To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread.

You know those "moles" that throw wrenches at you in the Airship levels of several Mario games? They're actually Koopas! I thought for the longest time that they were moles, like Monty Moles.

June Foray passed away in 2017, much later than I thought. I don't remember hearing about her passing. She was just a few months away from her 100th birthday.
