openAdding image to tropes
I can't seem to add images to Seven Knights page, for example I'm trying to add an image to the Evan's Crew tab here https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/SevenKnightsNormalHeroes
Can anyone help? Not sure if I should just google the image and then copy and paste or?
Thanks
Edited by Blueforest73openAssistance for recap pages Western Animation
May someone (or a group of people) please help provide content to the recap pages of Star Wars: The Clone Wars that do not have any in addition to being red hyperlinks? They need to be cleaned up and provided with content/information.
Edited by Thetropemaster101openAdding a Page Image
I stopped over at the Image Pickin' Forum, but I'm afraid I'm still not sure what the protocol is for editing a page's image and/or the page quote.
The forum seems to be about changing a page's image — I'm assuming one should go through the forum before just changing an image unannounced? But what about a trope or work that has no image? Is it okay to just add one, or does one also need to visit the forum first?
How does consensus on the forum work? I see something marked "Crowners" which seems to be like the hats on the Launch Pad, but I'm not seeing anywhere to add one like a hat... And what if one wants to change or edit the page quote? Is there somewhere to go for that?
I'm just confused about the protocol of doing these things — I'd like to add a page image to a trope and perhaps edit the quote, but I don't want to make that sort of edit without clearing it first if that needs to be done. Can anybody lay it out for me or link me to the proper administrivia page? Thanks.
openThis potential trope: Undercranked Chipmunk Voice
Does this trope sound like a legitimate one? I put it in the Trope Launch Pad it states the following description:
A voice effect where the normal sounding voice is increased in pitch and often sped-up and squeaky sounding. Chipmunk voice is frequently used for comedic effect, e.g. in a sped-up scene, a scene with repetitive dialogue, when someone is listing off numerous things, or during a telephone conversation in which the person on the phone is talking but not visible in the scene. This is often used when a character's dialogue is repeated or if they are talking non-stop or listing off more things than the other character or viewer can keep up with, so as a way to draw a scene to a conclusion is by speeding up or undercranking the dialogue to a high pitched squeaky sound as a way to add humor and to bypass unnecessarily long, monotonous, drawn out, bothersome, or repetitive dialogue. It can also be used in music as a way to spice up the vocals, case in point, early production styles of hip-hop artist Kanye West involved sped-up, high-pitch vocal samples from classic soul records incorporated with his own (additional) instrumentation. As a result of the popularity of his debut album "The College Dropout," such sampling techniques subsequently became much copied by a myriad of other hip-hop producers. This audio effect label is commonly used for the voices of the characters in Alvin and the Chipmunks, an animated music group whose voices were pitched up to sound like a presumed chipmunk would if they talked. The Chipmunks' voices were recorded at half the normal tape speed onto audiotape by voice talent (on the 60's records, generally Ross Bagdasarian Sr.'s own voice overdubbed three times, on the post-80's records, studio singers) talking or singing at half the normal speaking rate. When the tape was played back at normal speed, they would sound a full octave higher in pitch, at normal tempo. There is evidence of media that used this effect before the advent of Alvin and the Chipmunks. For example, the high and low pitched characters in The Wizard of Oz were achieved by speeding up and slowing down vocal recordings. Also, Mel Blanc's voice characterization for Daffy Duck was sped up to some extent, and the same for the voice of Tweety Bird. The extensive use of this technique with the Chipmunks, coupled with their popularity, linked this technique to them. The term "chipmunk-voiced" has entered the American vernacular to describe any artificially high-pitched voice. A similar effect could be obtained in playback by merely taking an LP recorded at 331⁄3 RPM and playing it back at 45 or 78 RPM, a trick sometimes tried out by ordinary record listeners. The instrumental portions of the song are sped up as well, however, making it obvious that the music is being played at the wrong speed. However, there are times when viewers or listeners find this audio technique to be annoying, probably due to the high frequency and sharpness of the pitch can be considered ear shattering to some people. Nowadays, the same effect is created digitally and in real time with a pitch shift.
openCleanup Help for Creator/MF 217
I'm going to start clean up for Creator/MF 217 as it does trope the Creators.
That said, I need help:I am not sure what exactly I should remove. Some thing like the Hikkomori trope (where MF 217,who also happens to be the biggest editor on that page as well) that tropes the Creator as one obviously needs to go, but I wonder what else I might need to get rid off as well.
openEditing YMMV for "Instrument of God"
I think the YMMV page for [Instrument of God][https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/InstrumentOfGod] needs editing: most of the tropes carry some negative undertone, and considering the literature's origin as an Entry Pimped book that was not yet published until demand by Tropers, I think this page needs some revision.
That, plus a ZCE So Bad Its Good entry.
openListing creator roles
When listing the roles of an actor on their creator page, which formatting is more acceptable,
This,
- "A" in Work B
- "B" in Work C
- "C" in Work A
or this?
- Work A: "C"
- Work B: "A"
- Work C: "B"
openAre certain tropes flame bait now
Sorry for this double post. I was randomly browsing Maleficent and I saw that someone had deleted the Draco in Leather Pants and They Copied It, Now It Sucks, claiming that the tropes are flame bait. I checked the Flame Bait page and they aren't listed there and I don't recall the new rule regarding Internet Backdraft saying that all tropes related to it are now flame bait. Is it okay for me to restore the deleted tropes?
Edited by KamonTheSkunkopenSo... about "Weird Al" effect?
I think it might need a massive cleanup, because there is a lot of examples that are just media that refeenced other media and became more popular as a result, not parodies as the description states. Or maybe change the definition of "Weird Al" effect, if removing all wicks is just too troublesome.
Also, permission to remove all examples from "Weird Al" Effect that seems more like Shout-Out?
openWill Internet Backdraft be exclusive to sandbox pages now?
I saw that the site decided to make Internet Backdraft a flame bait trope. So will all of the removed examples be added to a sandbox page or something like that? Periphery Hatedom has examples on in despite being Flame Bait, so I'm just curious?
openIn Universe Examples Only but YMMV banner
Why are Discredited Meme and Fan Hater both In-Universe Examples Only but they have a YMMV banner?
Edited by FridgeGuy2016openAnother troper with indentation and natter problems
Stop me if you've heard this story before:
I sent notifiers to cdrood last year about indentation and natter. They've not shown any improvement.
Examples:
- AudioPlay.A Voice From The Dark - Natter
- It's Always Mardi Gras in New Orleans - Natter
- Talking Is a Free Action - Indentation

Edited by bitemytailopenSpoiled Sweet - Misuse or not?
From The Christmas That Almost Wasn't, this got removed:
- Spoiled Sweet: Invoked as Santa states his goal is to induce this in children, and is why he gives presents.
Santa: So that someday, Mr. Prune, they can learn to give too.
With the argument being that because it's a character trope it has to describe a specific character in the work or it's "misuse."
I think it's pretty obvious that it's a fair use of the trope. (Even if it's not Played Straight, it's probably more of a Discussed Trope.) But I want to have an official confirmation before I put it back, in order to avoid an edit war.
openCreating a page for a group of YouTubers Web Original
Hello,
There is this very amusing You Tube channel called RDC World 1. Would it be alright for me to create a creators page for them?
openMaybe sockpuppet? Maybe not?
So yesterday, Excelsior 47 was reported for blanking Miraculous Ladybug fanfic pages and other deletions surrounding the series.
I reported another troper by the username Winx Club for removing tropes from ML fanfic pages about sex and pregnancy. They turned out to be a sockpuppet of Excelsior 47.
Well, now Regal Academy has deleted the same entry for Chat Noir on the Sexy Cat Person page that Excelsior 47 did before. It's their only edit, and their account was made very recently. Is this another sockpuppet, maybe?
openIn-Universe "Tough Act to Follow" examples
Where do In-universe "Tough Act to Follow" Examples go? I found a short story by Frank R. Stockton (that guy who wrote "Lady or Tiger") called "His Wife's Deceased Sister" and it fits this example perfectly (basically, guy writes a story that is too good that he has to make a pseudonym in order to write more stories due to expectations placed on him.
openVideo examples not showing up on work page Web Original
I mean, to be fair, I must the only one who knows about the obscure Dr. Havoc's Diary, but even though I submitted two videos, they're not showing up on the main page for some reason. I'm sure I haven't accidentally deleted the sources when I uploaded those videos, so, I wonder what the issue in that case is. Is it because Dr. Havoc is far too unknown about online?

star_warriors has problems with a lot of things. From their nine most recent edits alone:
I've sent notifiers for the Mao Mao and Godzilla stuff and fixed the capitalization on the Funny American Dad entry, but yeah. There's a lot, and they've been editing in semi-frequent bursts since at least June of last year.
