Disambiguating Works / Subpage Collision Discussion

As there has been no other Intellectual Properties with that name, the move was unnecessary unless the page mover is planning on making a cartoon series franchise page at the original name.

The reason it was moved was due to The Powerpuff Girls (2016).

But that's a derivative (reboot). The IP is still the same.

I am not stating it was the right decision just why it was made.

This all happened because someone misinterpreted my question on whether to move it as a request. Which might be my fault because I worded it badly.

How should the four works still on Hyphenated Titles be dealt with?

Three of them are part of the ongoing comic book cleanup, but that still leaves K-9 (1989) and K9 (2009) which can be disambiguated by year. Given what happened the last time I disambiguated a Doctor Who spinoff, I'd rather not do it myself this time.

Yeah, if the comic cleanup deals with them, it's probably good. Agreed with going by year for that case.

Should we split Theatre.Fun Home off from ComicBook.Fun Home? The page is already soft split anyway and there's 18 out of 71 wicks for the Theatre/ namespace. There's still a lot of tropes that apply to both though.

Literature.The Witches used to have a folder for tropes found in both the book and 1990 film. When I split off a page for Film.The Witches 1990, I copied the shared tropes over to the film page, then merged the book and "book and film" folders on the book page. Some book examples also needed tweaks to remove references to the film.

In this ATT, the possibility of disambiguating Teen Titans from its source material Teen Titans was brought up, in the context of their character pages already being irregularly disambiguated.

Because this also tangentially overlaps with the comic book cleanup project, it isn't as simple as it looks.

It'd take a lot of work to change all the wicks and subpages over, but I think renaming the cartoon's page to Teen Titans (2003) would be the best option (similar to how the first Guardians of the Galaxy film was recently moved to Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)).

While I'm on the subject, would anyone mind if I moved Pinball.Guardians Of The Galaxy to Pinball.Guardians Of The Galaxy 2017? Since most works simply named Guardians of the Galaxy are disambiguated by year by this point (barring the Franchise page and the original comic books), it would make things more consistent. (Plus, there's a few trivia items specifically pertaining to the pinball machine that would fit on their own subpage.)

Regarding the Powerpuff Girls page, should it be moved back to the old title, or should the subpage be moved to "The Powerpuff Girls (1998)"?

Subpages should be moved, unless they're franchise-wide subpages.

(And to make things clear, I won't be the one to move them, as I'm not that familiar with the show.)

I am musing on making a page for Scenes from a Marriage, the new HBO remake of a 1973 series of the same name. Since the latter was eventually cut down into a film, Film.Scenes From A Marriage tropes both the miniseries and theatrical versions.

Should I make Series.Scenes From A Marriage a disambig, redirect Series.Scenes From A Marriage 1973 to the film page, and make the new show at Series.Scenes From A Marriage 2021?

It sounds like the original medium was the Series, so the Film/ should be redirecting to the series namespace instead, and the description of the original work can link directly to the 2021 page.

No, I was saying that the Film/ page should redirect to Series.Scenes From A Marriage, since that's where the original work belongs. The 2021 work is a derivative, so this isn't an instance of two original works with the same name, just a derivative reusing the original's name. You can create the derivative page without moving the original work (like splitting a work and its adaptation into different pages).

Should I move it back?

I am thinking the pages in Mega Man franchise could really use a split currently we have the franchise as a whole the Archie comic series, a fan film and the cartoon series all of which share a bunch of subpages and it is just a mess in general. I am thinking the best way of doing these are.

• ComicBook.Mega Man to ComicBook.Mega Man Archie Comics
• WebVideo.Mega Man to WebVideo.Mega Man Eddie Lebron (Since its a Fan Work I don't think I can use years)
• WesternAnimation.Mega Man to WesternAnimation.Mega Man Ruby Spears (since it is commonly known by the name of the animation company)

The fan film definitely needs to be split since it is sharing subpages with the official series which is really weird, and the Archie comics page technically collides with Dreamwave's Mega Man (which also needs to be moved to Mega Man (Dreamwave)).

Years can be used for fan works if there's no better option, but I agree that the creator is the best choice here.

There are five different works called The Others (a movie, a TV series, a comic book, an RPG and a series of novels), and I'd like to create a disambiguation page called Main.The Others and add it to the Ambiguity Index. Since it would be in the Main namespace, I got directed to Trope Launch Pad and then here. Is it okay to create this page?
