's. She's also a recorded example of what happens when a dead deity reincarnates as another in the present — due to Mana Equus bequeathing Equidkind the gift of magic before her death, all Equids essentially carry a piece of her divine essence, and thus anyone has the potential to become her reincarnation. Twilight/Amicitia was the first to do so by realizing "friendship is magic" and sticking to those beliefs, causing her divine core to regenerate Mana Equus' essence inside her and be chosen by Mana Equus herself as the first of Mana's many reincarnations/successors. Others would eventually follow, making all of them The Chosen Many.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: As an Alicorn, she can manifest the gills and aquatic tail of a Sea Pony, allowing her to use water magic and swim incredibly fast.
  • Obsessively Organized: As in canon, she suffered from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, though she more accurately has Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. She was obsessed with organizing things and making things perfect according to her standards, and was largely unaware of how abnormal her behavior can get at times. She also suffered from severe panic attacks whenever things got beyond her control in her youth, which Celestia was hoping she'd overcome; she eventually does by the time she becomes the ruler of Equestria.

    P — S
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Luminiferous notes that had circumstances played out differently, Sunset Shimmer, Celestia's previous student, would have taken Twilight's place as Alicorn goddess of Magic and the first of many Reincarnation "aspects" of Mana Equus instead. Unfortunately, Sunset squandered her potential with her selfishness and unfettered ambition, resulting in her potential going to Twilight.
    • On the other hand, it's implied Twilight was prevented from going down a similar path as Sunset Shimmer when Celestia, taking notice of Twilight's Ineffectual Loner and Insufferable Genius behavior, sent her student to Ponyville to make friends. As canon would show, the rest was history.
    • As it turned out, Twilight's completion of Starswirl the Bearded's unfinished spell was this for the 'Hooves of Oblivion Crisis'. While her work did result in her friends' Cutie Marks being scrambled temporarily, it also protected them from Final Epoch's time-manipulation powers. Without Twilight's mistake, Queen Dazzleglow wouldn't have been able to find a way to defeat Final Epoch, allowing her Fallen ex-student to become powerful enough to "fix" timelines and Ret-Gone anyone she perceived as 'evil'.
    • Twilight ultimately saved the Principalities of Equestria from being assimilated into Griffonstone (and therefore keeping the land out of the greedy claws of Lord Goldstone and his revanchist Autorist allies)... just by approaching a then-mortal Urtica and giving her a pep-talk about friendship.
    • In her fight with Starfall Dusk, while manifesting Mana Equus' part of her soul, Twilight admits that had Starfall Dusk made the right choices and actually used her great potential for good, she would've been the one to become a goddess and Mana Equus' reincarnation instead of Twilight. Instead, Starfall Dusk squandered everything by tortured her own friends for the sake of power and refusing to take responsibility for her crimes, and now she has only herself to blame. On the other hand, Twilight/Mana Equus acknowledges in the same breath that if she made the wrong choices, she herself would've ended up like Starfall Dusk, who was condemned to suffer in Nekelmu's Hell-Realms for her crimes of breaking Primeval Laws in denying her friends' souls their eternal reward.
    • Similarly to Starfall Dusk, Twilight/Amicitia found another version of her from what she called the "Researcher Universe", in which she became a extremely unhinged Mad Scientist whose increasingly horrendous experiments culminated in the Researcher Universe being trapped in a nightmarish time loop. While the Researcher Universe was fixed by the local gods, its version of Twilight lost the great destiny that other Twilights have fulfilled, with Moondancer taking her place instead while Spike (whom she lobotomized For Science! and then re-lobotomized after his mind started healing) opting to stay in the Dragonlands as Dragon Lord out of distrust for that Twilight. Scared by the possibility of ending up like her, Twilight/Amicitia used the Researcher Universe as a cautionary tale for both herself and others who showed similar levels of genius/talent never to go that far.
  • Power Gives You Wings: As in canon, her completion of Starswirl's unfinished spell, combined with her epiphany about the nature of friendship, caused her to Ascend to demi-godhood.
  • Power Incontinence: As a filly, while she was taking the School for Gifted Unicorns' entry exam, she was startled by Rainbow Dash's first Sonic Rainboom into causing a magic surge. What followed was an impossibly immense display of magic that not only hatched the dragon egg used in the test, but also briefly aging the newborn Dragon (Spike) into a full-grown one. Unfortunately, being a young filly, she couldn't control the burst of magic, requiring Celestia to intervene and calm her down. However, the incident would also give her her starry Cutie Mark, spurring Celestia to take her in as her personal student.
  • The Power of Friendship:
    • As a goddess of Friendship, she's at her most powerful when near those she's friends with, including the Mane Six, spiking her own magic reserves incredibly; one incident involving this allowed her and the Mane Six to instantly obliterate a self-aware fragment of King Sombra's evil personality. Her domain also gives her both a natural predisposition to using memory spells to invoke memories of close friendship, and a natural affinity to the Element of Magic. It's also shown during her fight with Starfall Dusk that she can summon her friends as magical spirits to aid her in battle, as she did so to free the bound souls of Starfall Dusk's tortured friends while both are in a Pocket Dimension, though the Mane Six have refused to elaborate on this.
    • This is what got her to change her initial views on King Magna as a villainous conqueror to a benevolent king with good intentions. After realizing they really aren't so different in how they view friendship, Magna shows her his most powerful ability — the "Army of the King" spell, where he can summon a massive army of both mortals and deities who have willingly sided with him over the years, even those who merged with him. As Magna told her, while he is a conqueror, he preferred to "conquer by friendship", which is very similar to her methods as both a Princess and ruler of Equestria.
  • Psychic Link: As more Equines start reincarnating as Mana Equus, she gains a psychic link that lets her telepathically communicate with them, sense their presences, and see through their eyes. This is because all of them are technically the same person, leading to them developing a Hive Mind. Both she and Princess Rainbow/Fidelitas discuss it in a Codexverse drabble when the former first discovers this ability following Blue Suede/Caerulus and Bossa Nova/Rubeus' re-Ascensions.
Princess Fidelitas: I thought you guys weren't related.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Yeah, me too, but I guess ever since Blue Suede and Bossa Nova re-Ascended, I... well, it's not exactly like their twin bond, but I can still sense and hear them naturally without using any of my power, and vice-versa. I'll need to examine this more when I get the chance.
  • Purple Is Powerful: She's born with a lavender pelt. She's also a very intelligent and talented mage to the point where she's considered a prodigy, and because of this, both her physical and magical growth as an Alicorn goddess are accelerated faster than the growth of a normal deity. She's also managed to become the first reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus, the Empyrean Magician/The Thirteenth Empyrean, one of Equidkind's first gods and the one who bequeathed magic to them in the first place.
  • Rage Against the Mentor: The Codex section recording the Changeling Courts opens with her ripping into Celestia for knowing of Chrysalis and her hive, yet doing almost nothing about it. While the inaction regarding Timbucktu's destruction was justified with Equestria's recovery from the Nightmare Moon incident and civil wars, Celestia decided to seal Chrysalis inside a volcano instead of Tartarus because the latter's toxic effects of its malice and hatred, and left it with the barest minimum of security. This allowed a Giant Wyrm (which happened on the volcano) to carve into the volcano easily and letting Chrysalis escape. It's telling when Celestia doesn't really defend herself against her student's accusations.
  • Rags to Royalty: While she's the youngest daughter of a Duke and Duchess (who, according to one of the Codex writers, possess political power that's second to the Royal Sisters themselves pre-retirement), she starts off as a talented yet introverted bookworm who was sent to an ordinary town by Princess Celestia to make friends. Sometime later, she would finish Starswirl the Bearded's unfinished spell, causing her to Ascend to demi-godhood and be crowned a Princess. Then she would Ascend to true godhood during the "League of Domination Crisis" by realizing that magic is essentially The Power of Friendship, causing her to be chosen by Mana Equus to be her first successor and Reincarnation "aspect". After this, Celestia and Luna deem her their successor and abdicate their thrones, making her both the Top God of the Equestrian Pantheon and the official ruling Princess of the Prinicipalities of Equestria, ushering in a new era.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: A huge reason why she's so beloved and popular. Following her coronation as Princess and, much later, the official ruler of Equestria, she has dedicated herself to helping her Equestrian subjects, spreading friendship, and making the world a better place in general.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • During her "fight" with Starfall Dusk, Twilight/Amicitia and Mana Equus gives one to Starfall Dusk while manifesting herself with Mana Equus in a Pocket Dimension as one complete soul. They both utterly deconstruct Starfall Dusk's completely selfish motives for seeking friendship, while pointing out that in cruelly throwing away her own friends like trash, she squandered her own potential for greatness, including the possibility of becoming Mana Equus' reincarnation. Then Twilight/Amicitia and Mana Equus reveal that in binding her friends' souls to herself, Starfall Dusk broke the Primeval Laws and thus marked herself for eternal damnation in Nekelmu's Hell-Realms.
Starfall Dusk: How are you doing this?!
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria/Mana Equus: BECAUSE THE BONDS I HAVE WITH MY FRIENDS ARE TRUE AND REAL. YOU THREW YOUR FRIENDS AWAY LIKE TRASH.
Starfall Dusk: They were a necessary sacrifice! I could've brought harmony to everyone! Wipe away everything impure and discordant!
(Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria/Mana Equus proceeds to free more of Starfall Dusk's friends, causing the latter to lose more power until she turns back to normal)
Starfall Dusk: Tell me...why? Why did you reject me? Why, Mana? How did I disappoint you?!
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria/Mana Equus: YOU DIDN'T BELIEVE IN YOURSELF OR YOUR FRIENDS. YOU BETRAYED YOUR FRIENDS AND STOLE THEIR POTENTIAL FOR YOUR OWN SELFISH ENDS. YOU REJECTED YOUR OWN FRIENDSHIPS AS A QUICK PATH TO GODHOOD. YOU NEVER GREW BEYOND YOUR DAYS WITH YOUR NOSE STUCK IN A BOOK. DID YOU REALLY THINK YOU WOULD BECOME MY REINCARNATION BY SACRIFICING YOUR FRIENDS?
Starfall Dusk: I only wanted harmony! I only wanted to make this world perfect! Why should I be punished for that?! What's wrong with seeking harmony?!
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria/Mana Equus: (looks at Starfall Dusk with disappointment)
Starfall Dusk: Well?! Who do you think you are to judge me?!
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria/Mana Equus: WHO AM I? I AM MANA EQUUS, THE EMPYREAN MAGICIAN. I AM TWILIGHT SPARKLE, CELESTIA'S FAITHFUL STUDENT AND FAITHFUL FRIEND. I AM THE ONE WHO BEQUEATHED MAGIC TO ALL PONYKIND. I AM THE MARE WHO HAD TO LEARN FRIENDSHIP TO SAVE THE WORLD AND FIND WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT. (points at Starfall Dusk) AND IN ANOTHER TIMELINE, I COULD HAVE BEEN YOU IF YOU HAD MADE THE RIGHT CHOICES OR I HAD MADE THE WRONG ONES. YOU HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME ME AS YOU WISHED. BUT YOU WERE THE ONE WHO CAST ASIDE EVERYTHING THAT COULD HAVE ALLOWED THAT. WHEN YOU THREW AWAY YOUR FRIENDS AND NEVER LOOKED BACK, YOU THREW AWAY ANY CHANCE OF BECOMING SOMETHING GREATER... AND IN THE PROCESS, YOU BROKE PRIMEVAL LAW BY BINDING THE SOULS OF YOUR FRIENDS AND DENYING THEM THEIR RIGHTOUS AFTERLIFE. AND THERE IS AN INESCAPABLE PRICE FOR THAT TRANSGRESSION.
Starfall Dusk: (realizes what this means) N-No... Don't do this to me...
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria/Mana Equus: YOU HAD MANY CHANCES TO CHANGE. MANY CHANCES TO UNDERSTAND... AND EVEN NOW, YOU WILL NEVER LISTEN. (turns away) I CAN DO NOTHING MORE FOR YOU. ALL I CAN DO NOW IS LEAVE YOU TO THE FATE YOU BROUGHT UPON YOURSELF.
    • She would give a furious one to a group of convicted Pony headmistresses, female administrators and teachers for both promoting misandry in their schools and abusing/neglecting/dismissing their male students under the belief that their gender makes them magically 'weaker' compared to female students.
And before you ask, no, I didn't become the ruler of this country just by being a mare! I GOT here through my own MERITS! So think about what you hear or say before you come to me spouting nonsense like the ones you just did right now!
    • After overcoming Zoufalství's Demonic Possession of her thanks to Spike's help, she would verbally tear into Zoufalství, calling him a "cowardly shadow" who has no power over her or her loved ones. This, combined with her briefly unveiling her true divine form as an Alicorn-shaped singularity Made of Magic, terrified Zoufalství so much that he flees into the Castle of Friendship's basement.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: You are nothing but a cowardly shadow! You have no power over me! You have no power over the ones I love! You have NO POWER AT ALL! AND I WILL NEVER GIVE YOU ANYMORE! NOW GET OUT AND NEVER COME NEAR ME OR SPIKE EVER AGAIN!
  • Reincarnation: During the "League of Domination Crisis", she manages to make her magic core regenerate by realizing the true meaning of magic, resulting in her reincarnating as Mana Equus, one of Equidkind's first deities after King Equus himself and the one who gave Equidind magic. While she remains the dominant persona, her "true" nature is now a combination of herself and Mana. However, due to how souls and divine reincarnation works in this setting, she ends up sharing Mana's soul with other Equines as they start making the same leap, resulting in all of them becoming "aspects" and co-hosts who share a Hive Mind with each other due to being technically the same person.
  • Related in the Adaptation: As of this Codexverse drabble, she would become the Happily Married wife of Captain Flash Sentry, who by that time had Ascended to godhood as Prince Magnus Dorado Sentinel Equestria.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: She's a Politically-Active Princess who takes a more direct role in protecting Equestria and improving the lives of her mortal subjects, and she's an Alicorn goddess who is one of the most powerful mages in the world. Even before Ascending to godhood, she was a renowned Equestrian heroine who battled various threats like Tirek, Discord, and Chrysalis. She also founded the School of Friendship and teaches there, making her a Badass Teacher.
  • Secret Test of Character: Her being sent to Ponyville stemmed from Celestia wanting to make her snap out of her Ineffectual Loner behavior and make friends. It turns out that Celestia knew making friends is crucial to her student unlocking the Elements of Harmony and defeating Nightmare Moon, and she later ends up succeeding at both.
  • Seeing Through Another's Eyes: The Psychic Link she developed with other Equines as they start reincarnating as Mana Equus allows her to see telepathically through the eyes of her fellow "aspects" and successors, and vice-versa. This is because all of them are technically the same person, which created a Hive Mind between them as a consequence.
  • Seen It All: As she tells a corrupt Canterlot noble, she has confronted and fought so many Mad Gods and other powerful threats in Equestria's defense that a mere death threat isn't enough to move her. She even calls the noble "a greedy, pathetic bully"... before revealing that Shadow Sentinel has been recording everything.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: So, you expect me to be afraid of you?
    Corrupt noble: ...What?
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Let me list the things I've faced that I WAS afraid of. An insane lunar goddess, the God of Chaos himself, a rogue Changeling Queen who's destroyed entire kingdoms, a mad Umbrum warlock strong enough to make a kingdom vanish for a thousand years, an evil magic-eating centaur tyrant who had the combined power of an entire country plus Discord, an insane cult leader, a ruthless conqueror who's ravaged the south half of the planet, and so on. I beat each and every one of them. So tell me, sir, why should I be intimidated by you?
Corrupt noble: B-Because you just might have an accident if you don't do what I say.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: You think I'm afraid of a death threat? I've had threat, after threat, after threat on my life for the past few years. By people far, far more capable of backing them up than you. You're nothing but a greedy, pathetic bully. Oh, and there's one other reason I'm not scared of you.
    Corrupt noble: W-What is that?
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Look up.
  • Seers: As the Alicorn goddess of Happy Endings, she has precognitive abilities. While the domain of Happy Endings hasn't been entirely explored yet, Luminiferous believes that it gives her a "subconscious foresight" that allows her to see and guide her towards happy endings to terrible conflicts. It's later revealed that precognitive abilities are common in her father's side of the family, as she is a paternal descendant of First-Age prophetess Gypsy Wheel through Gypsy Night Light.
  • Semi-Divine: She spent much of the Codexverse (and by extension, the canon show) as an Alicorn demigoddess after she Ascended. During the battle with the League of Domination, she would Ascend to true godhood and become the first Reincarnation "aspect" of Mana Equus in the process, while her friends (and a massive influx of allies brought over by students of her Friendship School) gave her time to come into her divine station and channel the Elements of Harmony, despite their physical forms being destroyed at the time.
  • Spanner in the Works: She was revealed to have played an important role in the defeat and purification of Final Epoch when her act of finishing Starswirl's unfinished Cutie Mark spell (which consequently made it an effective counter to time-based spells) allowed Queen Dazzleglow to find a loophole in Final Epoch's powers. Had it not happened, Final Epoch would have become powerful enough to "fix" timelines as she pleases and Ret-Gone anyone she perceived as 'evil'.
  • Superior Successor: She is seen as this to Celestia and Luna by Celestia herself in regards to leading both Equestria and the local Equestrian Pantheon. Though young, Twilight is much better at balancing her duties as a ruler and a heroine, as well as making friendships with others. Celestia, by contrast, has talents that were more focused on teaching, while Luna was more of a warrior. This is the main reasin why Celestia and Luna opted to make Twilight their heir and step down from the throne.
  • Super Mode:
    • When under extreme emotional duress, Twilight/Amicitia gains a sparkling light blue streak in her mane and tail, while her eyes glow magenta and her body is surrounded by a Battle Aura as she manifests both halves of her soul, both her own half and Mana Equus' half. This grants her naturally boosted power, along with Mana's divine experience and knowledge in addition to her own.
    • Twilight/Amicitia also has a "Rainbow Power form" like in canon, which grants her high-speed flight and a powerful energy beam in addition to the powers she has as a Bearer.
  • Surpassed the Teacher: Through her deeds, achievements, and talents, she ends up surpassing Celestia in more ways than one, proving that she would make for a much better leader than her mentor. Becoming the first Reincarnation "aspect" of Celestia's great-aunt, Mana Equus, helps seal it. This leads to her being deemed Celestia's heir to both the throne and the position of Top God of the Equestrian Pantheon, which she would inherit following Celestia's official abdication.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: While fighting the Knights of Order, she realizes that King Danu was completely indoctrinated into being a copy of the original Knights of Harmony by the previous King Danu, and starts feeling sorry for him because of it. She even compares King Danu's upbringing to what the Solar Tabloids accused Celestia of doing to her. King Danu doesn't take it well.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Danu, I realized something... and I feel sorry for you.
    King Danu: ...What?
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Over a millennia of generations raised from birth to think a certain way, raising another generation to think that way, raising another generation to think that way.
    King Danu: What's your point?
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: You're not your own person, are you?
King Danu: ...Of course I am.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Your father the previous King Danu never gave you the choice, did he?
    King Danu: You know nothing!
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: You're what those tabloids accused Celestia of making me! None of you were allowed to ever be YOU! Only what countless generations THINK the original Knights were like! A funhouse mirror reflection of them!
    King Danu: SHUT UP!
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: And THAT is why I feel SORRY FOR YOU!

    T — Z
  • Tall Poppy Syndrome: Despite achieving many great things and earning her place as ruling Princess of Equestria through her own merits, there are those who still believed she simply lucked her way to the top and envied/resented her for it.
    • A huge reason behind Decepticolt, Goldencap, and Zappityhoof's antagonism of her is because they believed she was withholding the secrets of Alicornhood from them out of a sense of entitlement. Nevermind that they callously crippled one of her friends by amputating her wings in their bid to become Alicorns the easy way. This is what partially fuels her anger towards the trio as well.
    • For a time, the Church of the Stars kept her status as one of Mana Equus' reincarnation "aspects" a secret specifically to avoid this. If people find out, they would just take this as further proof that she was "born" into great power or has some pre-existing divine favor, thus increasing their envy and resentment. This also applied to others once they made the same leap as she did and became her fellow "aspects", successors, and co-hosts. However, once things were deemed "safe" enough, the Church of the Stars decided to make the information public.
    • Her becoming Celestia and Luna's successor as ruler of Equestria caused some stubborn Canterlot nobles to grumble that she 'lucked' her way to the throne. This prompts Discord to defend her on her behalf.
  • Teacher/Student Romance: Deconstructed and defied. While she admires Celestia and did so in her youth, she also respects Celestia too much to try romance her and is disgusted by how rumors suggested otherwise. She points out that her being in a relationship with Celestia, now her former mentor, would not only look like academic favoritism, but also imply that all her accomplishments, including Ascending to godhood, were due to Celestia grooming and corrupting her into becoming her immortal lover. Celestia herself was similarly appalled by the rumors and has explicitly expressed that she would never abuse her authority that way.
Princess Twilight Sparkle: I know Celestia is a very nice and wonderful person, but I respect her too much to ever try pursue a relationship with her.
  • This Means War!: In response to Talon Bàis' attack on Dragontown and Equestria's draconic allies, Twilight would formally declare war on the griffon kingdom. It's noted that Talon Bàis made a huge mistake provoking her wrath.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Invoked. She was a somewhat Insufferable Genius and Ineffectual Loner as a filly, making Celestia send her to Ponyville so she could see there's more to life than just studying. After befriending the mares that would become the Mane Six, however, she would grow into the compassionate, friendly, and approachable goddess she is today. It turns out Celestia wanted her to do this because it would awaken the Elements of Harmony that were instrumental to defeating/purifying Nightmare Moon, and Celestia believed her student, who bore the same Cutie Mark as the Element of Magic, has the best chance to activate them.
  • Top God: A "King of the Gods" example. After Ascending to true godhood :and becoming Mana Equus' first reincarnation "aspect", she would later replace Celestia as leader of the Equestrian Pantheon. Celestia felt her student was more talented at leadership than she is, and engineered things so she would step down to make way for her successor in the future.
  • Treachery Is a Special Kind of Evil: As a goddess of Friendship whose rise started by making friends, she is staunchly of the opinion that people who willingly engage in treachery are of the worst kind, especially when they do it to their own friends.
    • When she learned that Starfall Dusk made genuine friends, only to betray and kill them by performing horrible experiments on them and binding their souls to herself in an attempt to become an Alicorn the "easy way", she is so enraged that enters a Super Mode where both she and Mana Equus manifest as one soul, and proceeds to utterly overpower Starfall Dusk and free the trapped souls. All while giving Starfall Dusk a "The Reason You Suck" Speech on why she'll never become the goddess she wants to be. Then she lets Nekelmu drag Starfall Dusk away to her eternal punishment for breaking Primeval Laws, but by then she is more pitying than angry.
    • She is also furious when she learned the reason behind Talon Bàis' attack on Fillydelphia's Dragontown was thanks to corrupt, racist, and treacherous Equestrians helping the Talon Bàisians sneak their way into Equestria out of hatred towards the Dragons. She wasted no time authorizing Sterilizing Agent, Minster of the Royal Equestrian Ministry of Internal Security, in investigating and hunting down those responsible in aiding the attack, one of which included corrupt mayor and corporate executive Spoiled Caviar, who (along with his cronies) was promptly arrested at weapon-point upon being exposed.
  • True Companions: Despite her initial reluctance to make friends, she ended up befriending the mares who would become the Mane Six once she decides to give friendship a try. Her friendships with them would stay strong even after many hiccups and tribulations, such as the 'Royal Canterlot Wedding Crisis'.
  • Tyke-Bomb: Averted. She was never treated that way by Celestia, but with Celestia's worst flaws and mistakes being made public, many Equestrians came to see her as someone who was treated like a pawn by Celestia and groomed by her mentor to succeed her as goddess and ruler of Equestria, never given the freedom to think for herself or live her own life beyond her designated purpose. Upon meeting King Danu, who was actually raised this way, she compared King Danu's abusively restrictive upbringing to how many people thought Celestia raised her and starts feeling sorry for him as a result. King Danu doesn't take it well.
  • The Unchosen One: Played with; she's both this and The Chosen One in that while she was born an academic and magical prodigy, she still had to use her talents for good and worked hard to get to where she is now. Otherwise, her becoming an Alicorn and a Princess wouldn't have happened. As Mana Equus reveals, anyone can reincarnate as her due to all Equine races carrying her gift of magic, and Twilight/Amicitia is no exception. This is proved further with other Equines who made the same leap as Twilight/Amicitia did, such as the twins Blue Suede and Bossa Nova, Shining Armor, and Glory/Magus, spiritually connecting all of them together as they became co-hosts for Mana's soul.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Subverted. Her Magnetic Hero tendencies, as well as her compassionate and approachable personality, has made her extremely well-liked and popular among even non-Equestrians. Unfortunately, she is opposed by factions like Tribalists and Autorists, who see her as a threat to their views of tribal/racial superiority, as well as corrupt nobles and other individuals who think little of her because of her beliefs in friendship.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Zigzagged. She is among the most powerful divine mages on the planet and is a learned intellectual, but there are things that she isn't very good at, such as physical combat (despite being an experienced battle mage) or using the racial magics of other Pony tribes. Becoming Mana Equus' first reincarnation "aspect" gave her her memories and unique powers yet unexplored on top of even more magic, though Mana Equus herself notes it would take time for her to access them all. Reportedly, this would lead to her befriending King Moon Ray/Canticum Lunae, who himself transformed into an 'infant' eldritch deity through a series of events and is learning how to explore his new domains.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Her Ascension partially spurred Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker to experiment on Pony foals/teenagers to unlock the secrets of godhood, leading to the Grittish Isles being devastated by a magic-eating monster and the 'birth' of Crystal Prism. Upon learning of this, she would Freak Out and blame herself for it. Her mother, Twilight Velvet, assured her that she still did her best and nothing would ever change that.
  • Voice of the Legion: This happens when her entire soul manifests, with both Twilight/Amicitia and Mana Equus's voices overlapping as one.
  • Wake-Up Call: She initially believed that the Eats Babies "trope" was a cliched narrative device used in trashy fiction to exaggerate the evil of villains and antagonists... until she read official reports on Talon Bàis' origins and worst atrocities, forcing her to realize that yes, there are people in the world who are willing and depraved enough to eat children. The revelation disgusted her so much that she (and her friends and officials) excused herself to go vomit in the palace bathrooms.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Once, I thought the 'Eats Babies' trope to be a cliched narrative device, fit only for trashy fiction as a way of exaggerating the evil of the villains and antagonists. I thought even if done in real life, it would only be rare and by the demented and psychopathic. After reading about the Draco-Balut, though, I am no longer so sure about my previous assumptions. Or the sanity of sapient beings, for that matter.
  • Was It Really Worth It?: During and after the "Homecoming of the Dvar" crisis, Twilight/Amicitia tried invoking this realization in a group of Autorists and Tribalists by showing them detailed recordings of the Dvar's xenophobic imperialism, which were disturbingly similar to their own. While some ended up admiring the Dvar's corruption, it did make others reconsider their own racist/tribalist mindsets.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: This is the end result of your mindset. Of your belief 'we're the greatest so we have the right to conquer and crush everything that's not us'. Of being so dedicated to that belief that it's ingrained in their very being by magical corruption. This is what you'd have Equus become. Would it really be worth it?
  • Wave-Motion Gun: During the "War Against Order" crisis, Twilight/Amicitia developed an attack that involved firing a stream of white-hot molten metal at its target. To make it work, she would have to collect enormous quantities of metallic objects, superheat them into a white-hot liquid mass, dump the molten metal into a Pocket Dimension where it is pulled and accelerated by gravity to relativistic speeds (i.e. 14% speed of light or above) via spatial looping, and then opening up a portal to fire the metal at a target of her choosing. Twilight/Amicitia's first target (and test subject) was Despotic Destiny, whom she tricked into protecting his adoptive daughter and minion, Princess Nebula Dawn, leading to Despotic Destiny being heavily injured beyond even the limits of his incredible durability and regeneration. It's also theorized that Twilight/Amicitia's attack could kill lesser deities outright, and notably both evil and heroic individuals created their own versions of it.
  • Winged Unicorn: As in canon, she became an Alicorn after Ascending to godhood.
  • Xenafication: Twilight Sparkle in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic was already a badass mage even before becoming an Alicorn, and after her transformation, she became powerful enough to take on Tirek and fight him to a standstill. The Codexverse version of her takes every single accomplishment she made in the show and expands on it; in their pre-Ascension lives, she and her friends purified a Disorder Lord (which is no small feat especially for a mortal). Her entry notes that during her fight with Tirek, even while empowered by the Alicorn sisters, a huge portion of her power came from both herself and Cadence... and Twilight was just a demigoddess at the time. Even Luminiferous, the ancient Alicorn god of Potential and Self-Determination, has stated her potential is so immense it rivals his when he was at her age. Then she becomes even more powerful when she Ascends to true godhood during the "League of Domination Crisis" which saw her becoming the first of many divine Reincarnation "aspects" of Mana Equus, Equinekind's first goddess of Magic and the one who granted Equinekind the ability to use magic. Since then, she has become the Princess equivalent of an Emperor Scientist, spreading friendship while creating (or advocating the creation of) various technologies and spells.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: When she started blaming herself for what happened to Crystal Prism and the Grittish Isles, her mother, Twilight Velvet, would effectively tell her this as a way to ebb her daughter's guilt.
Duchess Twilight Velvet: You did a lot of good things in this world, Twilight. And nothing is EVER going to change that for me, you, or anyone else.
  • You Could Have Used Your Powers for Good!: Both she and Mana Equus tell an increasingly enraged Starfall Dusk that had she made the right choices, become a better person, and not sacrificed her own friends out of pure selfishness, Starfall Dusk would have become an Alicorn goddess and Mana Equus' Reincarnation instead.
Princess Amicita Sparkle Equestria/Mana Equus: [AND] IN ANOTHER TIMELINE, I COULD HAVE BEEN YOU IF YOU HAD MADE THE RIGHT CHOICES OR I HAD MADE THE WRONG ONES. YOU HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME ME AS YOU WISHED. BUT YOU WERE THE ONE WHO CAST ASIDE EVERYTHING THAT COULD HAVE ALLOWED THAT. WHEN YOU THREW AWAY YOUR FRIENDS AND NEVER LOOKED BACK, YOU THREW AWAY ANY CHANCE OF BECOMING SOMETHING GREATER.
  • You Monster!: She furiously calls Starfall Dusk a "monster" after learning of the latter's cruel actions towards her own friends, to the point where she manifests Mana Equus' part of her soul.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: ...You'll never be an Alicorn... (bellowing) ALL YOU ARE IS A MONSTER!!!
